De-energizing the trolley overhead for construction purposes is like a version of call before you dig, plus for no public works projects, the contractor puts down a $1000 deposit. Not sure about the progress of the battery upgrade on the trolleys, but it’s a frustrating that they have the capability fot off wire, but not used. Also, same with three suburban routes whose weekday schedules are covered by Gillig Low Floor Plus battery electrics, 105, 128, and 184. Seems they are a little more reliable than other battery buses tried, don’t know if the fact that the delivery from the Livermore, California facility is in essence a 1000 mile test drive.

    Beginning with the start of the Dumbfuck War inventories immediately went into steep decline and today are just above JPMorgan’s estimated operational stress level of 7.6 billion barrels, at which point demand reductions of 5.6 million barrels per day are assumed given the current restrictions.

    The decline in inventory has no historical precedent, so JPMorgan is relying on historical data about previous supply restrictions to project market responses using conservative models. However, given the rate of inventory depletion since the start of the Dumbfuck War, JPMorgan projects inventories to fall below 6.8 billion barrels before September, reaching their estimated Operational Floor Level – below which pipelines and refineries cease to function and suffer permanent damage.

    So the “good” news is that current skyrocketing gasoline and diesel prices are owing almost entirely to speculation and supply hoarding. But that’s also the really bad news. Because the current price increases are not expected to abate as summer travel kicks into gear. Those increases are projected to worsen enough to induce demand reductions beginning by the end of this month. And yet the real price shocks are not due for another three months.

Those sources are drying up. Allowing for the Persian Gulf oil bypassing or leaking through the strait, the world eventually will face a 10% to 15% imposed reduction in consumption. This can happen in several ways: Rationing, pricing, or product unavailability (which is already happening with jet fuel). Paying $6, $8, $10, or $15 a gallon won’t fill your tank if the oil feedstocks into refineries don’t exist. Things could get quite ugly by this fall if the spigots don’t turn back on.

    This reasoning about calls for Democrats to move to the right in order to “win” holds pretty well for all kinds of other policies, including even immigration.

    It’s essential to understand that what Democratic campaigns choose to talk about to the voters really matters. Choosing to emphasize the culture wars shit fights that Republicans center their messaging around is a huge mistake. Of course Republicans and their media servants are going to push Democrats to respond to their chosen “moral crisis” issues. And whenever that happens Democrats should be firmly supportive of their constituencies and their principles. And whenever current events push these questions into the mainstream of political and social debate Democrats should be prepared to stake out leadership positions.

    But the plain fact is that seeking to pickup votes from Republican voters by catering to their irrational fears, bigotries, conspiracy theories, and degenerate shibboleths is demonstrably proven to be useless, for the very reasons described in this short video.

    The last three Republican presidential nominating contests have pretty ably demonstrated where these voters are at mentally, and psycho-socially. They are a full-blown shit show of execrably irredeemable human failures promising only to spread a deadly cultural contagion of cult-like delusions among all other voters.

    Every so-called “moderate” Republican has been absolutely bulldozed into irrelevancy by these voters for more than twelve years. We can hardly even remember that any Bushs still exist, much less that JEB! was simply curb stomped into oblivion by a campaign promising to “lock up” all opposing candidates if elected and seek to impose an authoritarian kleptocracy.

    Democrats will not pickup any significant numbers of Republican voters in swing states or districts by betraying their principles to “compromise” with lunatics. But they will destroy their own turnout.
