Puddl @1 is splitting the tiniest of hairs and is trying to leverage the smoke and dust Romney has kicked up over the subject to confuse things.
It’s unfortunate that Letterman is coming down the way he is, but I think Maddow’s pushback was just fine, and appropriately calibrated for a guest on the show of the guy making the mistake.
Just as with foreign policy, Romney is trying to latch onto the success of the auto bailout as engineered by Obama – pretending that what Obama did was the same as Romney’s ‘private bankrupcy’ which was manifestly unworkable at the time. Romeny would have presided over a process that would have led to the liquidation of the auto companies, and in turn the devastation of their suppliers. Moreover, ‘bankrupcy’ would have allowed the abrogation of contracts and pensions – feature not bug for Republicans – and dealt a body blow to union workers all over the country.
Romney is counting on the fiction that there was private capital available, and peoples’ short memories and unfamiliarity with bankruptcy processes.
Puddl is of course just spewing the right wing yawp du jour – google ‘letterman calls out obama’ and you get the sources of puddl’s incisive commentary. *eye roll*

Liberal Scientist is a Dirty Fucking Socialist Hippie spews:
If Republican ideas are so transcendently fantastic, why do they have to lie about them?
Why did Willard have to throw overboard every foreign policy position he’s ever had, and, importantly, is held by his advisers like Senor and Bolton, Hayden, Black and Lehman, when he bear-hugged and clinched Obama in the third debate?
Why, when right-wing Christianist he-man woman haters like Akin and Mourdock speak what’s in their hearts, revealing the actual positions of the misogynist right, does Willard and the rest of the Republican establishment go to ground?
Why, when discussing the most important single maneuver of the response to the Bush Depression, the auto bailout, does Romney try his best to portray what Obama did as Romney’s own plan, when it clearly was not?
Flim-flam man. Huckster. Grifter. Unctuous used car salesman. Romney.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@9 “Why did Willard … bear-hugged and clinched Obama in the third debate?”
Here’s why:
“For anyone wondering why Mitt Romney avoided drawing any distinctions between his foreign-policy plans and those of Barack Obama last night, this should clear it up. This is the advice he’s getting from the Republican Party foreign-policy elite, which remains largely composed of neoconservatives.
“They clearly realise that, their own preferences notwithstanding, most American voters are not interested in a more confrontational foreign policy that runs the risk of entangling America in further conflict in the Middle East. So they’re dialing it down for the remainder of the campaign. …
“Does this indicate that Mr Romney would, as president, be less confrontational abroad than he sounded in his campaign for the Republican nomination? If he continues to follow Bill Kristol’s advice on foreign policy most of the time, I doubt it. We know what Mr Kristol’s foreign policy looks like. On Iran: ‘It’s long since been time for the United States to speak to this regime in the language it understands—force.’ On Syria: ‘(T)he United States — working with European allies, Turkey, and other regional partners—should advance a new strategy that uses combined airpower to impose a safe zone in northern Syria.’ On Afghanistan: ‘(T)o say we’re ending our war on schedule means we’re not fighting our war to win.’
“[War] is the neoconservative foreign-policy prescription. It hasn’t changed just because they’ve recognised that their candidate needs to appear conciliatory and say the word ‘peace’ a lot in order to get elected.”
http://www.economist.com/blogs.....icy-debate
Roger Rabbit Commentary: In short, Romney is deceiving voters about what his foreign policy will be, because the neocons whose tune he dances to told him to, because they know voters won’t vote for their agenda of belligerency and armed conflict.
Pretending to be something other than what you are is an electioneering tactic the GOP has adopted across the board — from Romney to Rob McKenna to Suzie Hutchinson. Have you noticed that GOP candidates’ yard signs consistently display their party affiliation inconspicuously or not at all? That’s how toxic the GOP brand has become, and not just because of Dubya, but because they’re ALL crazy, reckless, and irresponsible.

It’s a union, idiot.
The fiduciary duty of a union is to represent its members. In this case, teachers, dimwit.
Just like the UAW has its foremost concern auto workers; they’re only indirectly responsible for the quality of any of Willard’s several Cadillacs.
Similarly, the quality of education is the primary responsibility of the school board and school system. However, and like the UAW or any other union, organized workers getting a fair deal and having a voice in their workplace create a better product.
So, the teachers’ union is primarily responsible for giving a united voice to teachers, and indirectly, promote better education of children.
Morons like you will continue to either willfully NOT understanding that distinction, or are too stupid to do so.

Of all Ohio polls from September 7 to September 19, Obama held an average lead of 4.2 points, with a Democratic party-ID advantage of 5.7 points. Today Obama leads by 2.1 points, with a party-ID advantage of 6.3 points. 66, normally I cannot stand Christie, but on this one, he is doing what a Governor should be. I mean, right now is not the time for politics. Governor Cuomo and Mayor Bloomberg had a tough call to make, and that was when to pull the plug on the MTA, as an abrupt shutdown is not the way to go. THey had to make the call by this morning to start the orderly shutdown by the evening. Remember, the NYC Subway runs 24-7 on most of it’s lines, carries several million people a day.
I agree though, Lugar, Murkowski, Castle, are the name of a few Republican Moderates that lost primaries(but Murkowski made it in the primary). Lincoln Chafee’s father, Sen. John Chaffee was a great man, now, just like his son, would be too moderate for the GOP. In 2006, then Republican Senator, now Independent Governor, Lincoln Chafee barely survived the primary and lost the general election.

In the current tracking poll, Gallup finds that the 10-point advantage for Democrats has now turned into a 1-point Republican advantage. And just in like 2008, that 1-point advantage increases when independents are asked which party they typically lean to, with 49 percent identifying as Republicans and 46 percent as Democrats. That number backs up the trends in other polling showing Romney leading among independents by large margins.

Not the best week for ‘What did the president know and when did he know it?’ questions, Lib Sci.
The incumbent president has a credibility gap.
The phenomenon of a credibility gap dates to the Vietnam War and the presidency of Lyndon Johnson. The charge then was that LBJ wasn’t leveling with the American people or Congress about Vietnam. The credibility gap was hardly the only thing that caused LBJ to withdraw from the 1968 election, but it eroded support for his presidency.

If you’re Obama, that is.
No Time for Fascists spews:
And when he does, the state government turns to the federal government for help.
And yet, the man you support says this
So, in the future, christie better not come to the federal government for assistance, cause there won’t be any federal government there to fall back on.
Or maybe that will only apply to democratic states, republicans will still aid republican states.
Maybe the states can pay insurance to a private firm who will help for a profit. That works so well in the health care industry. Death panels for state aid anyone?

Fascist fool,
You make the great argument for conservatives… If you want higher taxes per Obummer, be a good Obummer lemming libtard, send him a check and pay your additional required fair share!

1. You morph from Christie acting like a governor should act to some sort of a slam on Romney because of his position on the federalism of disaster response?
2. Check out how Obama handles disaster and and FEMA funding in a sequestration scenario.
3. Why might Romney want states controlling disaster relief funding?
…The Federal Emergency Management Agency ruled that the area did not meet the criteria for aid despite significant damage to scores of homes and other properties in Washington, Carter and Unicoi counties.

1. Yup. Just pointing out if romney gets his way, christie won’t be able to call on the federal government any more to keep his people safe. (your words)
2. sequestration scenario = If the republicans were not obstructionist, we wouldn’t have a sequestration scenario scenario. What do you expect from a party who would crash the economy and the government just to get back into power.
3. Typical republican talking point. Because something happened that they don’t like, the whole thing was a failure. bush failed to stop 9-11 but I don’t hear you advocating getting rid of the republican party.
You failed to mention the fact that “There was an $8.5 million threshold for the area to qualify for federal dollars to help residents rebuild what raging flood water swept away or destroyed”. The stated awarded only $0.3 mill to the area. So while I get the people are upset they didn’t get federal aid, it was a state issue they could and did handle. Wait….you are upset that that federal government let the STATE pay for something? What kind of Republican are you?

Puddy wondered why dunceman hasn’t posted any new Scott Brown Lieahantas/Fauxcohantas polls… braying like an ekim stuck goat… From the leftist Boston Globe…
Now we see why!
Puddybud spews:
What a crock from the fascist fool… Remember Bowles Simpson? Obummer wouldn’t be in this position if he had done what that commission said! Remember Obummer is the preznit not Romney. Can’t compare the two here!

Minnesota probably isn’t going the way Obama wants it to be going. Bill Clinton will try to minimize the onslaught by visiting tomorrow.
In which state is Romney sweeping newspaper endorsements? MANY UPDATES
UPDATE: Star Tribune in Minneapolis/St. Paul today endorses Obama. That brings the tally of endorsements in MN to 24 for Romney, one for Obama.
