Seriously, it’s 60 degrees at about 1:00am, according to the Seattle Times.
I blame this guy.

In Searching for New Job, Gonzales Sees No Takers
http://tinyurl.com/4f3sqk
By NEIL A. LEWIS, New York Times, April 13, 2008
WASHINGTON — Alberto R. Gonzales, like many others recently unemployed, has discovered how difficult it can be to find a new job. Mr. Gonzales, the former attorney general, who was forced to resign last year, has been unable to interest law firms in adding his name to their roster, Washington lawyers and his associates said in recent interviews.
He has, through friends, put out inquiries, they said, and has not found any takers. What makes Mr. Gonzales’s case extraordinary is that former attorneys general, the government’s chief lawyer, are typically highly sought.
A longtime loyalist to George W. Bush dating to their years together in Texas, Mr. Gonzales was once widely viewed as a strong candidate to be the first Hispanic-American nominated one day to the Supreme Court. A graduate of Harvard Law School, he carried an impressive personal story as the child of poor Mexican immigrants.
Despite those credentials, he left office last August with a frayed reputation over his role in the dismissal of several federal prosecutors and the truthfulness of his testimony about a secret eavesdropping program. He has had no full-time job since his resignation, and his principal income has come from giving a handful of talks at colleges and before private business groups. [snipped]
“Compassion — and action?” re: the Dalai Lama
POWERFUL article you offered Will! I don’t get the Times so probably would have missed it. Thanks!
I think the Dalai Lama is profound because he’s a Buddhist, and that religion is just so mysterious to me. I also think he’s profound because he wears exotic, colorful robes. I think people who dress like that have to be wise.
I also a Free Tibet supporter because that’s really far away and safe for me to take a stand on, even though I’m living in a country that went thought a similar situation where a more dominate power claimed and overtook the land of a smaller, weaker people. But I don’t support a Free America movement, because that hits too close to home. Besides, I’d have to move!
@4
Normally I’d just tell you to fuck off, but your post at #4 is both funny and more accurate than a lot of people would like to admit. People love to take stands on things that requires nothing from them and they have no control over. However, trying to get those same people to show up at a city council meeting to support bike lanes is a royal bitch.

Free bike lanes!!!
@7…DL…
Dolly Lama don’t ride a bike!
But his brother Tony’s boots are bitchin’!
The Piper
Seems that the Baker-Hamilton Commission (“Iraq Study Group”) had it right all along…
Preach on, brother: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/.....94264.html
I met a friend yesterday in the U. District who was up for the weekend from Los Angeles. He was really easy to spot, being as he was wearing a heavy wool sweater.
Piper @10, FYI it is well known that the Dalai Lama rides an exercise bicycle most mornings when he’s at home in Dharmsala.
@13…Alcina…
Then no need for bike lanes for the Dolly since stationary bikes are…stationary!
Curious…do you think he’d groove out wearing these: http://www.tonylamabootshop.co.....CT_834.htm ?
The Piper
Hmmmm…I’m not sure what exactly is wrong with bike lanes. Where I work a lot of people ride bikes to work. Although I don’t know them, I personally prefer them not dead.
Interestingly the weather yesterday was nice. Yes Will that article referenced by FnF was interesting. Also interesting the fact she ran over here to tell you that while not answering my question about growing up.
Why do you libbies run from answering questions? Fear of the truth being known?
More of Puddy’s republican friends in action demonstrating family values – GOP style.
BBG At least I have friends. You are a lonely boy…
Sux to be U!
Missed you at the Bowling Alley today bitch. Knew you wouldn’t show up. All hat and no cattle – just like your other friend Bush. And by the way – rapists as friends may be something you’re proud of but most people I know think that it would suck way more to be YOU!
Don’t like what I said? Sue me cunt! LOL!
Hey Goldy, is one of the features you might give us – with the new and more betta HA – the ability to put trolls on ‘Ignore’?
I’m a believer in the premise of “Don’t Feed The Trolls” but it sure gets tiresome, when they aren’t intelligent enough to take a hint. Then follow from thread to thread like some stalker.
BTW, nice! That new edit/fix feature!
““Historic collapse” of IRS audit rates of big companies
By JIM ABRAMS
The Associated Press
WASHINGTON — The tax audit rates of the largest companies are less than half what they were 20 years ago while more small and midsize businesses are coming under scrutiny, according to an organization that monitors the Internal Revenue Service.
The Syracuse University-based Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) described what it said was a “historic collapse” in audits for corporations holding assets of $250 million or more. About 26 percent of them were audited in the 2007 budget year compared with 34 percent in 2006 and 43 percent in 2005….”
Source: http://seattletimes.nwsource.c.....its14.html
Lots of commentators here have noted that the real rate of inflation is quite higher than official figures. Does anyone seriously believe that prices rose only 4.1% for 2007?
Is it possible that since IRS oversight has been cut in half for the largest corporations, that the real profits and taxes owed upon those profits, is considerably larger than reported?
Republican strategy: Don’t try to change the laws. Just refuse to enforce them. At least with respect to your friends.

What too scared to answer a simple question about life?
What too scared to “put it on the line”?
So you think I’m stalking you?
Waaaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa haaaa
Not hardly. But the lack of an honest answer tells me you were taught to hate black people as a child.
Thanks for playing…
Same for Jennie Tlazoteotl, FricknFrack as she won’t answer the question either. And these people play the Donkey card tout le temps!
It’s so easy to smoke you all out…
Thanks for playing both of you.
I guess Obama was/is right.
So ByeByeGOP was at the bowling alley. I like bowling. I take a 16 “black” pound ball and hit dem “white” pins. Whomeever invented the game was prescient. I visualize BBG as the head pin, take my four step approach slide the last five inches wind up and kablammmo.
Down goes BBG and other donkey.
Don’t worry FrickNFrack and Jennie Tlaz, you non-answer gave me the “answer” I needed.
Thanks for playing… Score one for Obama.
