Clearly I’ve been coming here to HA for at least a decade to argue that constant threat of gun violence at places where people gather, like schools, churches and synagogues, malls, theaters, arenas and ballrooms is just something Americans must accept and get used to, for all the dumb reasons you already know.

But now I have to argue that the threat of gun violence in certain places where only certain people gather is an emergency that requires the government to take very drastic measures.

    You believe me, don’t you?

🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iran’s proposal is now fully visible.

Lift the naval blockade first. End the war. Nuclear negotiations come later. Much later.

Trump responds by convening a Situation Room meeting tomorrow with his full national security team.

Tehran is asking Washington to remove its primary leverage before the most consequential negotiation begins.

That’s either a serious opening offer… or a test of whether Trump will blink.

Although merely continuing the blockade while Iran’s inflation spirals, its storage reaches full capacity, and its wells must be shut down would work nearly as well, and it would give libbies more opportunities for that TACO chant they love so much.

    I wonder what with?

Iran demonstrated its capability to shoot down relatively small, fast, and highly maneuverable F-15E strike fighters using IR targeting systems. This was after the U.S. had been relying heavily on stand-off weapons like cruise missiles. But with cruise missile inventories now reportedly heavily depleted, the U.S. will have to be much more target selective.

I agree, it looks like now that Rubio and Vance are bowing out of the shitshow, and with real estate investors Kushner and Witkoff having “inexplicably” failed to make any progress, the lying troll’s Insane Failing Cult Leader will turn back to bombing. But it’s very uncertain how that will produce either the splashy images of burning bodies of school girls that the lying troll relies on for his Spank Bank, or achieve much of a strategic difference. It’s something to do. But it will drive the negotiations farther apart IMHO. Especially with the next teen girl’s volleyball tournament we incinerate.

America wants this to end. The rest of the world wants this to end.

Only a hardcore faction of MAGA and Israel want it to continue. And that’s mostly because they’ve run out of ideas.

While MAGA hungers for the Israeli Sport War to continue indefinitely, farm bankruptcies are surging uncontrollably. Last year farm bankruptcies surged by 46% with the GOP’s beloved “American Heartland” seeing bankruptcies up 70%. That was all built on the illegal tariffs. Now farm fuel prices and fertilizer prices are so unaffordable that many failing farms are not even going to plant this spring.

Meanwhile those tariff taxes that bankrupted so many farmers are being refunded to the giant global corporations who passed them off onto “heartland” farmers. And the GOP is trying to push through funding for more farm worker torture facilities, more billion dollar war machines, and a “family-sized” war proof ballroom bombshelter for themselves.

@22 whaddabout alert.. can we get an “AAAAA-CHOOO” with that?

Chapter 12 bankruptcy aka farm bankruptcy is different..

Sarah Taber goes into detail here:

    https://youtu.be/xon9A5_4tQw?si=iWS6eSBRsVeCZ76y

    Key Takeaways:

The Myth of the ‘Struggling’ Family Farmer: While the public often perceives small family farmers as poor and on the brink of collapse, most are actually millionaires with six-figure incomes (4:25-4:50). The narrative of the struggling smallholder is largely outdated.

Bankruptcy as a Tool, Not an End: Taber explains that Chapter 12 Bankruptcy is a specialized, “softer” form of legal protection specifically for family farms and fishermen (6:16-6:53). Rather than forcing farms out of business, it acts as a mechanism for restructuring debt and keeping operations running (7:22-7:45).
Impact of Policy Changes: In 2019, the Trump administration expanded eligibility for Chapter 12 by increasing the debt cap from $3 million to $11 million (8:45-9:37). This allowed larger, wealthier agricultural investors to access protections originally intended for small-to-medium family farmers, contributing to a rise in reported bankruptcy filings (9:39-10:50).

General Economic Context: The current rise in farm bankruptcies is part of a broader trend affecting the entire US economy, rather than a specific crisis in the farm sector (1:38-2:00, 10:51-11:10).

The “Farm Lobby” Narrative: The video argues that the farm lobby frequently creates “crisis” headlines to solicit government funding (2:07-2:50). Taber notes that agricultural cycles naturally produce either good harvests (leading to low prices) or bad harvests (leading to high prices), making it easy to manufacture a narrative of “distress” regardless of the actual state of the food supply (12:02-12:30).

    Conclusion:
Agriculture in the U.S. is more robust than news headlines suggest. Historical data indicates that even during major “farm crises” (like the 1980s), the actual number of farms and the stability of the food supply often remained relatively stable (16:21-17:15). Taber concludes that the current focus should be on general economic literacy rather than panic over the agricultural sector (18:21-18:52).

But yes, orange asshole in thrall to Israel and asshole’s tariff delusions only hurts the ag sector – and everyone else as well. As Taber says in the video, EVERYONE is going bankrupt.

This was so awful that since March 31 the DJIA has risen more than 6%.

This was so awful that since March 31 the S&P 500 has risen 9.9%.

And why.. The AI with DuckDuckGo tells me this:

    Strong Corporate Earnings Growth

Recent earnings reports indicate robust growth, with estimates suggesting over 13% growth in the first quarter of 2026.

This marks the sixth consecutive month of double-digit earnings growth, which is significant even in a challenging economic environment.

    Investor Confidence

Despite ongoing geopolitical tensions, investor sentiment has shifted positively, focusing on long-term fundamentals rather than short-term volatility.

The belief that markets can “look through” current crises, such as the war in the Middle East, has contributed to this confidence.

    Global Savings and Investment Trends

There is a substantial influx of global savings being directed into a limited number of investment areas, which helps sustain high asset valuations.

The asset management industry is channeling these funds, leading to increased demand for stocks and driving prices higher.

Oh that’s interesting about strong earnings. How balanced is that growth.. We dig deeper:

Sectors with Strong Corporate Earnings Growth

As of April 2026, several sectors are experiencing notable corporate earnings growth. The following sectors are highlighted for their performance:

    Key Sectors

    Sector Factors Driving Growth

Technology Increased capital spending and technological advances

Industrials Growth in capital spending, particularly in AI infrastructure and energy

Health Care Technological advancements and improving operational efficiencies

The top two scream AI and mag 7 which is behind a massive wave of layoffs..

Health care means aging population who has the munee and good insurance to burn.

Too bad that tasteless ballroom won’t be finished by November.

The president did not add any commentary to his posts, but across Asia and the United States, many people saw an unwelcome message that demanded a response.

“We are deeply disturbed by @POTUS sharing this hateful, racist screed targeting Indian and Chinese Americans,” said the Hindu American Foundation, a group that has been critical of both Democrats and Republicans, in a statement on X. “Endorsing such rants as the president of the United States will further stoke hatred and endanger our communities, at a time when xenophobia and racism are already at an all time high.”

    54,
We’ve got lots and lots of aerial bombs. A few semi-smart ones even. And a retrofit kit that can make some of the dumb bombs into almost smart bombs.

But the two big problems for all that is those bombs have to be delivered over their targets which puts very expensive aircraft at risk and creates shitshows like the obviously rather botched rescue mission that resulted in losing a lot of additional aircraft and systems. Also gets good kids killed.

And the other problem is that these relatively dumb bombs can’t precisely “take out” the things the Insane Failing Cult Leader says he would now like to begin targeting without creating worse consequences. Funny thing is, it turns out that it’s a perfectly normal and natural thing for civilian infrastructure to be located right smack dab in the middle of lots and lots of, well, civilians. Many of these civilians are going to be little kids, babies, pregnant moms, old folks feeding ducks, kids lining up after school to buy ice cream, Golden Retrievers chewing on squeaky plush toys, etc. And the Insane Failing Cult Leader is going to incinerate them.

So “bombs away” means more horrific atrocities and war crimes.

And slaughtering thousands of little kids and moms and grandparents isn’t going to bring Iran crawling back to the negotiating table. That’s not how real people work. But MAGA cult chuds hardly know any real people. So they don’t get that.

SBA Sends 562,000 Suspected Fraudulent Loans to Treasury for Collections Totaling $22 Billion
White House Task Force to end Biden Administration amnesty for fraudulent pandemic-era loans, pursue historic collection

The borrowers are tied to $22.2 billion in delinquent Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and COVID Economic Injury Disaster (EIDL) loans that were previously flagged for suspected fraud during the Biden Administration but never sent to Treasury for collection nor referred to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) for investigation.

The SBA has transmitted the borrowers to the DOJ. And with today’s referral, Treasury will begin collecting on the outstanding debt as part of the Trump Administration’s commitment to recouping stolen pandemic-era funds on behalf of American taxpayers and small business owners.

“From Day One, the Trump SBA has worked tirelessly to crack down on billions in pandemic-era fraud that the Biden Administration forgave or ignored.

91)Too bad the downside of the Subareas Equity Rule never gets mentioned. Revenue has to be used to benefit the Subareas it was collected. It’s the urban core of three counties, with King County further subdivided. It’s actually a rule I agree with, even though not all are equal revenue generators. Starting to see some opponents shift to making sure projects are delivered. Now that TDLE has shifted off Sound Transits Path of Least Resistance on the South End, I-5 to avoid a tribal school and cemetery, perhaps a deal with Puyallup Nation can be worked out over funding, as the currently proposed Fife and Portland Ave Stations happen to be close to the Crown Jewels of Tribal Enterprises.

Since Public Transit bus operators are limited on providing special event services, Pierce Transit needs to rework their Federal Way-Puyallup route, preferably before September I timed the 402 Meridian from the Federal Way LINK Station to the Fairgrounds, 40 minutes is too slow. Pierce Transit is limited in their resources, and long deadhead times lead to the Puyallup routes being ended early than other PT routes. 402 ends about an hour earlier than the 400-Tacomans/Puyallup route. Unlike Metro’s six garages, they only have Lakewood.

Also, hopefully 550 will be eliminated in September, no longer needed to run to Seattle, plan is to a Bellevue-Issaquah bus to replace it, so the Bellevue Way portion doesn’t lose bus service, although personally I believe that should be Metro’s responsibility.

City of Seattle and Metro should look into Trolleybus operators like this one and in Prague as a solution to range anxiety with battery buses. Potentially could double the number of routes without too much more wire added. Did a search via Gemini on potential candidates, RTs 8, 44, and 48 are most near term immediate options Since In Motion Charging requires less OCS, could see routes in NIMBY neighborhoods like Madison Park rewired, although the 11 would still need to be wired uphill to take advantage of the Trolleybus advantage on hills.

. Another new development out of Europe is Skoda is working on battery buses options that charge off overhead wire. If they can equip it on buses less than 40ft, 107 would be a great route to use it on.

The project calls for onsite natural gas generators and about half the total power coning from local utilities.

As part of the deal the tax rate on consumed electricity will be .5% while county single family ratepayers pay 6%. Where the additional 4-5gw will cone from is…you guessed it, new generator projects by the utility paid for by increased residential rates and the taxes generated from them.

The DJT47 administration has figured out it can kill offshore wind farms by paying the companies building them to stop, and instead reinvest that payment in oil and gas leases and other petrofuel projects.

The Trump administration’s $1 billion payout to a French energy company to walk away from U.S. offshore wind development is a novel tactic against the industry that supporters see as creative — but opponents see as foolish and extreme.

The Interior Department announced Monday that TotalEnergies agreed to what is essentially a refund of its leases for projects off the coasts of North Carolina and New York, and will invest the money in a liquefied natural gas export terminal in Texas and other fossil fuel projects instead.

Your poll – here, I’ll link it because you’re afraid to – assumes that only 77-78% ofTexas GOP voters support their own candidate, while 88-89 % of Texas Dem voters support Talarico.

Oh, and “A Republican candidate running for office” gets a net favorable rating of Plus 9 and “The Republican Party” gets a net favorable rating of Plus 2, but Cornyn and Paxton, who are Republican candidates running for office, get net favorable ratings of Negative 10 and Negative 15, respectively.

Meanwhile “The Democratic Party” gets a Negative 7 but your golden boy Talarico gets a Plus 10.

Oh yeah. I’d go all-in on those poll results, clown. Borrow against your kids’ college funds, because those numbers are a sure thing. Trust me, I know polling. I absolutely killed it in 2024.

Now that Donnie and co are out of market manipulation strategies, National Average Gas Prices are up $0.15 in a week. $.09 in Texas. That’s $3.24 more for this weeks F-150 fillup over last week. $134 for that standard 36 gal tank in the most popular car in the great state of Texas. Texas are paying a dollar more a gallon pre “PeeWee Donie’s Big Adventure.”

    Talarico in a landslide.

    130,
Wow. Lot’s of words standing in for “how can I lie about this poll I don’t like?”

The favorability results are from the poll data. The sobbing lying troll crybaby needs to blame the random population of respondents.

…assumes that only 77-78% ofTexas GOP voters support their own candidate, while 88-89 % of Texas Dem voters support Talarico.

The poll assumes no such thing. That too is in the resulting data from the poll respondents. Waaah!. Boo-Hoo!

Those results may be outliers. But it’s far too early to tell. It may be reasonable to assume that a lot of Texas voters aren’t even tuned in yet. But they are not inconsistent with other data from actual votes so far this year. G Elliot Morris has some useful insights to share about this here:
    https://www.gelliottmorris.com/p/2026-04-28-no-turnout-wont-save-republicans-this-fall

The faith-based MAGA consultancy class are advising Texas Republicans that they can clobber Democrats with the right kind of messaging that rallies their voters to turnout. This is suspect first because the same class of campaign consultancy pimps are fairly busy jerking off over a gigantic pile of money that fascist dark money PACs are getting ready to spend. And these guys want it spent in Texas. But it is also suspect because it makes the same basic error in logic as the lying troll does. It assumes that Cornyn or Paxton quite literally own an entire population of voters based on whatever happened two years prior. The “trick” is just to get them off their asses. They assume that as long as turnout is close enough to previous contests they get to win.

But things can change like that. Lots has changed in just the last fifteen months. And MAGA vote share might be one of them. As Morris points out, the voter file data are showing a change that GOP consultants and MAGA cult chuds like the lying troll might not like.

That shouldn’t be too shocking if viewed in context. There’s an incredibly unpopular war plastered all over every Republican candidate. Inflation is as bad or worse, despite promises of improvement. The way that Immigration enforcement is being conducted has shocked and sickened most voters. The federal budget has exploded under a unified Republican government. And the Republican administration has been mired in corruption scandals entirely of their own making since last summer.

In gubernatorial elections with a clean partisan choice Democratic vote share has increased from between 3% and 5%. That alone was enough to win these races, even without any turnout effects. Special elections have shown a similar shift in vote share when adjusted for partisan effects. And it’s a midterm contest. Past performance doesn’t actually account for what the GOP consultants claim it would in a midterm. The party out of power gains seats in midterms because of shifts in partisan vote share.

Lucky for me, I’m not paying much attention to horse race polls this year. Even more lucky for me, the lying troll obviously is. It’s going to be rough. And he’s going to have to come here and cry his eyes out for my amusement many more times before November. So let’s keep posting them and watching his head explode. Who says there’s no replacing Puddy?
