DLBottleHey…it’s TACO Tuesday. And that means the Seattle Chapter of Drinking Liberally will get together to discuss politics and whatnot over a drink.

We meet tonight and every Tuesday at the Roanoke Park Place Tavern, 2409 10th Ave E, Seattle. You’ll find us in the back room of the pub or, more likely, out on the back patio. We start at 8:00pm.

Chapters of Living Liberally are all over the place…if you can’t make it to the Seattle chapter, stop by another chapter near you.

    The US Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said Tuesday that they were rescinding 2022 federal guidance to health care providers specifying that people should be able to access an abortion in the event of a medical emergency, even if state laws restrict such procedures.

    Republican policy is to let ’em die. However, there’s a way for women in red states to protect themselves: They can’t get pregnant if they don’t have sex. If this is going to be the policy, they should tell the Republican men in their lives to go fuck themselves or each other.

    Joe Walsh is switching parties:

    Joe Walsh, a former Republican member of Congress, said Tuesday he is becoming a Democrat …. because he views the Republican Party as a threat to democracy and the rule of law and thinks defeating the GOP requires “a broad coalition of moderates, progressives, and, yes, even conservatives.”

    “Three words I never thought I’d ever utter: I’m a Democrat. This former Republican Congressman, former Republican candidate for President, this former TEA Party champion is formally joining the Democratic Party. The stakes are simply too high to NOT become a Democrat,” Walsh wrote in his Substack post, before outlining his reasoning.

    Note he’s still a conservative. A conservative Democrat. This is your cue, Doctor Dumbfuck. You should become a Democrat, too, because even though you don’t care about other people’s liberty, you should care about your own. If you think a Republican dictatorship will serve you, you’re mistaken; they will only serve themselves at your expense.

    WTF? What does this mean? If Hegseth is deputizing DoD employees to be ICE agents, does he have authority to do that? I seriously doubt it. Looks more like he’s telling them, “Go ye forth and be border vigilantes.” Which, in Texas, is a good way for them to get shot. I mean, masked men without badges, uniforms, or LE authority grabbing people on the streets in Texas …

    I suppose you’ve seen that Hegseth has ordered the Navy to rename the USNS Harvey Milk. But that’s not the whole story. Other names to be stricken from Navy vessels include:

    USNS Thurgood Marshall, USNS Ruth Bader Ginsburg, USNS Harriet Tubman, USNS Dolores Huerta, USNS Lucy Stone, USNS Cesar Chavez and USNS Medgar Evers.

    P.S., If the administration has money for this — and renaming military bases and navy ships creates a lot of inconvenience and costs a lot of money — don’t believe them when they claim we can’t afford school lunches or child care.

    In other words, if you try to eat we’ll kill you, because our policy is genocide through mass starvation.

    If Israel had the slightest interest in Gazans being fed they easily could, and would, provide security along these roads so Gazans could reach the food distribution centers.

    The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office decided not to prosecute a Glendale police officer who shot and killed an unarmed man while responding to a call that wasn’t about him.

    Dillon Siebeck, 46, was killed on Jan. 8 when officers mistakenly thought he was connected with a domestic violence call, according to the Peoria Police Department, which investigated the shooting.

    The victim was sitting on a park bench minding his own business when the trigger-happy cop drilled him.

    But a 24-year-old named Keishan Scott just won a special election For a South Carolina state house seat, by 40 points. Harris won the district by five.

    Yeah, yeah yeah special election low turnout very little chance of Republicans taking seat but still. Dude’s 24 he’s gonna be around in South Carolina politics and potentially national politics for a long time.

    It’s going on all over the place all the time. There are no local or national law enforcement efforts to monitor it or respond in anything other than a piecemeal and reactive capacity, often after terrible things have already happened.

    And now the Republican Party is moving rapidly to align themselves with these terrorists.
