But that opportunity was lost by September. And the clean CR pushed through the House marked the moment of Schumer’s miscalculation. His leverage is in the House where 31 Freedumbers plus another dozen affiliates can be pried off, not in the Senate, despite the 60 vote threshold for cloture. But he’s too wedded to the political privileges, traditions and trappings of the Senate to ever see it. And he’s too settled in his political thinking to see how a focus on targeted spending cuts can be used to Democrat’s advantage.
It’s time for him to go. He’s not talented enough for this moment. And barring the miracle “hamburder from heaven” we will be dealing with Fat Hitler for another three years.

But whatever opportunity existed for compromise to preserve core Democratic party goals lay in dividing the House majority against itself. The House minority leader would have a role to play. But the process would begin in the Senate with the leadership controlling the votes needed to invoke cloture and setting the agenda.
And as I’ve already previously pointed out, unilaterally negotiating a deal in the Senate accomplishes nothing if the House can simply refuse to take up the resulting compromise measure. So any negotiated compromise legislation must pass through a discharge petition in the House. That should have been obvious last spring. And a discharge petition requires at least 30 days, and often longer. Schumer needed to be working on dividing the House majority in April. Not in September. He never even considered trading other cuts to win over Freedumb Caucus votes for APTC. He can’t think creatively enough. He’s to old and inflexible in his thinking.
There’s nothing Hakim Jeffries can do about that. With a completely different Senate Democratic leadership willing to work on a creative solution, Jeffries role would have been to rally his own progressive caucus to accept the negotiated cuts in other programs. Since it’s now obvious that was never considered, it’s a non-issue. And the Actual Nazi Fucktard’s stupid comment serves only as another opportunity for him to type the words “black guy” while silently masturbating and choking himself with a belt.
