We meet tonight and every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern, 2409 10th Ave E, Seattle. You’ll find us in the back room of the pub or, maybe, out on the back patio. We start at 8:00pm.

Chapters of Living Liberally are all over the place…if you can’t make it to the Seattle chapter, stop by another chapter near you.

    President Donald Trump on Tuesday acknowledged that he could secure the return of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man who was wrongly deported to El Salvador last month but refuses to do so.

    The comments appear to contradict previous remarks made by him and his top aides who say the US does not have the ability to return Abrego Garcia because he is in the custody of a foreign government, despite the Supreme Court’s ruling that the Trump administration must “facilitate” his return.

    “You could get him back. There’s a phone on this desk,” ABC News’ Terry Moran, said to Trump during an exclusive interview that aired Tuesday night. “I could,” Trump replied.

    Pointing to the phone, Moran said: “You could pick it up and with all the power of the presidency, you could call up the President of El Salvador and say, ‘Send him back.’”

    “And if he were the gentleman that you say he is, I would do that,” the president added. “But he is not.”

    “I’m not the one making this decision,” Trump said, adding that he says government lawyers do not want to help bring Abrego Garcia back to the US.

    There are four very notable things about this:

    1. Trump admits he lied about not being able to bring him back.
    2. He is still defying a Supreme Court order.
    3. He’s usurping the function of the courts, and violating the due process clause of the Constitution, by summarily prejudging Garcia’s guilt or innocence of the accusations against him.
    4. He’s blaming all of this on someone else (i.e., “the lawyers”).

    If indeed “the lawyers” in his administration are preventing Garcia’s return in defiance of the courts, that’s a fast track to disbarment. Maybe someone should test this by filing complaints with their respective bar associations.

    Louisiana should be called the “murder state,” as in “state that murders innocent people,” because most of its death row inmates have been exonerated.

    Capital trials in Louisiana are rife with false testimony, prosecutorial misconduct, and incompetent defense attorneys. But the Republicans there want to reverse a law that allows wrongly convicted people to prove their innocence, and rush them into the execution chamber.

    Why? Because Southern Republicans are dirty, shitty, immoral people thugs themselves. Read story here:

    Never forget that every exonerated person freed from Louisiana’s murder mill is matched by others who didn’t get the benefit of counsel. And for each one of all those there are at least ten serving life sentences.

    And every one of them represents an actual murderer that authorities have ignored and left free out in the community to continue committing heinous, violent crimes.

    Police do not do what you think they do.
