I could care less about rush limbaugh. Of more interest are the state legislative races.
What’s the difference between Rush Limbaugh and the Hindenburg?
One is a flaming Nazi gasbag…
The other is just a zeppelin.
Limbaugh? Limbaugh? Isn’t he a little known pharma-cyst?
It is interesting to note the definition of an arrest. Some of the media are indicating that he was arrested – others are indicating that he appeared in court and plead not guilty to the charge of Doctor shopping with the qualification that he keep to his program of ensuring he did not become re-addicted. That is not being arrested.
It is interesting that the Democrat DA was not able to pursue anything other than a medical addiction after the last four or so years even though it appeared that he was hell-bent to put Limbaugh in Jail just to prove a point.
I was sitting at my computer working around 3. Heard story on Fox that Limbaugh settled. “Good” I thought.
Then I started reading stuff about him being “arrested”. WTF I thought? Somebody got the story screwed up. Did Fox get it wrong? Better check it out.
Flaming headlines about him being arrested. Huh? WTF Is going on? Turns out old media was just busy putting another nail in their coffin.
The world is different now. Old media has lost monopoly on what is news and how it’s reported. Talk radio, blogs like sp, cable, etc are out there to make sure the truth is told.
What I find hilarious is that the exact same time old media is spewing out their hate and lies, Goldy is here sucking his thumb wondering why old media is dying and calling himself “journalist”. Goldy, yet not a journalist. Not in any sense of the world. You’re just a partisan hack. That’s OK… but don’t confuse the two.
Mark the Yellowneck:
In small words for you to understand:
Rush agreed to a deal.
Rush then surrendered to police and was arrested and booked.
He was then arraigned in court, and plead not-guilty.
As part of his plea agreement, no charges will be filed as long as he is a good boy and sins no more for 18 months. If he commits a crime and gets arrested again for anything, the charges go forward.
So, Rush cut a deal, was arrested, and will now have to be a good boy based upon his deal with the prosecutor.
Clear yet?
Gosh Mark, it sure is fun to hear you try and spin this into something that supports your view of reality. I guess it fits for someone who seems to be proud to call himself a redneck.
How about if you define that term, “redneck”, for us. What is a redneck to you? What should that mean to us.
This is standard procedure for most first time drug offenders
Spin Guy @4
“That is not being arrested.”
Well let’s see. There was a warrant for his arrest. He was in police custody. He was booked and fingerprinted. He appeared before a judge. Sounds like being “arrested” to me!!!
I don’t know if Limbaugh was being prosecuted by the State of Florida or federal authorities. It’s not worth my time to check it out. But it might be important because of how this would be handled proceedurally.
The State of Washington, like many other states, has a “deferred prosecution” arraingment where a defendant who admits that his crime was caused by an alchohol or drug addiction can have the prosecution of the case deferred until after he satisfactoraly completes an alchohol or drug treatment program, pays some administrative costs to the courts, and stays out of trouble for a while. There are limits on how many times this can be used. If the defendant doesn’t commit another crime and is successful in completing the program, the charges are dismissed eventually. But if the defendant commits another crime, he/she will be charged with the new crime and prosecution will also be resumed for the old crim.
The reason I mentioned the question about whether this was a state or federal case was because I don’t know if there is a similar federal program, and I certainly don’t know the details of any program Florida has.
But the whole reason that this wasn’t done earlier was because Limbaugh wouldn’t admit he committed a crime. He admitted he had a drug problem, blamed it on his doctors and other circumstances, but he refused to admit any responisbility on his part. Therefore, until recently, he didn’t qualify for the deferred prosecution program.
But for someone who admits that they had a drug problem, then taking this route is really a no-brainer. Follow the rules, don’t get in trouble, and the whole thing eventually goes away. Officially, his record is still clean. Only his pride kept this whole thing going so long.
Old media intentionally misrepresented the essence of the story. I’m not gonna defend what Limbaugh did… it was dumb… he agrees.
But old media librul bias comes out loud and clear here. That’s my only point…
Following up on the “arrest” issue:
It doesn’t matter if you voluntarily surrender yourself or the police haul you kicking and screaming into the patrol car. The justice system will not move forward to arrainment until you are booked, photographed, and fingerprinted. At that point you are under “arrest”. A judge may decide to grant you bail, but you are still under “arrest”, pending trial or other final disposition of the charges.
Wiz – It’s so you’ll misunderestimate me…
“Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. … And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up,”
-Rush Limbaugh, 1995
Interesting how rich Republicans always tend to get a free pass with deferred prosecution. It helped that Rush had William Kennedy Smith’s attorney to save his fat ass.
I wonder how long Limbaugh wife #4 will last. Didja know the gays are destroying marriage, right wing trolls?
Three DUI’s and one vehicular homicide between George W, Laura and Dick. What a fine record of “walking what you talk.”
HOW MARK THE REDNECK’S INVISIBLE HAND WORKS (WHEN IT’S NOT BUSY JERKING HIM OFF)
Oil is not only our most important fuel, but also is a feedstock for most fertilizers, many chemicals and plastics, and so on. Higher oil prices increase the cost of growing, harvesting, and transporting food; of making and delivering many manufactured products; and of delivering everything on retail shelves.
In addition, when oil prices rise, demand for alternative fuels increases, e.g. natural gas and coal. Consequently, it costs more to heat our homes, and products made from natural gas and coal (including steel, chemicals, and fertilizers) go up.
In short, higher oil prices trickle through the whole economy, raising the prices of nearly everything purchased by consumers.
Higher consumer prices cause workers to demand higher wages, leading to cost-push inflation. If employers give these wage increases, they pass their higher labor costs on to consumers in higher prices, leading to further inflation — and more demands for wage increases.
If workers don’t get raises to compensate for the reduced purchasing power of their paychecks, they’re forced to buy less, which leads to recession.
So what is causing spiking oil prices?
Bush’s IDIOTIC energy policies that repealed tax breaks for gas saving vehicles, granted tax breaks for buying gas guzzlers, and relaxed fuel efficiency standards for automakers.
Bush’s IDIOTIC economic policies that send good-paying U.S. manufacturing jobs overseas, and send U.S. consumer dollars to countries like India and China, who use our money to bid up the price of oil.
Bush’s IDIOTIC budget and tax policies that have increased the national debt by $3 trillion (and counting), much of which is being purchased by China, who is using interest collected from U.S. taxpayers to bid up the price of oil.
Bush’s IDIOTIC war in Iraq, which (1) shut down production from one of the world’s major oil producers, and (2) is consuming huge quantities of petroleum for military operations.
MTR is a proven decider.
Well, Mark the Yellowback, apparently the old media includes Fox News (which is still leading every show and every news break with “Rush Limbaugh Arrested”) and Drudge.
And, let’s face it, the heart of the matter is that he was arrested and took a plea agreement.
I am surprised no one in the MSM has stepped forward with fake documents yet. Hell get Rush in real trouble by claiming he flushed the Koran down the toilet in a drug induced haze. Is the liberal media losing it. Hahahahahahaha

Two questions that Republicans refuse to answer about gas prices:
1) Name an industry that has record profits when its raw supplies go up in cost? If the price of wheat goes up, Bakers do not make out like bandits.
2) If price is set by suppply and demand, then the amount of taxes placed upon gas do not matter. Take out all taxes, and demand will go up until the same price is reached.
SEATTLE REWARDS WATER CUSTOMERS WITH HIGHER PRICES
Customers of the Seattle Water Department have been so successful at conserving water that the city is raising rates 15% because current water sales aren’t bringing in enough money.
ROGER RABBIT’S CHART OF SEATTLE WATER RATES
If you use 100 cu. ft. per month, they charge you 30 cents a cu. ft., so your bill is $30.00 a month.
If you use 90 cu. ft. per month, they charge you 33 cents a cu. ft., so your bill is $30.00 a month.
If you use 80 cu. ft. per month, they charge you 37 1/2 cents a cut. ft., so your bill is $30.00 a month
If you use 60 cu. ft. per month, they charge you 50 cents a cu. ft., so your bill is $30.00 a month.
If you use 50 cu. ft. per month, they charge you 60 cents a cu. ft., so your bill is $30.00 a month.
If you use 25 cu. ft. per month, they charge you $1.20 a cu. ft., so your bill is $30.00 a month.
If you use 0 cu. ft. per month, they charge you a non-optional service fee of $30.00 for keeping your account open.

“2) If price is set by suppply and demand, then the amount of taxes placed upon gas do not matter. Take out all taxes, and demand will go up until the same price is reached.” Commentby JDB— 4/28/06@ 7:11 pm
This is absolutely right, and is a point I made in my posts in the threads about the state gas tax. If wingnuts were running our state, we’d be stuck in traffic jams on creaky old bridges until they fall down, and we WOULD NOT PAY ONE CENT LESS at the pump — the nickel would be going into oil company pockets.
And if Congress had gone along with the fucktard wackos who wanted to suspend the federal gas tax, you’d still be paying the same price for gas, and the gas tax money would be going into oil company pockets.
Even the Republican congressmen saw through that one.
The only way to bring down oil prices is to USE LESS OIL. But any consumer efforts along those lines are almost certainly futile, because if we use less fuel, the energy pigs who drive Hummers and live in 7,000 square foot McMansions will just use more!
Of course, nobody is stopping to think that all the huge homes being built everywhere you look have to be HEATED and will increase energy consumption for as long as they stand, i.e. the next 100 years.

But hey! The Cedar Hills Landfill will be full soon, and after they cover it over with a six-foot layer of fill dirt and developers begin building upscale homes on top of it, you’ll have an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of methane gas heating.

“But old media librul bias comes out loud and clear here. That’s my only point…” Commentby Mark The Redneck— 4/28/06@ 6:54 pm
MTR’s comment about “media librul bias” is classic wingnut. First of all, nearly all of America’s media are owned by rich Republicans, and MSM has a decidedly conservative slant — just count the number of columnists on each side, and/or consider how much restraint the MSM has exercised in reporting the lies, frauds, and failures of the Bush administration. That remarkable restraint has existed largely because the media owners (and the editors who depend on them for a paycheck) are sympathetic to Republican aims.
Now let’s talk about editorial judgment for a moment.
Most people go to an M.D. when they’re ill, not a witch doctor. Why? Because an M.D. has the training, knowledge, and experience to do a correct diagnosis and prescribe appropriate treatment, whereas a witch doctor doesn’t know what’s wrong with the patient or how to treat it, and only sells you some ineffectual mysticism. If you get better after seeing a witch doctor, it’s pure coincidence.
MSM news editors are the M.D.s of the journalism world; wingnut bloggers like Drudge and Sharansky are the journalistic equivalent of witch doctors — they tell you what they think you want to hear. The Stefans of the world strive to reaffirm your beliefs and ideology, no matter how wrong or invalid your thinking may be.
Like M.D.s, the professional news editors have the training, knowledge, and experience to exercise sound judgment and deliver a reliable news product. The right-wing witch doctors of the blogosphere are selling mysticism that does you about as much good as howling at the moon.
What Mark the Redneck is really saying, when he tells us he doesn’t trust the news judgments of professional MSM journalists, is that he’s the type of person who would rather go to a witch doctor than an M.D. for medical advice, or to a tarot card reader instead of a qualified investment adviser or stockbroker for investment advice.
To each his own. You get what you pay for, and it’s pretty obvious from MTR’s posts that his political, economic, and social thinking is of the witch doctor variety.
34
Redneck, I’m pretty sure the only thing you make is what ends up in the barrel at the bottom of the outhouse.

A little translation for the new visitors here…
“Old Media” means the big three networks which have 15-30 times the audience of all cable news outlets combined.
“Arrested” from dictionary.com “The act of detaining in legal custody: the arrest of a criminal suspect” since that fits Lush Flimbaugh to a tee today he was in fact arrested and you gotta love how desperate the righties are that they’re trying to parse words here. Their fucking hero went to jail and got fingerprinted and had mug shot made. Anyone I know would call that being arrested.
And finally, here’s the best part. At some point in time, some inbred chickenshit moron on the right is going to find a way to blame Bill Clinton for Lush Flimbaugh becoming a drug addict!
You see, Mark, no matter how technically correct you may be about economic mechanics, you are wrong most of the time because you have a MYOPIC view of the world. You see only economic equations on a blackboard. What you completely fail to grasp is that the world is filled with human beings who are not perfectly rational calculating machines. More often than not, their behavior and decisions are governed by emotion, miscalculation, and/or bad or incomplete information. Consequently, theoretical formulas work imperfectly at best. There is ALWAYS imbalance in markets, and there are ALWAYS irrational and even self-destructive decisions being made.
Conservative ideology is an ant farm. It makes for an interesting Ph.D. thesis, but has damned little to do with how things actually work in the real world.

Rabbit @ 39 – There’s a shred of truth in your statement about saudis. One of the weaknesses of cartels is that every member has an incentive to cheat. OPEC meets to decide total quanity of oil to pump to maximize revenue. That takes about 30 minutes in a 3 day meeting. The rest of the time is spent deciding who gets allocated how much of the total.
But each member has an incentive to cheat, because at the revenue curve is flat at the top. So gilding the lily a little bit isn’t noticeable, but after a while, they all join in and the agreement breaks up. That’s what works in our favor… that the oil is controlled by a cartel of kooks.
MTR’s comment about “media librul bias” is classic wingnut. First of all, nearly all of America’s media are owned by rich Republicans, and MSM has a decidedly conservative slant

Oh no!!!! Hawaii will be under water soon if I don’t vote Democrat and raise taxes on the rich [anyone working in the private sector]!!! We need to raise taxes on gas by 2 to 3 dollars and listen to Al Gore!!!!! [Democrats: economic and social idiots]
And Democrat dumbass liberals wonder why prices for energy are high [But I thought Democrat WANTED HIGHER gas prices??] ………..
Dem energy policy [ex Hollywood Democrats, Kerry and Kennedy’s private jets, 110 ft Chris Crafts, mansions, water craft, and SUVs]
– tax and litigate as many energy/oil/transportation/retailers/corner gas station owners [ producers] as possible
– don’t drill anywhere, ingore the Russian drilling in Siberia, but it’s OK for the Chicomms and Cubans to drill 75 miles from Key West, FL because they are sweet and socialist. – blame Bush
– don’t pursue nuclear power. Jane Fonda’s movie taught all Democrats everything they need to know!! Only the French should because they are socialist.
– Always blame Bush
– don’t allow new hydro
– blame oil companies. Tax them even more. Add 50 cents more in taxes per gallon, then blame Bush for higher pump prices!!!.
– tear down old hydro
– blame Republicans. Oil Companies must not show any profits. Profits are evil.
– don’t allow wind mills if they spoil a Kennedy view off Cape Cod.
– blame people that drive to work alone. Make them use bikes and/or walk. No horses because of horse poop. Democrat welfare hacks who need to power their 42 inch Sony plasma HDTVs in Detroit, Gary, Philly, and South Central LA are OK.
– don’t use coal. Coal kills.
– blame businesses that use energy to produce products or generate jobs. “Guvment” jobs: good, private sector jobs: bad, must tax them until they go away.
– don’t give incentives to anyone, anywhere to find and develop hydrocarbons. “All you need is love”!!
– blame capitalists and shareholders of any energy/oil companies for being “greedy”. Russian oil companies are OK. So are Chicomm energy companies. EXXON is a four letter word!!

You’re missing my point, Redneck. What I said is the Saudis are acting against their own long-term economic self-interest by pumping at current levels. They’re doing it for non-economic reasons. That’s the whole point — political, not economic, considerations are driving their production decisions.

Really? How come most of the world’s monarchies are gone? Why was the Church’s power broken during the Renaissance? Why did they call it “the Renaissance?” The entire history of human progress is the history of advances in liberal scientific, political, economic, and social thinking.
The only thing conservatives have ever done is stand in the way of change and fight for the preservation of entrenched power and privilege.
One of the biggest conservative myths and lies of all is that of “free market competition.” Conservatives want neither free markets nor competition! Their unfailing goal is always market dominance, monopoly, and eliminating the competition!
When conservatives can’t establish monopolies, fix prices, and subjugate labor by manipulating markets, they do it by overthrowing democratically elected governments and installing fascist dictatorships.
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!!!
“Perhaps the May 1st boycott should give America a glimpse into “A Day Without ILLEGAL Immigration.”
What would that May 1st look like without illegal immigration? There would be no one to smuggle across our southern border the heroin, marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamines that plague the United States, reducing the U.S. supply of meth that day by 80%. The lives of 12 U.S. citizens would be saved who otherwise die a violent death at the hands of murderous illegal aliens each day. Another 13 Americans would survive who are otherwise killed each day by uninsured drunk driving illegals. Our hospital emergency rooms would not be flooded with everything from gunshot wounds, to anchor babies, to imported diseases to hangnails, giving American citizens the day off from standing in line behind illegals. Eight American children would not suffer the horror as a victim of a sex crime.
On the negative side, the price of a pound of tomatoes might go up from $0.79 to $0.80. That is unless you have a garden. But I’m guessing that the Mexican drug lords are not taking May 1st off. Neither will the 11,000 illegal invaders that pour over our border every other day of the year.”

Settlement Agreement Ends State Investigation of Rush Limbaugh
April 28, 2006
Palm Beach, FL – April 28, 2006 – In response to media and other inquiries, Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh’s attorney, released the following statement today concerning a settlement agreement with the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office to end the investigation of Mr. Limbaugh:
“I am pleased to announce that the State Attorney’s Office and Mr. Limbaugh have reached an agreement whereby a single count charge of doctor shopping filed today by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months. As a primary condition of the dismissal, Mr. Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years. This is the same doctor under whose care Mr. Limbaugh has remained free of his addiction without relapse.
“Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping, and we continue to hold this position. Accordingly, we filed today with the Court a plea of ‘Not Guilty’ to the charge filed by the State.
“As part of this agreement, Mr. Limbaugh also has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation. The agreement also provides that he must refrain from violating the law during this 18 months, must pay $30 per month for the cost of “supervision” and comply with other similar provisions of the agreement.
“Mr. Limbaugh had intended to remain in treatment. Thus, we believe the outcome for him personally will be much as if he had fought the charge and won.”
The actions taken today are as follows:
• The State Attorney has filed a single charge of doctor shopping with the Court. The charge is being held in abeyance under the terms of an agreement between the State and Mr. Limbaugh.
• Mr. Limbaugh has filed a plea of “Not Guilty” with the Court.
The formal agreement between Mr. Limbaugh and the State Attorney will be filed with the Court on Monday. The terms of the agreement are substantively as follows:
• Mr. Limbaugh will continue in treatment with the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years.
• After Mr. Limbaugh completes an additional 18 months of treatment, the State Attorney has agreed to drop the charge.
• Mr. Limbaugh has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation.

LOL
ACTUALLY… YES
Proud Ass @ 89, I get your point.
You repeat what I say, and pretend you are clever.
Not a bad plan.
Except you have nothing to back it up.

Uh… 68 presidential approval. That is the topic.
Are you stupid, or did you get a raise from the NRC for “creative obsfucation”?
Proud Ass. Do you think that pulling the name of an inner circle Republican polster once, gives you carte blanche in pulling numbers out of your ass?
awww DonnieGetsNone, are you going to whine that the SV poll is rigged… sorta like this…
How To Rig A Poll (or, Breaking Down The Latest AP/Ipsos Poll)
Posted by bulldogpundit on Friday, 06 January 2006 (16:07:43) EST
Contributed by bulldogpundit
You’ll likely be hearing orgasmic Democrats and the MSM crowing about this AP Ipsos poll which has the headline “Voters Seem More Ready To End GOP Control Of Congress”. The poll shows the following:Quote:
Wrong Track – 65%/Right Track – 32%
Bush Approval Rating – 59% Disapprove/40% Approve
Who Do You Want To Control Congress – 49% – Democrats/36%- Republicans
Sounds bad, huh? Well, as we’ve said before you (and the GOP leaders) shouldn’t use these polls as any kind of indicator as to what could happen in 2006, which is certainly how the MSM will spin it.
But here’s what you won’t see in the news stories. – the demography of the poll respondents
First, only 81% of respondents were even eligible to vote, and there’s no indication of how many of them actually went to the polls in 2004..
1. Party Leanings – The poll is slanted 52-40% towards Democrats, even though the voters in the 2004 election were split evenly at 37% between Republicans and Democrats.
2. Religion – Next, a whopping 19% of respondents had “no” religion, while in 2004 only 10% of voters had “no” religion, and they voted overwhelmingly for Kerry (+36%).
3. Age of Respondents In this poll 31% of the respondents were between 18-34, even though the 18-29 year olds (a slightly smaller demo) only made up 17% of the electorate in the 2004 election. I think it’s pretty safe to say that by including 30-34 year olds that number would still not have come close to the IPSOS sample.
4. Income Level of Respondents – This one is amazing. In this poll 15% of respondents made under $15,000 per year. In 2004, only 8% of voters were in this income bracket, and voted 63-36% for Kerry.
5. Marital Status – In this poll, only 56% of respondents are married. In 2004, 63% of voters were married, and voted 57-42% for Bush.
6. Geography – In this poll, only 17% of respondents were from “rural” areas. In 2004, 25% of voters were from rural areas, and voted 57-42% for Bush.
7. Race – In this poll, there were 71% white respondents and 12% Hispanic respondents. In 2004, 77% of voters were white, and only 8% Hispanic. Bush won the white vote 58-41% and Kerry the Hispanic vote 53-44%.
More donkeyworm BS for poor ol’ DDonnieGetsNone.
Man this is FUN!
It is like Tony Snow taking over for Scotty McClellan.

NeoCons = changing names to tell the same old lies
Proud Ass @ 100. Bravo! You tried to spin reality, with out ever touching it!
You can try to change the opinion of the US populace by denying their feelings (as the Corporate Media always tries) but, in the end… the NeoCon machine has told its last lie.
You loose, the USA wins.
You can sputter ands try to spin, but your old lies are not believed anymore.
Get over it.
Or not. I don’t give a fuck.
You are history, and no amount of spin will change that.
Hope you like being the historical equal of a Nazi Sympathizer!!!
You are going to be soooo popular at picnics as sad clown!
Woman, 76, sentenced in check scam
She pocketed dead mother’s pension for years
By TRACY JOHNSON
P-I REPORTER
A 76-year-old Bothell woman who pocketed more than $215,000 by cashing her dead mother’s pension checks for almost 20 years was sentenced Friday to four months of home detention and must repay the money.
U.S. District Judge Marsha Pechman in Seattle told Joanne Van Dyke she was also ordering her to serve 50 hours of community service “so you can hold your head high and say ‘I gave back.’ ”
Van Dyke, whose husband, Richard, was a Republican state House representative before taking his life in 1986, pleaded guilty earlier this year to theft of public money, according to court documents.
…
Van Dyke, a mother of six and a great-grandmother, has “not had so much as a traffic ticket throughout her entire life,” her attorney, Jay Stansell, wrote in court documents.
He said she is devastated that a felony conviction will take away her right to vote.
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/.....ion29.html
Unfortunately, Joanne Van Dyke’s mother and husband are no longer on the voter registration rolls.
89
It’s surprising Gregoire gets 38% after the campaign of lies and bullshit run by the WSRP. What’s really surprising is the percentages who say the country is headed in the wrong direction and who say they would vote for Rossi in 2008 are roughly the same. Rossi and his party are the problem, not the solution! Obviously, a lot of people aren’t connecting the dots.
And now with the Dead Republican Con Report is HA’s own Richard Pope.
You attempt to use NeoCon as a slur, DDDDDonnieGetsNone, but for those of us who despise everything liberalism stands for, it is the highest praise…
NEOCON
n : a conservative who subscribes to neoconservativism
neoconservative
An intellectual and political movement in favor of political, economic, and social conservatism that arose in opposition to the perceived liberalism of the 1960s
Kevin Carns @93 et al.
Hey Kevin how are things going for average Americans now that you guys have been running the government for 5 years?
Short answer: Washington state government is working because Democrats are running it. The federal government is dysfunctional and corrupt because Republicans are running it. End of story.
Yea, you’re running it… straight to hell..
12. Do you think Washington is headed in the right direction or the wrong direction?

You forgot the “Endless War. Double Speak. Truth is Lies. Boot in the face of humanity forever” Part of your definition of Neocon.
But then Neocons are complete psycopathic liars, so it is understood.
“Dan Rather” I would mistake you for [JCH} but your grammar is superior.
psycopathic
could you define that for me, DDDDDonnieGetsNone, cuz gee willikers, at dictionary.com “No entry found for psycopathic”

“Left-wing roots of Neoconservative organizations
“The neoconservative desire to spread democracy abroad has been likened to the Trotskyist theory of permanent revolution. Author Michael Lind argues that the neoconservatives are influenced by the thought of Trotskyists such as James Burnham and Max Shachtman, who argued that ‘the United States and similar societies are dominated by a decadent, postbourgeois “new class”‘. He sees the neoconservative concept of ‘global democratic revolution’ as deriving from the Trotskyist Fourth International’s ‘vision of permanent revolution’. He also points to what he sees as the Marxist origin of ‘the economic determinist idea that liberal democracy is an epiphenomenon of capitalism’, which he describes as ‘Marxism with entrepreneurs substituted for proletarians as the heroic subjects of history.’ … Lind argues furthermore that ‘The organization as well as the ideology of the neoconservative movement has left-liberal origins’. He draws a line from the center-left anti-Communist Congress for Cultural Freedom to the Committee on the Present Danger to the Project for the New American Century and adds that ‘European social democratic models inspired the quintessential neocon institution, the National Endowment for Democracy.'” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neoconservative

I know Shrub needs to work harder. GHWB had a 29% opproval. He needs to work “harder” not “smarter”.
Maybe some smart conservative can explain why it is legal and constitutional for the Deficit Reduction Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 2005 to be signed into law when it was voted on in the Senate but not the House.
This is an action of neo-cons who know it is unconstitutional and illegal but who are going to do it anyway because they feel they are right about everything anyway, so what difference does it make if it’s illegal?
That’s why you guys are cheap labor corporatist fascists. You are wothless tritors who should reap the whirlwind if there is a God or any justice in this world.
The picture of Mussolini that I remember best is the one of his lifeless body hanging from a streetlamp and riddled with machine gun bullets. That’s where you neo-cons are headed.

Our side needs to do more of that stuff. What Morton Brilliant did actually was very mild because he told the TRUTH whereas when Republicans attack the opposition they use LIES and SMEARS.
It’s TRUE the GOP candidate’s son killed a passenger while driving drunk.
It’s TRUE the Seattle Times published an expose of Dino Rossi’s business dealings with a shady real estate shark.
Brilliant wasn’t tossed out of the Cox campaign for doing anything dirty or deceitful. He was tossed because Cox had promised she wouldn’t talk about her opponent’s “family tragedy” (a euphemism for the reckless behavior of an arrogant young scion of a powerful family whose actions amount to manslaughter). Cox, a Democrat, decided there was no place in her campaign for someone who uses REPUBLICAN tactics.
Hear hear. We are for the truth.
@ 123 “Courage Wabbit, Courage.”
“Dan Rather” you are getting none of the big WSRP money until you come up with a better (less repetitive) schtick!
I wonder if there’s room for a guy that allows a young woman to drown while he sobers up and gets his story straight… or for his nephew the multiple rapist… or his brother the lying womanizing prick…

I need to get back on with 60 minutes but how………. hey does

Ellen’s Epiphany
It has just dawned on Boston Globe columnist Ellen Goodman that John Kerry** is “a lousy presidential candidate”:
Let’s go to the 2004 videotape. In the primaries, Kerry was Everydemocrat’s second choice. After Super Tuesday, the common wisdom was that Kerry won because he could win. An Ohio voter even told a reporter, ”This guy just looks presidential. And in this country I think it’s all about the image.” It wasn’t a presidential primary, it was a presidential casting call.
Democrats are cute when they get pragmatic, but not necessarily successful. This time, the stalwarts were convinced they’d found a moderate who couldn’t be polarized. But he was. They thought they found a decorated veteran–three Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and a Silver Star–who couldn’t be trashed. But he was.
Kerry is not the only one who still imagines a thousand belated rejoinders for the swift boat attackers. He’s not the only one who cannot believe he actually said of Iraq war funding, ”I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it.”
OK, we understand that newspapers have earlier deadlines and all, but we were pointing out what a bad candidate Kerry was 1,239 days ago!
Which raises a disturbing possibility: If even Ellen Goodman has now figured it out, can Kerry himself be far behind? The 2008 Iowa caucus is still some 21 months away, plenty of time for Kerry to face reality. And if he does, what are we going to do for material?
** “My favorite Kerry Iraq position is #17. What’s yours?”

Ain’t it funny to watch the wingfucks get their panties in a twist because a Democratic campaign worker (Morton Brilliant) posts information in a couple of Wikipedia articles that is TRUE — yet they defend PHONY robo-calls by Kevin Carns that SMEAR Democratic candidates by posing as a sheriff’s department notification that FALSELY says a dangerous sex offender is living in their neighborhood because of their Democratic legislator.
What Brilliant did is nothing, absolutely nothing, it’s so trivial it doesn’t amount to a gnat’s fart! We should do the kind of shit Republicans do to our candidates to their candidates! Why not, it works. They’re doing it to us. If somebody rapes your daughter, do you say “naughty naughty” or do you GET A GUN and BLOW HIS FUCKING BALLS OFF??? Are we liberals mice, or are we rabbits? I say castrate Kevin Caarns! Castrate ALL the lying Republican bastards! Cut their fucking nuts off!!!

And I mean that in the most disrespectful way I can.
Neocons: Can’t run our record… so talk about stuff that happened long before we destroyed America.
Oh I see, you are only offended by RECENT murders, rapes and infidelity… got it!

“It has just dawned on Boston Globe columnist Ellen Goodman that John Kerry** is ‘a lousy presidential candidate'”
Let’s assume, for the sake of discussion, this is true. SO FUCKING WHAT??? If Kerry is a lousy presidential candidate, how does that make George W. Bush anything other than an unqualified, stupid, disastrous, corrupt, lying, crackhead who failed miserably at everything he ever did?
Proud Ass said “Oh I see, you are only offended by RECENT murders, got it!”
Uh, yeah. That is the only thing we can do while Bush is performing it.

I suppose you’ve all heard by now the CEO of Exxon is getting a $400,000,000 retirement package.
Sorry Wabbit — Morton Brilliant slimed a DEMOCRAT candidate in Georgia.
Remember that next time you pay $100 to fill up.
The funny thing about this expensive oil is that most of it comes from PUBLIC LANDS.
I’m not exactly sure how oil on public lands gets converted to private wealth, but I suspect it works the same way L & I taxes for injured workers gets converted to Rossi slush funds in Mr. Cynical’s BIAW washing machine.
@ 144 Yes RP we heard.
War Profiteering is really… profittable.
But it is kinda sick, don’t ya think?

My mistake — the REPUBLICAN candidate is none other than …
“The governor of Georgia, Sonny ‘Pigpen’ Perdue, has decided he doesn’t like his chances for reelection if he remains the only candidate covered in the dirt. So he gets one of his shameless goons, Doug Grammer, chairman of the Georgia Federation of Young Republicans Clubs, to start the dirt throwing and file frivolous ethics charges against Democratic candidates Mark Taylor, and more importantly, Cathy Cox.” http://undiscovered-country.blogspot.com/
Now I understand why Brilliant was asked to leave the Cox campaign — why sling mud at a Democratic primary opponent when you’ve got a sitting Republican governor to kick around? Especially a dirty underhanded one? Yep, it was unseemly and unchic for Morton Brilliant to do to a Democrat what he ought to be doing to Republicans. I’d fire him for that, too.
You know, not ‘your way’ meaning your impotence of NO POWER!
How soon is that 86 yr old gas bag, John Paul Stevens going to retire? Try as he migh, I don’t see him lasting through 08, let alone ANOTHER Republican presidency.
Put the old guy out to pasture already… it’s inevitable!
Come On Down, Janice Rogers Brown, you’re the next Associate Justice of The US Supreme Court!

Oh, I’m sure Redneck — who looks down on public service occupations because they don’t pay $200 an hour — will find some way to rationalize it.
Yessirreebob, as MTR will explain to you, the fact Lee Raymond is getting $400 Million while I’m only getting my own money back that was deducted from my paychecks shows AN OIL COMPANY PRICE GOUGER AND WAR PROFITEER is much more valuable to society than a public servant who puts up with endless amounts of shit from government-haters like MTR and the other trollfucks on this board to enforce the laws of our state and keep bullies and crooks from selling widows and orphans to slave traders.
Awww, sorry DuhDuhDuhDonnieGetsNone, I don’t work.. I don’t NEED to work and should I CHOOSE to work, it would be in the field of my degrees… how’s that McD University working out for you? I’d sure like to see you boost that D in breakfast to a C-

Until recently, the families only got $10,000 for a soldier’s life, but I believe it’s $100,000 now. So … 2,398 x $100,000 is $239,800,000 … the verdict is in … THE CEO OF EXXON IS MORE VALUABLE TO SOCIETY THAN ALL THE SOLDIERS KILLED IN IRAQ.
Look at those numbers again — a single oil company executive is getting a RETIREMENT BONUS that exceeds by about 60% ALL OF THE COMPENSATION PAID TO THE FAMILIES OF ALL OF THE SERVICEMEN AND WOMEN KILLED IN IRAQ.
As Redneck will explain to you, those $15,000-a-year public servants aren’t paid more because they just aren’t worth much.

Republicans like to live off other people’s work.
We have way too much wealth redistribution and SO-SHU-LISM in this country! As MTR says, the money should go to the producers! I.e., the people who actually work and make something. That would reduce all the Republicans to poverty, but who the fuck cares.

Can something legally be signed into law if it passes the Senate but is never voted on in the House and then the president signs it into law? This is what happened with the Budget Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 === the Act that defunds social services and college grants and loans.

And Democrat dumbass liberals wonder why prices for energy are high………..

Serious question for moonbats…
Meskins are going to have big immigration rally in Seattle next week.
Do any of you have trouble with the idea of citizens of a foreign country trying to dictate our laws? Or do you think the idea of sovereignty is wrong?
189 – I have problems with bigotry and intolerance.
Aptly named clueless – WTF does that mean?
and you as one of the most hate filled mean spirited people around here in your hatred and intolerance of people with conservative points of view. Guys like you have cornered the market on intolerance.
191 – I respect a conservative point of view. I have very little to no regard for a fascist point of view.
Fascism vs. Economic Liberty
Fascism is not a unique phenomenon. It is a logical conclusion to one of the two basic conceptions of social order. If one believes that, without the guidance of government, most people are incapable of knowing their own best interests and of doing the right thing to further their interests, then he is already moving in the direction of Fascism, albeit with the best of intentions.
Hence the liberal social-welfare, nanny-state, summed up by President Clinton’s press secretary Dee Dee Myers, who said that only the Federal government has the power to improve people’s lives.
Liberals believe that individual economic liberty, under the original Constitution, produces a society of greed, one in which there is too great a gap between the wealthiest and the poorest, a society in which true freedom therefore cannot exist. Unequal distribution of income is ipso facto suppression of the poor by the rich. For liberal icons like Michael Walzer freedom means that every individual, without regard to personal merit or productive work, has free access to all of society’s goods and services.
To attain that end, liberal government must assume increasingly dictatorial powers to redistribute income and become the provider of people’s basic needs.
Fascism can be traced to the writings of Joseph de Maistre immediately after the French Revolution. His conception of human nature led to the conclusion that people must be constrained by government to do whatever the authorities decided was in the national interest.
ASS: You’ve bottled it up all these months. Now let it out. Let that hate out!

‘Nother question for you moonbats:
Are you comfortable letting Iran have nuke technology? If so, why are you not concerned about the radical statements of their president.
If not, how long should we let this bullshit go on? Or do you think that Iran might respond to meaningless words on a piece of paper from the useless UN?
Proud – You nailed it. One of the best posts ever on HA.

It’s always amusing to visit the zoo, sit on a bench at Monkey Island eating popcorn, and watch the monkeys play with each other’s dicks.
This is going to be a very interesting 6 months. Just about all of the 2004 election contest’s wingnuts have ‘delighted’ us the past few days with their ‘wisdom’ and ‘honest perspectives’ (RMTFLMAO). How soon until PRR and Zip drop (as in gwb’s ratings) in?
195
Let’s put it this way, I’m not comfortable with Bush having nukes. It’s appalling that Bush might seriously consider using nukes to keep Iran from getting nukes. If he can’t take out Iran’s nuclear facilities with conventional military means, he shouldn’t do it at all. Using even a small “bunker buster” nuke against Iran would open a colossal pandora’s box. Hiroshima and Nagaski were one thing; those bombs ended World War II. No such justification or rationalization exists for a nuclear attack against Iran. If Bush does it, it will set off a nuclear arms race that won’t end until every tinpot dictator in the world has nuclear weapons.
Are you prepared to fight the whole world to prevent nuclear proliferation? The technology is out there, and using a nuclear weapon against a non-nuclear Third World country would create an overwhelming temptation for every other country to acquire nuclear arms. I don’t think it can be stopped in any event, but using our nuclear weapons for anything other than retaliation for a nuclear attack against the U.S. would precipitate a rush to acquire defensive nuclear arms.
The bellicose saber-rattling so endearing to wingnuts encourages nuclear proliferation, of course. If you don’t want the U.S. crawling all over your ass, get nuclear arms. Wingnuts also favor nuclear power — which is a great way to put nuclear technology and material in more hands.
A well-planned and executed surgical strike conceivably could take out Iran’s nuclear facilities without serious fallout. The problem is, this administration has repeatedly demonstrated it isn’t capable of planning or executing anything well, and they don’t seem to learn from their past mistakes. Hell, they won’t even admit to making mistakes. So let’s ponder for a moment the consequences of an attack on Iran that miscarries.
First of all, you now have three wars going on simultaneously, so ask yourself where you’re going to get the troops and how you can finance it without conscription and war taxes. Secondly, if you’re less than wholly effective in putting the Iranian military out of action, they’ll shut down the Strait of Hormuz, which cuts off half of the world’s oil supply and precipitates a global economic depression. Third, even in the best case scenario, you lose Iran’s oil production to the world market, so you’re certainly looking at $100 a barrel oil and $5 a gallon at the pump, which probably triggers a U.S. recession of some severity, and possibly also double-digit inflation as energy prices ripple through the whole economy. So you have to ask yourself if it’s worth it, if the threat is serious enough to bear the probable consequences. Finally, what if you get bogged down in Iran and now have a hugely expensive and hugely bloody war on your hands that you can’t extricate yourself from?
There is absolutely no reason to do this to protect Israel. The Israelis are perfectly capable of protecting themselves. They certainly have nuclear weapons, and if a nuclear armed Iran is foolish enough to attack Israel, they can kiss their butts goodbye.
The president of Iran? No problem. Not one we have to deal with, anyway. He’s a gasbag with little power, and most of what he says is for domestic political consumption. If he really intended to wipe Israel off the map, he would have tried it by now. No, he’s just working the Iranian crowds for votes. Israel-bashing plays well in his venue. The imams hold the real power, and they’re not about to let this loon decide the fate of their country (and their own asses). You are making much ado of an inconsequential irritant.
Good post Rabbit. At least you thought it through.
I disagree about the characteriztion of “inconsequential irritant”. You sound like JFK where he talked about it as a “nuisance not a threat”. I really hope you’re right and I’m wrong.
But in a post 9-11 world, I think it’s foolish in the extreme to allow these kinds of people to have that kind of power. It is up to them to prove that they’re NOT a threat; not up to the civilized world to prove that they ARE. I’d much rather shoot first and ask questions later. I agree that the consequences of doing so would be bad, but I think the consequences of NOT doing so would be much much worse.
MTR @ 200, of course you’d rather shoot first. You were the guy who proposed exterminating all of the muslims on the planet.
By the way, if you are going to be taken seriously you need to offer a plan for implementing this initiative. The Nazis had a well-thought out implementation plan. Were you going to pull off the shelf their ideas, or did you think some fresh thinking is in order?
Rabbit 199 – I also find it deeply offensive and pretty telling that you’re a card carrying member of the “Hate America First” crowd that doesn’t trust US government to act responsibly in the best interests of our country. Madelaine Halfbright had the same idea… that it wasn’t “fair” for us to be able to win any conflict any time any place, and sought to weaken us to make wars “fair”.
We are not an expansionist country. We defend ourselves. We occasionally act is world cop to cleanup various cesspools. But that’s a whole different thing than seeking to wipe another country off the map as Iran wants to do or to take over the world as Stalin wanted.
Thumb – Events over the next 10 years or so will provide all the impetus that’s needed.
200 – omigod.
in a post 9-11 world,
When you see this, you just know some major disastrous bullshit is going to be promoted. And here it is:
I’d much rather shoot first and ask questions later.
We are not an expansionist country. We defend ourselves.
Hmmm.. With at least seven hundred foreign military bases scattered around the world, 13 naval task forces providing oil tanker escort service and a vast technical spy network..
That’s some “occasional” type of police force.
Gee with any luck the Rabbit will be paying half his retirement on meds and with any luck he will fuckoff and die.
Thumb – STFU. You don’t have the intellectual background to engage in this discussion.
You and dondon go jack each other off.
MTR @ 203:
You didn’t answer my question: How do you intend to carry out such a large-scale act of genocide?
If you’ve done your homework you know that the Nazis developed very sophisticated mechanisms for implementing the Holocaust. However, your proposed genocide would be much, much larger, and so would require all the greater organizational complexity.
Case in point: The Nazis needed to develop a system for deciding who was Jewish. What is your system for deciding who is Muslim? What about converted Muslims? What about those who are U.S. citizens by birth?
That latter question has interesting constitutional issues. Do you believe that a U.S. citizen by birth can be exterminated by the government purely on the basis of their religion?
MTR
“Meskins are going to have big immigration rally in Seattle next week.”
Actually, Mark, large numbers of local citizens of all races and national origins will be rallying, and there may or may not be citizens of other contries there. Those ralliers have every right to speak their minds regarding US policies.
And I believe that citizens of other nations have every right to speak THEIR minds about the legal policies of this country that affect them.

What would your suggestions be on our immigration problems??
MTR @ 195
“Are you comfortable letting Iran have nuke technology? If so, why are you not concerned about the radical statements of their president? If not, how long should we let this bullshit go on? Or do you think that Iran might respond to meaningless words on a piece of paper from the useless UN?”
We can’t “let” Iran have “nuclear technology” or “not let Iran have nuclear technology.” Don’t be stupid. If they don’t have the capability, they can get it any time they want from our buddies in Pakistan. But that’s either a hopelessly vague or purposely loaded question. Let me put it this way. Iran is a signatory to the NNPT and is a member of the IAEA. As such, they have every right to peacefully enrich uranium for the purposes of generating nuclear power. That is what they are doing.
You may think they have other ultimate goals. Maybe they have, and maybe they have not. Failing a convincing presentation of solid evidence documenting such intentions, we cannot proceed as if the alleged intentions are fact. And, of course, our best intelligence as this point assesses that even GIVEN bad intentions they’ll need ten years to create a weapon.
We also have no evidence of an intent to attack any other entity, including the USA. RR is right, the President is a relatively powerless figurehead in a nation ruled by powerful clerics. I don’t know how many ME rulers you’ll find who would grant Isreal’s legitimacy and therefore its right to exist. Rants along that line should not be alarming in the absence of recognized signs of impending aggression: massing armies, intense and accelerating arming, changes in border populations, reconnaisance missions, and so on. We see none of this, although Iran IS preparing domestic anti-aircraft defenses, as well they probably should.
The bottom line:
Iran has the right to its current technological explorations. The Iranian president is much less a danger in his fiery rhetoric than, say, GW. And teh UN is as influential as the support of powerful nations enable it to be. It has been and can be very powerful, but since we as a nation have been wiping our asses with UN “pieces of paper” the world has become a much more dangerous place with a less effective international organization to protect the peace.
MTR
Don’t be an idiot, and don’t put words in my mouth. What “foreigners” have is very right to speak (which, of course, is what I said).
And the citizens who will march have every right to vote the latino-haters out of office.
sillyguy
Why do you keep asking other people to do what you have not?
MTR
And they will.
The current GOP immigration plans have a small short-term upside and a huge long-term downside.
Also we should not attack Iran if they don’t attack us. For fucking once.
And the illegal voters can vote too… as GOP proved last year.. and their votes will count once they’re cast. And they can take over.
Daddy Love
To have a proper discussion about a subject each must know what the position is of the other person. For you to ask me me yesterday to post what I believed in and to then renig on doing the same thing only shows how shallow you are. Surely you would not agree that you are a shallow person without opinion?
Daddy – So you’re content to wait until they unleash nuke on us or somebody else.

MTR @ 211:
“So let’s start by taking out all those who are cheering during the free fall. Then we’ll move on. Are you one of the ones cheering?”
So you are saying that you won’t exterminate ALL muslims, then? Do they have to actually take an action to be exterminated? For example, if they vocalize support for the 9/11 attacks then they will be exterminated?
If so, what do you see as the process for deciding this? Do you start a snitch system where kids can turn in their parents? Do the accused get a trial, or are they summarily shot?
You asked if I “cheered” the attacks. The very idea sounds bizarre to me, but let’s draw out this scenario: If I did nothing more than voice support for the attacks to a friend who turned me into the authorities, would you have me killed too?
If yes, then are you ruling obsolete the First Amendment’s protection of freedom of speech? If yes, do you believe that legislators and/or judges can simply wave a magic wand and ignore the constitution, or must a constitutional amendment be passed first?
These questions are not designed to taunt you — I’m geniunely curious to know how this plays out in the real world.
Answer muy fucking question you asshole. Are you one of the ones cheering? Yes or no? Rambling bullshit will be taken as Yes.
Watch this and then answer:
http://www.september-11th.us/media/jumpers.mpg
Of course I am rugrat, because any TRUE atrocity would force you to take stock in your belief system, your morality, your intelligence, your politics.
It’s far easier to call names and vilify others than to face yourself in the cold hard reality of the ‘who am I’ mirror.
How sadly pathetic.
There you go again. Instead of answering my question you slip into abusive behavior.
I did answer your question. You didn’t answer mine: What do you do to American citizens who have taken no tangible action to support terrorist attacks but have vocalized sympathy for the political aims of terrorists. Should they receive First Amendment protection? If not, does the First Amendment need to be changed first, or do you believe in “activist” judges and legislators?
Proud – Yer on a roll today. Two home runs. Wow… good work..
So now we know. Thumb is an enemy of America. In his own words.
Guilty…
Excuse me? That’s a libelous mistatement of my views. What’s interesting is that you have yet to seriously address the questions I have asked.
How committed are you to our constitution? I’ve devoted my professional career to defending the constitution, and will continue to do so — even for assholes like you.
What about you, MTR? Do you believe that the government can kill an American citizen for doing nothing more than voicing sympathy for an unpopular political viewpoint? If yes, can they do so without changing the First Amendment?
Wooohoooo!! You tell em GT.
Green Thumb, when asked to repudiate terrorism couldn’t bring himself to do it. Instead he gave some rambling bullshit about supporting their political objectives.
There you have it. A person who’s a moonbat star of HA who hates America and sides with our enemies, and then has the fucking nerve to ask me questions.
MTR, you become abusive whenever you can’t answer a question. Did you do this to your ex?
Since you are into loyalty oaths, let’s be very clear: I have never felt the slightest tinge of support for terrorist attacks against the U.S. and its allies. I find those tactics morally repugnant, and think that terrorist actions should be prosecuted with the utmost vigor.
Saying that I hate America and side with the enemy is your way of dodging my question. You are dodging it because you can’t aswer my question honestly without presenting a contradictory argument.
Do you fully support the constitution? If not, do you believe the constitution should be amended, or do you believe that “activist” legislators and/or judges can violate the constitution?
Hey MTR, you think the right owns September 11? I am an unabashed liberal, and I am appalled by it. I have family who saw the second plane hit. I have spoken with people who ran through the plaza while other people were dropping to the ground. My nephews play hockey in an arena where the jerseys of cops and firefighters who died in the collapse are hung.
Yes, it was a horrendous crime.
It is also a crime how Bush has politicized it. How he has lied about an Iraqi connection. How he squandered the support of the rest of the world. Remember the headlines overseas- “We are all New Yorkers”? All for his own personal grudge.
Please don’t tell me how Saddam was a bad man. Of course he was. So were many others. Don’t tell me about the human rights abuses. Why Iraq and not Sudan?
Yes, the use of September 11 for partisan purposes is also a crime we shoiuld condemn.
Hey MTR, you think the right owns September 11? I am an unabashed liberal, and I am appalled by it.
Ah not this shit again. Come on K, the left parades republican soldier’s names in their war protests. The left doesn’t care about these soldiers or what their families think. It is blatantly political. Sheeesh you lefties are thin skinned whiners.
My statements stand. September 11 was used and twisted to fight a war of choice, not necessity. Bush and the Republicans did not have the courage to be truthful at to why they did it or to be honest about the costs.
That is a crime.
I’ve said before here that the move into Afganistan was justified and well conducted, up untill Bush lost interest and moved on. That is where Bin Laden was (is?). That is where the terrorist training grounds were. Hell, Saudi Arabia had more to do with September 11 than Iraq.
Hey Proudass-

“To have a proper discussion about a subject each must know what the position is of the other person.”
If we were both ready, willing, and able to have a discussion that would be true. But do you want to have a discussion about immmigration issues? Then you go first.
I didn’t ask for a discussion, I asked WHY, much as I did a day or so ago when i saw the many times that you demanded the positions of others on this issue without offering your own, you ask others to do what you will not? Here’s an original idea: ANSWER THE QUESTION.
“For you to ask me me yesterday to post what I believed in and to then renig on doing the same thing only shows how shallow you are.”
Ooh, argument ad hominem. Surely you are formidable. Here’s a thought: you are not asking the same of me that I asked of you yesterday. I aksed of you to present your own opinion BECAUSE you were badgering others to present theirs. I don’t care what your fucking opinion is, I just think that what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. If you don’t want to avoid the appearance of hypocrisy, be my guest.
“Surely you would not agree that you are a shallow person without opinion? ”
Argument ad hominem noted. But surely you do not expect me to do what you will not?
Unlike you rudejacks, I don’t need to join into a thread when others whom think right are carrying the water against a lunatic moonbat such as yourself!!! I join in when you post your worthless bile.
Now regarding CAFE standards and the Clinton Administration; if you read the article and others you would have determined (well maybe not for you with that pea-brain for a mind) the automakers were not happy Gore was chosen VP.
“Clinton’s goal of boosting the CAFE standard to 40 miles per gallon by the year 2000 might have been a bit ambitious, but it was in the ballpark and would have been sound public policy. Upon taking office, however, the Clinton administration, led by Vice President Al Gore, shifted gears. In September 1993, after six months of negotiations between Washington and Detroit, the president and vice president stood on the South Lawn of the White House with the CEOs of Detroit’s Big Three automakers to announce the formation of the Partnership. The Big Three, hundreds of automotive suppliers, seven federal government agencies, and the national laboratories would join together to improve manufacturing techniques, apply innovative technology to today’s cars, and, most important, achieve fuel efficiencies up to three times greater than today’s automobiles. Under the terms of the agreement, automakers would produce 80-mile-per-gallon concept cars in 2000, preproduction prototypes in 2004, and actual production models soon thereafter. The proposal to raise the CAFE standard was never explicitly disavowed, but after the Partnership’s creation, it was quietly abandoned.” – emphasis mine!
Then rudejacks if you did your DD, you should have seen what Carl Levin (D) of Michigan proposed as a counter against John Frenchy Kerry. http://www.uaw.org/dclink/dclink.cfm?dcid=16 Just think about it rudejacks, your almost president (HA HA HA HA HA) tried to put union workers out of a job by bad legislation and then you donks would have blamed the president for the problem! Even you donks couldn’t get your CAFE issues straight!
Once again history proves the likes of hairy poontang and rudejacks wrong. Since it doesn’t fit their mantra, they attack the messenger whom finds these pearls of wisdom from the Internet!
MTR @ 221
There you go again. You state what you want me to have said, then shake your head in disgust at how terrible what you said I said is. You seem a little reality challenged, and certainly straw man arguments are a sign of weakness.
But I will respond to the reverse of that you imputed to me, assuming for the moment that the reason you pooh-poohed this fictional non-opinion of mine is because you think the opposite.
“So you’re content to wait until they unleash nuke on us or somebody else…That’s why you and your ilk are unfit to lead.”
Leaving aside for a moment the MONUMENTAL unfitness to lead of the man who nominated “indecisive, weak, and slow” Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court and Mike Brown to head FEMA, it seems that you would like to “unleash a nuke” on Iran without any agressive act on their part beyond a fiery speech and the peaceful, legal use of uranium. That’s why you and your ilk are too extreme and dangerous to leave in power.
BTW, sillyguy
It’s “renege.”
Puddybud
I don’t get it. So Clinton achieves better results by engaging industry on a voluntary basis than by federal reglation and you’re against it?
I think the reason so many of you hated the guy was not just that he was smarter, better looking and ten times the wily political tactician than your best (he spanked Gingrich but good), but really that he even did conservatism better than your guys.
Daddy_Love: The point is the Clinton Adminsitration quietly dropped the CAFE standards, in 1993 when the donk controlled the House of Representatives and the Presidency. Hairy Poontang accused Bush of dropping the standards. I proved him wrong, AGAIN. Do you follow threads? Do you read the articles? Or, do you just make up points to look good on ASSes?
re 253: I’ve never said a word about CAFE standards, except maybe to complain about the sunny-side-ups being too runny.
Harry check Thursday and Friday threads. You complained about my CAFE URL!

So the Clinton administration , having seen the 1992 effort go down in flames, figured in 1993 that they’d try some other method. They proposed rule changes within the executive brqnch (you know, like how Bush gets around his own party’s Congress now), but Congress in 1994 cut off the funding. The GOP wsas then in charge and any raised standards were then just a pipe dream.
The Demcrats in Congress put their butts on the line in 1993 and passed the tax bill that would ultimately put our budget into surplus and start paying down the national debt. I don’t think you can credibly call them gutless.
