SCOTUS oral went horribly for the Republican cult MAGAts this morning.
I still have faith that Thomas and Alito will find a way to dissent, that Alito will make Thomas write it, and that he will make a complete ass of himself in it.
I also leave open the potential for three other MAGA justices to join them in coming up with some kind of limited restriction on birth right citizenship. But if they manage that, it will have to depend on Alito to deftly thread that needle, convincing the other three to join. And it doesn’t seem like he has that in him anymore.

There’s a bright side, of course. Liberals eating their own means that after the feast there are fewer liberals.
Apparently President Crazy Cult Boomer stormed out in the middle of argument.

I doubt the disrespect that demonstrates for the court will help him with Roberts. And it probably means Roberts will not be retiring before 2029. And if Alito really means to retire, then this will be his last big shot at making a lasting mark on turning back the clock to slavery.

Happy to report that the brigade of accounts who lit into MJS yesterday were found to be mostly well established, notorious troll farm accounts that feature on many widely distributed and popular block lists.

And the overwhelming and unprecedented flood of encouraging comments, likes, and follows that MJS received proves it.
Stern, a senior writer and legal analyst for Slate, who had initially suggested that he probably would decline to comment in future on any SCOTUS decisions, was later convinced to put that decision on hold for now.
