During a Tuesday interview, Trump repeatedly said that 13 male service members had died during Operation Epic Fury. “We lost 13 men,” he said on CNBC. “But if somebody would have said, ‘We’ve done this and obliterated that country — obliterated it — and we lost 13 men,’ people would’ve said, ‘That’s not possible.’” According to DCAS, three of the dead are actually women: Maj. Ariana Gabriella Savino, Technical Sgt. Ashley Brooke Pruitt, and Master Sgt. Nicole Marie Amor.

Over the weekend I was at my great niece’s hoops tournament at the Spooky Nook Sports complex in Ohio. I lost count of the number of times I heard those coaches mention “man-on-man” coverage and yell “Stay on your man!” to their players, none of whom looked like trannies.

Barack spent far more than that to keep the UAW workers at Chrysler and GM employed.

Would you rather have Spirit gone while United and American complete a merger?

From what I read Spirit was about to emerge from bankruptcy with concessions in-hand from bondholders and unions when the war started and fuel prices spiked. I don’t see a bridge financing as a problem, in that circumstance.

    @ 13

A similar study in children was reported a few months ago, and discussed here on HA. Basically in that study the vaccine was shown to reduce hospital visits and hospitalizations for about six months after either the initial vaccine series or the booster.

There were some serious problems with that study, including the fact that ER visitis and hospitalizations were counted if the children were seen for some problem other than COVID-19 infection. If they tested positive for COVID-19 and for influenza and/or RSV they were included. The study ended up describing the visits/hospitalizations as “COVID-19 associated” rather than caused by COVID-19. For a kid, influenza and RSV are far more likely to cause serious illness than is COVID-19.

Here is the summary of limitations of that study:

    Limitations
The findings in this report are subject to at least five limitations. First, although case-patients met a COVID-19–like illness definition and received a positive SARS-CoV-2 test result, they might have visited ED/UCs for reasons other than COVID-19, potentially lowering VE estimates. Second, misclassification of vaccination status was possible, which would likely result in underestimation of VE if the misclassification was nondifferential. Previous estimates across networks including various COVID-19 vaccine history ascertainment methods (i.e., EHR, immunization information systems, self-report, and claims data) have yielded similar VE estimates (9). Third, children aged 9 months–4 years and children and adolescents aged 5–17 years account for a smaller fraction of the general population than adults in age groups frequently examined in VE analyses (i.e., 18–64 years and ≥65 years), decreasing the sample size available for estimating VE in children and adolescents compared with adults. In addition, because of relatively low COVID-19 vaccination coverage in children compared with adults and overall lower rates of medically attended COVID-19 during 2024–2025 compared with 2023–2024, this study did not have sufficient statistical power to measure VE by finer intervals of time since dose and for hospitalization. Fourth, although analyses were adjusted for some relevant confounders, residual confounding from other factors, such as behavioral modifications to prevent SARS-CoV-2 exposure and outpatient antiviral treatment for COVID-19, might remain. Finally, low COVID-19 vaccination coverage among children and adolescents might reduce the generalizability of results.

    https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/74/wr/mm7440a1.htm#:~:text=During%20August%2029%2C%202024%E2%80%93September,with%20no%202024%E2%80%932025%20vaccination.

I see no problem with analyzing the data by different methodology. You should see no problem with the reality that the current study is getting far more air play now that it’s being held back than if it had been published in the MMWR communication.

TriMet has seen a bump in Diesel prices, as well as electricity prices, but TriMet uses R99, which is a blend that only uses 1%Petroleum Diesel. Metro mainly uses ULSD and what buses they havr that burn diesel are now hybrids, and the most recent purchase have start/stop capability. Now would be a good time for Metro to rethink their policy on trolleybus battery use. No more weekend dieselization for minor construction impacts.

The United States is therefore likely to succeed on the merits of its Supremacy Clause claim, and the other preliminary injunction factors also weigh in its favor. Just pause for a moment and consider where we are with the whaddaboutism.

Republicans are ordering the public street execution of nurses for protesting “the wrong way” and firing cabinet members for refusing to order violations of the international humanitarian conventions.

And the raving MAGA cult liar wants to compare that to the unforgivable error of “overstimulating” the economy after an historically unprecedented global shutdown.

We really need to stop responding to these provocations this way. The MAGA GOP are committing major global war crimes supporting genocidal threats to global security. Oh, and occasionally committing murder. Their complaints about marginal domestic economic policy are entirely irrelevant. And they need to be treated as such.

    Voter.

    Approved.

So far every Democratic mid decade redistricting has been 100% voter approved.

    Texans can’t say that.
    Tennesseeans can’t say that
    North Carolinians can’t say that.
    Missourians can’t say that.

    Republicans can not say that.

This is another example of the whaddaboutism that really needs to be addressed very differently. STOP ACCEPTING THEIR FALSE FRAMING. Stop pretending according to their premises that these things can be compared.

    They can’t.

Because they are categorically dissimilar things. Stop agreeing to play according to the rules established by fucking child rapists.
