What a time. Glad you’re around.
- It’s good to have an AG’s office that looks out for consumers.
- If you’re going to be a micromanager, you are going to slow things down.
- $10 Million because the city council said it’s bad to hang out with a terrorist?
- Car free Pike Place is great. And also good for business.

How may Dems still think fucking with redistricting was a good idea?
I held back on the Fidelity Investments news because I wanted to put it in the Wednesday thread. Glad I did, because it gave Vanguard time to match Fidelity’s move:
SPLC lost its way decades ago. SPLC needs all of the Civil Rights Act to remain relevant, and SCOTUS has made it clear even this morning that we’re not ’60s racist southern Democrats anymore. Just racist SPLC thugs.
@2
Fidelity and Vanguard will get sued withing days and all will be normal.
Virtue signaling.
Elon Musk wishes you a pleasant Wednesday.

Fidelity and Vanguard will get sued withing days…

Sure, they’ll be sued. Pretty sure they can afford to proceed to discovery.
TOS.
@2
Also the settlement with the Justice department gets bigger as they:
Filed with knowingly false information.
Filed with intent to damage reputation
Caused financial hardship
The three prongs are met when the initial hearing tosses the charges with prejudice.

Gonna take a lot more gerrymandering to make this “Give us another two years” thing work.
@ 5
Regular unleaded up another $.06 overnight.
There’s a Native American-owned station on Fidalgo Island a couple of miles north of Deception Pass. Yesterday I paid $5.959/gallon for diesel.
The extra $25 or so this cost me compared with the last time I filled up is easily dismissed when considering the gains in my holdings of CVX, HAL, SHEL, SU, USO, and my sold negative XOM puts.
War is profitable even if you don’t own defense stocks.
@ 8
Gonna take a lot more gerrymandering to make this “Give us another two years” thing work.
Gonna take a lot more gerrymandering to undo the 2030 Census, Democrats. Your problem is you’ve already gerrymandered the shit out of every useful state. Now all you can do is watch the GOP catch up, while more and more higher-earning and more productive taxpayers move from blue states to red states.
Vance’s 2028 victory will be a close one but his re-election will be a landslide.
I can wait.
The ever changing story.
So despite days of saying the security was fine, the secret service shot the suspect and then took him into custody and all the other stuff…
Secret service wasn’t involved until after the perimeter was breached, the suspect was shot at four times by hotel security and all four missed…
And the lying troll, as a deluded MAGA cult chud, thinks disco is a good thing for either firm or for the DOJ.
When civil disco produces felony counts we call that a twofer.

Totally doesn’t get why Colorado, once red is now reliably blue.
Totally doesn’t get what happens when states move left:
Politics and Government
Providing health care to immigrants who are children or pregnant is costing Colorado 611% more than expected
The state predicts that the Covering All Coloradans program will cost Colorado $104.5 million in the fiscal year that began July 1. Nonpartisan fiscal analysts estimated the cost would be $14.7 million.
Joe Biden’s midnight flights might have dumped them in Texas but they didn’t stay there.
Enjoy the “benefits” of the Biden open borders policies, Coloradans. Maybe try some lube with them.
already gerrymandered the shit out of every useful state.
Now do Florida..
Several of those districts have high concentrations of Latino voters, who have sharply turned away from Trump amid an affordability crisis and aggressive interior enforcement of immigration laws against longtime residents. The 22nd District is 33 percent Hispanic and the 25th District is nearly 29 percent Hispanic, according to Dave’s Redistricting. The 26th, 27th, and 28th Districts are all a whopping 73 percent Hispanic. The 14th District in the Tampa area is around 28 percent Hispanic.
The result, then, could be a dummymander—an attempt to gain seats that goes so awry that it actually loses them. If Democrats sweep all potentially contested races and win nine House seats, that would reflect a pickup of one relative to the current 20-8 map.
https://prospect.org/2026/04/29/could-new-florida-congressional-map-be-dummymander/
And do TexASS for that matter…
@ 17
Allegations are not facts.
Yo, Jacoby. Allegations resulting in investigation by the government are all that are needed for the gift funds to cease funding. Once those investigations advance to indictments, facts are assumed until disproven by a jury’s evaluation.
You didn’t bitch when Minnesota finally pulled the support of all of those fraudulent school lunch programs even though nothing had yet been proven, I note.
I don’t think the attorneys at Fidelity and Vanguard are losing any sleep over their moves.
Here’s some more horse race polls so we can all enjoy watching the lying troll’s head explode.
First the polls.
Conservatives4America is a Republican House PAC. Yesterday they released these 9 polls they fielded in March, presumably to steer around FEC rules against campaign coordination. With all the money they and other GOP PACs have this year there are many dozens more such polls they are holding back, at least for now. I mentioned yesterday when the lying troll was sobbing uncontrollably about the bad polls in Texas, that many GOP consultants are pushing to spend to defend there, reasoning that they can message their way out of the jamb they are in. C4A is bascially run by Rep. August Pfluger (of Pflugerville fame – for more please see The Austin Lounge Lizards) on behalf of the Republican Study Committee. So it’s all about Texas.
So this is also C4A’s way of signaling to other PACs that these are 9 districts that C4A and the Republican Study Committee will not be investing much in this year. So coordination among PACs. But also an indication of early concern. Why? Because these 9 MAGA incumbent districts are not at all in good shape.
How so? First, the MAGA Insane Failing Cult Leader is underwater in all of them. Dems are winning the generic ballot in some of these MAGA incumbent districts. And MAGA Republicans are leading by only one or two points in a couple of them. And in AZ incumbent MAGA cult chud Juan Ciscomani is trailing his Dem challenger, JoAnna Mendoza in the head-to-head horse race.
Of course it’s still very early. How early? Basically none of the Dems have even begun to advertise. And neither have any of the outside, dark money PACs. Thus the reason for the release of the early polls. To recruit other PACs into these struggling MAGA districts and perhaps to goad the Dems into spending too early. But what it also tells me is that this very prominent House GOP PAC, by abandoning these districts early, is pretty fucking freaked out about Texas.
Yay!
That’s one of the big reasons C4A is shifting to Texas, away from other vulnerable races. Because their early polling is indicating a big loss of MAGA vote share among Latinos in Texas. The worst of these 9 districts in CO and AZ are showing the same shift.
Which, when dismissed with prejudice at pretrial motion doesn’t change that you seem to be arguing AGAINST the bedrock of US law.
Good post

Then why, only 21 minutes ago, did NBC News update its story to read:

The only thing I am reading is that government officials are no longer claiming that the USSS agent was struck by a bullet.

According to Elijah NBC News is lying:
Delauro filed a motion to discharge from committee petition. That’s not the same as introducing a bill. The House-passed version is identical to the Senate-passed version because it had to be.
Other than that you were spot-on in your criticism, Elijah.
Today’s DHS funding bill passed the House on a voice vote. Brave Republicans did not want to be seen voting against it, and Brave Democrats did not want to be seen voting for it.
The Kraken’s lady coach was shown the door.
57, 66,
No, according to Elijah the lying troll is lying. Always.
The lawsuit was dismissed by a judge in January of this year.
The SoS has stipulated to an agreement granting Judicial Watch access to voter data they already had access to. The stipulated agreement also formalized two directives by the SoS conforming with state law according to state time mandated timelines. Under the law the SoS will cancel any voter registrations deemed inactive before July 20, 2017 when the language on the voter notifications was changed by Oregon law. Another 640,000 registrations have been marked inactive but have not yet met state standards for removal.
Whatever some media outlet reports about whatever lies the lying troll spews the facts don’t change. Oregon is proceeding to manage its state voter rolls exactly as it did before the Arkansas lawsuit mill cranked up on this bullshit, and before the Arkansas lawsuit mill folded up its tent and ran away. JW “won” what it already had. Nothing else changed.
Including that the lying troll always lies.
Judicial Watch has forced Oregon to remove 800,000 names from its registered voter list.
Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Jane Balough’s dog could not be reached for comment.
Has precisely the same effect.
MAGA Mike Jesus Johnson was ordered to bottle up the Senate bill in the rules committee, and hold out by the Insane Failing Cult Leader. So DeLauro, A DEMOCRAT introduced a discharge petition forcing a vote. That vote was unanimous by Democrats to discharge the bill. So for all intents and purposes the Senate bill was blocked by the MAGA cult chud GOP and supported by the DEMOCRATS.

·
What the lying troll’s post about JW in Oregon demonstrates most ably is how victimized the lying troll and the rest of the MAGA cult chud universe is by the routine of media lies they are fed inside their cult bubble.
JW is a fundraising machine. They spend only a small fraction of what they raise on actual legal work. The vast, bloated majority of their funding (which has btw collapsed since the heyday) is spent on bloated salaries, media campaigns, and direct employee expenses for travel, events, and always more fundraising. It’s a political Ponzi scheme, that must lie to keep feeding the machine. And the stupid lying troll fell for it.
@ 71
You know the discharge motion was in mid-March. You know that, don’t you?
The bill was subsequently modified in the Senate and passed the Senate in late April and then was introduced in the House. Not by Delauro.
So what you are claiming is that by throwing out a bill in March, after which the bill was altered and changed in a different congressional body, somehow Delauro is credited with introducing the changed bill into the House a month later?
Has precisely the same effect.
Only in the sense that by permitting the US to use its bases for defensive purposes only Starmer can claim full credit next month for defeating Iran.
“JW is a fundraising machine.”
Just like SPLC.

So what the lying troll is claiming, obviously, OBVIOUSLY is that a bill that Republicans fought to keep off the floor since March, and that Democrats fought to put to a floor vote the whole time, and that just passed on the House floor, is some kind of big win for Repubicans.
And so in order to support that false claim, he lies about it.
And he knows that. It’s just cope.
Democrats just successfully stripped funding for CBP and ICE out of the budget. And Republicans will now spend the rest of the spring and summer struggling to restore it through reconciliation. And that’s something the Insane Failing Cult Leader insisted must never happen. But as always, TACO.

@57 Judicial Watch has forced Oregon to remove up to 800,000 inactive names from its registered voter list. ftfy
Sort of and maybe. Details:
https://www.statesmanjournal.com/story/news/politics/elections/2026/04/29/oregon-voter-roll-lawsuit-resolved-judicial-watch/89862139007/
https://factually.co/fact-checks/politics/oregon-remove-800000-voters-from-rolls-51fc03
We live in a mobile society in which people frequently move. Most don’t bother to cancel their old voter registrations. Voter roll turnover is routine. None of these 800,000 registrants voted in recent elections. No voting fraud occurred. And Judicial Watch didn’t “force” Oregon to do anything it wouldn’t have done anyway; its lawsuit, at most, only sped up the process.
Not much of a “gotcha” there.
@61 The House has now passed the Senate-passed bill to restore funding to DHS.
Which is a defeat for MAGA Mike and House Republicans. The Senate Democrats voted for the bill.

By the way, tech companies make up 40% of the S&P 500, and the “Magnificent 7” stocks are 34%, so the S&P 500 really doesn’t tell you a whole lot about the economy or general stock market.
@84 Funny how Trump knows more mob lingo than most of us. And he’s from New York, too. He probably spent a lot of time around wiseguys.

@89 Now that the conservative justices have shitcanned the VRA and greenlighted racial gerrymandering, term limits and/or court packing become more likely.
SCOTUS is “legitimate” in the sense that it’s a constitutionally created institution. The conservative majority is “legitimate” in the sense they were duly, if underhandedly, appointed and confirmed.
Term-limiting and/or packing the Court is “legitimate” in the sense Congress has the constitutional power to do it.
Which means it’s all just hardball politics. And if Republicans wish to play that game, Democrats can too.
@94 Actually, it sounds more like a platform plank to me. If Trump deports millions of immigrant workers, which Sununu’s party favors, they’ll have to get replacement workers somewhere.
Putting 80-year-olds back to work on farms, in chicken processing plants, working as roofers, etc., sounds like a plan to me.
I’m not saying it’s a good plan, only that it’s his plan, unless he wants to admit he doesn’t know the difference between Medicaid and Medicare.
But I think he does know. After all, Republicans just gutted Medicaid, so why would he need a work requirement for a program his party is abolishing?
So to sum up, MAGA Mike Jesus Johnson is offered bipartisan support if no additional ICE funding. MMJJ says no. Passes MORE ICE money. Senate strips ICE funding sends it back to MMJJ. MMJJ says no assuming public opinion will blame airport problems on Democrats and refuses to schedule a vote and in a fit of idiocy sends the House home for vacation. Weeks later MMJJ puts the Senate package House Democrats offered months ago to a vote and it passes.
Only a spectacularly stupid person, a Dumbfuck if you will, would call that a Republican win.
