Maybe you didn’t vote for Trump. But you sure as hell enabled his mandate.

Denial follows pleas from state leaders of both parties for Trump to stretch out the window for aid applications.
What this means is that instead of 100% coverage by the federal government, after the expiration date federal coverage will drop to 75%.
What a surprise: the state of Georgia has budgeted for the remaining 25%:
It was a nice try – asking the feds to shoulder the entire cost burden. But hey, not much wrong with shared sacrifice, is there?

RFK Jr. Is Already Taking Aim at Antidepressants
Kennedy has repeatedly railed against what he sees as rampant overprescription of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, commonly known as SSRIs, which treat depression and anxiety. As with his previous assertions about vaccines, many of his statements about these drugs are not backed by science.
In a podcast appearance last July, Kennedy said he planned to dedicate money generated from a sales tax on cannabis products to “creating wellness farms—drug rehabilitation farms, in rural areas all over this country.”
The farm residents would grow their own organic food because, he suggested, many of their underlying problems could be “food-related.”

@34 Yeah, they were **only** probationary employees, and probably just paperwork pushers at that, implying they’re unnecessary, is that what you’re saying?
If they’re unnecessary, then why (a) were they hired in the first place, and (b) the agency is now trying to get them back?
Let me take a wild guess and speculate the nuclear security agency employs paper pushers because every speck of dust found on a nuclear weapon is documented. NNSA also employs drivers.
Everyone who works for that agency was a probationary employee at one time. And when someone leaves and has to be replaced with a new hire, that person is a probationary employee.
Dumbfucks are gonna dumbfuck.
I’ll say this: The location of our nuclear weapons isn’t a closely-held secret. They’re easy to recognize on a highway.
@50 “Kennedy said he planned to dedicate money generated from a sales tax on cannabis …”
A sure way to encourage people to grow their own.
That reminds me of a news story I read many years ago, when marijuana was illegal everywhere. This took place in a small town in the farm belt. All the kids were getting high, but the town cops couldn’t figure out where they were getting the weed. It turned out it was growing wild in a vacant lot behind the police station, which suggests some seeds leaked out of the evidence room.
@52 “Rabbit’s false assertion @ 41 that the US acquisition of Ukraine mineral rights was payment for providing security”
We’ll see about that …
“In fact, it was Zelensky’s idea (link @ 41):”
This was Zelesnky’s idea:
Trade resources for future weapons deliveries, not give the U.S. ownership of the resource, or agree to stationing U.S. troops on Ukrainian soil to safeguard U.S. (not Ukrainian) interests, or hand over those resources for past weapons deliveries.
Learn to fucking read, idiot. I’ve said this before, you badly need a reading comprehension remedial course. And maybe personal tutoring, too, because your ability to interpret what you read sucks.
@55 He’s another Steve Bannon, isn’t he? Well, not quite. PACs typically ask for donations, and people who run PACs and nonprofits often are paid.
$100K a year is roughly the average pay of congressional staffers; it’s also about what a D.C. public schools teacher with a master’s degree and 30 years of teaching experience makes.
So according to Doctor Dumbfuck, Washington D.C. is populated by thousands and thousands of “grifters.”
He’s jealous of Hogg because he never made $100K as a doctor. Unfortunately for him, the hospital paid him what he was worth.
@58 “Most of us see them as nancyboys.”
The high-school-educated white male subset who feel threatened by women bosses, doctors, and lawyers, yes.
But the “us” you’re referring to is a subset of a subset with unique characteristics.
@63 Speaking of free stuff, while grocery shopping today I walked up to a shoplifting arrest in progress. The store security man was wrestling with the individual on the ground. Just then the cops arrived and handcuffed the suspect, who then stopped fighting. He was put in a police cruiser (by now there were three) without incident and the cops remained on scene for about 20 or 30 minutes to interview store employees and process the scene.
If asked the checkstand employee if this happens very often and he said it’s rare.
Now let’s suppose Elmo wants a $100 billion tax break, and doesn’t want to add to deficits, so he takes it out of food stamps ( having been carte blanche over federal spending).
Homeless people (which I assume this suspect is) still have to eat. If they can’t buy groceries with food stamps, what will happen then? To eat, they’ll have to (a) panhandle, (b) steal food, and/or (c) rob people.
The food stamp program was designed to support farmers. That’s why the Department of Agriculture, not HHS (the welfare agency), administers it. But food stamps also improve nutrition for children, so they’re better able to learn; help sustain the working poor, which subsidizes minimum-wage employers; and buys a measure of social peace (when the government gives food to people who can’t support themselves, they don’t have to steal the food or rob people to pay for it).
Taking away food stamps takes away child health, a subsidy for employers who can’t afford to pay a living wage, and more peaceful streets than we’d have otherwise. All so Elmo can pay less taxes.
69)Most counties where the delivery systems are housed vote Republican like Cascade County, Montana. Although with the 341st Missile Wing’s reputation, the locals have more to fear from them, then the enemy. When my Grandpa was a civilian employee at Malmstrom(after retiring from teaching, and before that, Navy in WW1), they flew B-36s out of there.
Only such county voting Blue, Kitsap.
But the “us” you’re referring to is a subset of a subset with unique characteristics.
Rapey frat bois who brewed vats of jungle punch for “20 minutes of action” and worshiped portraits of bonzo raygun’s grinnin’ mug.
I want to expand a little bit on the role of food stamps and other programs for the working poor.
As I’ve posted numerous times on this blog, raising the minimum wage is a taxpayer protection plan.
The federal minimum wage is stuck at $7.25 an hour, which is $290 a week, $1,256 a month, and $15,068 a year for someone working 40 hours a week.
However, it must be noted that many minimum wage workers don’t work a 40 hour week. It’s common in retail, for example, to schedule workers for 28 to 32 hours a week, so the employer doesn’t have to provide benefits like health insurance.
Moreover, these workers often are assigned fluctuating hours, including rotating shifts, split shifts, and variable shifts, which usually means they can’t hold another job.
These practices keep labor costs down for employers. To make it possible for people to work 32 hours a week for $7.25 an hour, the government provides housing assistance, food stamps, and child care. It’s not unusual for federal programs to subsidize roughly half of low-wage workers’ subsistence needs.
Enter a guy worth $400 billion, elected by nobody, who decides these subsidies are “waste, fraud, and abuse,” and proposes paying for his tax breaks by terminating them.
What would an economy without these worker subsidies look like? First of all, since nobody can live on $232 a week, those employers will have to raise wages (probably to double what they are now), and either give them more hours, or give them set schedules so they can work a second job.
But let’s say employers won’t. Many of these workers will quit, either to take other jobs in which they can support themselves, or they may stay home because they literally can’t afford to work. (They don’t have money for work clothing, transportation to a job, child care, etc.)
If they can’t pay rent, they can live on the streets, but I’m guessing few if any will agree to starve. I’ve discussed above some of the alternative ways of getting groceries for people whose wages only cover rent, or who are living in their cars or in sidewalk tents with no income at all.
Of course, I have a solution: Require employers to pay everyone who works full-time a wage sufficient for basic necessities. And require employers to either provide full-time work, or give workers working less than 40 hours a set schedule so they can earn the rest of their necessary living expenses at a second job.
So there are basically two choices here: Either continue subsidizing employers paying below-subsistence wages by taxpayers picking up a portion of their employees’ living expenses, or force employers to guarantee subsistence incomes for workers.
You don’t have to do either, of course. You can yank the subsidies and let cheap-labor employers keep doing whatever they like — and leave it to those workers to make up the difference by illegal means.
Well, well, divided loyalties…
“Olivia Doe” has been a USAID employee in Kinshasa since 2023. She works on establishing direct lines of critical minerals, including cobalt, from Congo to the United States.
The country is home to 60 percent of the world’s cobalt. It is extracted through an under-regulated system of about 100,000 miners, who risk their lives to dig hundreds of feet underground with hand tools. The mineral is almost exclusively sent to China, where it is used to make batteries — including some that end up in Apple iPhones, according to an investigation by The Post.
Olivia wrote that her job was to help reduce the country’s dependence on China through increased trade with the United States.
“We have essentially ‘ghosted’ all of our partners and our reputation may forever be tarnished as a result,” she wrote, later adding: “China is ready to immediately jump in and take over.”

Hello Sir. I am one of the probationary employees terminated by the Doge at 9:00pm last night; February 14th. I voted for you, Sir, three times, and I still support you. I was encouraged by the DOGE to see they were getting rid of wasteful government spending; I support that too. My termination letter said I was being let go for performance reasons. I know that’s not true; I am an excellent employee. I’ve been with the Federal government for almost 16 years. Sixteen years in June. I had started my career with USDA, transferred to DHS, and recently came back to USDA because it’s such a great Agency to work for. Surely that must count for something in your eyes. I’m loyal and I firmly believe that the work I do as a USDA APHIS PPQ employee is vital and important. My boss, his boss, the managers in neighboring states, all agree I’m doing an excellent job and that I’m a great asset to the team. I’m the only [redacted] in the State of Kentucky and my work here is valued and honorable. Each time I voted for you, it was because I knew you’d make things right and you’d fix the wrongs. I’m counting on you now to make this right too. I’m pleading with you to reinstate my employment and give me my job back. Please, Mr. President. Thank you.
I wonder if Trump pushing the Gulf of America has something to do with the impending scuttling of the Ocean Liner SS UNITED STATES off Okaloosa County, Florida?
Your side won.
Get over it.
81,
Fat Hitler is now trying to rescind all the NNSA terminations. But he carried out the dismissals so abruptly and without any planning. So he is not having much immediate success at contacting them.
Somebody had to explain to him that they can no longer be reached at the .gov email addresses he used to terminate them.
86) Or to the Tech Bros that some of our Government operations are not high tech for a reason. Nuclear Weapons and Electronics, especially modern electronics, tend not to go together. Too bad judges can’t do a restraining order to keep them away from the Minutemen silos, some of them use computers that use ancient floppy disks.

Nuclear Weapons and Electronics, especially modern electronics, tend not to go together.
Hey Railfan, know what else tends not to go together? Electric school busses and winter.. I especially liked the part when the transportation director said he had to intentionally drive the bus into a snow bank in order to come to a stop before reaching an intersection.
“Our confidence is waning…”
No shit.
Boxcheck Momala’s fave thing was EV school busses, remember?
Q: What’s better than a shitload of overwhelmingly Democrat federal employees losing their jobs?
A: They’re forced to sell their homes at a steep loss, too:
I don’t care if there’s an explanation unrelated to DJT47 and DOGE. It’s enough for me that Deep State Democrats are on the run.
Fuck ’em.

Retail sales slumped 0.9% in January, down much more than expected
Trump did that.
Trump did that
You mean like the ten to twenty year process of tests to get FDA approval of any drug?
Or is this like not knowing what nuclear weapons security is?
I’m mystified how this country and the business of this country can carry on like as if everything is going to be fine. They better wake up, or that little message from your lender on how much you could take advantage of the equity, or the Super Bowl, or Spring Training, etc.. are all going to be history.
@ 97
Retail sales slumped 0.9% in January, down much more than expected
Trump did that.
Using your rationale, DJT47 (and the anticipation therof) did this, too.
Which is why Democrats are flailing. A majority of poll respondents support the ongoing housecleaning.
Democrats have nothing. So they resort to the silliness of some news item here or there instead of focusing on the larger message, which is that their party is ending, right quick.
The popular snowshoeing and summer trail to Franklin Falls is now closed.
Donald fired the forest service staff responsible for locking and unlocking the parking gates in the Pass region. The only people left are the career rangers at Summit West who, during the ski season, are quite busy.

They’re not lost at all.
I know exactly where they can all be found.
They’re on Xitter sobbing into the screaming void of Nazi-bots because they lost their $50k federal job, their VA benefits are cut, their NRSC farm grant is eliminated, eggs are $9 a dozen, and their MIL with dementia is moving into the kid’s room now that her Medicaid is gone.
They WON!
Now they have to live with it.
@98
Someone please inform the idiot that he/she or it was too stupid to not be conned by a con man. Then tell them thoughts and prayers. Electric school busses and winter..
So??? Electric cars in general:
“Nothing. No juice. Still on zero percent, and this is like three hours being out here after being out here three hours yesterday,” Tesla owner Tyler Beard told Fox 32.
He wasn’t alone. Dozens of cars were reportedly lined up and abandoned at the Tesla supercharging station in Oak Brook along with multiple charging stations around Chicago.
“This is crazy. It’s a disaster. Seriously,” said another Tesla driver, Chalis Mizelle, who had to ditch her ride and get picked up by a friend because the car wouldn’t charge..

This is wonderful newz for Elmo’s sales… fuck ‘im..
It’ll be figured out one day.. It’d be nice if Elmo goes bankrupt first.
It goes double for the Seattle area.
I loved living in Seattle. My heart broke when I left, but I was tired of being raped by taxes, policies, words and lack of common sense of the prog machine that has taken over. I get it Seattle has always wanted to be San Francisco. And now you are. It’s only a matter of time that your prog disaster will exceed theirs.
The few left here posting at all hours of the night and day devoted to drinking the rancid whine of hatred should consider getting a comfort dog, learn to knit, go explore the beauty of the state you are ruining, attend Mass or synagogue. Find what is bigger than you and appreciate the beauty before you die, miserable and alone with the hatred your keyboard only knows how to type. Stop paying HA to enable your addiction to that hatred.
Americans who vote are telling you what the problem is. America needs and wants a viable two party system, we want common sense, truth and transparency. We want to raise our children without fear. We want to earn without fear. We want to live in our homes, worship, gather and yes protest without fear. We want to make our decisions without the guillotine of bureaucracy over our heads.
At the moment, your party has taken itself out of the game by fighting all of it and all of us. And they seem to have no desire to change. They, and you, are enjoying the impotent scream. Just review your posts with a clear eye for proof.
Of course, I already know this is wasted on those who would rather scream.

The popular snowshoeing and summer trail to Franklin Falls is now closed.
Yeah, when the federal government shut down the Obama administration closed every recreational location it could in order to exert maximum perceived pain.
People can snowshoe elsewhere. People that can afford to drive into the mountains to snowshoe can afford $7/dozen eggs, too. Beats having your daughter killed by an illegal.

“Don’t fight hate with hate” is an example of subtle GASLIGHTING.
Where our legitimate hurt and anger at the injustices we suffer is being equated to the bigotry and abuse of our oppressors. Being angry doesn’t mean you are being hateful, it means you love yourself enough to get upset at your own mistreatment .

Trump spent millions of taxpayer dollars flying Air Force 1 over Daytona and then took victory laps around the track while nine people so far died in Kentucky due to horrific storms.. Also, on his directive, FEMA DENIED any additional assistance to Georgia from Helene.
Trump Did That.
@98 More to the point, how does gutting FWS protect our commercial fishing stocks? You know, an important part of our healthy-foods supply? It doesn’t, just like deporting immigrant agricultural workers won’t lower food costs.
This administration isn’t irrational. They’re intensely rational. They just have different aims and priorities than people think. And different from what Trump promised during the campaign.
In the 1932 elections, Hitler didn’t promise to exterminate the Jews, he promised to turn around the economy. Yeah I know it’s not a perfect analogy, but as the saying goes, “it’s close enough for government work.”

Speaking of Trump hatemongering, this week’s Barrons magazine has an article containing some incredible statements about the current state of affairs in the US of A. After noting that business is booming for lawyers and consultants who help rich clients move abroad, and take their money with them, Barrons said this:
Stop right there. Is there any legal basis to do that, if they’re not drug dealers or gangsters? No. This is the very definition of tyranny. But their fears don’t end there:
This isn’t just a few nervous nellies, wackos, or conspiracy theory freaks:
Oh, and did I mention that Lesperance is advising his clients to
which would trap them in this country for Trump and his minions to do with as they wish.
This shit isn’t conjectural or imaginary, it’s real — very smart, highly educated, completely serious, well heeled, and utterly serious people are spending large gobs of good money on preparing to flee tyranny in good ol’ America. That’s nothing short of amazing.
I know it’s not a perfect analogy, but it’s somewhat reminiscent of people fleeing Germany after Hitler became chancellor.
@99 Any order on abortion pills emanating from his EO pen is as likely to be based on science as his climate change policies are.
I was thinking last night about the national lynching memorial, known as the “National Memorial for Peace and Justice,” which is connected with The Legacy Museum in Montgomery, Alabama.
Wikipedia says the museum “receives no public funding,” and “development and construction of the museum and the nearby memorial cost an estimated $20 million raised from private donations and charitable foundations.”
Whew. That’s good. The museum and memorial are private (not federal) property, which means Trump can’t (legally) bulldoze it.
Still, I have doubts this memorial would survive a White Supremacist dictatorship. A tyrant who violated the sanctity of personal bank and brokerage accounts might send bulldozers onto private land, too.
So remember when I said SQL queries that Elon’s bullshit squad were running were getting GIGO results?
Educational funds for developmentally and physically disabled kidsj were blocked because in many parts of the program descriptions the word transition appears.

Who calls Democrats “demonrats”?

Another apples-to-grenades comparison by HA’s intellectual dwarf, Doctor Dumbfuck.
This is a figure from the tweet @ 140.
Why did Biden grow USAID workforce by 17% over three years, after Trump grew it by 6%?
Why did the Department of Energy need nearly 18% more workers during the first three years of Biden’s term?
Why did the State Department increase its workforce by 19% during the first three years of Biden’s term?
Oh yeah. Parts of the federal government need a hatchet taken to them.

Even POTUS doesn’t have access to that kind of information. Fuck this guy.
I hope the Flag bill in Olympia fails I like the state flag the way it is. Say, I wonder, is there a movement to change King County’s flag back? After all, you saw one of Donald Trump’s tax returns. You saw his Deutsche Bank loan application. What did those revelations do for you, Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit?
Did either of them lessen DJT47’s power? Did either of them increase yours?
Good news!
Elon Musk’s DOGE has succeeded in saving the US government so much money it can now invest in things that really matter.
For example, the $7 million the US government was spending on food aid in Sudan will now be used to buy Cybertrucks. And the $18 million AIDS prevention program? That money is now freed up to buy even more Cybertrucks. $3 billion for tuberculosis vaccines? That money will be going to Cybertrucks. $4.3 million in agriculture contracts for US farmers? Even MORE state-owned Cybertrucks.
Humanitarian aid? Cybertrucks.
Consumer financial protection? Cybertrucks.
Cybertrucks. CYBERTRUCKS. CYBERTRUCKS!
CYBERTRUCKS!!!!
DOGE estimates that when they’re done the US gov could be able to buy as many as 93 million Cybertrucks.
A 45000% increase in state-owned Cybertrucks over the Biden administration!

Some information is emerging about the Toronto crash. First, videos show snowy and icy conditions, but Toronto’s airport has what a veteran pilot told Fox News called “very long runways.” (According to Wikipedia, two are over 11,000 feet.)
This pilot said the plane, on approach, was bucking 70-knot winds, was descending at 1100 feet per minute (500 fpm is normal), and doing 125 mph at 500 feet of altitude (160 mph is normal).
As everyone now knows, the plane ended up upside-down with at least one wing sheared off. This pilot speculated the plane could have flipped on landing because of a wingtip strike.
In other words, if the plane was being buffeted by strong side or quartering winds, and the pilot was constantly making aileron corrections trying to keep the wings level and corrected too far, a wingtip could have struck the ground at high speed and sheared the wing off.
The pilot commentator didn’t identify a cause (that’s the job of the accident investigators), but suggested a prudent pilot would have aborted the landing and gone around, or asked to land at an alternate airport.
So I won’t be surprised if this crash ultimately is attributed to pilot error, if the accident investigation doesn’t turn up some sort of mechanical failure.
It’s been a shitty economy for awhile now.
Oh really.. This from the article:
By “at least 20 years” means repuke-onomics have meant the rich got richer and the poor got poorer for AT LEAST the last 20 years.. The common wisdom is since 1973 more or less.. Like 40 percent of american households today can’t scrape 400 dollars together for an emergency. It’s a damn shame no thanks to trickle on economics.
And by “some did”.. yep we did.. With family members working in Health Care there was plenty of overtime pay and union negotiated pay raises and retention bonuses.
So covid was a gut punch. It froze the economy and repukes leveraged the crisis at every turn to where they are now.
Information is beginning to emerge about the Toronto crash. First, videos show snowy and icy conditions, raising the possibility the plane skidded on the runway; but wind seems to have been more of a factor.
The plane was having problems while still in the air. The approach was abnormal. A veteran pilot told Fox News the plane was descending at 1100 feet per minute (500 fpm is normal) and doing 125 mph (160 mph is normal). The apparent reason: 70-knot winds.
Even if the pilot was struggling with the approach, he shouldn’t have overshot the runway, because the Toronto airport has very long runways. (According to Wikipedia, two of the five runways are over 11,000 feet, and the other three are all over 9,000 feet, and the airport sits at low elevation, less than 600 ft. above MSL.)
The plane ended up upside-down with at least one wing sheared off. Fox’s pilot-commentator speculated the plane could have flipped on landing because of a wingtip strike.
If the plane was being buffeted by strong side or quartering winds, and the pilot was fighting to keep the wings level, he could have corrected too far, and a wingtip could have struck the ground. This would shear the wing off, and this plane in fact is missing one of its wings.
The pilot commentator didn’t identify a cause (that’s the job of the accident investigators), but suggested a prudent pilot would have aborted the landing and gone around, or asked to land at an alternate airport, so I won’t be surprised if this crash is attributed to pilot error. It’s less likely to be blamed on ATC, because the pilot is in command of the plane and has discretion to land or not land.
You don’t have to be a pilot to wonder why someone would try to land a commercial airliner in 70-knot winds, even if the wind is head-on, if in fact that’s what happened. It’s not as simple as adjusting the plane’s airspeed for the headwind.
If a pilot on approach is correcting his speed for a 70-knot headwind, and the windspeed isn’t steady, and most strong winds aren’t, variable gusts would make it nearly impossible to manually keep the plane at the correct airspeed with throttle adjustments.
So, the decision to land in these conditions probably was pilot error.
“So my friend and I were at an Antique Show today. We were talking with a dealer who told us she needs a good show, because her job with the Federal Government was just eliminated and benefits for her non-verbal autistic 20 year old were just cut. I remarked “well I hope you didn’t vote for this” but the look on her face, and silence, confirmed that she did. “
Trump Did That.
@187 My view of voter suppression is that it’s bad, and in some cases even illegal, but unless the voters are physically prevented from voting, is their choice to not vote.
But Trump didn’t need voter suppression in 2024. It seems pretty clear that several million voters for Biden in 2020 chose to sit out this election because they didn’t like the candidates, or were miffed by Biden’s support for Israel’s Gaza war, or whatever the reason.
Trump also affirmatively won over some black and Hispanic voters, again for whatever reason, and we’ll just see how that works out for those voters.
Elon Musk’s $270 million expenditure on electing Trump, and then being given such a large role in his administration that he’s nearly the de facto president, when the rest of us are limited to donating $2500 to a presidential campaign, is dodgy at the very best. It was also hidden from voters, none of whom were told that Trump, if elected, would turn over governing to Musk.
Also, voters did not knowingly vote for Project 2025 and the mass evisceration of the federal government. On the campaign trail, Trump said he’d barely heard of Project 2025, didn’t know what it was, and wasn’t going to implement it. All of that was false; but America’s voters knew, or should have known, that Trump is a prodigious liar. Despite that, 77.3 million of them chose to vote for him anyway.
There’s no evidence those 77.3 million votes weren’t real. There’s no evidence of ballot-box stuffing, or widespread voting fraud. I believe Trump really was elected.
You can argue until the cows come home that Harris actually won this election, but I won’t agree with you. Here’s why:
1. No election is perfect, a perfect election is unattainable, so imperfections in an election — especially anecdotal or speculative ones — are not a sufficient basis to set it aside.
2. If you support the rule of law, which I do, a certified election result is valid unless the fraud or imperfections are such that a judge sets the election aside. A legal election contest through the court system is the sole means of disputing and setting aside an election result.
3. The election process is precisely defined by election laws, which spell out the process for counting and reporting votes. Deadlines are hard; and certification is conclusive. The election laws cut off disputation of results after a specified date. Even if later on, discrepancies are found that would have changed the result, after all deadlines for challenging an election have passed and all the legal remedies specified by election laws have been exhausted, the result stands. The reason for this is the need for finality; the public’s strong interest in filling the office by a date certain overrides the weaker public interest in an accurate result.
In summary, as a lawyer, I’m a strong supporter of following the laws; our election laws spell out how a winner is determined; and the result of that process — not second guessing or later forensic examination of the election — is what we are to abide by under the social contract represented by our laws.
It was this process and social contract that the January 6 rioters violated. It was this process and social contract that Trump’s election lies violated. If you and I don’t abide by that process and social contract, then we’re no better than they are, and our argument is no better than theirs.
The key to this is agreeing to be bound by the legal result, even if that’s different from the actual result. That may be hard to swallow for some, but it’s what we must do to preserve the rule of law over our elections. And on this basis, Trump is the duly elected President of the United States.
@ 194
By the time you drive to SeaTac, check in, go through security, wait to board your delayed flight, then take off and hop over the mountains to Yakima’s lettuce fields, I’ll already by there.
Earlier this month, arrival at Masterpark Lot C, shuttle to SEA, TSA, and through check-in at the Alaska lounge front desk to seated with a Bloody Mary was 25 minutes.
It’s not what you’ve heard, Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit. And you can’t afford to drive to Yakima, anyway.
If you’re a federal employee and still have a job, today you’re getting paid for doing nothing.
Meanwhile, most of the rest of America is working because it’s a Monday.
Boo fuckin’ hoo to those of you whose jobs are unnecessary. GTFO.
Before the election, during a political discussion, a Trump supporter asked me if I would accept the election result if Trump won. Without hesitating I said, “Sure.”
It appeared to catch him off guard, and I strongly suspect that wasn’t the answer he was expecting, because that’s clearly not what millions of Trump supporters did in 2020.
His mistake was assuming I, a Democrat, think like a Republican. I really don’t think these folks can put themselves outside their own box, or process that we don’t think like they do.
Of course, my thought process is colored by the fact I have much deeper knowledge of election laws and processes than most people, and I think like a lawyer, not like a layperson. #220 above explains my thinking, and is very much a thought process grounded in law and legal process.
#200 explains why I accept, and abide by, election results I don’t like. It’s also what makes me a much better citizen than Republican election deniers. By “better citizen” I mean more mature, grown up, responsible, constructive, and respectful of the civic rights of others — all of these things.
@ 203
#200 explains why I accept, and abide by, election results I don’t like. It’s also what makes me a much better citizen than Republican election deniers. By “better citizen” I mean more mature, grown up, responsible, constructive, and respectful of the civic rights of others — all of these things.
I’m sure you did not intend it, Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit, but Welfare Queen YLB’s election 2024 denialism @ 187 makes her childish, irresponsible, destructive, and disrespectful of the civil rights of others. In addition to being a dumb cunt.
It’s your list of descriptors, dude. Not mine.
@188 Voters may not be statistically literate, but they know how they feel. Call it intuition, if you will, but they can sense whether they’re getting ahead or falling behind.
You and I both read Barrons. That magazine’s articles contain discussions of the flaws in government data. And numbers, even if accurate, don’t capture the misery people feel.
In popular vernacular, “There are three kinds of lies: Lies, damned lies, and statistics.” I wouldn’t go that far in characterizing economic data, most of which is ballpark reliable, but when you understand how economic data are gathered, you appreciate its limitations. Most of the errors occur in the gathering stage, not in compilation or analysis. In other words, economic data analysis is vulnerable to GIGO simply due to the sheer difficulty of discerning what’s going on in the economy.
Nor is that a valid characterization of statistical data in general. A good way to end up dead is by repudiating science based on data analysis. There are many perfectly valid statistics. Most scientific data is valid. Much of the economic data is valid, or at least close enough to be useful. In hindsight, we know the pre-election polls of voter preferences were within their MOEs.
So, I’m willing to accept, without argument, your contention that the economy was worse than the data indicated and Democrats either believed or argued to voters it was.
But that totally begs the issue. You’re asking the wrong question. The right question isn’t whether the Democrats’ perception of the economy was off, but whether electing Trump will make it better? That’s TBD.
What’s more, the economy isn’t the only matter of importance; Trump’s election has put many other quality of life aspects and positive social values at risk.
Decent people don’t support Trump. The man is a piece of shit, and that’s been common knowledge for years. Even if you have legitimate grievances, and correctly believed Harris wasn’t the answer to your problems, if you still support Trump now, you deserve to be looked down on.
Roger Dumbfuck Rabbit’s claim of 70 mph winds in Toronto at the time of the crash is bullshit. Max wind speed was over a third less than that.
CNN:
65 kph is 40 mph, Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit. You useless, bloviating fuck.
The tower audio has been released. The plane had been cleared to land.
Remember when you claimed that the guy who ran over the Dancing Grannies in the Wisconsin Xmas parade was white, Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit? It’s because you can’t wait to spew stupid shit whenever anything happens.
You useless, bloviating fuck.
Awfully weak liberal response to the changes Team DJT47 is making.
It’s almost as if it’s expected to pass constitutional muster. Take an Obama-era program created without a vote by Congress, modify its purpose, and voila!
People like saving money, and an awful lot of them are voters.
Is it possible that the left went overboard on all of its spending in the last 4 years? Why, I think it is.
@200 It’s disappointing that no one here yet has drilled down into Palasts’ arguments..
I’d expect that from the bloviating name-calling dumbfuck.. the freek is a childish, hateful bore.
I wouldn’t expect that from you Roger. Swing states are how Presidential elections are decided and evidence of massive vote suppression of people of color in those states deserves to be taken seriously.
There’s no evidence those 77.3 million votes weren’t real. There’s no evidence of ballot-box stuffing, or widespread voting fraud. I believe Trump really was elected.
Let’s say they were.. Over 3 million votes from people of color ruthlessly suppressed across all the swing states makes all the difference in a close election. Biden barely squeaked by as it was in 2020, as did orange pants shitter in 2016.. Kamala would have been no different in 2024.
@204,
Is this a good time to remind everyone that in 2020 this degenerate piece of shit troll disputed the lawful election outcome for more than six months of shit posting Q-anon conspiracy bullshit that included “bamboo fiber evidence”, blue ink pens, blank sheets of paper, and random server traffic that he lapped up and spit out here like an anthropomorphic liver fluke?
Like every other
RepublicanNazi, our profoundly stupid troll was so seared with disappointment and regret in 2020 that he rejected the most basic principles of democracy forever. That’s why he’s found it so easy to move right on into fascism these days.
Don’t ever let him get away with claiming otherwise.
185)Too bad they can’t just dust off the plans for the CF-105, that plane was ahead of its time.

More Americans voted AGAINST than for.
Staci White said she voted for President Trump because she wanted lower prices and to stop fentanyl from coming into the U.S.
Now, with widespread federal layoffs and expected cuts, she worries her family will lose their house if her partner is laid off from his government-adjacent job. At the dialysis unit where she works, staff have started doing drills for what to do if Immi-gration and Customs Enforcement comes to deport their patients, some of whom are in the country illegally.
“When we said safer borders, I thought he was thinking ‘let’s stop the drugs from coming into the country,” she said. “I didn’t know he was going to start raiding places.” She said she didn’t believe he would actually follow through on some of the more hardline policies he touted during the campaign.
“Now I’m like: Dang, why didn’t I just pick Kamala?”‘ said the 49-year-old Omaha, Neb., resident, referring to the former vice president Democratic nominee.
A Trump Voter Regrets:
Republicans did this.
Sounds good now. Let it set in for a year and then tell us how much they love it.
Also why aren’t more undocumenteds being deported!
Still 6-7 million to go.
@ 208
Over 3 million votes from people of color ruthlessly suppressed across all the swing states makes all the difference in a close election.
Welfare Queen YLB fails to understand that, if cast, they would be illegal votes.
@ 211
More Americans voted AGAINST than for.
Which seemed to be no problem at all for Democrats when it happened to Bill Clinton both times.
And is also irrelevant, G-clown. And an exceptionally weak argument. Stiffen that wrist when you raise your hand to try to make a point.
@ 213
“We voted for border security. We didn’t vote for my husband to lose his government career and benefits for which he has worked so hard.
Yabbut you got border security.
And your husband is in the federal government. You know he does not work hard. Today, for instance.
they would be illegal votes.
Babbled w/o any backup…
Typical from the idiot bore.. yawn… Try again.. Take Palast point by point..
What a coward.
@207
Yep. People like saving money. They also like safe airlines. They like saving money on eggs. They like having Medicare that pays for a good chunk of their medical expenses. They REALLY like their processed food like Doritos and Hostess cupcakes. They like their autistic kids having a 504 plan and being able to go to school allowing parents to earn money working instead of home schooling. They like knowing that measles is an eradicated disease. They like having affordable family vacations to National Parks. They like free museum days, brought to you by the National Foundation for the Arts.
What they are about to learn is President Musk took all that away costing them thousands of dollars in new expenses so they could get $129 back in a tax refund. Well unless they have a net income over $1m and then they get a shit ton of taxes just waived. No refund required.
This is where a Dumbfuck runs into the reality that ‘deficit lowering’ by picking around the edges of the budget while increasing the really expensive stuff like the Pentagon is an esoteric argument that doesn’t make the slightest bit of difference to a family budget.
@217
I didn’t work today either. Private sector.

I resent all of you as I complain about my horse barn. None of you are worth a dime. Minimum wage is theft.
Apartheid Baby and confirmed White Supremacist dabbling with Eugenics? OK, the baby mama appears to be a loon right wing influencer but her story definitely feels plausible.
This happened today:
And the White House said this:

This is bullshit. SSA didn’t fail me. When I retired my application was promptly processed, and for years I’ve received my monthly benefits like clockwork, and without interruption. Now, for the first time, I’m not sure I’ll continue to.
It’s ridiculous to think Trump, one of the most self-centered people on earth, cares about how well the SSA bureaucracy serves the citizenry.
This weekend Barrons, a respected and credible financial publication owned by the same family that owns Fox News, reported that some wealthy anti-Trumpers who are not nuts are moving cash and stocks to foreign safe havens because they’re afraid Trump will seize their assets. So far that hasn’t happened, but they don’t trust him, and I don’t either.
Today we learned that Elon’s quasi-authorized hackers are trying to gain access to Social Security beneficiaries’ personal information. What do they need that for? Certainly not to make SSA more efficient, or fire its employees. The most conceivable purpose of this is to match Trump (and/or Musk) critics to the Social Security rolls and then fuck with their benefits. This hasn’t happened yet either, but that doesn’t mean it won’t.
I won’t go into other things they could do, like martial law, suspending due process, and hunting people who aren’t members in good standing of the Trump Tribe. What I can say right now for sure is that Trump and Musk are acting in bad faith.
This has nothing to do with making life better for the American people. You don’t do that by shutting down medical research or impounding child care funding. We’re seeing the kind of steps ruthless people would undertake to establish a dictatorship. Why else do they want Social Security recipients’ addresses and veterans’ medical records? What else would you use that information for?
@201 “seated with a Bloody Mary”
I’m absolutely not surprised that you’re one of those obnoxious assholes who gets drunk in the airport lounge and then gives the flight attendants and other passengers a hard time until thrown off the plane by the captain and deplaned by the airport police.
That’s why I get to Yakima on my feet faster than you do on wings.
Alcohol should be banned from airports.
@202 “If you’re a federal employee and still have a job, today you’re getting paid for doing nothing.”
No, you’re not. If you’re a V.A. radiologist, you still have to review all the x-rays and CAT scans on your desk. If you’re a Social Security intake worker, you still have to process all the applications in your inbox.
Being a federal worker and having a federal holiday simply means worker harder on the work days. And if you’re a federal worker, you’re probably working for an agency that’s understaffed, and consequently working your ass off.
If you’re a federal worker working at home remotely, you’re probably working today, and maybe you worked on Saturday and Sunday, too.
It’s obvious you’ve never had a government job, doc, because you don’t have a fucking clue about government work.
@204 I don’t know who posted @187, I don’t agree with that post, and I posted #202 to instruct that poster on why I disagree with it and to encourage him or her to go along with the system. Which is asking a lot. And is much, much more than your tribe was willing to do when their candidate lost.
Yes, doc, I’m better than every single one of the 15,000 rioters who tried to overthrow our democratically elected government on Jan. 6, 2021, and I’m trying to teach my fellow liberals to rise above their level because if we’re not good citizens there won’t be any good citizens, because your tribe sure as hell aren’t.
@204 “I’m sure you did not intend it, Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit, but Welfare Queen YLB’s election 2024 denialism @ 187 makes her childish, irresponsible, destructive, and disrespectful of the civil rights of others. In addition to being a dumb cunt. It’s your list of descriptors, dude. Not mine.”
Not quite. In fact, not within a country mile. #187’s denialism doesn’t remotely compare with the rioting, violence, and cop beatings that occurred on Jan. 6. It’s well short of Trump’s election lies and the division and lawlessness he encourages. It’s nothing more than harmless whining.
Your vote for Trump did more damage than his (or her) whining on HA does. That whining arguably is childish, but it doesn’t rise to being irresponsible, destructive, or disrespectful of the civil rights of others. Your vote for Trump does all of the above.
@206 “Roger Dumbfuck Rabbit’s claim of 70 mph winds in Toronto” isn’t my claim at all.
That’s what Fox News and their pilot commentator said (at 1:56 and 2:48 in the video below). Your issue is with them, not me. If their information is wrong, then Fox needs to be more circumspect about what they put on the air. But that’ll be the day, won’t it?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIFrH9mA0YY&list=RDNSRO6B43ZCzWM&index=4
#187’s denialism
It’s not denialism. It’s pointing to a well researched article. It deserves to be taken seriously.
Be serious. Read it. Refute the author’s research if you can. Or just admit that he might just have some facts on his side.
irresponsible, destructive, and disrespectful of the civil rights of others.
EXACTLY what YOU support for people of color who don’t care for your orange pants shitter and the tax cuts you shill for.
You’re a self centered racist and misogynist low-life.
And a moldering bore to boot.
@207 “Is it possible that the left went overboard on all of its spending in the last 4 years? Why, I think it is.”
Federal spending grew 82% during Trump’s presidency and fell 14% during Biden’s presidency.
Deficits steadily increased during Trump’s presidency and steadily declined during Biden’s presidency.
Trump added more to the debt than Biden did.
https://polidiotic.com/by-the-numbers/us-federal-deficit-by-year/
You suck at this.
Spoyou’re saying it really IS about white supremacy and ‘Great Replacement’ Manifesto.
@208 “It’s disappointing that no one here yet has drilled down into Palasts’ arguments..”
Because Palast’s arguments are irrelevant. They’re armchair quarterbacking. Certifying an election slams the door shut on contesting that election no matter how compelling the evidence of a flawed or stolen election is.
If you want, you can use his arguments in a discussion of how to improve future elections. But applied to the 2024 elections, they’re pointless, because that election has been finalized, and election laws decree that finalized results are irreversible.
So, with respect to 2024, Palast’s talk is just talk. If you disagree with that, your dispute isn’t with me, but with the system, because that’s how the system established by law works.
I’m not in the business of disputing or overthrowing elections outside the law. That’s a Republican shtick, and I’m not a Republican.
@210 Ahead of its time, but wouldn’t survive an encounter with F-16s or F-35s.
Certifying an election slams the door shut on contesting that election no matter how compelling the evidence of a flawed or stolen election is.
It was “certified” by the repuke vote suppressors who bungled it in 2020. Who could ever conceive of an incumbent President tanking an re-election? It wasn’t supposed to happen especially after pants shitter’s people found 10 million more voters than they had in 2016.
This is denialism of all too obvious vote suppression as a result of draconian laws passed in the wake of pants shitter’s loss in 2020. Almost everyone agrees Gore won Florida in 2000 – he just went about the recount bass ackwards. And vote suppression through purges was a factor even back then.
“Certification” doesn’t mean bad shit didn’t happen.
If you want, you can use his arguments in a discussion of how to improve future elections.
Yes that’s what we have to do.
because that’s how the system established by law works.
And the system in the various states like Georgia’s SB202 was designed to suppress the votes of people of color. It’s still on the books and will be a factor in subsequent elections.
Roger, Jim Crow was law on the books too.
@213 Federal employment in many cases is career employment. There is no civilian counterpart for a nuclear weapons assembler or a foreign aid worker. In theory, federal workers laid off in mid-career can retrain for other jobs; but in reality a 50-year-old isn’t going to be hired for an entry-level job in the private sector. This is indeed devastating to many of those now being fired by a heartless billionaire. It’s also a loss to society, because for many, it marks the end of their productive years.
This doesn’t mean people should be kept on government payrolls just so they have an income. But they aren’t just losing their jobs; the public is losing the services they provided. In some cases, competence is being replaced with incompetence; in all cases, service to the public is being replaced with loyalty to Trump. That’s not good for anyone but Trump and Musk.
@215 “Welfare Queen YLB fails to understand that, if cast, they would be illegal votes.”
This may come as news to you, but African-Americans have been citizens since 1868.
@217 You didn’t get paid holidays? You were a slave? No, I think you’re a white guy who wants other people to be slaves.
@225 Would you be happier if he paid child support?
@235 A guy who got very rich from people smarter than him designing electric cars and space rockets apparently thinks we pay taxes to give handouts to illegal immigrants.
Actually, illegal immigrants work very hard to grow our food, fix our leaky roofs, and empty our bedpans, and pay taxes to give us handouts.
Put Musk in charge, and you end up with no less food, leakier roofs, bed sores, and no Social Security or Medicare.
He may be the world’s richest man, but he isn’t the world’s smartest man. He can’t even figure out how to use a condom (12 kids and counting).
@238 “Certification” doesn’t mean bad shit didn’t happen.
Certification isn’t intended to mean bad shit didn’t happen. It means the election is over, no matter what happened.
You may not like the concept. You should embrace it. It’s what stands between us and the Jan. 6 alternative.
Presidents and administrations come and go, but once you lose the democratic process, it’s awfully hard to get it back.
@244 You’re confusing my assertion that bad shit happened with the outcome – a BAD outcome.
I’m not denying that repuke vote suppressors made sure their bad shit was “certified”.
I am asserting that bad shit happened, people’s civil rights were trampled on and the vote suppressors got away with it. Jim Crow was “legal” and it was a crime against humanity.
I sure as shit won’t “embrace” the loss of democracy but no I won’t assault cops over it. There are better ways. Bringing up Jan 6 is a cheap shot. Totally misses the original point.
Kamala Harris may very well have won 286 electoral votes if not for outrageous vote suppression in the swing states.
@245 When I was in high school, three civil rights workers were murdered in Mississippi for registering black voters. Today, blacks can register and vote, but Republican legislatures are throwing up all kinds of obstacles.
Palast does great investigative journalism; in 2006, he exposed a vile GOP voter suppression scheme aimed at black soldiers serving overseas.
We have to fight these battles one battle at a time. We aren’t going to win them all. Voter suppression won’t be eradicated in one or two election cycles. But it only works in close elections. We have to turn out our supporters so elections aren’t close.
The FAA fined Musk’s space company $633,000 for launch license violations. Solution? Fire the federal air traffic controllers and have his companies take over that work.

DOGE isn’t about efficiency or saving taxpayer dollars; it’s about protecting Musk’s businesses.
Pete Hegseth went to Europe and gave a speech that, with no concessions by Russia, gave Putin two big wins: He suggested Moscow could keep captured Ukrainian territory, and said Ukraine would not be part of NATO.
Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS), who chairs the Senate Armed Service Committee, called it a “rookie mistake.”
MSNBC reported “Hegseth tried to backpedal a day later.” It’s too late. The damage has been done.
There’s a way, however, for Trump to repair Hegseth’s misstep: Fire him. Treating his words as a firing offense is the only way to convince Putin that Trump, not Hegseth, makes policy — and is in charge.
Poor YLB……look who’s an election denier now!

“The park needed more funding. There’s a lot of deferred maintenance that hasn’t been done,” she said. “It’s the second-most visited park in the country, and if that’s not worth preserving and throw some money at, I’m not sure what is.”
Republicans did this.
91 disabled kids in one PA school district abruptly cut off from a support program to help them transition from high school to life after school because the DOGE brigade hit ctrl+f for “transition” and never bothered to read any further
Republicans did this.

Ron DeSantis is floating a proposal to eliminate property taxes.
Paying for fire departments, police, the roads….
I guess the Federal Funds Faerie will leave it under the pillow.
Head of criminal prosecution division at DC US Attorneys office quits citing a demand from the Trump administration to open a prosecution of a contract issued during the Biden administration.
Citing in her letter does not specify the department or entity receiving the contract but indicates that no evidence was provided even suggesting illegal behavior. (Eds note, bet it’s Rivian).
“During my tenure, which has spanned over many administrations, I have always been guided by the oath I took…to support and defend the Constitution” her letter reads.
Waddle Marco, twisting himself into fusilli,
“He’s the only leader in the world who can make this happen who can even bring people together to begin to talk about it in a series way is President Trump. He’s the only one in the world who can do that right now. The second thing I would say is that in order for a conflict to end everyone involved in that conflict has to be OK with it.” And that’s why I’m here at the messiah’s, the chosen one’s, the only one’s request in Saudi Arabia negotiating with only one side to force Ukraine to give us their rare earth minerals and comply with what Donald and Vlad require.
a proposal to eliminate property taxes.
Ultimate knuckling under to the insurers which is killing the retirement dreams of bonzo and pants shitter luvin’ boomers.
Awwwww..
Weird that the Canadian FAA officials are wrapping up their press conference and not one comment on DEI or a reporter asking of the pilot is black.
We could do that here if we tried.
Want to go visit the national parks?
Sorry.
The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don’t get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they’ll be closed. Rangers are fired.

That guy is literally a heroin addict with parasitic brain worms.

Okay, maybe just this one time.
Goaded on and controlled by billionaire buddies Republicans in Congress have now voted to repeal the $5 limit on overdraft fees banks can charge the desperate, impoverished weird-beards who voted for Fat Hitler and just lost their jobs because of it.
It was a mistake for the Trump administration to negotiate with the Taliban without the Afghan government at the table. It is a mistake to negotiate with Russia without including Ukraine at the table.
Fat Hitler stabbed Afghanistan in the back and sold it out to terrorists. He will do precisely the same thing to Ukraine if the EU and what’s left of NATO lets him. This entire catastrophe is custom designed on order to splinter NATO for Putin. The most successsful security partnership in the history of the human race is being undermined by the Republican Party to serve Putin’s needs. A third of the voters wanted this. And another third either didn’t care, or wanted cheaper eggs when they were still selling for $3.

@251 I have a suggestion. For you, not YLB. Here goes:
Either learn how to spell “now,” or type with your fingers not your thumbs.
@252 Fuck them. They voted for this. Elections have consequences. Beef is bad for their health anyway.
@255 You can only pray their parents voted Republican, so they’ll never do it again.
@258 In addition to her oath, there’s the small matter of keeping her license to practice law. Disbarring federal prosecutors could become a cottage industry over the next 4 years.
@259 Donald “Peace In Our Times” Trump is the Neville Chamberlain of the 21st century.
@262 Stop wringing your hands over national parks. They’ll be fine without human visitors.
Can we hold you to this?
Wait. Don’t answer. You’ve never stood behind a single one of your thousands of bullshit proclamations before. Why ruin a perfect record.
In two years time when Bonneville Power has become EnergeX, “your utility of the future”, and you are paying 36 cents per kWh just as your panel efficiency drops below 50% you’ll have to power your Colecovision with bicycle-coconut-battery generator like Gilligan. Only essential bullshit posts.
@265 Fuck ’em. Elections have consequences. What did they think they were voting for? If they thought they were voting for other people to lose their jobs, then double-fuck ’em.
It’s not that we Democrats lack compassion. We’re simply powerless to help them. They’re like a person who wandered out on thin ice, and we don’t have a rope to throw to them, because they burned the rope.

He’s the George Lincoln Rockwell of the 21st century.
@271 It’s easy to end a war by surrendering to the enemy. World War 2 dragged on because Hitler and Tojo found it very difficult to surrender. Trump has none of their reluctance. Unlike them, he won’t end up dead; Putin as a comfortable apartment waiting for him in Moscow.
@272 Strangely, that’s roughly the value of Elon’s federal contracts.

Pete Hegseth went to Europe and gave a speech that, with no concessions by Russia, gave Putin two big wins: He suggested Moscow could keep captured Ukrainian territory…
Prior to the February 2022 invasion, Biden said he had no problem if it was only a minor incursion.
After the incursion Biden said Ukraine would have to give up captured territory.
and said Ukraine would not be part of NATO.
Biden did nothing to advance Ukraine’s prospects of joining NATO as a member. Biden did nothing but bullshit about prospects that Ukraine could join NATO even in his early days as Obama’s VP:
The only thing DJT47 has done is end the false hope perpetrated by Biden as VP and by Biden as president. Ukraine isn’t going to join NATO. Period.
All Hegseth did was tell it straight, Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit. As a bullshitter, you don’t like straight talk. We get that.
Lidl Marco grovelling before the weakest and most compromised Putin we’ve ever seen is obviously him incinerating his own political future in service to the Trump family.
And as usual he’s far too dumb to understand that.
@290 Remember a guy named Jeff Sessions? Neither do I.
Cabinet secretaries are expendable, and Trump cabinet appointments have proven to be a graveyard for political careers.

@280 Never mind BPA, there’s a bigger problem looming:
https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/murray-trump-layoffs-leave-hanford-nuclear-site-with-skeleton-crew/?
Although nobody has been talking about it, I figured this would happen. Not specifically the firings and layoffs, but rather defunding the cleanup, which employs 10,000 people and costs billions a year. Trump and Musk, of course, don’t have to live next door to the radioactive mess the Manhattan Project and Cold War nuclear weapons buildup left behind. Neither does any Republican senator. If Hanford’s corroded and leaking radioactive waste storage tanks rupture and spill their contents into the Columbia River, Portland could become uninhabitable, but never mind that. Portland residents are all antifa, anyway.
Sec Def BeerBong McShotgun is being audited for failing to pay his taxes.
So of course he blames “woke DEI” and Biden.
The Trump-Musk duo are hellbent on cutting federal spending on programs conservatives don’t like, and with GOP cooperation in Congress, the budget axe is likely to fall most heavily on federal spending on health care.
Medicare has its own dedicated funding (although that doesn’t necessarily render it immune), but Medicaid is the program most likely to bear the brunt of moving billions of dollars from health care to Elon’s pockets (taxpayers won’t get anything out of this; Trump’s fiscal plans will increase deficits and debt).
If Trump-Musk and GOP congressmen can’t eliminate or sharply reduce the Medicaid spending (including ACA) that provides basic health care to tens of millions of Americans, then they want to shovel those expenses onto the states.
If the wild spending cuts are a backlash against the welfare state; well, for every backlash, there’s a backlash to the backlash. Where will states get the money to take over the federal share of Medicaid, you ask?
An answer is in sight: the growing “tax the rich” movement. It won’t get any traction at the federal level while Republicans control the White House and Congress, but it turns out it’s growing, well, like wildfire at the state level. For example, in last week’s local municipal elections, Seattle voters passed a millionaire tax.
But it’s not confined to Seattle. “Tax the rich” is gathering momentum in lots of other places, too. Read and enjoy:
https://www.commondreams.org/opinion/states-tax-the-rich
Currently, the federal government collects about two-thirds of all taxes paid in the U.S., and state and local governments collect the other third. Federal taxes tend to be progressive, while state and local taxes tend to be regressive. Let’s say the Trump-Musk era of slash-and-burn flips the script so two-thirds or even half of taxes are paid to state and local governments. Doesn’t it make sense, then, to make those taxes less regressive by taxing the rich? And if this happens in tandem with untaxing the rich at the federal level, the rich won’t be worse off, they’ll just be paying the same amount to different tax collectors.
Makes sense to me.
USDA says it accidentally fired officials working on bird flu and is trying to rehire them
Republicans campaigned against “defunding the police,” a fake issue, because no police got defunded. But gullible voters swallowed it whole, and elected Republicans. Now the entire fucking government is being defunded.
You’re going to die in the next pandemic. Or in a plane crash, or from untested drugs, or unsafe food. Or from lack of medical care or from unaffordable insulin or from mass starvation. It doesn’t matter what you die from; you’re gonna die. This administration will make sure of it.
That’s intentional and by design, too.

Unlike in your neighborhood(we know how much you love Asian neighbors…not), we love the locals and they love us. We have great relationships with locals and expats. Being respectful and intelligent goes a long ways….too bad you possess neither trait.

So far no Democrat has assembled into a heavily armed mob, ferryied machine guns across the Patomac river, attacked Congress while attempting to assasinate the Vice President, and beaten police officers to death with hockey sticks and fire extinguishers.
But we will continue to monitor the tense situation existing in the pus-filled syphilis tumor in Puddy’s prefrontal cortex.
