Hosea 13:16
The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open.

White American Evangelical Christians are going to have to figure out how far they’re willing to go along with Trump. I know, how about stop when he discriminated against Black people in housing? Or when he took his first shit in a gold plated toilet in a tower over a then impoverished city. Or when he said Mexicans are rapists. Or when when they heard him bragging about all the sexual assault. Or his attacks on food stamps and insurance while giving tax cuts to the wealthy. Or the sex outside marriage.
I know, for decent people support for Trump should have waned long ago, or never started. But now it’s at least a possibly that paid for one of his mistress’ abortions. Now, I don’t care if it wasn’t coerced. But White Evangelicals have been pretending that abortion is the same thing as murder for decades. I don’t think that they will care, but maybe that will be too far.

What ever happened to Seattle nice?
I was on the bus over the weekend, and I sat in the seats over the wheels that face each other, as opposed to the ones that face forward. It was bright out, so I had my sunglasses on. I should say for this story that they weren’t particularly dark.
I wasn’t really paying attention to anything other than the podcast about the Holy Roman Empire that I was listening to. The guy sitting across from me says, “where are you getting off the bus?”
I assumed he was going to need some help with something and was looking for a recruit. I really didn’t know. “Queen Anne.”
He didn’t say anything for a bit and then angrily said, “take your fucking glasses off. You’re being creepy.”
Now, I’m not damaging my eyes because some coked up (?) jackass on the bus is having a paranoid reaction to me sitting. So I sort of nod my head no, and go back to the podcast. Now guy who is concerned about creepy people on the bus is starting at me intently. And I have to pay him much more attention than I had been. He got off the bus before me and the rest of the section of the bus started laughing at him.
Be nicer, Seattle.

Numbers 15:32-36
While the Israelites were in the desert, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day. Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly, and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him. Then the LORD said to Moses, “The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp.” So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the LORD commanded Moses.

There’s a small part of me that hopes there is an initiative to repeal the head tax. I haven’t seen any polls, but I can’t imagine team regressive taxes and do nothing about homelessness is popular among Seattle voters. Still, I hope you don’t sign if you see a petition. It’s past time to deal with homelessness in Seattle.

So, obvi, all private server email scandals aren’t the same. Hillary Clinton deleting emails after her lawyer says it’s fine isn’t nearly as bad as the Republican Party losing State Department emails on their server. But if you’re going to say what about email servers, at the very least, don’t do it when you get in power. Honestly get your shit together.

Later this month is the 400th anniversary of the Defenestration of Prague. I have trouble wrapping my head around the 30 Years’ War, let alone the Holy Roman Empire. It’s tough to imagine the religious fervor. I don’t think anyone who participated could understand the horror they were unleashing.
The world seems very very different from ours. And yet 400 years seems like not much time at all.
