Jared Polis announced Friday that he’s commuting the prison sentence of Tina Peters, a former county clerk and 2020 election denier who was sentenced to nine years behind bars for tampering with election equipment. Polis, a Democrat, wrote in an executive order that Peters “is granted parole effective June 1.”

    Peters is a POS election denier who repeatedly thumbed her nose at the legal system, including lying to the judge. While in prison, she choked another inmate, but wasn’t charged and didn’t get extra time for that. The silver lining in her pending release is that as a convicted felon she can’t hold public office again, and she’ll be on parole, so any more misconduct of the sort so characteristic of her could return her to prison. Which, really, is where people like her belong.
