@2 Maybe you should pull your head out of your ass long enough to come down to Montlake some Tuesday evening to see for yourself if the HA crowd is “a bunch of lemmings.”

But I’m not going to let you off that easily, because that’s a truly ignorant dumbfuck comment.

We Democrats don’t have a choice because we’re stuck with a two-party system, not because we’re “a bunch of lemmings.” It’s not us, it’s the system, stupid!

I’m not saying there isn’t a lot of vacuity among the electorate. All I’m saying is it’s all on your side. We Democrats are a diverse lot. See one Republican, and you’ve seen ’em all.

Back in ’08, we “lemmings” didn’t fall for John Edwards. We started out with 10 candidates, and when it finally came down to 2, we fought like hell over whether it would be Obama or Hillary. This year, Democrats have no choice at all — because of how the system works.

Republicans are now getting their own taste of the system. This year, they too started out with 10 candidates and they’re basically down to 2, and very soon they’re going to find out they can nominate anyone they like as long as his name is Mitt Romney. In other words, it doesn’t make a damn bit of difference whether you’re a Democrat or a Lemming, either way you have no fucking choice! It’s the system, stupid!

And once you elect someone president, you’re stuck with hin for eight years (except in exceptional circumstances, in which case you’re still stuck with him for a minimum of four years, unless he dies) — even if he breaks every one of his campaign promises, gets blowjobs under the desk at work, starts a war against the wrong country, or runs the economy into the ground. He can put Alan Greenspan in charge of the Federal Reserve, Donald Rumsfeld in charge of the Pentagon, and Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court — and there isn’t a damn thing anybody can do about it.

Personally, I think we should consider scrapping this system and doing what every other democracy does — have a Parliament instead of a useless Congress, and a Prime Minister we can get rid of next weekend with a no-confidence vote if we want to — plus a dozen different political parties, one in a flavor to suit every taste. It works better than this Rube Goldberg contraption the Framers inflicted on us.

As for you, if you think Democrats are “lemmings,” you’ve never been to a Democratic caucus or precinct meeting. (Lucky you!)

    You’re dumber than a brick.

@4 “fools, lemmings like you have made the system what it is…..hope you sleep well knowing that.”

The guys who made the system what it is have been dead for 200 years. I had nothing to do with it.

“Ds and Rs are all crooks of the same color, just with a different title.”

I like our crooks better than your crooks.

“but hey, you all keep voting them in…hows that worked so far?”

If you’re talking about Republicans, we didn’t vote them in, and that doesn’t work at all. If you’re talking about Democrats, the ones we voted in leave a lot to be desired, but the worst Democrat is still better than the best Republican.

“fools…all of you…not an independent thinking person amongst ya.”

Yeah, we’re just a bunch of “fools” with Ph.D.s, M.D.s, law degrees, and whatnot, employed as professors, doctors, medical researchers, attorneys, administrators, etc., who can’t think for ourselves. Or anyway, it looks that way to a troll with the IQ of an eggplant.

“save your bullshit for someone else”

I’m not going anywhere. Are you? Don’t let the door hit your ass on your way out.

““hope and change”…LMFAO…and you all bought that BS..hook, line, and sinker.”

No, things aren’t great, but if you guys were running the country we’d be in a Great Depression now. And bogged down in another bloody war in Iran. Things could be much worse — what if Republicans had won in 2008?

A federal court is blocking some of the budget cuts

Washington state made to a social services program for the disabled, threatening to force millions of dollars in renewed spending.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals said in its ruling released Friday that the regulations put disabled residents at risk of institutionalization. Judges issued a preliminary injunction that currently impacts a handful of people involved in the case, but state officials are concerned that it could eventually be extended to the 45,000 beneficiaries of the program.
“It’s a great deal of concern because of the cost associated with providing these increased services,” said Edward Dee, a state assistant attorney general. The reductions save a few million dollars each month.
State officials are appealing the ruling.

Boy, couldn’t have seen that coming from a mile away. The state of Washington has had it’s ass handed to it in court in regards to the funding of programs for and treatment of the developmentally disabled time and time again. They’re going to appeal this ruling and they’re going to lose again. We’ve been through this one before.

There’s a movement afoot to amend the Constitution to declare corporations are “nonpersons.”

    http://thehill.com/blogs/floor.....ent-rights

I would go the other route. I would amend the Constitution to clarify that corporations are indeed “persons,” thus enshrining in our basic charter the corrections of Citizens United.

This means that not only could corporations give money to political campaigns like the rest of us (i.e., $1,500 per person), but they could also vote (i.e., each corporation having 1 vote, like the rest of us).

There are, of course, some other ramifications. For example, as “persons,” corporations could not twinkle in and out of existence like virtual particles or a string of cheap Chinese-manufactured Christmas tree lights. No more running off to bankruptcy court to temporarily become “nonpersons” for the purpose of wriggling out of their union contracts and pension obligations. They would be treated like all other persons when it comes to being held responsible for their promises, debts, and obligations. The only way they could become “nonpersons” would be the same way the rest of us do — by suffering permanent and irreversible death, meaning total liquidation of their corporate being and distribution of their assets to heirs designated by testamentary law (but only after all the debts, bills, liabilities, creditors, and claimants are paid).

  35. 35

    Roger Rabbit spews:

    Saturday, 12/17/11 at 1:04 pm

This horseshit about being “persons” for the purpose of spending the shareholders’ money on rightwing political causes and candidates, but being “nonpersons” for the purpose of not paying what they owe to employees, pensioners, customers, bondholders, shareholders, and creditors, has to stop. They can’t have it both ways. They either exist of they don’t exist. It’s gotta be one or the other.

funny how the same pattern of drugs and crime seems to follow the OWSers around, wouldnt you say?

No. The drugs and crime didn’t follow the OWS’ers to Olympia or Seattle, they were already there. Drug use/abuse is rampant in our society across all sections. What varies is the kind of drugs people use.

As I already noted. I lived in the capitol neighborhood for about a year and it was commonplace to see homeless people. We had homeless encampments in the woods around the neighborhood. Homeless people tend to be drunks and addicts.

What the OWS’ers didn’t do is shun the street people who used street drugs or lie about it and try to deny homeless people exist. Why it would be surprising to someone or shocking that street people use street drugs I do not know.

By welcoming in street people the OWS’ers probably concentrated what petty crime was already going on into a smaller area.

The OWS’ers were also probably being a bit naive and overly idealistic.

We have this weird idea in our society that only certain people or certain places use illegal drugs. It’s nonsense. According to most people’s view, a place like Gig Harbor’s supposed to be free of that sort of thing while a place like Tacoma’s supposed to be full of illegal drugs. But, as a teenager in Gig Harbor I saw way more drugs (you could get contact highs just sitting in classes at Gig Harbor High) than my friends that grew up in cities did.

Nowadays, I routinely see cars weaving heavily as they leave the Tides Tavern and the other bars around town. Is getting shit-faced on beer really better or different than smoking weed? And wouldn’t it be better if people who wanted to go out and get shit faced on beer lived in walkable neighborhoods where they could just walk to a bar instead of driving?

    Eesh… This is awful.

PONTIAC, Ill. (AP) — A burst of gunfire sent Annelise Fiedler running out of her home to see what the noise was. In the yard next door, she saw 30-year-old Sara McMeen hovering over her baby as if she had dropped her. Fiedler asked McMeen if everything was all right.
“She looked at me and said, ‘No, everything is not all right,'” Fiedler told The Associated Press.
Then, Fiedler said, McMeen shot the baby. Fiedler fled for her life.
While authorities in the small Illinois farming community remained tight-lipped Saturday about the details of what they said was a murder-suicide that left five people dead, neighbors described shocking violence that took place outside, in full view of their homes. Some could see two of the children’s bodies from their windows.
The dead included McMeen, her 29-year-old live-in boyfriend, Daniel Warren, and her three children, 8-year-old Skyler Lemke, 7-year-old Ian Lemke and 10-month-old Maggie Warren, authorities said.

Over the years, I’ve represented many people who doctors have diagnosed with fibromyalgia. As a Scandinavian, I tend toward discarding pain complaints. But, I believe fibromyalgia is a real condition. I also believe certain doctors tend to slap that diagnosis on certain people (generally, women over 40 with other troubles in their lives) who they don’t know what else to do with. So, the docs prescribe meds. I don’t much like or trust doctors, and I know most of them hate lawyers. So, I haven’t seen one for years.

Southhaven, Mississippi Mayor Greg Davis spent $67 at Priape, known as “Canada’s premiere gay lifestyle store and sex shop.”

Davis declined to comment on the expenses, saying his attorney had told him not to talk.

“I can’t say anything,” Davis told the AP on Friday.

The 45-year-old mayor told The Commercial Appeal he doesn’t remember what he bought at the sex shop, which he visited on a recruitment trip with warehouse developers.

Davis, who divorced this year, told The Commercial Appeal on Thursday that he is gay. It was the first time he had said so publicly.

But what prompted Davis to come out was misuse of taxpayer funds. He ran for Congress in 2009 on a conservative, family values platform.

I wonder if we have any Republicans here who are hypocrites and gay themselves. Michelle Bachmann is a moron for believing her flaming husband. What a joke of a party.

There are too many vids online showing IDF troopers sniping Palestinian farmers in their fields and tying little Palestinian kids to the outside of their trucks when they drive through Gaza. Or doing shit like responding to thrown rocks with hellfire missiles to take them too seriously where any “peace process” is concerned.

Israel cannot last the way its doing it business now. Remember, Palestinians are Semitic people too.

It occurs to me that if you were to somehow eliminate religion, that would go a very long way to helping those folks learn to get along.

Spuddy, linking to the Media Research Center, a very well established neofascist propaganda operation, doesn’t help any of your augments. Michael

look who’s running for president under the DUMMOCRAPT banner

I have been to Europe and Asia many times this year. We are not held in high esteem no matter what the leftist papers write. While they hated Bush for his “cowboy” mentality (their words), they respected Bush because he knew power speaks to terrorists. They laugh at ObamAA+

To Iran: “Can we please have our spy plane back? Pretty please?”

Bush would have went in and blown it up.

So now we have our stealth helicopter and our best drone technology in the enemy’s hands. Great job ObamAA+

    @109

So you’re not going to address anything that I actually wrote then. Not surprising, you never do. Obama’s not the point. The left’s not the point. The point is that the people and things you’ve been pushing are dying out. Recall in WI. You got shot down in OH. It’s looking like the most moderate of the Republicans will be the last ones standing in the presidential race. Let’s talk about how those who adhere to you ideology are losing their grasp on power. Let’s face it Puddy, your folks are toast.

My folks are the working class eco-left. We were sold-out and dry fucked before we even got started. It’s not like I give a fuck about Obama or Ms. Nancy, they’re just the least bad choice in a binary system, so you might as well shut up about it. But, you my friend had high hopes and now they’re crashing.

    Glenn Back vindicated

looks like Glenn Beck is correct.

    Glenn Beck called it again

Glenn Beck called this long ago

    Glenn Beck is RIGHT AGAIN

    Glenn Beck was right

Once again Glenn Beck is right.

If you listened to Glenn Beck you’d learn a thing or two.

    truths from Glenn Beck

Regarding Glenn Beck… his predictions of 2006-2007 have come true

You should download yesterday’s Glenn Beck show.

North Korea’s ‘Dear Leader’ Drops Dead

North Korea’s nominal leader, Kim Sung Il, died of heart failure yesterday. I say “nominal” because NK’s military controls that country, and they allowed Kim to rule as long as he went along with what they wanted. His death was announced tonight by government sources.

Asian stock markets fell on news of Kim’s death on expectations of heightened instability on the Korean peninsula — North Korea is now nominally led by a 27-year-old kid — possibly presaging a decline in domestic stocks tomorrow morning, which is fine with me because I want stocks to get cheaper while I have cash to invest.

    Poor poor Michael,

All of the Republican people running for president are being vetted because the leftist media:

    1) Hates Republicans
    2) Plays any attacks as internal infighting
    3) realizes now their slobbering jock strapping of ObamAA+ has put this country into real trouble.
    4) Realized our world standing is actually worse overseas than it ever was under Bush.
    5) Realize if the US fails all economies fail. Leftist media are then out of a job. We are back into the early 1900s Michael. That’s where you leftists want us to be. A non-super power.

Regarding Scott Walker, he’s gone too fast. But he was trying to overcome 10 previous years of structural deficits in a single year. When you read the Green Bay Gazette they mention the budget problem left by the previous DUMMOCRAPT governor had to be fixed. Scott went too fast but he felt it had to be done.

“Finally, after a 10-year trek through the desert of a debt-laden budget, we walk out of here with no debt,” Ellis said Friday.

Nonpartisan observers say Ellis is right: The state budget that Gov. Scott Walker is poised to sign is balanced, leaving the next Legislature with a surplus instead of a massive hole to fill.

    And there’s another FACT:

If you have a big government progressive, or a big government progressive in Obama, one in Newt Gingrich, one in Obama, ask yourself this, Tea Party: is it about Obama’s race? Because that’s what it appears to be to me. If you’re against him but you’re for this guy, it must be about race.

Remember who wrote that speech Puddybud? Remember that FACT???

David Frum wrote that speech Puddybud. Why is he saying such bad things about Republiccans these days?

    Is he right?

Look what he says about Cass Sunstein:

Bottom line: For those who champion free competitive markets, Cass Sunstein is about the best possible choice to be hoped for from a Democratic administration.

I arrive at this opinion through first hand knowledge. I studied in one of Cass Sunstein’s seminars at Harvard Law School, and witnessed for two hours per week the fair play of his mind. But it’s not only my opinion. It’s the opinion of: Chris DeMuth, past president of the American Enterprise Institute; of the Wall Street Journal editorial page; and of the editors of Cato’s Regulation magazine. And while Republican-appointed judges like Chief Justice John Roberts and Court of Appeals Judge Michael McConnell cannot properly express a view, I’d wager dollars-to-doughnuts they too support Sunstein: after all, he endorsed both of them.
