A rare Thursday thread. I am mostly not working, but maybe you are.
Wednesday Open Thread
We’re in the worst of all possible worlds regarding stand to the right. Most people at the underground light rail stations stand to the right on escalators. But! Enough people are standing 2 deep or just on the right that it’s ruining the whole thing. When I am in a hurry, I would like to be able to walk up them.
At least the Capitol Hill Station escalators work.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
Monday Open Thread
Is it snowing where you are? It snowed a bit in the Seattle urban core, but nothing stuck other than a bit on cars. Still, it’s nice to be able to walk in it last night. Hopefully, your commute isn’t bad.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And for God’s sake get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible. Get tested right before you see family or some other group of people over the holidays.
Friday
– Troubling but not surprising is a good way to describe the Troyer verdict. Probably better for a pastor to use than oh shit and no shit.
– Last chance for free COVID-19 tests from the Washington State government. Might as well get some. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
– I have maintained that Joe Kent is entitled to his recount and that it wasn’t going to change much. Well duh.
– Kevin McCarthy not being Speaker would be funny, but I imagine anyone else would be worse.
– Since Twitter has been made in its owner’s image: Everyone is talking about him, and it’s boring as hell, do you have a social media recommendation? I think I will probably just post longer open threads and maybe other posts if y’all can behave in them.
Wednesday, December 14. Open Thread.
– The waterfront needs a lot more connections to the rest of Seattle. So yeah, I dig the new waterfront bridge. Yippee skippy for infrastructure!
– I am not a college student, so this interview with Congresswoman elect Marie Gluesenkamp Perez wasn’t for me. But I thought it was interesting.
– Overall, I am very happy with extending the outdoor dining rules in Seattle. 2 annoyances as they are doing business in my neighborhood: This time of year, a lot of leaves are getting caught in the structures and making more of a mess than usual when it rains. The only thing is that they can get pretty noisy, including during weekdays. I hope that they decide to be better on their own.
– Anyway, please wash your hands right now and get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible. Goddam miracle and some of you are just ignoring it.
Monday Morning Open Thread
– What happens to salmon also happens to people.
– Fuck that algorithm. Rent is too high.
– Anyone going back to masks (first item)? I still wear a mask on public transportation.
– But it’s more important that you get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible. Get that shot before you see grandma over Christmas.
Friday Open Thread
It’s inconvenient, but it’s better that Metro take defective busses off the road than to risk an accident. Maybe I would think something else if it was one of my routes. I hope it gets resolved quickly.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now and get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
Wednesday Open Thread
Does anyone else feel like One Bus Away is less accurate lately? I don’t know. It seems like it has been giving me weird information lately. I got to a stop 5 minutes early the other day, and it just never came. I understand that will happen sometimes, but I would hope One Bus Away would tell me.
It’s still good most of the time. But I have been noticing more minor weirdness. It’s obviously easier to notice problems than to fix them.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And for goodness sake, for goodness sake, for goodness sake, get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
Monday Open Thread
– Did you all enjoy the snow over the weekend? We had very little Downtown, but it looked like quite a bit in Suburbia and in the South Sound.
– Congratulations to WSU on getting to the historic Jimmy Kimmel L.A. Bowl. Who could forget its storied past?
– I am get vaccinated guy, but also get vaccinated for the flu.
Friday Open Thread.
– Tax them capital gains. Collect the heck out of them.
– If you’re a woman, trans man, or NB who can get pregnant and you’re under 45, King County is recommending that you get screened for syphilis.
– Councilmember Sawant can call cops murderers to her heart’s content.
– Wash your damn hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted with the fucking miracle before you see your family at Christmas.
Wednesday Morning Open Thread…
– Good morning. I hope you aren’t too inconvenienced by the snow and wind. Nothing stuck in the urban core, but maybe where you are?
– If Joe Kent wants to waste his doner’s money on a recount, more power to him, I guess. It would have to be a much greater swing than the governor’s race in 2004, but with fewer voters.
– Bring them grizzly bears back to Washington.
Wash your hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
Monday Open Thread
Good morning. I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving, or if you don’t celebrate, long weekend, or if you had to work, a good time at work.
– It is bad to have dinner with a violent white supremacist, right?
– Ranked choice is coming to Seattle…eventually.
– Wash your hands right now. And I can’t believe it if aren’t vaccinated or boosted, but the good news is you can make an appointment today.
Wednesday Open Thread
– Seattle has a budget.
– My commute has changed a bit since late October. I now take the bus with a bunch of rowdy high school students. Man, I wish I had the free bus when I was a kid. How fabulous, great job everyone who made it happen.
– Hey, you. Wash your hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
Monday Open Thread
I saw Macbeth at Seattle Shakespeare over the weekend. Fantastic performances and staging. It was the final weekend, so this isn’t a review or anything like that.
It is me saying that I was very impressed with their mask policy. Obviously, get vaccinated or boosted is the thing that helps the most in saving lives from COVID-19. But with people in close quarters for a couple hours, masks are also important. And it was mandatory, and at the introduction, they said they would kick people out or stop the show if people weren’t masked.
They aren’t killing the little old ladies who make up their core audience. Don’t be absurd.
Friday!
New Coleman Dock, baby! I have walked or biked by it quite regularly, and it doesn’t look ready from the outside. But it’s very exciting. Maybe I can pop into it on my way home from work and take a look. It’s very exciting when new infrastructure opens up.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.
