2028 is just around the corner.

Illinois Governor Candidate Removed Mansion’s Toilets To Dodge Taxes, Report Finds

Pritzker is the Democratic nominee, a venture capitalist, and a very wealthy man — an heir to the Hyatt Hotels fortune, he’s worth $3.2 billion.

In 2007, Pritzker and his wife bought a second mansion next to the one they live in on Chicago’s Astor Street, for $3.7 million. As The Chicago Sun-Times reported, that mansion remained vacant and was allowed to fall into disrepair.

And then in October 2015, according to a report by Cook County Inspector General Patrick Blanchard, the Pritzkers had five toilets removed from the second house so that it would be classified as “uninhabitable” in a property tax appeal filed by the Pritzkers. Cook County assesses vacant properties at 10 percent of the market value.

The Dumbfuck Rabbit shithole has no working toilets, but it’s not to save tax dollars. It’s because he cannot afford to repair them.

As a result, the inspector general writes, “the County ultimately fell victim to a scheme to defraud … which resulted in the property owner ultimately receiving property tax refunds totaling $132,747.18 for the years 2012, 2013 and 2014, as well as additional tax savings of $198,684.85 for the years 2015 and 2016.”

But this POS billionaire will have no trouble at all raising your taxes.

Trying to scare off paramilitary thugs with gunfire is a sure way to trigger a massive response ending with police dropping fire bombs.

Then Stephen Miller can declare “Marshul Law!!” and begin the invasions from neighboring states. This is why Bob Fergusson just signed a new law making it illegal for any other state’s national guard to be present in Washington state without first having obtained the Governor’s permission.

It isn’t as if such a law will stop Fat Hitler. But it will be likely to slow and impede the cooperation he’ll need when he makes further moves to remove state authority and consolidate control.

Good to see this happening, when you have fewer manufacturers, prices go up. In the 30-40ft heavy-duty category, down to just two manufacturers that do both electric and diesel/CNG. NOW ENC is back. Looking at their battery offerings, they got a 32ft version. Kitsap Transit is phasing out diesel, but the routes operating out of the Port Orchard Ferry Terminal will get a reprieve. Those use 30ft buses,

ICE has now deported at least THREE children who are U.S. citizens, hastily and without any kind of process, one of whom is a cancer patient deported “deported without medication or medical consultations.” The kids are 2, 4, and 7 years old.

    https://www.rawstory.com/us-deports-3-american-children-including-cancer-patient-rights-groups/

These kids have been traumatized for life. Their civil rights have been violated, so obviously §1983 causes of action exist.

Provided they’re promptly returned to the U.S., which would obviate ongoing accumulation of damages, I’d say about $5 million for the kid with cancer, and $3 million apiece for the other two, and because their deportations were plainly ultra vires of any law or constitutional provision, I think the courts show impose personal liability on the perpetrators with joint and several liability for everyone involved, from ICE agents and pilots on up to cabinet secretaries and Trump himself. Give ’em a lien on Mar-a-Lago until the judgments are satisfied.

Hey wait, since we don’t do trials or due process in America anymore, let’s impose liability by fiat! Right now! Unfair? Of course not, that’s just giving them a dose of their own medicine.

China is too big a hole to fill, dumbfuck. You’re not going to make up that much trade from any other country or collection of countries.

Moreover, the object of Trump’s tariffs is to reduce imports to bring them into balance with exports. That’s a difference of $1.3 trillion a year; actually more when you factor in retaliation against U.S. exports. You’ll have net reductions of both incoming and outgoing freight.

That translates into less work on the docks, less freight for railroads, fewer loads for truckers, less merchandise on store shelves. Gobs of American jobs will be lost. This is grade school math, dumbfuck.

@40 “Kudos to the team leader for going back, apologizing, owning up, and leaving a card for the owner’s next step.”

Are you kidding? They’re fighting monetary compensation tooth and nail. You think an apology makes up for this?

Every negligence case arises from an “honest mistake,” whether it’s a doctor’s diagnosis, pilot error, or a driving mistake. In a country where the people supposedly are supreme, and government is supposed to be subordinate to the people, how do you justify giving government carte blanche to make mistakes and deny innocent citizens any recourse? That’s contrary to the core ideology on which our society and government are founded.

Moreover, giving police immunity from tort liability encourages police carelessness. If there are no consequences for going to the wrong address, there will be many more incidents of police going to the wrong address. Only lawsuits can give police sufficient incentive to exercise due care to avoid such incidents.

You’re right, police work isn’t like delivering mail. Police negligence puts citizens in far greater danger, and causes far greater harm. That’s not a rationale to immunize police negligence from legal responsibility; it’s an argument for holding police liable for their mistakes.

  44. 44

    Roger Rabbit spews:

    Sunday, 4/27/25 at 3:30 pm

Trump has made a bold claim about the projected efficacy of his sky high tariffs …. On Sunday morning, Trump vowed in a post on Truth Social that income taxes for many Americans will be “substantially reduced” or even “completely eliminated” in the wake of the tariffs.

“When Tariffs cut in, many people’s Income Taxes will be substantially reduced, maybe even completely eliminated,” he wrote. “Focus will be on people making less than $200,000 a year.

    https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-tariffs-taxes-eliminated_n_680e4676e4b052c33e2744e9

Given the dynamic nature of enforcement operations, officers in the field are authorized to apprehend aliens upon a reasonable belief that the alien meets all four requirements to be validated as an alien enemy. This authority includes entering an alien enemy’s residence to make an AEA apprehension where circumstances render it impracticable to first obtain a signed notice and warrant of apprehension and removal.

    https://www.rawstory.com/revealed-leaked-memo-shows-doj-ordering-ice-agents-to-invade-homes-without-warrants/

This is a good way to get ICE agents killed by armed homeowners, especially if they make a habit of going to wrong addresses.

And because Trumpers own most of the guns in this country, and are more inclined to have itchy trigger fingers, it’ll be Trumpers who do most of the killing.

Texas, in particular, will become a very dangerous place for ICE agents acting on this policy.

Homebuyers Hit the Brakes as Economic Jitters Grow
High home prices and high mortgage rates have left the market expensive, and even high-income buyers are pulling back as their stock-market portfolios take a hit. The Republican administration’s policies have fueled anxiety among consumers, agents said, causing them to delay purchases. The Republican’s new tariffs on imported goods, in particular, have upset financial markets, decreasing the wealth buyers can allocate to housing. Attempts to drastically reduce the size of the federal government have caused financial hardship for workers laid off from their jobs.

In a Redfin survey conducted between April 10 and 14, about a quarter of respondents — including 25% of homeowners and 19% of renters — canceled plans for a major purchase due to tariffs. Nearly four in 10 respondents, including 41% of homeowners and 31% of renters, said the Republican’s tariff policy made them much less likely to make a big purchase like a home or car this year.

    Voting for Republicans caused this.

They don’t have to. They’re already redirecting their economy to domestic consumption.

Neither do we need dollar stores, cheap kitchen gadgets from China, or all the other crappy goods we buy from them. I’ve been avoiding “Made In China” for years.

The only thing China sells us that we really can’t do without is a long list of rare earth minerals used in things like Tesla car batteries.

Oh, and China doesn’t need Tesla cars or Boeing jets,* either.

74)Finding a lot of great old movies, officially allowed or not, on YouTube. Was watching A Night to Remember, although that wasn’t the first movie about the disaster. One of the first was actually a German propaganda film that Goebels wasted a lot of Reichsmarks on, and didn’t release to German cinemas. He actually was afraid it would stir up audiences, but not against the allies. Well, they did add a fictional officer of German background questioning the recklessness of Captain Smith. Couldn’t have Germans see a German questioning authority. Saw a documentary on the German Titanic film, they said some of it was used in A Night to Remember, as the cinematography was good. The German liner in the film, was involved in a tragedy worse than the Titanic.

Another good one found on YT is Pursuit of the Graf Spee. Too bad it was 20 years before Network. That Captain went from preying on merchant ships to being Mad as Hell and Can’t take it anymore.

It’s an interesting perspective once their mask comes off.

Even more so since it really appears that, at least for now, most of MAGA is willing to endure quite a lot of permanent economic disruption, and dismantling of the Constitution and individual freedoms and protections in order to get the bigotry they hunger for.
