Hey gang. It’s nice when lefties win. Good results across the country. It’s too early to tell, but I think good results in Seattle. Well, the City Council races and a City Attorney who doesn’t hate Seattle’s poorest people. Across the state, it seems like a lot more W’s than L’s.

Also, I don’t know what’s happening with SNAP benefits, but you can donate to the Pike Market Food Bank.

Sends it back to the House where Mike can’t take it up because then he’d have to seat a Democratic house member and Donnie won’t let him release the Epstein files under any circumstances.

Given last night’s results even in Red States, are Democrats requiring concessions on Health care to reopen the government in a

Let’s just say the Senate does come to some agreement and amends the CR.

First, let’s just clear up the false claim by the Actual Nazi Fucktard that this would somehow represent “caving” by Dems. This is what Senate Dems have been asking for since the House sent over their extremist, partisan garbage CR on September 19th. A compromise that restores the APTC would be a victory for Dems.

So an amended CR that restores APTC and keeps the ACA marketplace coverage plans alive into 2026 is what the House would have to vote on. And now that their constituents have received their renewal notices and seen their monthly premiums triple, plenty of House Republicans are ready to take the win.

It’s a win they probably need more than ever after the results they saw last night. But it will either require breaking ranks with MAGAT Mike and Fat Hitler, or a big reversal from the White House. And that might cost MAGAT Mike his gavel. Fat Hitler never loses, but some loyal soldier has to pay for it.

That’s why the Actual Nazi Fucktard retreated into ret-conning the CR. It’s “suddenly” possible that stripping health coverage and access for 40 million voters and their children is unpopular and that this upopularity is growing. Worse, polling indicates that while a smaller, but still significant majority of voters blame Republicans for the Shit Down, a much, much larger majority of voters blame Republicans for blowing up the ACA marketplaces that so many American families rely upon for their access to healthcare. This makes compromise on the APTC the most viable pathway out of the Shit Down for Republicans as well as for Democrats. So natch, the Actual Nazi Fucktard now “suddenly” needs to make that feel like a Democrat defeat, rather than a Republican defeat.

The fascist YOLOing may have just come to an end. And he knows it.

As we pat ourselves on the back, let’s not forget any of the important lessons from last year either.

Fat Hitler’s disastrous win was a black swan. And down-ballot effects are real. So in an environment where the other party has embraced plutocracy and fascism, rejects the rule of law, and appears poised to militarily invade cities and seize authoritarian control over elections, Democrats just can’t afford to fuck around the way Joe Biden and his White House did, and the way single-issue voters did. We must all demonstrate a rational sense of priorities.

We are facing a national crisis of unfathomable proportion. All people of good faith have to come together and put our colletive interest in preserving democracy and the rule of law ahead of media manufactured fears, personal bias and personal ambition. Reactionary centrist Cuomo supporters lost. Reactionary centrist Spanberger supporters won.

Where do we stand? We must all stand together.

In the midst of a housing affordability crisis, mobile homes are seen as a way for those with limited incomes to generate wealth and access homeownership.
For private equity firms, housing has been a fruitful investment. But in order to maximize returns on their investments, they greatly increase rents and cut costs.
Over the past decade, rents in these parks bought by private equity firms have risen 45%.

    Good morning.

It continues to look very likely that the Comey indictment will be vacated before Thanksgiving. In a notice filed yesterday,
    https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.vaed.582136/gov.uscourts.vaed.582136.158.0.pdf
the chief AUSA serving Lindsay Halligan informed the court that, responsive to it’s request for complete grand jury transcripts they had ordered their transcription service for the first time to produce such a complete record, including comments made to the grand jury by Halligan before presenting her only witness.

That means that AG Bondi lied to the court when, in a last ditch to save the indictment, she attested that she had personally reviewed and “ratified” every detail of how Halligan had obtained the indictment. She could not have done so. No record of those details existed at the time that Bondi made that false claim to the court.

Comey is a bum. He deserves all this pain and more. But at least this unraveling of his prosecution serves as a road map to all the other defense teams facing these lawless, vindictive, politically based investigations and prosecutions from Bondi’s fascist ministry of revenge. And it’s going to prompt more and more DOJ prosecutors to turn and walk away from the Bondi dumpster fire.

Then a simple majority can grant statehood to both Puerto Rico and DC, adding four additional Democrats to the Senate, expanding the Supreme Court to thirteen, reversing the court repeal of the VRA, and a creating new electoral math for the next presidential election.

In other courthouse news, a jury has awarded a teacher shot in her classroom by a 6-year-old student $10 million.

A former assistant principal ignored warning signs that a 6-year-old Virginia boy brought a gun to school, an act of gross negligence that led to the avoidable shooting of the child’s first-grade teacher, a jury found Thursday.

The panel of three men and four women sided with former instructor Abigail Zwerner and awarded her $10 million in damages, plus interest, stemming from her wounding on Jan. 6, 2023, at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News.

    90,

Of course the Actual Nazi Fucktard misunderstands the role of the prosecution in our U.S. criminal legal system.

A prosecutor does not represent the alleged victim. A prosecutor represents the people, and enters her appearance before the court as such, “for the people”. The injured party a prosecutor represents is the people. And our statutes and penalties are not in any way intended to compensate or provide a remedy to any victim of a crime. Rather they are intended to remedy the injury to law and order suffered by the people. Under our system a murderer may not satisfy a judgement by paying compensation to a victim or their family.

The kind of victim-centered criminal legal system the Actual Nazi Fucktard describes is closer to the family/tribal systems of justice practiced in Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and the Near East. Western common law diverged from these concepts in the Middle Ages.

This is pretty fucking fundamental to western common law and legal traditions going back almost a millennium. This “sick burn” post of his is so stupid it makes my teeth hurt. Next he’ll be promoting trial by combat to get his beloved Führer off the hook.

Since the dispute does not involve health care costs but where the money comes from to pay them, it’s Democrats preferring that they pay to the government and the government then gives the health insurance money to the insurers. No less money is paid to the insurers.

No less money is paid to the insurers.

    Nor will it be.

Hard to imagine a sillier argument than this.

This is a big fallacy being forwarded by lying bigots and fascists about the APTC cuts.

The premim dollars contributed to insurance company income from APTC are already calculated into their business plans and have been for months. Eliminating 40 million subscribers from the system means that premium income must be recovered elsewhere. Every plan had contingencies in place ahead of the renewal period to adjust premium rates for all plans. Cutting APTC does not save one penny. It simply shifts costs from billionaires (the beneficiaries of the MAGA tax cuts) to premium payers like employers and individuals.

The only other differences (other than who pays) are that 40 million fewer Americans and their families have access to healthcare, and that the marketplace plans that survive become much more expensive resulting in still more people dropping coverage and losing access. Shifting still more costs onto the few remaining plans. And setting off a marketplace death spiral.

Which is of course the purpose of the APTC cuts. Slow but inevitable death to ACA, but in such a way that Republicans hope to avoid accountability. Because ACA is very popular.
