Hmmm. I wonder which political organization is behind this activity.

“Prompted by calls from voters targeted in a national political committee phone call and direct mail campaign, King County Elections Director Dean Logan reminds voters they do not need to re-register in order to vote this fall.”

    http://www.metrokc.gov/electio.....03_10.html

It seems that the people contacted are informed that they may not be registered.

Since the voter roles are public information, it is likely that the source of the address the pitch is sent to belies the contents.

Looks like another way of discouraging the less aware voter from exercising their franchise.

This fellow would have made a great justice on the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which Bush had nominated him to back in 2003 and 2004, only to be stalled by a threatened Democrat filibuster. And he had done such a wonderful job as Bush’s top domestic policy adviser, as shown by Bush’s approval rating in public opinion polls.

    http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/....._aide.html

Bush shocked by arrest of former adviser

    By DEB RIECHMANN
    ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER

WASHINGTON — President Bush on Saturday said he was shocked and saddened to learn that former domestic policy adviser Claude Allen was charged with theft for allegedly receiving phony refunds at department stores.

“When I heard the story last night, I was shocked, and my first reaction was one of disappointment, deep disappointment – if it’s true – that we were not fully informed,” Bush said. “Shortly thereafter, I felt really sad for the Allen family.”

Allen, 45, was arrested Thursday by police in Montgomery County, Md., for allegedly claiming refunds for more than $5,000 worth of merchandise he did not buy, according to county and federal authorities. He had been under investigation since at least January for alleged thefts on 25 occasions at Target and Hecht’s stores.

“If the allegations are true, Claude Allen did not tell my chief of staff and legal counsel the truth, and that’s deeply disappointing” the president said at the White House following an event on Iraq. “If the allegations are true, something went wrong in Claude Allen’s life, and that is really sad.”

Allen, who had been the No. 2 official at the Health and Human Services Department, was named as domestic policy adviser at the White House in early 2005. He resigned abruptly on Feb. 9, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family.

The night of Jan. 2, after an alleged incident at the Target in Gaithersburg, Md., presidential spokesman Scott McClellan said Allen called White House chief of staff Andy Card to tell him what had happened. The next morning, Allen spoke in person with Card and White House counsel Harriet Miers.

McClellan said Allen told Card and Miers that it was all a misunderstanding and cited confusion with his credit card because he had moved several times. “He assured them that he had done nothing wrong and the matter would be cleared up,” McClellan said.

The president first learned of Allen’s planned departure and the January incident in early February. But since Allen had passed the usual background checks and had no other prior issues that White House officials were aware of, “he was given the benefit of the doubt,” McClellan said.

Mallon Snyder, a Gaithersburg lawyer representing Allen, said his client was not improperly trying to take the items. Snyder said asked Target to produce videotape they said they have of Allen but that store representatives refused. He said he wants to meet with Target investigators to clear things up.

“It’s a misunderstanding on their part,” Snyder said, adding that the investigation had nothing to do with Allen’s departure from the White House.

Allen has been released on his own recognizance. Calls to Allen’s home in Gaithersburg, a Washington suburb, were not returned.

The Commission recommended no further action after considering staff’s investigative findings that showed the 2005 Pelz King County Campiang was discontinued after March 2004 when he became a candidate for Seattle City Council and that all reports were filed and available to the public at least one year prior to the 2005 election.”

    http://www.pdc.wa.gov/complian.....I22306.pdf

Look at Page 3. Pelz filed seven campaign finance reports late, varying between 4 and 61 days past due, involving $7,055.92 in contributions and $21,772.75 in expenditures.

On Page 5, Pelz filed a late report on February 7, 2006 (only after I filed my complain against him) showing how he disposed of the remaining $11,118.26 in campaign funds. These expenses were reported between two months and five months after the reports were due.

You do not know how to respect the monotheistic religions, or the prophets and messengers. Oh Arab and Muslim rulers, a trade boycott is not enough. Closing down embassies is not enough. You should instruct your peoples to boycott all the infidels.

Roger and Gang is this your problem fear of the unknown or the fact you could be wrong?
    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11787047/
    ‘Fear of the unknown’
The prospect of serving in a violent Iraq is still part of the equation for potential recruits, and Army officials say more frequent deployments have hurt recruitment for the active-duty Army, which began suffering shortfalls last year. The Guard has tried to address that concern by establishing a rotation cycle of one year abroad for every five years at home, which lends more predictability to the commitment, recruiters and military analysts say.
“Fear of the unknown hurts people. We want to take away the fear,” said Maj. Kristine Wood, recruiting commander for West Virginia. Since 2004, the Guard has had nine brigades deployed in Iraq and elsewhere, but that will drop to two by year’s end, officials say.

Frist isn’t under indictment, is he? What is the status of that investigation?

Probably the straw poll will give a big boost to Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who came in second. McCain could have come in second, but he chose to punt instead

Richard, did you even read the news articles? You stated:
“surely it should be okay for a ranking Republican to irregularly process credit card refunds on “only” $5K of merchandise from Target.”

This POS was buying the merchandise, going out to his car, returning with the empty bags, filling the empty bags with new merchandise, adding items along the way towards the customer service counter and getting a fraudulent refund for his previously purchased and left in the car merchandise and to top it all, proceeded to walk out of the store with his cart and all of the unpaid merchandise he had picked up. Get a life RP, this scumbag is one of the many reasons that honest people pay inflated amounts for their purchases. But then again, as a high ranking RepubliCON, you were probably in on dreaming up this scam for you pals.

    Cougar @ 69

Can’t you understand satire when you see it?

Do you think I actually LIKE the fact that we have such POS public “servants” running our country?

And I don’t think the Democrats would do any better.
