Hey, maybe not so many fireworks, OK?

I know actual litigation would drag on and be miserable. But geez. Boeing really deserves a lot harsher punishment than the plea deal they’re likely to take. Honestly, it would be good for company executives to suffer real consequences.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now and get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
Friday
– After having not watched the debate, I am still firmly in the Biden camp.

Jesus, man. SPD arresting people for writing “peaceful protest” and “fuck SPS” in chalk. Of course it’s for their viewpoint rather than some anti-chalk stance. Chalk. Fucking arrested people for goddam chalk at the height of the pandemic. $680,000 seems like a small amount for 4 people.

– When the Biden Administration gives them money to do good things, Seattle will do those good things. Here’s money for small businesses to upgrade appliances.
– Man does Seattle need to get its shit together on road safety.
– Man, Centralia.
– Listen. I’m glad she was actually punished, but stopping off at Starbucks instead of going to a domestic violence call is both surprising and typical for a department that stopped investing adult rape for a while.
– Anyway, please wash your filthy hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
Monday Morning Open Thread
During the campaign, a lot of City Council candidates ran on cliches about taking a hard look at the budget to see what could be cut. They were pretty light on specifics, except maybe exempting police from cuts. But now that they are in power, and trying to make cuts, they are finding that no matter how hard the look, the only programs they come up with are good.
They don’t have a mandate for the actual, specific cuts; just vague promises to cut the bad bits or the waste. Of course, they wouldn’t have a mandate if they lost either.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
Friday Open Thread
– Fucking Donald Goddam Trump. Go to jail.
– Is Diaz’s replacement going to be even worse? Maybe. Good riddance anyway. Hope someone who can take on crooked cops replaces him.
Wednesday Open Thread
Man, the Seattle City Council really thought that they could just roll back gig worker protection and there wouldn’t be any opposition. Conservative as they are, none of the new slate ran on it. They just saw some bullshit on KOMO or whatever.
So whoopsadoodle, there was pushback and now they’re delaying the vote. The bill is bad and unpopular and in a decent society, that would be enough to make sure it stays defeated. But sadly we are going to have to keep vigilant. If you live in Seattle and want to let your City Council member know you oppose this, you can let them know here. I recommend calling, or send a request via US mail, but an email will work.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now and get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
Friday
I have mentioned it over at Bluesky, but in case you aren’t one of the couple dozen people inexplicably following me there: Let The Kids Dance! KUOW’s podcast about the teen dance ordinance is really great. I’m sure it’s the nostalgia, but man it worked on me. Now that it’s done and therefore bingeable, go take it for a whirl. Especially if you grew up in or around Seattle in the 80’s and 90’s.
