Some had already lost their cases and, like the Council’s client Edicson Quintero Chacón, were actively hoping to be deported back to Venezuela, while others had pending cases and strong asylum claims that had yet to be heard. Some have no ties to the United States, while others have family and loved ones there, with at least one person married to a U.S. citizen.

    Some of these documents contain untrue and sensationalist claims made against

    If you had actually read the MSNOW piece you would have seen this:

    “Government agencies, including the FBI, routinely evaluate, replace and update vehicle fleets based on usage, security needs or budgetary decisions,” he said. “The specific decisions referenced in this article were evaluated partly as a way to save taxpayers millions by picking cheaper selections or making cost structures more efficient.”

    The government has a contract with BMW for the armored luxury SUVs; specifically, the State Department uses them to protect diplomats and other officials in high-risk environments around the world.

    The US government will be ordering as many as 600 of the BMW armored sedans over a 10-year period, according to a plan established prior to the DJT47 Trump administration that 50% of armored vehicles be OEM by FY2025 (which began in October, 2024, when Biden was president).

    The BMW is the same model as that used overseas by US diplomats in the State Department. Apparently BMW does better at armoring vehicles as part of the manufacturing process and has a better global maintenance/repair network than does GM. All of this was determined before Patel was confirmed.

    The Department of State plans to award a sole-source Indefinite-Delivery-Indefinite-Quantity (ID/IQ) contract to BMW of North America for one base year and nine one-year option periods. The contract will cover the procurement of armored midsize BMW X5 and X7 SUVs, as well as 7 Series sedans, in both left-hand drive (LHD) and right-hand drive (RHD) configurations for DS/DEAV.     Finally, the Chevrolet Suburban starts at $63,400. The BMW X5 starts at $67,600. How silly is the liberal argument that by using a vehicle used elsewhere in government, at similar cost to the government, Kash Patel is somehow living large at our expense.
