  • The Seattle Mayor’s race is still too close to call. Aaaaaa.
  • We really need to fix the Federal access to police surveillance data.
  • And speaking of, Redmond stop contracting with Flock Safety.
  • I love the people making whistle kits.
  • With the Trump Administration being little shits about SNAP benefits, today is a good day to donate to the Vashon Food Bank.

The most brutally awkward thing you’ll see today: Condé Nast staffers confront head of HR Stan Duncan over layoffs outside his 34th-floor office.

Four of the employees featured in this exclusive video from the confrontation were then fired for “extreme misconduct.”

And here’s the headline du jour covering it:

Anna Wintour’s elite fiefdom rocked by woke soap opera after trans journalist had nerve to scold executive for firing non-binary ex-lover from Teen Vogue

A little long, if you ask me. I’m more of a “Headless Body Found In Topless Bar” kind of guy.

In her own statement posted to liberal social media Bluesky, Avalle complained that it was a ‘transphobic’ to describe her behavior as aggressive.

She said: ‘I was acting as a union member and concerned employee when I questioned Stan Duncan, well within my rights.

‘I don’t love pointing to my identity, but the company saying that I was behaving ‘aggressively’ when I was calmly asking questions feel like a clear transphobic dog whistle.’

I don’t think tranny dude would be any happier to hear that he behaved like a dick.

Schumer just offered a clean CR with a one year extension of APTC.

    And Republicans said fuck off.

It’s very notable that this is with considerable opposition from among the Democrat’s Senate caucus. But it would have certainly released enough D votes for the measure to reach 60. The biggest sticking point being that a majority of the caucus members do not trust their Republican counterparts to carry this past Fat Hitler’s opposition. And there is a very reasonable worry that without full support of Senate Republicans, Fat Hitler would simply do another pocket recision of the APTC funding. If Senate Republicans can’t find sufficient backbone to stand up and defend their own negotiated deals then they can’t expect anyone to negotiate with them. But Schumer was willing to give it a shot.

    And they are saying no.

They probably won’t get a better offer than this.

At least a one-year extension of APTC would have given Americans a chance to vote in the 2026 mids on whether or not they wan’t to keep them around beyond that. And it would give Republicans an opportunity to communicate their side to their voters in their districts. Republicans who, btw, since passing the billionaire tax cut, have refused to meet with their constituents or talk openly with the media about what they did and what they are doing.

Republicans are just scared to death of voters and democracy.
And that’s ultimately why they have turned to Fat Hitler and fascism instead.

In today’s political news, Republicans are keeping the government shut down to deny health care to millions of Americans, and are going to court to deny food to millions of Americans.

As Tuesday showed, where Republican candidates for dogcatcher, school boards, and Congress lost across the board, Americans are finally realizing the parties aren’t the same and who you vote for matters.

Jobs Friday won’t be happening again this week as the record-long government shutdown has resulted in a lack of official data on the labor market as well as a host of other important indicators.

Had the Bureau of Labor Statistics released its monthly nonfarm payrolls report, economists surveyed by Dow Jones expect it would have shown a decline of 60,000 jobs and an unemployment rate increase to 4.5%.
    >> Considering that all jobs reports are wildly too high and come down even more as better data comes in, should we assume job loses are much worse?

On the troll’s lies about KBJ. “A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.” – Winston Churchill

Justices are assigned to be on “Circuits.” Depending on what state an appeal is coming from, that’s the judge who has to deal with it. KBJ is the First Circuit. So it fell to her to handle it.

In an order late Friday night, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson said the pause will remain in effect until the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issues a judgment on the matter.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson gave her reasoning .. there is a pending order that would possibly be screwed up if she did anything other than a temporary administrative stay. She didn’t rule on the legality of stopping SNAP benefits. Instead, imposed a pause giving the lower court time to weigh the legal arguments.
