Good morning. I went to my first Mariners game of the year over the weekend. Good times.

I don’t know if the staff are wit the M’s or the stadium, but I do want to give them a shout out. I was there with someone who sometimes needs a wheelchair, and they were very accommodating. Sorry to vaguebook here but I do want to say they checked in without being obtrusive and generally very helpful.

Oh why oh why did widbee kreepfuck break its rule?

In 2021 we broke our rule about not renting to youngsters and rented to an early 20s couple expecting a baby. 15 months later the couple broke up, she moved out, and he moved his buddies and his 17 year-old sister (and her 18 month-old baby) in. The place isn’t trashed, yet, but the lease names specific people who are allowed to reside there and three of the four now there aren’t listed. They’ve been late on rent three of the last four months. I’ve told them to leave.

But then there was the kiss after the ass fucking:

I have no sympathy for rent increases to tenants when the tenants cause problems for landlords. Don’t want to get evicted and see your rent at the next place $200 higher? Don’t put a wrecked car up on blocks in the carport when it’s easily visible from the street.

    Stupidity should be painful.

The myth of the Strait of Hormuz closure.

80% (16.25M bpd) of the 20M barrels per day supply of the Strait of Hormuz has already been replaced or been rerouted.

    🇸🇦 7M: Saudi Reroute
    📈 4.25M: Pre-War Surplus
    🇨🇳 2M: China Safe-Passage
    🇦🇪 1.5M: UAE ADCOP reroute
    🇮🇷 1M: Iran Jask Bypass
    🇮🇳 400k: India Safe-Passage

Deficit? Only 3.8M bpd and even just 2 more tankers per day would reduce the deficit to 0.

With 1.3B and 500 millions barrels in combined reserves for China & India respectively, they have a 3-4 month reserves before they run into a deficit.

This is why stocks are back at nearly ATH again. Opening the Strait of Hormuz has now merely turned into an afterthought.

The Saudi pipeline at max capacity can deliver 8 million barrels of oil per day. Prior to Pee-wee Donnie’s big adventure 20m barrels were passing through the Strait.

Where are the other 12 million coming from and also until it was hit DURING peewee Donnie‘s big adventure, the pipeline was also running at capacity. It was off-line briefly.

So what’s your Random Twatter Is bragging about is 28 million barrels of oil per day pre PWDBA has been replaced with a floodgate of 8 million barrels of oil per day.

@9 You left out demand destruction from $100/bbl oil.

But let’s take a closer look at your itemized list. “Pre-War Surplus” is vague, but let’s assume it refers to global production in excess of demand. Iran’s pre-war oil production was roughly 4.6M bpd, so bombing or blockading Iran’s production erases that surplus.

China and India safe passage and Iran’s Jask terminal are all shut down by Trump’s blockade, unless that blockade isn’t real.

The UAE pipeline depends on access from the Red Sea through the 16-mile-wide Bab-el-Manded strait, which is vulnerable to Houthi attacks from Yemen. Red Sea terminals also are within range of Iranian missiles.

Then there’s the matter of damage to production, storage, processing, and loading facilities.

The reality is that at least half of the Persian Gulf’s contribution to global oil supply is offline because of the war. Large amounts of LPG and fertilizer supply also are offline.

@24 In other words, the S&P 500 has gone nowhere since Trump launched his war. Putting it another way, the S&P 500 is up 0.6% since December 31, thanks to today’s 1.02% gain. It was underwater as of Friday. So were the DJIA and Nasdaq indexes.

But let’s dig a little deeper. The S&P 500 has made it back to even only because investors think the war is over. If the war is indeed over, let’s check the boxes of what it achieved.

    Regime change – nope.
Eliminating Iran’s nuclear stockpile – no.
Derailing Iran’s nuclear weapons program – more likely accelerated it.
    Hormuz strait – still closed.

It’s very unlikely investors are celebrating any of this. So what are they celebrating? That this insanity isn’t going any further; that it won’t get any worse than it is now.

How realistic is that? Well, today’s Yahoo Finance headline reads:

3 charts reveal how delusional Wall Street is being about the Middle East conflict

    The story says,

… what’s on display right now from the Street borders on absurdity. And it puts investors at risk for a harsh reality check …

Meanwhile, consumer sentiment is at the lowest level since the survey began in 1952; the implications for the economy and corporate earnings are obvious.

Anne Applebaum on the joke that was Viktor Orban:

In the past few weeks, the investigative journalist Szabolcs Panyi, along with his colleagues at the website Direkt26, one of the few independent outlets in the country, patiently debunked Orbán’s anti-Ukrainian propaganda, producing leaked transcripts and audio that revealed Orbán and his foreign minister colluding with Putin and the Russian foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov. These tapes exposed what Panyi described to me as the “big lie that Orbán was a sovereigntist prime minister.” Indeed: Orbán boasted and talked a big game about Hungarian traditions and Hungarian nationalism, but when he spoke on the phone with the Russian leader, he described himself as a mouse and Putin as a lion. For years Orbán has claimed to be fighting shadowy foreign forces—George Soros, the European Union, migrants—but in fact he was himself dependent on foreigners all along.

    Well, there’s this from CNBC:

Overall, OPEC’s production plunged 27% month over month from 28.7 million bpd to 20.8 million bpd.

The Gulf Arab states have cut production because they are unable to export through the Strait of Hormuz due to the war.

Eight million barrels is four full tankers. The US military is now in the Strait. This disruption is temporary:

Iran’s production, meanwhile, dropped around 5% from 3.24 million bpd to 3.06 million bpd month over month, according to OPEC. The Islamic Republic has continued to export through the strait during the war.

But Iran is now facing a blockade after peace talks with the U.S. failed to produce an agreement over the weekend. President Donald Trump has ordered the U.S. Navy to block all maritime traffic in and out of Iran’s ports starting at 10 a.m. ET on Monday.

US oil production ramped up during 2025 and ramped up even more in the past few weeks. Add to that the newly invigorated oil production from Venezuela after US military action there.

Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz thinking it was holding the West hostage. But in reality, 90 percent of the oil that flows through that strait goes east, and almost half of that goes to China in heavily subsidized product.

Iran was not holding a gun to America’s head. Iran was holding a gun to China’s gas tank and screaming “LOOK HOW POWERFUL I AM YA FILTHY INFIDEL!!” at Washington.

    Because fuck logic I guess

So what happened next was predictable to everyone except, apparently, the IRGC.

Saudi Arabia said “Fine, I’ll do this myself” and cranked its pipeline to the Red Sea to nearly seven million barrels a day. The UAE expanded its pipeline to the Gulf of Oman. Nature is healing.

American crude exports hit a record 4.9 million barrels a day in April alone. Right now, 121 empty tankers turned around and sailed to the United States to load up on American oil because… it turns out there’s an obscene amount of American oil.

Iran’s one big card, the only economic leverage it had left, just forced every customer on earth to build a permanent detour around Iran.

2025 was supposed to the Canadian Conservatives year, Trudeau was on track to take his party to it’s worst showing, and the Conservatives looking at the polls made sure to remind voters of the incumbent Liberal leader as soon as they could trigger a snap election. Then Pollievre was reminded, never focus too much on an incumbent PM in a parliamentary system when their is still Constitutional options for said incumbent. Resign and have a new leader take over. Usually at the Federal Level in Canada doesn’t work. This time it sort of did, Carney taking the Liberals to more or less what they had in 2021. Apparently the Conservatives thought, give their leader another chance, at the time of the leadership review, only 1 MP had crossed the floor, since then, it’s been 5 Cons and 1 NDP, with three special elections tonight in seats won by Liberal., Terrebone in Quebec, won by just one vote last year (which the courts invalidated, triggering the by election), was the one that could flip, but only to the Bloc, the Conservative candidate is only at 3% right now. Looks like the Cons are going to need a new leader or a new strategy, Liberals already got the one they needed to hit the 172 seat majority threshold, but since one of those seats is the Speaker, they need an extra one.

    https://cultmtl.com/2026/04/breaking-the-liberals-have-won-a-majority-government/

Terrebone is going to be a little slower to call, because of the protest by opponents of First Past the Post elections, the Longest Ballot Committee. A they are taking advantage of the process for independent candidate nominations, only need 100 signatures. Elections Canada, starting with the By-Election called because a Conservative in a very safe riding resigned so their leader can get back in(lost his own seat, and LBC was involved in both), pulled out their solution to that, the Adapted Ballot, all candidates votes will be cast by write-in.

At least four Iran-linked tankers are going about their business in the Strait of Hormuz and at Iranian ports, defying a U.S. blockade of the country.

Tracking data reviewed by the BBC shows a bulk carrier named “Christianna” visited the Iranian port city of Bandar Imam Khomeini, then crossed the strait Monday. “Elpis” passed through the strait Monday night after calling on the Iranian port of Bushehr.

Two other ships that are under U.S. sanctions have also transited the strait in defiance of the blockade, per the BBC. One, “Rich Starry,” left the United Arab Emirates and sailed east Monday night. The other, “Murlikishan,” headed west through the strait after leaving a port in Lanshan, China.

“Make no mistake about it. The language of religion has been placed at the service of a partisan agenda. God is being invoked to undermine safeguards for public health and the environment, to demonize political opponents, to censor textbooks, to ostracize “the other,” to end public funding for the arts, to cut taxes on the rich, and to misinform and mislead voters.

The fact is, Jesus has been hijacked. The very Jesus who stood in his hometown and proclaimed, “The Lord has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor.” The very Jesus who told 5,000 hungry people that all people-not just those in the box seats-would be fed. The very Jesus who challenged the religious orthodoxy of the day by feeding the hungry on the Sabbath, who offered kindness to the prostitute and hospitality to the outcast, who raised the status of women, and who

treated even the despised tax collector as a citizen of the Kingdom.

The indignant Jesus who drove the money-changers from the temple has been hijacked and turned from a friend of the dispossessed into a guardian of privilege, a militarist, hedonist, and lobbyists, sent prowling the halls of Congress like a Gucci-shod lobbyist, seeking tax breaks and loopholes for the powerful, costly new weapon systems, and punitive public policies against people without power or status.”

From the 1950s until today racist white supremacy groups that celebrated Confederate treason during the Civil War received special tax exemptions from the state of Virginia.

Democrats ended that ridiculous bullshit today.
