More crackerjack reporting from the Seattle Times:
Burner kicked off her campaign in May by publishing a plan to end the war in Iraq.
In fact, Darcy kicked off her campaign the previous year, and the Responsible Plan was actually published in March. Heffter and the Times may not have been paying any attention to Darcy before May of 2008, but that doesn’t mean her campaign didn’t exist.
Geez… if the Times can’t get simple things right, like, you know, undisputed facts, then how can we trust their reporting on anything?
UPDATE:
In the comment thread, Daniels asks if Heffter is “lying.” Hmm. I dunno… maybe it’s just an exaggeration?
blue john spews:
I don’t read the times anymore.
Daniel K spews:
Was that a mistake, or was it a lie? When a reporter lies do they lose credibility? Seems that when it comes to the Seattle Times you just don’t know what to believe about what they write.
Tlazolteotl spews:
It’s like the reporters or editors don’t even care anymore. And they wonder why people are moving towards getting more and more info from bloggers.
Truth Teller spews:
I should know this, but I don’t… does King County publish their day’s counting all at once at some point at the end of the day? Pierce is updating the counts every so often today, but King’s seems to be frozen from last night.

“if the Times can’t get simple things right”
ummm… i’d suggest they’re actually good at “simple” its the “right” part of anything they have trouble with
YLB spews:
4 – The publishing schedule is on their website.

3:00 pm and 11:30 pm today.

If only the Seattle Times had said Burner’s spent the last two years doing nothing but running for office, that would have put her in a better light with her district?
‘Stabbed in the back by the media’, isn’t that what the _right wing_ kooks usually say?
Chris Y. spews:
I am “this close” to dumping my Times subscription (20 years). It has been building over time with the bogus Burner non-story questioning her education almost sending me over the edge.

@ 9
The number is 206/464-2121. Go ahead. I just did. You’ll feel good that you did.
TroyJMorris spews:
I keep getting those free trials and free gifts to the PI and then canceling after a couple weeks.
I would keep it going, but you know the Times gets more of that money than they should.
Daniel K spews:
Want to have fun? Click on all those Reichert banner ads and cause the AGC PAC folks to have to pay more for them, or for their quota to be used up so we don’t have to see them anymore.
Daniel K spews:
King County reports early. Burner trims deficit to 614 votes.
Paulinballard spews:
As to Goldy’s update…
What exactly is the difference between lying and exaggerating?
Are they not one and the same until one is caught red handed and rather than admit to being a liar, you just admit to exaggerating?
kirkregard spews:
Just admit it, you’re just pissing and moaning because WA08 rejecting Marcy is really WA08 rejecting YOU because after all, ‘she is one of you’ according to your own words.
You can’t stand rejection (see failed marriage, any sucessful Eyeman initiative, rich people, the seattle times, etc) and blogging is less about ideas than it is about ego with you.
pathetic
Paulinballard spews:
kirkregard…
Seriously man, grow up.
You wanna abuse this guy for a failed marriage?
Divorce happens, stop acting like a child.
kirk91 spews:
Stop acting like a child and go back to blaming the Seattle Times for Darcy’s failures as a candidate.
paulinballard spews:
First off, Darcy is not even in my district, chances are she does not represent you either. Also, I don’t like Darcy nor would I vote for her if I had the opportunity.
However, the vindictive crap coming out of transcends political debate. It’s personal, cutting and out of line.
Proud to be SeattleJew Today spews:
I like Darcy and contributed money and some time. That said, whether she makes it or not, the lesson is one I have harped on before. For all Goldy’s applause for the Responsible Plan, she bet the whole house of what now looks like a grandiose effort. While she did get slimed by the Times, the effort would have been and could have been a lot more successful is she had showed a lot more interest in local WA-08 issues.
If she does win, Darcy needs to start running for 10 now and to do that as a Congressman she NUST focus on more local issues than the war.
Let us pray to el Shaddai.
uptown spews:
for Paulinballard
What exactly is the difference between lying and exaggerating?
lying: marked by or containing falsehoods : false (a lying account of the accident)
exaggerating
1 : to enlarge beyond bounds or the truth : overstate (a friend exaggerates a man’s virtues — Joseph Addison)
2 : to enlarge or increase especially beyond the normal :
paulinballard spews:
uptown, take it a step further and the line is fuzzier.
Lying:
1. a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.
2. something intended or serving to convey a false impression; imposture: His flashy car was a lie that deceived no one.
Exaggerate:
1. to magnify beyond the limits of truth; overstate; represent disproportionately: to exaggerate the difficulties of a situation.
kirk91 spews:
Actually I do live in the district Darcy hopes to represent. I think it’s funny to call someone out on being childish, when the post was started with a(nother) blame the Seattle Times fest from Goldy. It seems childish to me to blame others instead of looking to the Burner campaign for faults there.
Steve spews:
I take it that Puddy is just too much the coward to show up today. I figured as much. It’s gotta suck to be him.
notaboomer spews:
goldy merely pointed out the inaccurate reporting of one heffter. note that heffter was able to articulate burner’s degree with accuracy now that the votes have been cast. wasn’t so hard, was it? the sea times plays loose with the facts in some race every election and if you don’t admit that, you are either stupid or lying. but the sea times transgression would not have mattered if the tv stations did not loan the massive air time to reichert as josh has reported here.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@9, 10 – I did something better than canceling a Times subscription. I never subscribed in the first place, and filed a harassment complaint with the state attorney general’s consumer protection division because their telemarketers refused to stop calling me. The calls were so frequent and persistent that I asked the AG to bring a criminal prosecution against the Times for extortion and racketeering. The AG got on their ass and that stopped ’em in their tracks.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@23 You can hope he did the honorable thing (seppuku) but I’m sure he doesn’t have that much honor or enough guts (pun intended) and will be back after getting out of traction. He was run over by a train on Tuesday.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@15 Rejection is small potatoes! How does REPUDIATION feel, wingnut?

All Facts Support My Positions spews:
Goldy. The times was far too busy trying to sandbag her campaign. They have no time to actually report anything about her.
By the way. When their employees call me, I do my best to let them know how I feel about right wing newspapers. It ain’t pretty.
I am surprised they didn’t endorse Ted Stevens.
