Washington State has been partnering with pharmacies to give out N95 masks. But the policy hasn’t been very well publicized. I saw this Tweet back in January. But I never saw a good list of where they’re being handed out, and anyway I had several. But last weekend, I was running low, so I went to my local pharmacy and asked where they were and the lady working there went and grabbed me a handful. I hope that’s been happening throughout the state.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now. Now. And if you aren’t vaccinated, please get vaccinated. If you are eligible for the booster, please make an appointment.

Swing state, but not a swing district, and there’s already a Republican incumbent in what will be the new MI-4, and another Republican incumbent running for the same seat. Other than that, as long as people with ties to #CrookedHillary keep dying in suspicious circumstances, the GOP will keep pointing it out. Nobody with any real clout from the Democrat party has come out publicly and told the Clintons that they have been disastrous for the Democrat party, and that they both should have sat down and STFU many years ago. Until that happens, #CrookedHillary is red meat for the GOP.

No sign Elena Kagan, Clarence Thomas will recuse on health care law
By JOSH GERSTEIN 11/14/2011 12:06 PM EST
When the Supreme Court announced Monday that it will review President Barack Obama’s health care reform law this term, Justice Elena Kagan gave no indication that she will recuse herself from the cases the court plans to hear.
My colleague Ben Smith notes that Justice Clarence Thomas faced similar calls to recuse from the same cases, based on his wife’s work opposing the law. There was also no sign today that Thomas plans to accede to those wishes

Vicious Troll spews:
@ 13
Name one case in which you think Thomas should recuse that is anywhere near the importance of the Obamacare cases.
Kagan recused in, like, half of the first 50 cases to come before the Court after she was confirmed, because she was involved. It was only the Obamacare case that magically the White House’s top attorney had zero involvement in, if Democrats be believed. What are the odds?
This recusal stuff is generally silly. Like allegations that Alito was dirty because he didn’t recuse in Vanguard cases because he owned some shares in Vanguard mutual funds. Silly.
What is different about the Kagan/Obamacare situation is 1) the sheer magnitude of Obamacare’s impact on the US economy and 2) Kagan worked directly on Obamacare when the concept was being developed. There was no arm’s length explanation – she was directly involved with its creation.
I only bring this up because you brought it up, Bozo Newt.
RedReformed spews:
@11. Since Bob think Amy Coney Barrett with just three years on the Seventh Circuit has the qualifications to be a Supreme court Judge.
U.S. District Court Judge J. Michelle Childs – 12 years. She previously served as a state circuit court judge based in Columbia, South Carolina.
U.S. Appeals Court Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson – District court for the District of Columbia for 9 years and Court of appeals about a year.
California Supreme Court Justice Leondra Kruger – 8 years.
All of these women have more experience than Amy Coney Barrett and since Bob thinks Amy Coney Barrett is qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice, these candidates are qualified.
Newt Hoenikker spews:

Vicious Troll spews:

How many years of judicial experience did Elena Kagan have before Barack nominated her?
How about former CJ William Rehnquist before Dick Nixon nominated him?
Qualifications have many forms. Not all of them are years on the bench.
Sri Srinivasan has argued 25 cases before the Supreme Court. He has served as Principal Deputy Solicitor General. Before that he clerked for AJ Sandra Day O’Connor. He has been a lecturer at Harvard Law School, and has been recognized with an award from GWB43’s Department of Defense.
The problem you created for yourself, The Even Bigger Fucking Moron, is that by attempting to demonstrate that Coney Barrett is inferior to two potential Biden nominees, what you did at the same time is allow me to demonstrate that each of these potential nominees is inferior to Sri Srinivasan.
Which has been my point, all along. I appreciate you giving me the opportunity to make it once again.
Newt Hoenikker spews:

RedReformed spews:
I asked “Regardless of Sri Srinivasan’s qualifications, do you think Amy Coney Barrett has the qualifications to be a Supreme court Judge?”
He said “Yes.”
Since the greedy racist incel said Amy Coney Barrett was qualified to be a SC judge, the other three were also qualified because they have more years on the bench and just as a diverse set of judicial experiences.
Because they are equal or more qualified as Barrett, and Barret was chosen over Sri Srinivasan,
therefore the three justices defined can be chosen over Sri Srinivasan.
If Democrats do the same thing, they could, because that’s how republicans do it. And that’s what the greedy racist incel agreed with.

“’With this in mind, it’s clear to see how sanctioning Russian energy exports to both Europe and the rest of the world would mean mutually ensured destruction of economic growth and government budgets,’ he said.
“’Sanctions on Russian oil and gas would mean higher energy prices the world over,’ Vincent said, but noted that China’s pipeline infrastructure linking it with Russia and Beijing’s willingness to ignore U.S. sanctions put the country in a unique position.
“’China is likely the only major nation globally that could benefit from such sanctions, as they would likely increasingly soak up discounted Russian volumes,’ Vincent said.”

This wasn’t a protestor altercation.”
“We were alone. We were targeted. She was wearing a dress, I was wearing a high visibility vest. My currently paralyzed friend is five feet tall. So tiny. So hopelessly outmatched by his size and violence. June put herself between our sweet, tiny friend and this monster,”
Almost everything police, badge bunnies, and Proud Boys had to say about this shooting in Sunday and Monday was a lie. The county prosecutor has since confirmed Beck’s description of the attack after reviewing the video. Having been immediately informed by his room mate that the shooter kept a large collection of firearms and other weapons, PPB knowingly left a massive arsenal of illegal weapons unsecured in the apartment for two days.
Whether by malign intent or sheer incompetence the Portland Police engaged in a cover up of a Proud Boy inspired mass shooting.

You are a fool. Because of Trump, we’re now split internally and from our allies. Even though Trump didn’t get a second term (thank god!), he gave Vlad so much more than Vlad ever expected.

In for a penny, I guess.
Here’s what you might be buying into.
Russian military commanders have spend the last three months bucking up miserable deployed troops with tales about Ukrainian “Nazis” who hate Russia, and glorious stories about the Great Patriotic War. You, being a complete fucking idiot, wouldn’t comprehend what that implies to an average Russian soldier. Thirty million Russians died. Every Russian family has at least one old framed photo of their family hero along with the stories. It wasn’t just the troops. Russian civilians starved to death in the millions. They ate pets. They resorted to cannibalism.
A full scale invasion like this of a populous, advanced, modern European economy would always produce some atrocities and war crimes. There’s a real risk this could become a civilian bloodbath. And Republicans are siding with the war criminals.
There’s lots to lose.

Survivors of a Deadly Attack on a Portland Protest Were Victimized Twice: First by the Gunman, Then by the Police
https://theintercept.com/2022/02/23/portland-protest-shooting/
It’s a pretty different story than what the police were pushing well into Tuesday.
The police had footage of the incident almost immediately but still portrayed the narrative as a homeowner vs protestors that continued well into Tuesday.
The footage clearly shows that this was as unprovoked attack and the protestor who shot the suspect was acting in self defense.
The victims were unarmed and the person who shot the suspect came to them as things began escalating.
The police knew who the shooter was that night and interviewed his roommate.
Multiple people warned the PPB that Benjamin Smith was becoming increasingly unhinged and violent and were essentially told to stop telling them.

Puts the debate about Portland Police Bureau funding and oversight into a very different light.
It’s impossible for elected officials tasked with overseeing Portland Police to know for sure why their police response to gun violence is so incompetent, and so unprofessional. But because the operation and command of the police bureau is so entirely opaque Grey’s law must be invoked: Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice.
Not one single penny of taxpayer funding should go to police who continue to insist on operating outside of normal accountability.

QoS McHillbilly, please clarify what you believe is the effort by PBB to hide/protect the all-but-confirmed guilty shooter, Ben Smith.
Shootings happened Saturday night. By Tuesday affadavits alleging second degree murder and other charges were filed with the county, in time for stories to be written and posted on line before 5 pm that day.
So inside of two workdays, an investigation of the shooting resulted in 2nd degree murder charges. I understand the unhappiness that he was referred to initially as a homeowner, but that’s not the same as referring to him as an aggrieved victim. Why is two days too long, when the PBB maintained all along that evidence had been inappropriately removed from the crime scent, to a point that even resulted in a victim making a public appeal for the missing evidence to be returned to the PBB?
Why so unhappy, Cupcake? You got your Murder Two charge.

Given that today’s low was 32,272, does anyone think that it is not likely that the DJIA will soon drop to 31,000 or thereabouts?
From that point, same question about a drop to 30,000.
We’re in a period of wild intraday swings. A bomb hits the wrong site in Chernobyl and radiation plumes start drifting to Finland again, and we’ll see even more wild swings.

Elijah SFA McDotcom spews:
I’ll let the shooter’s family answer:
“Your police department in Portland sucks.”
Portland police spent the first two days immediately following a white supremacist terror attack investigating the unprovoked attack as “a dispute between a neighboring homeowner and armed street radicals”. They initially ignored and rejected evidence and eyewitness testimony that did not confirm their initial false framing of the attack. They waited more than 48 hrs to bother to return multiple voice messages and emails from people most closely associated with the shooter. They continued to promote a false narrative that witnesses to the shooting had obstructed justice and/or destroyed evidence at the scene.
Proud Boy/Patriot Prayer white nationalists have been terrorizing Portland for too long. And they’ve been aided and assisted in that by members of the Portland Police Bureau. PPB simply doesn’t want to investigate the origins of so much of the city’s wave of violence:
https://www.wweek.com/news/courts/2022/02/22/brother-of-max-train-murderer-jeremy-christian-is-suspected-in-feb-16-fatal-shooting-in-north-portland/

Did he take state secrets home with him?
Roger Rabbit spews:
@125 Well, first off, I question the “Two” after “Murder” because this asshole clearly premeditated what he was about to do. You don’t need a .45 handgun to “ask someone to leave.” Nor is shooting an unarmed woman directing traffic in the head an off-the-cuff kind of thing.
Secondly, it wasn’t the cops who brought charges, the D.A. did, after reviewing irrefutable evidence this was a crime. The cops made no arrest, and brought no charges, against an individual who shot five people, all of whom were unarmed. Their reluctance to arrest and chart a mass shooter who shot up a peaceful BLM protest was palpable after 24 hours, and blatant after 48 hours. The D.A. took decision-making out of their hands.
And then you have the lying press conference in which the chief tried to paper over police inaction by falsely labeling this mass shooting as a “confrontation between a homeowner and protesters” and calling it a “complicated investigation” and pretending they didn’t know anything because “witnesses left the scene.” (At a dead run, so they wouldn’t get shot too?)
And you had the cops saying as little as possible about this mass shooting and trying to change the subject to other other shootings that were ordinary crimes, not politically motivated acts of terrorism like this one was.
It’s pretty fucking obvious what’s going on to anyone who has eyes and a thinking mind.

OK Bob, since you are cheering on Putin and Trump (with Trump’s man-crush on Putin), what would have Trump done differently to prevent Putin from invading Ukraine?
I think the reason Trump has been fundraising so much recently is not for a run in 2024 (he may well do it if he isn’t compromised as a Russian asset), is to be able to pay off off some of his personal debts because he knew Putin would invade and Russian banking would be sanctioned by the West. Now maybe Trump can slither past another bankruptcy due to his friend Putin pulling the trigger on Ukraine.
You rail non-stop against Biden and his family, you always forget the Trump crime family and their deep association with Russian.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@127 The Dow is down 2004 points from Dec. 6. that’s a 5.7% decline, not a 10% decline. If you look at a chart, the Dow trended up from there until mid-January, then dipped — not corrected, but dipped — while omicron was peaking, then began rising again until war fears began taking hold in mid-February markets and pushed it down into another — so far — dip.
Back on Dec. 6, the Russian buildup on Ukraine’s border was just beginning, was barely in the news, and neither I nor you expected a war. What we did expect was an omicron peak in January, gradual Fed tightening, and possibly some minor multiple compression, but no recession. Corrections are almost always associated with recessions.
Your wild guess of a 10%-15% correction was just that, a wild guess, and not one supported by logic. It was going to take a black swan to make it happen. Here’s your black swan, but even given this war, we’re still waiting for your correction to happen.

Dialed into Rachel Maddow, the closest person this generation has to Walter Cronkite. She told about what the Russians were doing and how Putin could fail and be beaten. She talked about the courage of the Ukrainians and how the military, while vastly out numbered, would likely be a real problem for Russian. She talked about how Biden and NATO had for options to hurt Putin. She talked the NBC’s senior foreign correspondent, Richard Engel who in the field.
During the commercial breaks, I went over to Fox. Tucker was giving full throated aid and comfort to Moscow. Bragging at how strong and effective the Russians army is. Biden was incompetent and didn’t give enough support to Ukraine and yet Biden would be incompetent if he did anything to challenge Russia. Fox apparently didn’t have a foreign correspondent in the field, instead Tucker chatted with a freelance journalist with an Australian accent who sounded like Buck, voiced by Simon Peg from Ice Age 3. Tucker was awkward when the guy dropped that he left the military after getting a brain tumor.

“Daniel Rothkopf, who was a senior trade official in the Clinton administration, said the Biden administration is moving forward with persuading its fellow allies to take more severe actions. The sanctions imposed Thursday, he said, were ‘the best deal that was available to them, and it’s a deal that is very significant.
Everybody, at a moment like this, wants to appear as tough as they can be,’ Rothkopf said. … ‘It would be nicer to do more sanctions. 139,
He’s a degenerate gambler masquerading as day trading market timer.
He’s spent three months revising this prediction against the actual market performance because he knows it was a very bad bet that would have produced substantial losses. A full quarter of steady and significant losses that he is not, and will not account for on the day (if it ever comes) when the market drops below 31122. Like any true degenerate gambler, when he finally hits after months of losing, he will explode up from the table spilling drinks and knocking back chairs, and screaming triumphantly waiving his “winnings” above his head and laughing like an hysterical lunatic.
He lives for that brief moment, that irrational endorphin rush arising from faulty brain wiring. You can see it even now at 126, 127, as he expresses both satisfaction and accomplishment that finally after months of desperate waiting, the Dow briefly dropped “close” to his target bet. A horse that loses by a nose still loses. But the degenerate gambler brain experiences that “almost win” as “success”. The casino is literally designed and built from the ground up around this little tiny defect in the degenerate brain. Every bell, every flashing light, every cartoon dollar sign.
This is one of Bob’s most embarrassing performances I’ve seen since I started following the blog. He’s never exposed his inner weaknesses so nakedly before. And he undoubtedly isn’t even aware. He truly does see himself as “winning” this moment. And there’s just no telling how much he’s lost over the last quarter having committed himself to this erroneous timing strategy. He may have lost nothing. Because he may have nothing to lose.
