Last week’s contest was won by Darryl. It was the hockey arena in Johnstown, PA, whose minor league hockey team in the 1970s, the Jets, became the inspiration for the movie Slapshot.
This week’s contest is a location somewhere in Washington state, good luck!

“minor league hockey time”
Did you mean minor league hockey team?
Looks like West Seattle or a little south of there. It has to be on Puget Sound — it wouldn’t be on the coast because ocean waves would batter that cabin cruiser on the mooring, and north Seattle is lined with bluffs. It’s not an inland water, such as Lake Roosevelt, because a high-tide line is visible. Possibly it could be across the Sound on Bainbridge Island, but I think it’s in the area between Alki Point and Tacoma.

At first I looked at the northwestward facing shores of Vashon-Maury (where I lived as a small child), then zooming out and looking for similarly oriented shorelines in the general vicinity.
I totally enjoy Roger Rab’s half hearted analysis. he’s always spot on, but not willing to spend much time looking at the map (too busy hating cyclists). This took 4 minutes.
I dedicate this one to the FWHS class of 1983 and to one member of the class of 1984 who never saw it coming!

Good win!

Yeah, I fucked that up. It’s fixed now.

@2 I haven’t figured out yet how to do those Bing map searches, so I just try to get an approximate fix from clues in the photos.

@4 you keep odd hours.
1. go to bing.com/maps
2. scroll and zoom around and find your location
3. click on the share (envelope) button in the upper right corner of the map – a dialog box will pop up with a URL for the map you’ve zoomed in upon
4. copy and paste that address as needed.
