Ok, so how about a fund also be set up where so some of the profits go towards the taxpayers, paying coaches salaries and stadiums and training facilities? Why am I paying CBS, indirectly, 8.8 billion. Meaning I pitch into a system, a lucrative money making system that can afford it, that benefits everyone but me the taxpayer. Or open up the training facilities and arena to the public for use, and as recreation centers for the youth.
Setup a fund to help out the people that allow this money making machine to even have any chance of being a money making machine. And if the taxpayer isn’t the foundation of this then why does 1 penny of taxpayers money go into it paying for salaries and fields and buildings. Where is the benefit on taxpayer “investment”. This is what is wrong with the American system, when people can overlook the basics.

Former SecDef Gates, writing about Biden & Co:
“I think he has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades,” Gates writes, according to a New York Times review of the book posted Tuesday.
While the White House was quick to stick up for Biden, officials have not yet weighed in on some of the more serious claims made against the president and his first-term secretary of state, Hillary Clinton. Gates contends that Clinton and Obama both freely admitted that their opposition to the 2007 surge in Iraq was driven by political considerations.

“I found him an admirable and amiable man. But he was past the point where he was willing to entertain a ‘good idea.’ He didn’t want to hear more; he wanted our forces out of Iraq. Whatever path led there fastest, he favored,” Mattis writes. “He exuded the confidence of a man whose mind was made up, perhaps even indifferent to considering the consequences were he judging the situation incorrectly.”
Biden reassured Mattis that Maliki wouldn’t eject all American troops from the country.
“Maliki wants us to stick around, because he does not see a future in Iraq otherwise,” Biden said. “I’ll bet you my vice presidency.”
Mattis doesn’t say whether he tried to collect on that bet. As he writes, “In October 2011, Prime Minister Maliki and President Obama agreed that all U.S. forces would leave at the end of the year.”

The dynamics have changed so much that states voting after Super Tuesday are suddenly taking on new prominence.
Looking at the possibility of a still-contested nomination even after Super Tuesday’s massive delegate allocation on March 3, Washington state Democratic Party chair Tina Podlodowski said mid-March will “probably matter more than ever before.”
One strategist working with a presidential candidate said, “We’ve never had a situation where we get past Super Tuesday and there’s still five people in the field,” predicting that possibility this year.

U Conn athletics generated $40 million in total revenues last year against expenses of $80 million, with about $30 million of the difference coming from the state.
I’d agree U Conn has a problem, having decided to pour money into football in order to rapidly advance out of 1-AA into 1-FBS against a stadium capacity of 40,000 and a main campus enrollment of under 20,000. It is not sustainable.
But U Conn is probably the worst example in the US. They’re a lacrosse school trying to compete with Alabama for athletes, coaches, and media licenses. They’ll be back down to 1-AA by the end of the decade if not sooner. The President should be fired and half the trustees should be replaced. But it’s not right to blame 20 year old kids for these people’s stupidity and hubris. There are jobs waiting for those coaches at other larger, better operated schools. And scholarship slots waiting for those student-athletes too. The world at large doesn’t give a shit if the UConn Huskies appear in a snack food branded bowl game.
And to be clear, I have no problem with cutting off public funding for all intercollegiate athletics at all public universities with immediate effect. As long as we simultaneously cut off all funding for every other publicly funded, non-academic activity. I’d personally like to see the NCAA Div 1 spun off into its own branded semi-professional league that pays licensing to the schools and leases the facilities. But what I object to is perpetuating a system where 18-year-old mostly low income and minority kids are pressed into serfdom for the entertainment of old wealthy white dudes. It’s gross.

You mentioned other large key battleground states. Your source merely quotes a Shy-Trumper Republican shill halfway between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. And he merely offers his hopes, dreams and fervent prayers to offset the alarming statistics emerging from the suburbs that surround him.
So now you’re on record predicting Democrats will lose seats in Minnesota, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. I’d say you might be right about one of those five. As for the Electoral College, it’s your to lose, last I checked. But so far most of the numbers I’ve seen show you well on track to do just that. And pinning your strategy on West Virginia will not help you any more than trading Wisconsin and Minnesota for North Carolina and Arizona would. Nor will arguing that attitudes about sexual assault held by older white voters in the rust belt will rub off on their better educated kids.
Elijah Dominic McDotcom spews:
34,
My sins? Mine? Or for that matter any one of us on these threads who voted for Clinton in 2016?
Just like every single other Republican you listened to that tape back in October of 2016. And then you dutifully listened to your candidate’s admission.
And you cast your vote for him anyway.
I don’t know, and I can’t say for sure which option you or any of your fellow Trump voters chose. Whether you decided that he was lying to a bunch of nobodies when he boasted about a cavalier history of sexual assaults, or whether you decided that he was telling the truth.
But in your case, I can say that your post history makes a pretty strong case that you chose to vote for a rapist rather than a sick fantasist. You come across daily as exactly the kind of man who thinks a woman should “just get a better sense of humor” and “maybe don’t dress that way if you don’t like the attention”. I’m absolutely willing to bet that you decided it was okay if a guy who had sexually assaulted “a few hot babes” became President. And it’s quite clear you stand by that each and every day.
“Very rapey. And totally cool.”
And the rapes are just the very tippy top of the huge fucking lube covered orange shit-stained Trump ice berg you sailed yourself into. Let us not forget the porn stars. And paying off the porn stars. And paying them off with stolen money. And then structuring the payments to conceal their illegal sourcing. And colluding with Russians to fuck with the election by stealing confidential emails and leaking them in the media. And soliciting bribes from foreign governments. And openly acting to obstruct. And on. And on.
You have backed it all. 100%. Which makes all these sins your sins. Democrats don’t have to outrun your imaginary Grizzly straw men. We just have to outrun you. And that’s looking pretty good now that you’ve dropped your pants around your ankles and smeared your ass with bacon grease.

But at least before you went after Sandmann you went after his parents. For, um, teaching him to tell his friends to knock it off when some of them were being a bit obnoxious in responding to the Black Hebrew Israelites and for, um, teaching him to stand his ground when he had done nothing wrong.

Roger Rabbit spews:
@46 Of course that comment’s inappropriate. There’s stupid people on both sides, although way more on your side, where everyone is stupid or so it seems.
But no equivalency to my comment in the preceding thread about the kids shot in Milwaukee. I definitely am not joking when I mock your tribe’s position on gun control — i.e., there shouldn’t be any, and even bozos like the guy who shot those kids should be allowed to have guns.
Beyond that I think @86 of preceding thread sufficiently replied to your @84 of preceding thread and I don’t really need to add to what he said.
On second thought, I’ll add this: By supporting Republicans and their gun policies, you’re more responsible for those kids getting shot than I am. Your responsibility may be tiny but it’s still more than mine.
As for where fault lies in the South Carolina hunting tragedy, obviously the hunter who fired the shots didn’t exercise enough caution, especially as the victims were members of his own hunting party so he knew they were nearby yet fired without knowing where they were or being sure of what he was shooting at; but full apportionment of blame awaits final results of the law enforcement investigation and in particular: “A spokesman said more information, such as whether the father and daughter were wearing high-vis safety gear, will not be revealed until the probe is concluded.” If they were, it’s hard to see how the shooter could mistake them for deer; if they weren’t the dad is at least partly responsible for what happened. Another question: Since two people were killed, the shooter must have fired at least twice, and why is he shooting at two deer? Aren’t you only allowed one? Or did more than one hunter open fire? Some unanswered questions here, and reasonable people will withhold judgment until they know the facts (note I didn’t comment on this incident), but Doctor Dumbfuck isn’t reasonable, he’s hellbent on trolling this tragedy for all he’s worth. So back at ya with that POS business, dude. The POS is you.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@52 “the … interpretation that CNN got sued for”
And MAGA Teen and his lawyers got how much from CNN for claiming he was defamed by a news organization’s “interpretation”?
Read up on the First Amendment sometime. News outlets don’t have to be perfect in their reporting. They’re allowed to make mistakes. There has to be a malicious or reckless falsehood to make it actionable. Ask an actual lawyer (i.e, not yourself) to explain this to you sometime.

You just made it up when you posted ” Ganging up on a high school boy” you had nothing to pin that on. You just neeeeeded it. So you made it up. Just like your president. Pathetic.
And you can’t say you haven’t been warned. Repeatedly. We’ve told you again and again that if you defend lies they will consume you. Arguing over and over to normalize absurdly obvious lies takes an irreversible toll. You can’t help yourself anymore. It’s who you are now.
And it’s Every Republican You Know.

Hmm.
“her”
“POS”
“no thought to the loss of human life in her effort to score a cheap point.”
Doctor Dumbfuck is talking about herself again. And finding fault! Such a breakthrough! Electroshock therapy must be helping.
She left out her pink panties, though. Serious omission.
Steve spews:
“Your speed reading has failed you. Not unlike how it failed so many of your patients.”
I’m going to have to stick up for the doctor on this one. No way Doctor Dumbfuck would ever stop trading options just to read what the minimum wage radiologist in India sends him. He just passes it through. “Whatever. Back to trading. Shit! Goddamned that GE! I should have shorted it when Roger told me to. Hmm, let’s see how my Varian puts are doing. Maybe I’ll feel a little better.”
Steve spews:
“Beyond that I think @86 of preceding thread sufficiently replied to your @84 of preceding thread and I don’t really need to add to what he said.”
Did you ever see that post of his where he shared his vision of an America with militias patrolling the streets of America’s cities?
I mean, good grief! Before he became a treasonous fascist asswipe spreading Putin’s talking points, the doctor’s stock in trade here at HA was mocking the deaths of black males, becoming especially vile when it came to the deaths of black male adolescents. “Tamir had it coming to him!” “Travon had it coming to him!”
Growing up on the streets of the Seattle CD and Rainier Valley, I’ve seen plenty of white kids being beat up and bullied by black kids. The white kids always had it coming to them for being prissy bitches like Doctor Dumbfuck. Point is, they never get over it, hating on every black male they encounter for the rest of their miserable fucking lives.

@53 “If CNN had responsible, accountable, trustworthy adults on the air and in the producers’ chairs, it wouldn’t be getting sued.”
Merely “getting sued” doesn’t count; anyone with a grievance, real or imagined, can sue. You judge the merits of a lawsuit by how much the defendant paid the plaintiff. No merit -> no payment.
How much did CNN pay MAGA Teen?
Roger Rabbit spews:
@59 C’mon now, any white nationalist viewing that video will conclude those 5 black guys ganged up on those 200 or so white teenagers behaving like gorillas (to make a racist statement of sorts?) Blacks aren’t supposed to stand their ground; that’s a white privilege.
Just ask Doctor Dumbfuck, he’ll set you straight on that.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@62 “Goddamned that GE! I should have shorted it when Roger told me to.”
Yeah, he’s having the hardest time getting over that one. Always does when I’m right and he’s wrong, which is pretty much always. That’s why he harps so long and hard about anything I’ve ever said that he thinks was a mistake; my errors are few and far between, leaving him with little to choose and no certainty about whether he’ll get another chance.

Roger Rabbit Commentary: What Trump has wrought. This shows why Republican voters fucked up by electing a novice. The White House isn’t an entry-level job.

@22
UConn isn’t really just an exception…..they are more like the rule.
Colleges and Universities aren’t profiting bigly….the NCAA yes.
What about private institutions that may get Federal or State or Public money? I’m asking. Are all Private institutions devoid of taxpayer money? Devoid in the sense that the money goes into the coffers of the administrative running of the institution? Or even indirectly to students of these private institutions. A yes or no will do as an answer.
Also, disproportionately, are the sports programs more of the problem than with other non-academic activities. Are their even losses there in the other non-academic activities. That would be unfair if they actually pay for themselves thru tuition fees or other fee related to that non-academic activity. Many low income and minority kids partake in those non-academic activities.
I’d go even further. Divorce the sports from the Institutions, and have all sports and education of these athletes done by them.
I don’t disagree with you that they are being exploited to reach a dream of being a pro one day. That’s why I think they should focus their attention on academics and become something more meaningful to society other than be entertainers lured by the big money. What’s wrong with being a smart doctor, lawyer, engineer, business person that this Country problem needs, more than just being professional sports players.
I think the commercialization of sports has tarnished this Nations ability to appreciate a real job.

@67 Anybody can be a Democrat, but not everybody can be a Republican. Being a Republican requires a combination of stupidity, ignorance, gullibility, and venality that’s beyond the reach of a majority of us. That’s why the GOP will always be a minority party.*
* Not to be confused with a party of minorities.

A Ukraine Airlines Boeing 737 flight from Tehran to Kiev has crashed after taking off, killing all aboard. Most were Iranians, according to Iran state media, which attributed the accident to “technical problems.” First reports are not suggesting foul play was involved.
