    Facts, reality and even video doesn’t mean anything. The other side has “faith” and “beliefs” and “gut feelings”. You could show 1,000,000 pages of research proving your point, they’ll just dismiss it. You can’t prove something to someone who doesn’t follow reality to begin with.

    Here is a test for you guys, did the Clinton crime bill outlaw the SKS or AK47? Did it outlay folding stocks? Did it outlaw high capacity magazines? The answer is no to all the above, all it did was to make it illegal to bye a SKS after the ban and buy (still available) folding stocks and buy a 30 round clip after the ban and marry those items together. If you had a pre ban SKS you were good to go anyway, as you were grandfathered in.

David Koch was chairman of the board of directors of CSE.[32] CSE received substantial funding from David Koch of Koch Industries, which is the largest privately-held energy company in the country, and the conservative Koch Family Foundations, which make substantial annual donations to conservative think tanks, advocacy groups, etc. Media Matters reported that the Koch family has given more than $12 million to CSE (predecessor of FreedomWorks) between 1985 and 2002.

    Incidentally, Gilbert himself is the primary suspect in the smuggling of the cyanide capsules into Goerings cell that he used to commit suicide before his sentence could be carried out.

    The Conservatives in this country want war. It is their primary motivational force. Aggression, the use of violent imagery and atavistic rhetoric are the tools of dictatorship and totalitarianism. They desire all that war brings to a nation. The expeditions into Vietnam, the Philippines, Iraq, Afghanistan etc bear that out.

    The method of blowing through a narrow section of a countries defenses, leaving much of their military capability intact to mop up later, is the method of conquest. It is the method of Empire. It has nothing to do with defense. It is the right wing conservative method of military campaign.

    That method leaves an enemy with too much of its capability intact and extends the conflict by forcing them into a protracted guerrilla campaign, relying on the civilian infrastructure to maintain its capabilities. That in turn requires the conquering forces to target that infrastructure in the course of defeating its enemy.

    That IS is the method of Fascism.

    In 2008, Limbaugh wailed against the support for Obama. He made it clear to his listeners that he considered Obama’s support to be invalid, because people were supporting him only because he was a “Halfrican”. Other rightwing commentators did likewise, some more explicitly, hitting two birds with one stone by criticizing both black voters and Obama, claiming that they were being ignorant in voting for Obama only because of his race.

    Because, as we all know from Conservative talking points going way back, no black man could ever be qualified to lead white people, without special assistance and consideration and “Affirmative Action”.

    But Obama’s election really shook them up. It wasn’t even close. And Republicans lost control of the Senate, to boot.

    Then, suddenly, Michael Steel is elected to head the GOP. A black Republican. And you sure can’t find many of them in a roomful of party movers and shakers.

    Was Micheal Steele the most qualified person for the job in the entire GOP? I’ve always suspected that his skin color made up 95% of Steele’s qualifications for the job. in early 2009, as the GOP lay in shambles and couldn’t decide to tack right, left, or go through the center, it seemed safest to bet that the answer to a black President was a black leader of the GOP.

    But now that his usefullness as a black figurehead has been deemed to be insufficient, the GOP has decided that Steele has to go.

    It reminds me of the bathroom scene from Trading Places – the Duke brothers are discussing the fate of Louis Winthrop III (Dan Akroyd) and Billy Ray Valentine (Eddie Murphy). Although Valentine had done what he was supposed to do, he had served his purpose, and there was no way they would ever allow a black man to have a permanant job in the Duke family business.

    Both parties seem to be trying to shift the economic crisis on the public, at the state and federal level. The public is expected to be polite about paying for all of this and or going without services. We’ll see how far this goes before there is more to be concerned with than rhetoric.

    I really don’t think it’s so much stupidity as it is mental illness. Perhaps equal portions of both, stewed to a toxic brew. Whatever his problem, there’s no getting through to him.

    I wouldn’t suggest to you what you should do. You strike me as someone who is hugely intelligent. But I will remind you that you’re trying to communicate with someone who has a screw loose and who has spent the last few years of his life posting tens of thousands of hate-filled comments written in the third-person.

    I’ve lost all patience with these people and I will no longer indulge them. At best, I’m wasting my time. At worst, I might provoke a psychotic into a murderous rage. I now have an ignore list. I should have had one a long time ago.

    While I’ve had some kicks here screwing with these people and their feeble minds, it really hasn’t been that much fun. I have more enjoyable and constructive things to do with my time. I can only blame myself for any time I’ve wasted.

    Conservatives keep distracting the stupids with one statistically insignificant spending controversy after another. It’s to the point where you can’t spit without hitting a conservative who actually believes the nonsense that we can find $5 billion worth of waste in our $30-odd billion biennial budget. This even after it’s been pointed out that the political-attention-deficit-disorder suffering State Auditor, after rooting out “waste and fraud” for five years, came up with about $250 million. SOUNDS like a lot–until you figure out it was somewhere between one-tenth and two-tenths of one percent of the budget. Personally, that level of “waste” is not going to get me out into the streets to call for the revolution. But it’s enough to convince the stupids that waste is under every government rock.
    When the reality of all the shit that’s going to have to be cut from the budget finally hits, people are going to be up in arms. They’re going to just “know”–without a single fucking fact, as usual–that the politicians protected all that waste these geniuses just “know” exist and allowed little children to suffer and old people to die from lack of access to healthcare. Parks are going to close, and prisoners are going to be cut loose. Social services and education are going to be cut–deeply. And that’s just for starters.
    It ain’t going to be pretty. And one big factor that got us here is the stupidity of voters who “know” that government couldn’t possibly be underfunded–because Fox told them so.
