I hate to steal a page from the Karl Rove playbook, but King County executive wannabe David Irons is a flip-flopper. Take for example his “stance” on Southwest Airlines’ controversial proposal to move to Boeing Field.
If elected, he wrote earlier this month to Boeing Field neighbors who don’t want more airplanes flying over their homes, “I will put a stop to this ridiculous proposal.”
On Monday, he wrote in an e-mail to a supporter of the Southwest proposal that if the airline paid for road improvements, “I am open to this concept.”
Flippity.
Irons, a county councilman, said yesterday he has been consistent on the issue. He’s willing to consider a Southwest operation at Boeing Field, but only if it pays for road improvements

Well, politics is a game of perception, and I don’t just want Ron Sims to defeat Irons, I want him to defeat him by a comfortable margin.
Besides, Irons is one of those politicians that really does piss me off by playing games like this. You know, it’s one thing to lie about your opponents record — I don’t condone it, but everybody does it. It’s another thing to lie about your own record.
There are going to be some people who vote for Irons because they believe he will kill the Southwest deal, whatever the circumstances. I’d like to make it clear to them that they are being deceived.
EvergreenRailfan spews:
Airport Way near the Passenger Terminal at KCIA is often at less than capacity. It can handle some more traffic. I would be for making Southwest Pay for connecting their new terminal with I-5 if only it is a direct connection. If it is fixing up the interchanges at Swift/Albro and Boeing Access Road, then that is a local responsibility, as they are not even on the airport grounds. Also, a direct on/off ramp would probably draw the ire of BNSF and UNION PACIFIC, as it would not only cross the mainline, but there is also a small railyard there.
I remember getting a flier from the Sound Airport Coalition, and one of there problems is that it would take up Public Transportation DOllars that are scarce. That may only be the case if a branch-line of LINK LIGHT RAIL was added, or a full-length, deluxe Commuter Rail Station was added. I was asking around on a railfan board how short commuter rail platforms can be, and got many responses of short ones on the East Coast, some only covering a single set of doors. So a 3 car platform with a modest skywalk would be feasable. Also, make the 170 bus(I believe that is the current rush-hour route that serves that area) an all-day, limited-stop Express route between Sea-Tac Airport, S.154th LINK Station, Boeing Field, and Downtown.
Also, I read a few weeks ago that Southwest is asking Boeing to develop a more fuel-efficient version of the 737. Now at the same time, they should ask for the jet to become much quieter, and ask Boeing to ask General Electric to develop a much quieter and fuel-efficient version of the CFM-56, or threaten to open up the Engines on the 737 to competition. I am sure Pratt and Wittney would love to get their engines back on the 737!

Roger Rabbit spews:
As some of you already know, some time ago Stefan “outed” Roger Rabbit as Dean Logan blogging on a King County computer. That’s bullshit — I’m not Dean Logan, nor am I blogging on a government computer. I paid for this computer myself. But don’t confuse Stefan with facts, because he might get — confused. So I go along with Stefan’s delusion.
Since I’m Dean Logan and Stefan is a King County poll worker, I’m Stefan’s supervisor, and believe me this lazy shit needs a lot of supervising. Just look at his web site today — two short pieces that I could have knocked out in 30 seconds apiece. No research, no facts … just filler lifted from a local newspaper and his own goddam web site!
Item 1 is simply a reiteration of a previously posted item on Scuzzy Politics. Milk that cow for all she’s worth, baby! If you milk her hard enough, maybe she’ll give Hershey bars.
Item 2 consists of 116 measly words of diatribe that starts out, “Die, Monorail, Die” and ends with “Just shut the SMP down and move on.” Somewhere in between there’s another 105 words that say nothing. Man, if I had turned in 116 words for my 7th grade essay assignments, the teacher would have reamed me a new one. Guess they graduate anyone nowadays.
Stefan sure is a lazy fuck without an original thought of his own. Maintaining his own readerless blog has gotten to be so much trouble all he does now is pick up a copy of the Seattle Times and scan the headlines while waiting in the checkout line at Larry’s, then go home and type out the first 116 words that pop into his skull and call it a day.
When he’s working for me, Dean Loan, his work product isn’t any better. He’s supposed to be helping people to vote, but just sits there all day daydreaming about ways to keep people from voting.

I don’t know much about the Southwest deal other than what I have read. It doesn’t sound extremely bad. I do know that I thouroughly enjoy flying in and out of Long Beach International. It is by far one of the easiest in and out of any airports. It reminds me a bit of our Pasco airport in the Tri-Cities.
But I did get into an inflight conversation with a Long Beach woman about the airport and she told me about the flight restrictions between 7pm and 7am. It still wasn’t enough in her view but she still used the airport for the same reasons of ease of use.
If any politician is going to support this there would need to be some serious thought put into how the overall picture would be, and addess all the impacts. Irons doesn’t sound like a guy who is going to thoughtfully look at all the issues. I could give a rats ass that he is flip-flopping. What bothers me more is that typical attitude we see in so many repubs. Should a responsible public person ever voice an opinion on something that impacts so many of his potential constituents over one issue? This behavior is why Irons will never make the cut.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@16
Doesn’t sound extremely bad? This “deal” is yet another example of a corporation wanting taxpayers to finance their business. Of course, the business keeps the profits, and all the taxpayers get is the bills. For example:
1. The bills for $100 million of access roadways, at a time when Seattle has billions of unfunded or partially funded high-priority projects on the table;
2. The bills for tearing down a useless, worn out, and absolete terminal building and parking garage when Southwest “gives” it to King County 50 years from now;
3. The bills for over $1 billion of wasted construction at Sea-Tac because the airlines for whom the improvements were built moved to Boeing Field and are no longer paying a dime of revenue to Sea-Tac.
And for what? So Southwest can make another five bucks profit per boarding that otherwise would go to pay for the aforementioned, already built, improvements at Sea-Tac for which taxpayers are already on the hook.
Good deal for Southwest, bad deal for King County taxpayers, and bad deal for Beacon Hill, Georgetown, South Park, and Burien neighbors who will live with the noise from 31,000 commercial jet takeoffs and landings per year (one every 2 minutes during the airport’s operating hours).

I suppose you can try and deflect the focus from Sims atrocious track record to your claim that David Irons is waffling on this issue. Good ahead…that’s what you do in an election contest. However, many voters are interested in each candidates voting record and Sims mismanagement of KingCo for many years.
Keep trying Goldy.

Cynical: “Sims still should win by 6-7 points……unless a few more shitbombs come flying in from leftfield, which could easily happen.”
Not bloody likely. I’m certainly no fan of Ron Sims, but if he wins by anything less than 10 points, I’ll be shocked. He wasn’t getting the rural votes before anyway, so his winning margin will stay the same.
Goldy @ 4: “Well, politics is a game of perception, and I don’t just want Ron Sims to defeat Irons, I want him to defeat him by a comfortable margin.”
Okay, but what difference does it make if Sims wins by 100 or 100,000? Governor Gregoire isn’t any less of a Governor just because of her razor thin margin. I’d understand your post if Irons was any sort of a threat, but he’s not, so it’s a little bit like Rabbit’s comments about Stefan…who gives a crap?
Anyway, Southwest is not moving period, end of story. They’re just trying to scam more $$$$ out of the Port, which they probably will get.
Goldy spews:
Cynical @25,
I’m very happy to have Sims run on his record, as long as Irons runs on his.
bfree2think spews:
Goldy pegs Irons for what he is–another Republican who acts one way to get elected and acts another in office. Irons is the worst kind of political opportunist and will lose because the voters don’t know who he is. Even if Sims has some negatives, he certainly doesn’t lack in integrity or courage.
That being said, he is wrong on Southwest. They are offering nothing more than building themselves a new terminal and parking garage which they will give to the county in FIFTY years. In return, what do we get?
1) Noise–planes will be flying over neighborhoods under the flight path every four minutes at a lower altitude than the priority flights at SeaTac. The mix at Boeing Field now is about 60% smaller planes which don’t impact neighbors. All of the general aviation folks will be forced out.
2) Traffic–it is true that Airport Way can probably handle the traffic. But I-5 can’t. Eastsiders who now take 405 to SeaTac will be coming in on 90 into Seattle. South King residents who now turn at 518 will be coming up I-5 into town. Ever hear the line on the traffic report, “traffic on Northbound I-5 is backed up from Boeing Field…” Prepare to hear it much more.
3) Taxes–SW is offering nothing in terms of infrastructure. Millions of passengers will require new bus service where there is none today. These hours will have to come out of existing service. Roads will need improvements.
We get nothing from this deal except allowing as many potential flights into Boeing Field as Cleveland, San Jose, or Memphis into an airport in the heart of the city. SW’s own CEO said they would save about $5 a passenger. How much will you see of that?

Bottom-feeders like lucy on the government dole are always struggling with rationalizing and justifying their cost ineffective programs. At least Roger Rabbit admitted how ineffective and frustrating DSHS was for him over 30 years. More money wasn’t the answer.
There are serious systemic problems at all levels of government. The only way to clean-up dodge is to take the money away and start over on some of these bureaucracies like WSDOT. The bureaucrats need to be put into a deep coma….money is like air to them. Most of them would starve in the real world.
Let’s get serious. Vote YES on I-912 and demand serious reform for WSDOT, demand clearly defined projects that are fully funded BEFORE started. Bureaucrats have figured our if they can just get enough money to start a big project, they have job security and it will force voters to even higher future taxes to get these intentionally underfunded projects underway and to the point of must finish.
Taxpayers are drained. Enough government is enough!

So-Called “Christian” School Ostracizes Girl Because Mother Is Lesbian
A self-described “Christian” school in California has expelled a 14-year-old girl because her mother is a lesbian. Shay Clark was expelled from Ontario Christian School on Thursday.
“‘Your family does not meet the policies of admission,’ Superintendent Leonard Stob wrote to Tina Clark, the girl’s biological mother.”
http://aolsvc.news.aol.com/new.....1409990005
Apparently the school is catching a lot of flak, because the superintendent, Mr. Leonard Stob, has already posted a statement about the incident on the school’s web site as follows:
“Thank you for your inquiry regarding a student that had been enrolled at Ontario Christian School. The student is not attending Ontario Christian, because the family does not meet admissions criteria. The ministry of Ontario Christian is to promote discipleship of Jesus Christ as defined by the Bible and consistent with historical Christianity. The school forms a voluntary partnership with parents who seek the same discipleship. Therefore, the school requires that at least one parent be a confessing Christian and active in the local Christian church. In this case, the parent does not meet the criteria by participating in a homosexual relationship. We regret that this relationship was not disclosed at the time of admission, as that information would have prevented enrollment and the occasion for misunderstanding.
“The mission of Ontario Christian School is to provide for the children of Christian parents a Biblically-based, quality education that nurtures students to grow in knowledge, conviction, and maturity; therefore, our focus is to equip students with the vision and skills to engage all relationships and culture under the authority of Jesus Christ.”
Huh??? Since when is expelling a student because her mother is a lesbian engaging “all relationships and culture?”
Although Mr. Stob says the mother’s relationship wasn’t disclosed when the girl applied for admission, his statement leaves important questions unanswered:
Did the school ask for this information?
How long has the girl attend the school?
The latter is important because, if the girl has attended the school for a number of years, the burden on the girl will be much greater than if she is a new enrollee. It’s the school’s responsibility, not the student’s, to make sure students meet the school’s admissions criteria. If, by expelling her, the school is cutting the girl off from long-time friendships with other students and subjecting her to humiliation before her peers, the school’s action is nothing less than child abuse. And the girl is completely innocent — she did nothing wrong. She is being punished for what her mother is.
I suggest every member of the HorsesAss community who is disturbed by the intolerance of this latter-day Cotton Mather write an e-mail to Mr. Stob protesting what the school has done to this girl. His e-mail address is superintendent@ocschools.org. Please feel free to use my e-mail message or modify it as you wish:
“Dear Mr. Stob,
“I am very disappointed in your school’s action of expelling a 14-year-old student because her mother is a lesbian. This act of intolerance is inconsistent with Christian values.
“Your policy is to turn away a child who believes in Christ as her personal savior because you do not approve of the child’s parent. Presumably you would also deny admission to a child, no matter how devout, if the parent was a criminal, drug user, or atheist. This is morally wrong because it punishes the child for the parent’s beliefs, practices, or actions. Children don’t get to choose their parents. Furthermore, in case you haven’t heard, God loves all the children.
“Frankly, I think you should reconsider your policy; or, if you won’t do that, you should remove the word “Christian” from your school’s name and call yourselves “Ontario Schools” because your admission policy certainly is not Christian in nature.
“Sincerely,”
Don’t let these haters get away with this! Give them a piece of your mind! It’s one thing for adults to practice homophobia against other adults — it’s altogether a different thing to practice homophobia against a vulnerable child who isn’t even a homosexual … because the child’s parent is. We have to stop this sort of thing in the bud, before it becomes a common practice or a movement. The way to do this is by unequivocally and noisily expressing our outrage where it counts — to the people guilty of abusing an innocent child because of her parent’s lifestyle. If we do nothing — if these intolerant bigots are allowed to believe this kind of action is somehow acceptabe in our society — they will only be encouraged to spread their hate and intolerance.
Mr. Stob are entitled to believe anything he wants. He can let anyone attend his school that he wants. But he is not entitled to call himself a “Christian” because he is not a Christian — and it’s our duty to tell him so.

Nice job on nailing Irons to the horns of his dilemma, goldy. What a snake. As for SW Airlines and the airport, they should be required to use Sea-Tac. Period, end of paragraph, end of story. It has nothing to do with flight paths. It’s about utilizing assets. Sea-Tac is the commercial airport here and it’s nowhere near fully occupied.
Until the place is fully occupied and cannot be further expanded, it is the only location that commercial traffic should be allowed to use. The facility is financed and maintained with tax money, and it’s clearly in the public interest to fully utilize that asset.
It’s outrageous for anyone to even consider the idea of letting SW move to Boeing Field. They should be told to put up for get out, and if they decide to leave the appropriate response would be to tell them not to let the door him you in the ass on the way out.

I used to be a Goldwater Republican when I was a young bunny. Does that explain anything?
Roger Rabbit spews:
Also — I got mad when these cocksuckers questioned my patriotism because I’m against war, killing, torture, and mayhem! It’s their patriotism that’s in doubt. America’s worst enemy is not a foreign government or even Al Qaida but right wing extremists like Ann Coulter, who wants to put us in “concentration camps” and “execute” us for being liberals. We can’t afford to be polite to people who want to turn our beloved country into a Hitlerian police state — we’ve got to crush these cockroaches before it’s too late!
Mark spews:
Roger: “Looks like Mark left. Appears that candyass had enough of HorsesAss for today.”
Actually, Harvey, unlike you, I have a life.
It is good, however, that the orderlies let you have access to a computer.
“I got mad when these cocksuckers questioned my patriotism because I’m against war, killing, torture, and mayhem!”
Who, exactly, do you mean by “these?” I never said you were against those things. I question your patriotism because you Lefties blame America first and spend the rest of the time excusing those exact actions when performed by radical anti-US groups. In your mind, such actions are justified because you take for granted every damn thing that those who came before you gave their lives for.

A moment of silence please (aka SHUT THE FUCK UP for a second).
Butch from the Little Rascals has passed away.
He was a real prick to Alfalfa…which was good because Alfalfa was a needledick just like you LEFTIST PINHEADS….a complete pansy ass.
Butch however, was a model for the RIGHT. A kickass kind of guy.
OK Roger….you can start spewing your venom again.
Jimmy spews:

I have alot of respect for Goldwater Republicans. I enjoy the fiscal responsibilty that no one since Bill Clinton exercised in the slightest (even he wasn’t that great).
And I am a pretty mellow individual. I think that the rants like all the LEFTIST PINHEAD comment crap folks are just parrots for this psudo republican agenda. They don’t seem to even know what they are promoting. I don’t hate good republicans. I work with one who is the most level headed guy I have met. He is a Pasco City Coucilman and even he sees this strange freak faction within a party he supports. Even keeled guy that sees throught the bullshit. The rest of these freaks are the face of the American Taliban. They can’t even see that “god, guns and gays” were never the real issue that gave them the power they have today. They have been fooled into this by powerful hate speech. I know good republicans that would laugh at some of the crap I read on these threads.

Roger used to be interesting to talk to, but he has gone off the deep end and joined the ranks of donna, lucy, rujax and the rest of the raving, loony Left. They justify their verbal vomit with the third-grader whine of “but… they… did… it… firrrrrrssst!”
As for the Right Wing rants, some are just intended to get under Roger’s furry little pelt. [blowing air kisses at da widdle wabbit]
Other Ranting Righties on here… well, they have more than a little suppressed anger. Probably because they see Lefty protesters screaming profanities and assaulting police and they wish they had an outlet like that. So, they use impolite words.
I once posted a challenge to see if this site could go a dozen comments without a BS post, but it wasn’t possible. Somebody just HAD to pop off with some irrelevant wisecrack.
You want this to be adults and not a
sandlitterbox? Tell Roger (and his friends and alter egos) to knock off the personal attacks and the copy-n-paste-a-thons and we can actually discuss something on here.roger spews:
roger, ya blew it when you pulled the Nazi cord…..surest sign of a left wing nut is to endlessly accuse non lefties of being Nazis. Its like “whaah, i’m mad and can’t express myself properly”…

Roger Rabbit spews:
@64
Are YOU still here? WHY? Haven’t you left yet?
Do you think America is above criticism? Your thin-skinned AWOL president is. He needs 10,000 cops to protect him from 3 protestors with 1 sign. They keep demonstrators 5 miles away so the poor baby’s feelings won’t be hurt!
If America sponsors and arms death squads in countries run by right-wing dictators, then hell yes we should blame America — although frankly I don’t blame America, I blame Republicans. When Democrats run this country, America doesn’t do things like that, or start wars, or kidnap and torture people. America does those things only when shitheads like Ronnie Reagan, Ollie North, Georgy Bush, Donnie Rumsfeld, and Dickhead Cheney run things. We also should blame anti-American pricks like you who enable warmongering etc. by voting for these criminals.
Roger Rabbit spews:

I decline to shut the fuck up because I don’t take orders from scum like you.
Mark spews:

Sorry, but I just can’t envision discussing strict constructionism vs. perceived moral responsibilities with someone posting as “Harry Poon.”
Roger Rabbit spews:

I’m fine with real Republicans. We need Republicans to keep Democrats honest. I don’t want one-party government in this country, not even one-party government by Democrats, but especially one-party government by neo-fascist pseudo-Republicans! I have lots of (real) Republican friends. However, the traitorous anti-American neocon pricks who call themselves Republicans (they’re actually recycled Bolsheviks) aren’t my friends — they’re the enemy of my country, and the enemy of my country is my enemy too.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@67
I’ve never seen a demonstrator assault a cop, but I’ve seen cops assault people who were demonstrating legally and peacefully. Anyone who hides behind a badge to commit violence against people because he doesn’t like their political opinions is a coward and bully. We don’t need assholes like that on our police force. They should be fired, stripped of their pensions, and publicly whipped. Tear gassed, too. See how they like it.
Harry Poon spews:
Can we close the door on the hollow mountain and leave Bush there pretending to be in command?

Reply to 79
What war did Truman start? The North Koreans invaded South Korea, not the other way around.
What war did Kennedy or LBJ start? North Vietnam, and the North Vietnamese-controlled Viet Cong, attacked South Vietnam’s government, not the other way around.
Iraq, on the other hand, did not threaten or attack the U.S. George W. Bush, Republican, attacked Iraq — not the other way around. The American people are still trying to figure out why. The reasons given by Bush change weekly.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@68
I don’t accuse non-lefties of being Nazis, I accuse Nazis of being Nazis. Ann Coulter is a Nazi because she wants to put people in concentration camps and kill them. She says so. She said liberals should be put in “concentration camps” and “executed.” Ann Coulter is a Nazi. Apologists for warmongering and torture are Nazis, too.
Harry Poon spews:
I would say Bush’s reasons change weakly, but frequently.
Mark spews:
Roger @ 76
I have relatives and friends who are currently cops in various parts of Western WA. Lefty protesters most definitely assault cops. Ironically, it is usually at “peace” demonstrations that Lefties go the most wild. It isn’t all candles and Kumbaya any more.
Roger Rabbit spews:

They were the ones responsible for putting the US in the middle of pre-existing conflicts that didn’t pose a direct threat to the US. Nowadays, you peaceniks would have let the Gulf of Tonkin Incident go unanswered. Hell, you’d probably come up with a reason why they were justified!
Harry Poon spews:
Bush is weak.
Roger Rabbit spews:
Akshully Doofus, I didn’t call you a stupid ignorant fuck, I said you’re an “unpatriotic fascist anti-American warmonger who hates our troops and the American flag” http://www.horsesass.org/my-co.....4&c=1. That’s not name calling, it’s just stating facts.
Roger Rabbit spews:

I don’t condone LBJ’s stupidity, but I fail to see how voting for George W. Bush improved things.
Roger Rabbit spews:

Then beat the crap out of them! Throw them in jail! I’m not an anarchist, and have no tolerance for anarchists. I’m not a lefty, either. I have no tolerance for commies, socialists, or makeover bolsheviks who call themselves Republicans. I’m a Democrat. I believe in law and order, and respect for other people’s property, which is more than I can say for the kleptomaniacs running our country.
