The deal lets him keep all the territory he’s invaded, awards him additional territory, removes all U.S. sanctions, and puts Ukraine on the hook to pay for it. It offers no security guarantees to Ukraine but promises to veto any NATO membership for Ukraine. It’s a massive strategic win being handed to Russia coming from a completely illegal and immoral war of territorial aggression.
