The Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally meets tonight (and every Tuesday), 8PM at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E.
I’ll be there tonight, looking for some hoppy beer and some hopped up conversation. So be there, or be… uh… elsewhere.

I no longer use Twitter or Facebook because Nazis. But until BlueSky is bought and enshittified, you can still follow me at @goldyha.bsky.social
Moonbats – As I’ve said before, please be sure to ride Metro to DL tonight. Especially now, it would be almost unthinkable to burn gasoline.
Hey Wabbit – Didja see the invisible hand today? Isn’t that amazing? Oil price down 4 bucks to 66 on news of oil and gas being released from reserves.
And you didn’t hafta lift a paw.
That whole supply/demand/price thing. It’s a fucking miracle…
MTR @2,
How the FUCK is that the invisible hand? The federal government buys up a large reserve of oil, with our tax dollars, and then releases it to the market when prices are high to force the price down… and that’s the invisible hand?
Sheesh! That’s not the invisible hand… that’s central planning.
I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, I’m just saying that it’s not the invisible hand. This is government manipulating markets. Invisible hand… my ass!
Lefties; i’d almost show up if you could give me a single bus that would get me from say Factoria to your watering hole. Gotchas are a) have to have a seat i can sit in, b) I won’t make 5 transfers, c) bus have to leave within 2 min of scheduled departure time
Makes it easy not to attend..
Would have been a good topic two weeks ago:
http://www.rasmussenreports.co.....er%206.htm
Better stick with Katrina this week.
I’m going for the first time to DL tonight. What’s it like? Is it useful for a newbie who doesn’t know anyone there?
Goldy @ 3
‘Sheesh! That’s not the invisible hand… that’s central planning.’
We need to know more about both supply and demand to judge. I know many people who stayed home for the holiday due to gas prices.
RO @ 4
Why would you want to come to a DL event? Besides, I would be more concerned with moving out of that shithole Factoria than with taking the bus to Liberalfest ’05
t @ 6
You should go, it rocks, it’s the fucking bomb
Righty with the glib one-liner that pose for arguments @ 4
clueless, still
Was a comment about the crappy transit system you communists insist on making me pay for. Imagine how bad Southwest air would be if you all made that taxpayer owned…

That’s a red state paradise for you – plenty of executions and no income tax even.
@2
No, it’s socialism at work! See post #3.
Clueless @ 13
‘..plenty of executions and no income tax even.’
Not to mention open arms for 250,000 Katrina victims. How many for WA? 2000.
@4
We do our best to accomodate everyone — big tent theory — but I just don’t think Metro has a bus with seats wide enough for your fat ass. Maybe we could strap you to the bicycle rack on the front bumper.
And then drive the bus into a tree.
Mrs. Rabbit says, “What about the tree?” I told her we can sacrifice 1 tree for a good cause.
@7
Yeah, the streets were empty this weekend. Nothing like $3 gas to encourage conservation. I’ll bet the streets are REALLY empty in Atlanta, where gas sells for $5-$6.
Roger Rabbit attends DL very infrequently and never announces his appearances in advance due to traffic and security problems caused by the crush of papparazzi and admiring fans.
@ 14
So why aren’t you there Larry?
Clueless and Roger
Thanks for confirming why Metro is worthless. To get to Jilly’s (i recall the good old days) I gotta walk almost 1/2 a mile in a parking lot, the then ride a bus for 50 minutes. Then getting home, i gotta walk back up to 520 (not fun if it were raining) for another 50 minute ride (with fun 20 minutes in some transit cetner in bellevue.
If I knew the buses left on time, i might expose myself to the commensurate personal risk of being at a bus stop at 10:30 at night, but of course that 10:27pm bus might leave then, or might be 10 or more min late.
Even if I had an office right at Factoria, I think i’d still drive…isn’t that logical?
I expect to be there late, if at all. Meeting of unknown duration begins at 7pm. OTOH, perhaps I can drag some of the meeting attendees along with me.
@22
Poor baby! I rode buses in this town for 21 years.
Don’t drink the Kool-Aid.
Roger, if riding a bus will turn me into you, that’s just another reason to keep sending my petrodollars to the sheiks..
Goldy and Rabbit…….driving their Volvos [only black Democrats ride the bus]. Gasoline: 3 bucks a gallon. Bottled French Evian: 3 bucks a quart. Dinner and drinks: 75 dollars a person Democrat tip: 3% Finding someone else [other people’s money] to pay the tab: PRICELESS!!
Oh Goldy, How many “people of New Orleans” color will be dining with you tonight? [hehe]
Will Teddy “Oldsmobile” [D-Chevas] be attending, or is he still helping to bus New Orleans homeless to their new permanent home in Cape Cod?
Righton Sponsors Terrorists @26
And I’m sure you know what the sheikhs do with your money, you America-hating fascist!
I heard that when the rabbit dies they are going to bury him with his ass sticking out of the ground so they can use him as a bike rack
Now that Stefan has “outed” me as Dean Logan blogging on a King County computer,* it’s time to check up on him again. You see, Stefan signed up to be a poll worker — which makes me, Dean Logan, director of King County elections, his supervisor.
(* Disclaimer — I’m not Dean Logan, but I decline to argue the point with Stefan, who is never one to worry about factual accuracy.)
“Uh-oh, what have we here, Stefan says “Dean Logan is in violation of the Public Disclosure Act again, this time stonewalling King County GOP Chairman Michael Young” and links to the following letter:
“August 19, 2005
Dear Director Logan,
Enclosed is a copy of your response letter to me dated August 2, 2005. In this letter you stated it would take approximately 10 days to assemble Items 1-3 of my request and at that time you would be contacting me to arrange for payment before the copying phase could begin.
Since it has been fifteen days since your letter was written and I have not received any notification, I am writing again to ask for the date when the copying of my request will begin.
Thank you for your prompt response to this matter.
Sincerely,
Michael Young
Chairman”
Hey Stefan — he has to pay first, dummy! Also, RCW 42.17.350 only requires KCRE to give him “a reasonable estimate” of how much time the agency needs “to assemble the information requested” or otherwise respond to the request. An “estimate” is an approximation not a firm deadline, stupid!
It’s hard to believe Stefan is really this ignorant of the law. Frankly, I think he’s harassing Dean Logan. I wonder if he’s searching Logan’s garbage can looking for empty wine bottles and maybe even stalking him, too. With this dork, anything might be possible.
Don’t hold your breath. The Rabbit doesn’t die easy, and will go down shooting with his boot on.
@ 26
Who in turn sends them to OBL. Thanks, wrong one.
Re: the bus. You don’t have to start at the mall. For some reason when I think Factoria, I think the mall.
clueless; i picked the mall to make it easier, and also to not type my home address. Getting there from home or office is even more complicated.
@31
Try using a map.
Roger; you mean a nice map with clear bus schedules like i used in Paris, or these crappy ones you get here that are written in ancient aramaic?
31 – then park and ride.
Righton @ 4
Quit your bitching. I gave you an opportunity to choose a place for us Drinking Liberally folks to go for one week, and you told us that your wife won’t let you out of the house.
Here’s the comment to refresh your memory.
I gotta wimp out and fail on the bar thing. I had a political jab; which was to say you guys are live in Fremont and frequent fun, slightly shabby, hip bars and not “common man” bars. but I cannot think of a closeby bar that would resemble common man? lake city way (yipes), 99 north of greenlake? double yipes. Anywhere in Kent or Burien or Monroe i guess would do.
More politically, thought you’d wanna go to some strip mall bar in Issaquah or Sammamish (nothing scary except you might get lost or run out of gas) and hang w/ the red state folks.
Thanks for the invite. My hall pass got revoked a while back; i drink my six pack 1 beer a night at home.
Jackass.

Listen to Mr. Cynical! Mr. Cynical is wise. He speaks from experience.

a) no such thing as a Park and Ride direct to Montlake ale house or whatever its now called
b) thehim; yeah i know i’m welcome and you guys are only jerks on the blogs, but i have better things to do (i don’t even have time for friends, let alone newly found friends/communists
c)I don’t need a map, I need a nice bus schedule. You should take a research trip to Paris and see how easy it is. You could piss on the street, eat good food, and see a better grade of woman than in Wallingford.
Goldy @ 3 – It wasn’t just Murka’s SPR. Many countries in Europe and Asian released some of their reserves. If I remember correctly, I think Kuwait also released some gasoline. The market conditions were right for the central planners to release some supply in response to the demand. That’s still the invisible hand of free market economics at work… doesn’t have to be new wells and new refineries to bring more product to market in the short term.
MTR; good luck on educating them
by the way …you libs will be getting subsidized beer tonight, right? Grain is cheaper to the yuppie brewer cuz of USDA subsidies? I”m paying for your drinking…
43 – Bush signed a pretty odious Farm Bill to secure red state support for his re-election. Don’t forget the steel tarrifs for WV – quite a believer in free markets there, right MTR?
Goldy @ 3 (more)… and think about it… gummint made PROFIT on sale of oil from SPR. They dollar cost averaged into oil market and sold at a high. That’s free market econ. Beautiful eh? The invisible hand is there working and you moonbats don’t hafta do anything. Wabbit can sleep. Heath doesn’t have to coerce people to work 4 days or carpool. The rest of you don’t have to worry. Free markets work every time before you guys can even get organized. Wow….
Geeesh…. I was just wishing I could come have a beer. Too far to drive from the (far) east side and dang long ride home.
Mark TR…. prozac? anything to settle you down would be good. Honestly! You are far to angry (and not the only one).
@22
Whose fault is it that you live on the east side? Gonna blame that on the mayor of New Orleans too?
@41
Quit making excuses and just drive your goddam car to Montlake. That’s what the car is for.
@42
Oh, so now Mr. Mark “Adam Smith” Redneck admits the “invisible hand” of the “free” market sits on gasoline until The Hand can sell it for $3 a gallon? Just what we thought all along the fascist oil capitalists were doing …
@43
“I”m paying for your drinking…”
If I knew you were paying, I’d drink the place dry.

Following our earlier survey on Sheehan, many of her supporters e-mailed to suggest that there must be something wrong with the way we asked the question. For both surveys, the question wording was very straightforward–“Do you have a favorable or an unfavorable opinion of Cindy Sheehan.” The question before it was “How closely have you followed news stories about Cindy Sheehan, the woman who was protesting the war along the road to President Bush’s ranch?”
“Supporters” are obviously of the jock-strap variety.
Righton – So all told you’d end up spending about 3 hours door to door to get from eastside to DL. You could drive it in a nice luxury SUV in maybe 40 minutes? Why the fuck would anybody ride a goddam bus unless their time is worthless. Maybe that splains it…
Rabbit @ 49 – You got it. Just like buying calls. Stabilizes the market, and you didn’t hafta come out of your hutch or lift a paw.

Uh, Mark. I sold my car two years ago, and I still have time to work a full time job, maintain a blog, fix up my house, run a fantasy football league in the fall, make javascript games and, oh, I just got married as well. The reason I sold my car is because I was fed up with sitting in traffic behind all the dumbfucks in this state who never learned how to drive. It’s much better to sit on a bus because you can read (something non-rednecks do, you should try it), write up a post, or get some other work done.

No, I’m a jerk in person too. And I don’t think we’ve had a communist show up since that old Russian guy who just downed vodka and pounded his fist on the table until he passed out. You’d be the second. Good luck with getting your wife to let you out of the house.

OK, it’s time to get serious here! You trolls + Stefan + anyone else asserting that Gregoire/Sims/Logan/Berendt/Toothfairy stole the election know NOTHING about stealing elections! Pay attention now, because you’re about to get an education from the GOP’s expert election stealers.
The best way to steal elections is NOT by stuffing the ballot box, which is nearly impossible to do (unless you can get election officials to buy hackable electronic voting machines manufactured by your buddies) — but by keeping the other side from voting!
“GOP Paying Legal Bills of Bush Official
– By JOHN SOLOMON, Associated Press Writer
Thursday, August 11, 2005
“(08-11) 00:08 PDT WASHINGTON (AP) — … [T]he Republican Party has quietly paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to provide private defense lawyers for a former Bush campaign official charged with conspiring to keep Democrats from voting in New Hampshire.
“James Tobin, the president’s 2004 campaign chairman for New England, is charged in New Hampshire federal court with four felonies accusing him of conspiring with a state GOP official and a GOP consultant in Virginia to jam Democratic and labor union get-out-the-vote phone banks in November 2002.
“A telephone firm was paid to make repeated hang-up phone calls to overwhelm the phone banks in New Hampshire and prevent them from getting Democratic voters to the polls on Election Day 2002, prosecutors allege. Republican John Sununu won a close race that day to be New Hampshire’s newest senator.
” … A top New Hampshire Party official and a GOP consultant already have pleaded guilty and cooperated with prosecutors. …
“‘The object of the conspiracy was to deprive inhabitants of New Hampshire and more particularly qualified voters … of their federally secured right to vote,’ states the latest indictment issued by a federal grand jury on May 18.
“Since charges were first filed in December, the RNC has spent more than $722,000 to provide Tobin, who has pleaded innocent, a team of lawyers from the high-powered Washington law firm of Williams & Connolly. …
“The Republican Party has repeatedly and pointedly disavowed any tactics aimed at keeping citizens from voting …. Earlier this week, RNC chairman Ken Mehlman, the former White House political director, reiterated a ‘zero-tolerance policy’ for any GOP official caught trying to block legitimate votes. ‘The position of the Republican National Committee is simple: We will not tolerate fraud; we will not tolerate intimidation; we will not tolerate suppression ….’
“Paul Twomey, a volunteer lawyer for New Hampshire Democrats who are pursuing a separate lawsuit involving the phone scheme, said he was surprised the RNC was willing to pay Tobin’s legal bills and that it suggested more people may be involved.
“‘… [N]ow that the RNC actually is bankrolling Mr. Tobin’s defense, coupled with the fact that it has refused some discovery in the civil case, really raises the questions of who are they protecting, how high does this go and who was in on this,’ Twomey said.
“Federal prosecutors have secured testimony from the two convicted conspirators in the scheme directly implicating Tobin.
“Charles McGee, the New Hampshire GOP official who pleaded guilty, told prosecutors he informed Tobin of the plan and asked for Tobin’s help in finding a vendor who could make the calls that would flood the phone banks.
“Allen Raymond… told prosecutors Tobin called him in October 2002, explained the telephone plan and asked Raymond’s company to help McGee implement it. Raymond’s lawyer told the court that Tobin made the request for help in his official capacity as the top RNC official for New England and his client believed the RNC had sanctioned the activity.”
(For complete story see http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/.....=printable)
The 2004 governor’s election was NOT stolen! Why? Because the lame-ass WSRP run by Chris Rants doesn’t know how to steal elections, that’s why! If it was, Rossi not Gregoire would be sitting in the Governor’s Mansion in Olympia. (But watch out in 2008; the RNC, no doubt fed up with the incompetence of the WSRP’s election stealers, probably will send their own operatives here next time.)
The Washington Attorney General’s office WAS stolen — but not by the local GOP. Remember those illegal anonymous attack ads against the Democratic candidate? That was a Washington D.C.-based operation by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. There’ll probably be more of that in the 2006 Senate race. Wait and see.

I’m placing my call right now! I can use one of those!
Well, it’s that time again — i.e., time to supervise Stefan. Since Stefan has decided I’m Dean Logan* and signed up to be a poll worker, I’m Stefan’s supervisor. And Stefan needs a LOT of hands-on supervising, trust me on this.
(* Disclaimer – I’m not Dean Logan, but it’s useless to argue this point with Stefan, who is impervious to real facts.)
Item #1 — Oh looky, Stefan gussied up his format with color photos! He must be desperate to stop his ratings plunge — down 70% this summer, and the only reason the remaining 3 guys still go there is because they’re blind and think they’re clicking on a Braille porn site. (to be continued)
Item #2 — Martin Ringhofer sure is ugly in that photo! I thought it was a dog, but the caption says its Martin Ringhofer. I’m not sure I believe this, but if that’s you, Martin, all I can say is some people age more gracefully than others. Oh well. (to be continued)
Item #3 is a complaint Stefan prefaces with the comment, “Want to understand the true nature of the liberal mindset? Read this post from ‘DemGurl’ at Democratic Underground.” Here is the post that offended Stefan, reproduced in full:
“I had no idea how deeply my hate for that man ran. My lack of an interaction, with a * supporter is still haunting me a couple of hours later.
”I was on my home and was on the ramp getting off the highway. I saw a mini-van on the side of the road. There was a lady standing next to the van and in her arms she held her child. I can only assume her mini-van had broken down. I don’t know, perhaps with so many gad stations being out of gas, she had also run out. I slowed down and started to pull over to offer her a ride. At the very last second I noticed a “W” sticker on the back of her vehicle and I sped up and drove off.
”I feel really bad as a human being. That child is not responsible for their parent’s belief system. They are innocent and do not deserve to be out in the heat. (It is warm but not so bad that they would even break a sweat) I try not to punish people for what they believe.
”On the other hand, so many hateful thoughts went through my head. I wondered how a person could see what was going on in NO and still have one of those awful stickers on their car. How could they support an awful excuse for a human being that has let our country down and is letting Americans die after they have made it through the storm? How can someone be so blind and so stupid?
”I thought that if she loves * so much, maybe he would come along and help her the same way he is rescuing all of those poor people in the weather stricken part of our country. Let’s see what her hero can do for her.
”I never did go back. I was so upset with that sticker and with the fact that someone would support an idiot who is so clearly running our country into the ground.
”So why am I writing this? It is not to boast, I really feel bad about passing this child and not picking up their mother. Perhaps it is for a catharsis of sorts? That would be an educated guess. I suppose it is because I feel conflicted and I am writing this to try and sort through what I am feeling. There are two emotional sides, for me, on this incident and neither seems completely right or wrong to me. Even writing this, I am still not able to work through what happened. I feel like I am floating between right and wrong and am unable to grab either side.
”Thanks for listening.”
Now isn’t that just like a Republican – intentionally running out of gas hoping to a passing Democrat will give her gas? And with her kid in the car! What do you say about people like that?
F R E E L O A D E R
Oh, by the way, thanks for posting that, Stefan. It’s a really cool post! :D
Item #4 — Stefan called Dean Logan a liar for saying “Washington State law very clearly allows for the forwarding of absentee ballots and requires that voters be advised of the legal qualifications for casting a ballot. King County’s absentee envelopes and ballot instructions do just that.”
Stefan asserts, “Re-read my earlier post that discusses the issue, including the relevant sections of state law and administrative rules that I linked to.” Uh … Stefan … I did – several times. We must not be reading the same law or ballot envelope.
I responded on Friday at post #201 in the “FEMA director Mike Brown, a ‘total fucking disaster'” thread by pointing out that RCW 29A.40.091 authorizes forwarding absentee ballots and the voter qualifications are in the Oath of Voter printed on the security envelope. Logan is right, you’re wrong. Dipshit.
Hey, I have an idea. Let’s get Ron Sims to fire Dean Logan. Then Stefan will have nothing to talk about, and his blog will collapse.
Item # 1 — I saved the best for last — FUCK YOU, STEFAN! What’s more, I’m gonna come over to your house* tonight and eat your garden! Thanks for the food, dipshit! Looting is fun and profitable when you do it to Republicans.
* The stupid shit published his home address on his web site.
Well, I’m not gonna waste any more time tonight on pointing out the errors on the Brand X blog. That would take ALL night! I’m hopping over to Stefan’s for some free lettuce! I’m gonna shit on his lawn, too! You’ll find my bunny calling cards in the grass tomorrow, Stefan, but don’t worry it’s okay to step in it, my rabbit shit doesn’t mess up your shoes like sticky gooey smelly dog shit does. Thanks for the free food, sucker!
The rest of you, see you guys again tomorrow. :D
Thehim – Thank you for taking the bus and staying out of my way. BTW, you said you don’t have a car, and you also got married. Is that the old John Kerry trick? HE doesn’t have an SUV, but she does? Come clean now, does your wife have a car?
Yeah, thought so…lying piece of shit…
MarkTheFascistRedneck-
I happen to know FOR A FACT that thehim and theher do not own an internal combustion vehicle.
I also know that as the utter and complete failure of this incompetent and immoral administration becomes more widely known to the public your head will become larger and more inflamed and filled with pus until it explodes.
Roger Rabbit is personally trying to beef up the hits on SoundPolitics.com. Being curious I had to check it out to see what all the excitement is about.
‘Stefan asserts, “Re-read my earlier post…’
Wabbit: ‘Uh … Stefan … I did – several times.’
Are you saying that WAC 434-240-190 does not say:
‘Postal service endorsements to allow forwarding of the ballots, to receive from the post office the addresses to which ballots were forwarded, and the return of unforwardable ballots shall be used on any forwardable absentee ballots. If the information is not included, the envelope must clearly indicate that the ballot is not to be forwarded and that return postage is guaranteed.’
or that the KC ballots comply?

[Drink up, “progressives”!]
@86
Not intentionally, although I’m probably half of Stefan’s traffic now.
@86 (continued)
No, I didn’t say that. Why do right wing dipshits always have to read things into what other people say that aren’t there in order to make their argument? Because they have no argument unless they make up shit, that’s why.
I didn’t say anything about Stefan’s nitpicking over whether King County is using the correct postal endorsement.
I said Stefan is full of shit for calling Logan a “liar” for stating, “Washington State law very clearly allows for the forwarding of absentee ballots and requires that voters be advised of the legal qualifications for casting a ballot. King County’s absentee envelopes and ballot instructions do just that.”
Because Logan’s statement happens to be correct: Washington law DOES allowing forwarding absentee ballots, and the legal qualifications for voting ARE printed on the security envelope. I see NOTHING in Logan’s statement about the postal endorsement, so how the fuck could Logan be lying?
What Stefan did was take a specific complaint — whether the correct postal endorsement is being used — and use it to generalize that King County’s whole absentee ballot forwarding procedure is illegal. I call that “lying” and “intellectual dishonesty.”
Mr. X@90—
Is that as clever as you can be???
REmember REX REX REX REX REX REX REX….

REX REX……..
Maybe the reason Stefan’s traffic is plunging is because people have figured out he’s a liar and intellectually dishonest, therefore his blog is of no value. He probably hates America, too.
Irrelevent,
Wow, you really DO think you’re clever, don’t you? That’s almost as delusional as believing Shrub is an honest competent public servant – but not quite.
Mr. X—
Did I ever say Shrub is an honest competent public servant???
Hell No!!!
You aren’t paying attention Dumbass.
Both Political Parties and their leaders are quite morally & intellectually bankrupt. They focus on POWER rather than getting things done.
It’s just the R’s are a SMIDGEON more honest and effective. Plus the LEFTIST PINHEADS like yourself hijecked the Democratic Party. My best friends are Truman Democrats asshole. They are honest enough to hate fuckheads like you!!
Mr. X is now Mr. REX–

Keep repeating it….I’m sure you become confused quite frequently.
Irrelevent,
I rest my case – I mean, really, you closet cases and your butt thing.
Sophmoric, fascistic, and stupid is no way to go through life (though I would accept sophmoric and stupid).
