    Gee, why so much money for a plane?

    Its a major setback for Boeing, which had been tapped during Trump’s first term to deliver a new pair of state-of-the-art planes to replace the old ones that have been in service since George H.W. Bush administration.

    Boeing has fallen so behind on the $3.9 billion project that it now fears it won’t be able to finish building the planes before Trump leaves office. They were supposed to be finished last year, but a series of supplier and engineering snags has caused the project to take years and go billions over budget.

    Mayor Baraka was outside the gates of the facility when he was arrested.
    The facility, identified as the Delaney Hall Immigration Detention facility is leased and operated by the private contractor GEO Group. The contract is valued at over $1 billion dollars to operate 1,000 beds. In case you are as bad at math as MAGA turds like the Nazi Fucktard, that’s $1 million per bed. The private, for-profit facility, which currrently exists in violation of a state law banning such for-profit torture facilities, also lacks local planning authorization for the ongoing change in land use. Since last year the company, GEO Group, through its own contractors has been engaged unlawfully in large scale rennovations of the buidings and associated grounds without permits and has consistently denied local building and land use authorities any access to inspect the work. As recently as last month the city of Newark (the largest city in New Jersey) was in court seeking a court order to obatin access to the facility. A stop-work order has been in effect at the facility since earlier this year. But GEO Group has continued to defy the courts. On Monday of this week Newark city officials notified GEO Group that they would be visiting the facility this week to inspect fire safety equipment and elevators in accordance with state law. GEO Group denied them access and DHS officials present threatened the city and state safety inspectors with tresspassing and arrest. At the time of that visit the inspectors observed and recorded the presence of extensive electrical and mechanical improvements taking place despite the absence of any permits for such work.

    Mayor Baraka was in the company of his own staff, directors from Newark departments of engineering and planning, the Newark Fire Department, as well as an unkown number of U.S. Congress members representing local districts. The members of Congress were granted limited access inside the gates of the facility to meet with DHS officials in an accessory building. Mayor Baraka was left outside with city staff. When the meeting between DHS, representatives of GEO Group, and the House members ended they returned to join city staff at the gates. It was at that time that masked individuals dressed in military style fatigues who were later identified as Homeland Security Investigations agents, fought their way physically through the group of officials and violently arrested the Mayor of Newark despite his cooperation and compliance with their orders. Members of the House delegation present said they were informed in the meeting that the Mayor would be arrested and that it was this information that led to the ending of the meeting. When they asked why the Mayor was being singled out for arrest and on what criminal charges, the DHS officials present informed them that it was ordered from “higher up”.

    Every state and local official in the United States is now on notice and should understand that they have to take additional steps to secure their own safety from these kinds of extrajudicial, unlwful fascist kidnappings.

    They appear to be seeking trespassing charges under Title 18 U.S.C. 1752.
    To get in front of a grand jury with this they will need to a) show evidence of intent to violate the statute; and b) conclusive evidence that the privately owned, for-profit torture facility meets the definition of a restricted federal facility as described in the statute. Otherwise the private property owner may not invoke the law enforcement authorities of the federal government in order to trespass a person from their property. Just like everyone else they have to call the local police.
