It’s primary election season in Washington. Ballots have dropped and that gives you the perfect excuse to mosey on over to the Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally. Yeah…we’ll talk electoral politics.
The Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally meets every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern (2409 10th Ave E, Seattle) starting at 8pm out on the back patio.
Chapters of Living Liberally are all over the place…if you can’t make it to the Seattle chapter, there is probably another chapter nearby.

Mask mandates may be coming back to King County. I think it would be good for public transportation. I mean vaccination and boosters are probably better than masks, but it’s not an either-or situation. So I don’t know enough, but it doesn’t hurt to wear one. I know some of you have glasses or stink breath, but really it’s pretty minimal.
Anyway, push the wire so it fits snuggly against your nose. This way a lot less air will flow, and the mask will work better. It’s also more comfortable.
Anyway, whatever comes of a mask mandate or not, you should wash your hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.

As you probably know from my now rote sign off, I think you should be vaccinated and boosted. It’s one major thing you can do to protect yourself from the symptoms, and probably some of the contagion of COVID-19. So I am glad to see Governor Inslee pushing booster mandates (item two) for state employees. COVID-19 is still deadly and still spreading through the community. So reasonable measures that slow it down and make it manageable are important.
Anyway, don’t wait for the rules to kick in, get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible today.

Good morning. Starbucks is closing several locations. They are claiming that it’s because of crime, because that’s the catchall excuse for anyone in this town deciding to act shitty. It seems more likely that it’s in response to their recent unionization.
Many in the local media are taking Starbucks at their word. This morning, KUOW did a piece on the closure of the 23rd and Jackson location. They mention crime specifically, so it’s not just a general it’s closing story. But nothing about union busting. Sad, guys.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now and get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.

Good morning to everyone except Reagan Dunn. Man. While the rest of King County is helping people come here to get abortions, in the wake of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade. It’s a good thing to do. I hope that the county, and other municipal governments find more ways to act.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.

I am still reading this opinion (.pdf). But this thread about it is a good summary. The Washington State Supreme Court found that you can’t rant about illegal immigrants and building a wall as part of jury selection. It was just horror after horror done to this man to send him to court at all is vile. To also have jury selection go like that. Fuck, man. Fuck.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
