Freshman Rep. Jamie Herrera Beutler (R-WA-3) got a little attention today from the national press. And, um…it wasn’t exactly a profile in political courage.
The original story comes from The Columbian (my emphasis):
Who should be informed of the opportunity to meet with their elected officials? Who decides how that should happen? According to U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, she does.
[…]On Friday The Chronicle in Centralia received a phone call from Herrera Beutler staffer and Communications Director Casey Bowman informing the newspaper of the meeting. Bowman asked that a meeting announcement not be placed in the paper. However, he did invite the paper to cover the event.
The Chronicle refused his request and published an announcement in Saturday’s paper.
The reason for not publishing an advance notice of the meeting was the fear that people from outside the immediate area could come and “just yell” at the congresswoman “whatever’s on their minds,” Bowman said Friday.
Perhaps Herrera Beutler can get together with Rep. Dave Reichert (R-WA-8) and charter a G.O.P. Coward’s Club.

Hey Goldy…is there any way to filter out Darryl’s posts on this web page? It’s just hateful tripe without even clever literary style.
Thanks in advance.
Peace.

Roger Rabbit spews:
@1 Any reason why you can’t do the filtering yourself by not reading it? Are you so lazy you need someone else to choose reading material for you?
Roger Rabbit spews:
“‘Our focus is on giving everyone in Southwest Washington a chance to say what’s on their mind to their representative in Congress. Recently, we’ve stuck to phone calls to invite people — but we do not screen who we invite within a community. Period,’ he said.”
How is restricting announcement of a townhall to people the representative’s office chooses to call not screening?
Geoduck spews:
And you can bet she won’t be holding any kind of meetings at all up here in the Soviet of Olympia. I like living in this town, but god, I hate being stuck in a district with the knuckle-draggers who elected this woman.
MikeBoyScout spews:
This is just laughable.
How many kids are in your local school’s classroom?
How many constituents can this Republican grifter deal with a couple of times per year? 24!
Constituents of WA-03 should let Jaime know if she can’t stand the heat, she should get the F*ck out of the kitchen.
On the bright side, any WA-03 Democrat considering challenging this clown should be very happy with Jaime’s record of public stupidity.
MikeBoyScout spews:
It is surprising why Jaime didn’t want to reach out to her constituents to trumpet the success in righting the economy she has been a part of as a member of the House majority.
Remember when Jaime Herrera Beutler said
Together, we can spread the message that job creation and stopping the out-of-control federal spending are key to our region’s success.
How’s that job creation in WA-03 going?
The unemployment rate in the US is 9.1%.
Washington State’s unemployment rate is 9.0%.
In WA-03’s Clark County unemployment is at 10.4%.
In WA-03’s Cowlitz County unemployment is at 11.7%.
In WA-03’s Lewis County unemployment is at 13.1%.
In WA-03’s Pacific County unemployment is at 10.9%.
In WA-03’s Skamania County unemployment is at 11.1%.
In WA-03’s Thurston County unemployment is at 8.3% (lousy socialist show-offs!).
In WA-03’s Wahkiakum County unemployment is at 11.8%.
Yeah, that’s a bang-up job Jaimie’s doing.
Maybe instead of spreading Republican Glibertarian Bullshit, Jamie should measure if those policies are producing the jobs WA-03 needs. HINT: Thurston County.
rhp6033 spews:
Funny how in 2010 tea partiers abused the constituent meetings held by Democratic lawmakers, shouting down the Congressmen and any who spoke in support of health care reform. Then Republican Congressmen/women cut themselves off from any discussions at all except by those who are already their supporters.
Clearly, these “constituent meetings” are simply campaign rallys and fund-raisers, not real attempts to reach out to the constituents.

Linda Smith pulled the same thing back when she was elected in the 3rd. I guess something about the water in SW Wa brings out the crazies.

7, 8 – Republicans don’t believe in democracy. They want “our way or no way.”

In polarized America it’s hard to find consensus on anything, but surveys reveal that distrust of the financial system is nearly universal.

@2. Yes, no, and you don’t get any more questions. If I wanted any shit out of you I’d pinch your neck.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@12 Dishing out shit is what I do here. You’re welcome to pinch my neck, but expect teeth and claws in return. Wallowing in the HA cesspool is a voluntary activity on the part of all who partake of it. You’re free to leave at any time.
the umpire spews:
@6
Those counties you cited with high unemployment are also the same counties that have suffered under the progressives attack on the logging industry. Not hard to put 2 and 2 together, accept maybe for you.
the umpire spews:
@6
Dummy at 6 seems to think we can afford for everybody to be on the state payroll like thurston county. Moron.
Michael spews:
@14
One of my uncles is a retired gypo logger. When he started logging back in the 60’s he used a crew of 4 guys. When he retired he was logging by himself 50% of the time (the other 50% he had 1 guy working for him) and was taking more board feet of lumber out of the woods per day than when he started. That same sort of modernization took place in lumber mills as well. We’ve also upped raw log exports which cost mill workers their jobs.
The “progressives” didn’t take away anyone’s job.
MikeBoyScout spews:
@14 & 15 the umpire,
Well, before you go trumpeting the ease of summing 2+2 you might want to actually try it. :-)
First, all of the counties except one in WA-03 have a higher unemployment rate than both the US as a whole, and WA as a whole.
Second, which of the six counties with higher unemployment than the state and the nation are you asserting is due to “the progressives attack on the logging industry.“?
Third, I certainly do not think and was not implying “we can afford for everybody to be on the state payroll“.
Fourth, asswipe, everybody in Thurston County is not on the state payroll.
Fifth, dingleberry, the fastest growing community in Thurston County is not Olympia, but Yelm.
To make it clearer for you, as 2+2 appears to be higher order math to you, I was suggesting that the cowardly Congress woman from WA-03 stop pushing Republican Glibertarian Bullshit and actually evaluate why only one of the counties in her district is better on average than the state and the nation when it comes to jobs.
Michael spews:
@17
I did a little Googling and it looked like the big growth industry in Thurston County was the indian casinos.
Lewis County unemployment 1990-2010 listed here:

ButtPutty's fetid syphilitic brain spews:
Hey umpire @14, you fucking ignorant idiot, one satellite image is worth a 1000 words. The trees are going, going, gone. To have a viable logging industry, you need harvestable trees. Lots of them. And those counties are running out of them.
Lauramae spews:
Jaime is a gem for certain. She’s done such a wonderful job being a tea party toad. Look at what positive impact she’s had in the most economically depressed areas of her district! She should be beaming with well-deserved pride, or more like hiding her head in well-deserved shame. The tea party got everything it wanted and the economy is going into the toilet because of their shear asinine stupidity about the relationship to austerity and economy stranglehold. Apparently the tooth bleach went to her simple giant head.
MikeBoyScout spews:
@18 Michael,
Yes, teh Google gives the dweebs on Herrera Beutler’s incompetent staff an easy tool to see that the effects of the economic collapse caused by lax regulation and bankster crime have been far worse on most of WA-03 employment than the state or nation as a whole.
Entertainment, be it casinos or parks, for WA’s more prosperous region is clearly one reason Thurston is doing better.
Michael spews:
Oops!
Rujax! spews:
The emperor max-minidick conveniently “forgets” how the timber companies shipped RAW LOGS of of thiis country instead of milling them here. THAT’s where the timber jobs went.
Too bad emperor max-minidick and his “six-figure” income and his “big-time coinnections with union-busting multi-national corporations” can’t buy him a better memory or a new set of scruples.
MikeBoyScout spews:
@23. Rujax!,
To be fair, WA-03 is the only region in the entire state where logging is no longer viable. Pierce County is logging today just like it did in the 19th century. ;-)

Then his majesty sir asshat and his fellow scumbags will be partying it up with dirt bikes and budweiser.
MikeBoyScout spews:
Neither sustainable forestry nor clear cutting are going to bring economic prosperity to WA-03. The former helps. The later is a dead end.
Neither will dirty coal save the area.
There is a trend between what asswipe, umpire, and the teabagging idiots like Herrera Beutler often propose and what never works.
And there is a very strong correlation between the ‘liberal’ policies of Seattle and King County and its internationally renown success as a great place to live and do business.
