Did you watch the debate? It seemed like Governor Inslee was given a more prominent role than when he was on stage. At least people praising him and his ideas for a bit. Nice to see before it fades.

It is the anniversary of 9/11. 18 years ago an unprepared President who hadn’t done the basic work of protecting America ran scared from place to place as thousands of people died in a city he hated. Then everyone pretended that he was brilliant.

I hope you enjoyed the storm. It was rather fun to watch, but it did delay the Reign FC game I was at for longer than we were able to wait. It seems like a good lightning storm is becoming more common in the Puget Sound area than it was when I was growing up. Maybe that’s perception, but I think of those sorts of storms as an East Coast phenomenon.

Glad Howard Schultz is officially no longer running for President. I mean try not to help Donald Trump win reelection. A weird vanity campaign was never going to help.

I, for one, look forward to going to Starbucks occasionally, again. I was never going regularly, but if I’m thirsty, iit’s nice to have another option, who isn’t actively making a Trump second term more likely.

What the hell is happening in the UK? Several years of uncertainty post Brexit and now who knows? Snap election? Bills limiting how to leave? Two unpopular weirdos vying to be PM? I generally prefer the Parliamentary system to the US (and we’re having our own problems at the moment too) but geez.

So, wolves. Maybe don’t get so upset about reintroduction of wolves that you threaten state workers trying to get input. Maybe don’t be such a dung brained jerk that you cause meetings to be canceled.

In conclusion: What the fuck? What the actual fuck?

Bob Ferguson is filing another lawsuit against another one of the Trump administration’s horrible policies. As the 9th Circuit gets more and more conservative, the side of the angels is going to be less likely to prevail. Still, the conditions of care for children in detention are abhorrent. I can’t believe we could make them worse.

Open Thread Monday

Elizabeth Warren was in town yesterday. It was a packed and quite the barn burner. I especially liked the section where she talked about how the government works fine for the people at the top, but that it could work for the rest of us. Very different from the GOP message that government is inherently a mess. Also, I was one of the last people to take a picture with her, and it was several hours after she spoke.

We shouldn’t celebrate Koch dying

And the Lord knows I’m really trying

But the world is much worse

For him wasting his purse

On things like his climate denying.
