  35. Florida Rep. Cory Mills was named in an arrest warrant issued today for some kind of violent assault that took place last week at the luxury penthouse apartment where Mills stays in DC. The 27-year-old victim was not the 54 year old Representative’s wife who is at their family home in Orlando.

    Metro DC Police however were unable to execute the warrant when it was discovered that the US Attorneys at DOJ had declined to sign the warrant.

    Do I need to tell anyone what party Rep. Mills belongs to?

    Sources familiar with how cases are handled say this type of back-and-forth is not uncommon and may never result in charges.

    If only prosecutorial misconduct were isolated to Oklahoma we could all relax and forget about it.

    But hundreds sit wrongfully convicted on death rows all over the US because of the casual routine of prosecutorial misconduct. Brady violations, Batson violations, and Napue violations are so common and rampant in many jurisdictions that it’s a miracle that any of those put to death are guilty at all. And that’s before we ever grapple with the even more routine misconduct of police officers lying on affidavits, coercing false testimony, and destroying evidence before prosecutors even see the file.
