What a time. Glad you’re around.

  • It’s good to have an AG’s office that looks out for consumers.
  • If you’re going to be a micromanager, you are going to slow things down.
  • $10 Million because the city council said it’s bad to hang out with a terrorist?
  • Car free Pike Place is great. And also good for business.

Totally doesn’t get what happens when states move left:

    Politics and Government
Providing health care to immigrants who are children or pregnant is costing Colorado 611% more than expected
The state predicts that the Covering All Coloradans program will cost Colorado $104.5 million in the fiscal year that began July 1. Nonpartisan fiscal analysts estimated the cost would be $14.7 million.

Nonpartisan fiscal analysts at the Capitol estimated in 2022 that about 3,700 immigrants who are children or are pregnant would enroll in Cover All Coloradans this fiscal year. The actual number is nearly 28,000, leading to ballooning costs.

“The fiscal note missed pretty badly,” Eric Kurtz, a chief legislative budget and policy analyst, told the Joint Budget Committee last week.

already gerrymandered the shit out of every useful state.

    Now do Florida..

Several of those districts have high concentrations of Latino voters, who have sharply turned away from Trump amid an affordability crisis and aggressive interior enforcement of immigration laws against longtime residents. The 22nd District is 33 percent Hispanic and the 25th District is nearly 29 percent Hispanic, according to Dave’s Redistricting. The 26th, 27th, and 28th Districts are all a whopping 73 percent Hispanic. The 14th District in the Tampa area is around 28 percent Hispanic.

The result, then, could be a dummymander—an attempt to gain seats that goes so awry that it actually loses them. If Democrats sweep all potentially contested races and win nine House seats, that would reflect a pickup of one relative to the current 20-8 map.

Here’s some more horse race polls so we can all enjoy watching the lying troll’s head explode.

    First the polls.

Conservatives4America is a Republican House PAC. Yesterday they released these 9 polls they fielded in March, presumably to steer around FEC rules against campaign coordination. With all the money they and other GOP PACs have this year there are many dozens more such polls they are holding back, at least for now. I mentioned yesterday when the lying troll was sobbing uncontrollably about the bad polls in Texas, that many GOP consultants are pushing to spend to defend there, reasoning that they can message their way out of the jamb they are in. C4A is bascially run by Rep. August Pfluger (of Pflugerville fame – for more please see The Austin Lounge Lizards) on behalf of the Republican Study Committee. So it’s all about Texas.

So this is also C4A’s way of signaling to other PACs that these are 9 districts that C4A and the Republican Study Committee will not be investing much in this year. So coordination among PACs. But also an indication of early concern. Why? Because these 9 MAGA incumbent districts are not at all in good shape.

How so? First, the MAGA Insane Failing Cult Leader is underwater in all of them. Dems are winning the generic ballot in some of these MAGA incumbent districts. And MAGA Republicans are leading by only one or two points in a couple of them. And in AZ incumbent MAGA cult chud Juan Ciscomani is trailing his Dem challenger, JoAnna Mendoza in the head-to-head horse race.

Of course it’s still very early. How early? Basically none of the Dems have even begun to advertise. And neither have any of the outside, dark money PACs. Thus the reason for the release of the early polls. To recruit other PACs into these struggling MAGA districts and perhaps to goad the Dems into spending too early. But what it also tells me is that this very prominent House GOP PAC, by abandoning these districts early, is pretty fucking freaked out about Texas.

    Yay!

And do TexASS for that matter…

That’s one of the big reasons C4A is shifting to Texas, away from other vulnerable races. Because their early polling is indicating a big loss of MAGA vote share among Latinos in Texas. The worst of these 9 districts in CO and AZ are showing the same shift.

I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.

Here is the GOVERNMENT’S MEMORANDUM SUPPORT OF PRETRIAL DETENTION, stamped filed this morning:

… ran in the direction of the stairs leading to the ballroom where the President and
members of his family and Cabinet were located. As the defendant did so, he held a shotgun in
both hands in a raised position parallel to the ground. A USSS officer observed the defendant
    fire the shotgun
in the direction of the stairs leading down to the ballroom. The USSS officer and
others at the checkpoint heard the gunshot.
The USSS officer drew his service weapon and fired
    five times at the defendant.
    …
At the time of his arrest, the defendant was in possession of a Mossberg 12-gauge pumpaction shotgun with one spent cartridge in the barrel and eight unfired cartridges in the magazine
tube. An additional six unfired cartridges were attached with Velcro to the shotgun in a
detachable ammunition carrier, and the defendant possessed another ten unfired cartridges in a
    small leather bag.

    • He was observed firing the shotgun
    • A spent cartridge was found in the weapon

Again, I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.

Investigators believe that the man charged with the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump shot a Secret Service officer who was wearing a ballistic vest, according to three law enforcement officials familiar with the case.

Investigators have determined that the Secret Service Uniformed Division officer was not struck by friendly fire from another member of law enforcement, the sources told NBC News on Wednesday.

The lawsuit was dismissed by a judge in January of this year.

The SoS has stipulated to an agreement granting Judicial Watch access to voter data they already had access to. The stipulated agreement also formalized two directives by the SoS conforming with state law according to state time mandated timelines. Under the law the SoS will cancel any voter registrations deemed inactive before July 20, 2017 when the language on the voter notifications was changed by Oregon law. Another 640,000 registrations have been marked inactive but have not yet met state standards for removal.

Whatever some media outlet reports about whatever lies the lying troll spews the facts don’t change. @57 Judicial Watch has forced Oregon to remove up to 800,000 inactive names from its registered voter list. ftfy

    Sort of and maybe. Details:

Oregon has agreed to provide conservative foundation Judicial Watch with data on the state’s voter rolls as part of terms to dismiss a 2024 lawsuit.

    https://www.statesmanjournal.com/story/news/politics/elections/2026/04/29/oregon-voter-roll-lawsuit-resolved-judicial-watch/89862139007/

Oregon announced a plan to resume routine voter‑roll maintenance that targets roughly 800,000 inactive registration records, but officials and courts say this is not a one‑day mass purge of active, eligible voters; the state will immediately cancel about 160,000 records that already meet legal standards and notify the rest before further action. Political actors and partisan outlets have framed the move variously as a necessary cleanup or a politically driven “purge,” so distinguishing law, process and spin is essential.

    1. What the state actually agreed to do

Oregon’s Secretary of State announced directives to “restart” routine cancellation of outdated, inactive voter registration records identified as roughly 800,000 entries, and his office says those inactive records are separate from the roughly 3 million active registrants who receive ballots. The immediate, legally unambiguous step is to cancel about 160,000 inactive registrations that already meet federal and state criteria for removal; the remaining roughly 640,000 inactive records will be processed through notification steps before any cancellation occurs.

    2. Why the number is 800,000, not “800,000 active voters”

State materials and fact‑checks emphasize that the 800,000 figure refers to inactive records—people who at one point were registered but whose mail was returned undelivered or who failed to respond to notices—and are not part of the active voter count that receives ballots. Multiple outlets and the Secretary of State’s office stress that inactive status means no ballot is issued, so removing those records does not by itself disenfranchise people who are currently voting from correct addresses.

    https://factually.co/fact-checks/politics/oregon-remove-800000-voters-from-rolls-51fc03

We live in a mobile society in which people frequently move. Most don’t bother to cancel their old voter registrations. Voter roll turnover is routine. None of these 800,000 registrants voted in recent elections. No voting fraud occurred. And Judicial Watch didn’t “force” Oregon to do anything it wouldn’t have done anyway; its lawsuit, at most, only sped up the process.

Not much of a “gotcha” there.

For a preview of the sublime skills of the pound for pound champion Inoue, see the following bout between Inoue and Ramon Cardenas:

Tokyo Dome is ok but nowhere else does a showdown fight like Vegas. That fight is a joy to watch.

HA Commenting Policy

It may be hard to believe from the vile nature of the threads, but yes, we have a commenting policy. Comments containing libel, copyright violations, spam, blatant sock puppetry, and deliberate off-topic trolling are all strictly prohibited, and may be deleted on an entirely arbitrary, sporadic, and selective basis. And repeat offenders may be banned! This is my blog. Life isn’t fair.
