Appropriate to Colbert’s satire, at this week’s DL, one of the participants utterly lost his cool .. becoming vituperative and obscene. His anger was utterly inappropriate and if the target of this behavior had not acted like an adult (by moving away), we might well have had a bar scene involving police.

Delaware Republican Senatorial candidate Christine O’Donnell has responded to accusations that she overstated her education in her resume by insisting that a LinkedIn profile erroneously stating she went to Oxford University wasn’t authored with her knowledge.

There is of course no possibility that [Republicans] block the initiatives of Obama because, just maybe, they don’t believe them to be good ideas.
That would be plausible if Republicans hadn’t already argued that most of those ideas were good ideas before Obama became President.
How else does one explain, for example, the Republican opposition to the public option in health care reform? If the private sector can do insurance better than the government can, then surely the public option represents no threat to private insurance.
The real problem is that Republicans want to press policy ideas that the American public won’t buy: privatizing Social Security; severely cutting back, if not totally eliminating, Medicare; the elimination of all forms of welfare; and tax cuts for the wealthy over and above the same tax cuts that the rest of us get.
Republicans can’t even conjure up a cogent economic argument in support of their policies. They’re reduced to some moral argument about people having some right to their hard-earned money–a moral argument that falls flat on its face when we consider the fact that, without government, there would be no such thing as hard-earned money in the first place.
As you yourself have demonstrated time and again in this forum, the conservative rhetorical guns are loaded with nothing but blanks. Unable to win the actual policy debates, they resort to cynical political tactics like the filibuster in the Senate.
So, once again, you’re totally wrong. Liberals have, indeed, considered the notion that Republicans simply don’t agree with Democrats on major policy issues. The problem is, that conclusion isn’t supported by the facts.

Don Joe spews:
