Transit Facebook groups I am a part of, I asked if it were possible with 2 Line about to cross the Lake, push up the end of ST Express 550, due to be eliminated at the Fall Service change. Waste of Diesel on a route that will potentially see a big ridership drop over the ensuing 6 months. Besides the practical reasons, routes budgeted until September, driver assignments have already been put out to bid, and World Cup traffic, got a lot of defenders on the side of this redundant route, which was always a place holder for 2 Line. The old one seat ride won’t go away. Current plan is to reroute and upgrade 556, a Northgate-Issaquah ST Express route to handle local service on Bellevue Way, which should be Metro’s responsibility.

  18. Yesterday on my way home from work, saw a strange drilling rig in the curb lane of Queen Anne Ave between Republican and Harrison streets. Looked similar to one I saw on First, Capitol, and Beacon Hills 20+ years ago. Then it was for getting soil and core samples for the then potential tunnel routes. Possibly this was such work for the design phase of the Ballard LINK segment.
