Part about legal/illegal to film ICE, regular law enforcement hates it, but the weirdest case I ever had, was in a bus and a South Kitsap Fire EMT thought I was filming him and told me to stop.(I was scrolling on an app), I felt like reporting him to their higher ups, for dereliction of duty. The Bus Driver did not have the dispatcher call them to harass a passenger, he called them for a medical emergency. That particular bus I would not use the camera on anyway. I never do if the camera angle gets PSNS in the background. That day got to see Kitsap Transit’s customer service at least for Saturdays, near end of day, on the Port Orchard routes can do. The Supervisor with his vehicle took over the trip.(A loop serving the Ferry Terminal, Wal-Mart, Fred Meyer and back.,)

Watched Game 2 of the Fivalry with Vancouver. A reverse of the game about a week ago when the Cannucks won in a shootout. NHL players will be in the Olympics, so the schedule is compressed, games are on average, every other day with a few back to back games. We already had both games with Montreal, plus the Eastern Canada Road Trip(Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto)

Fivalry makes for a good name for the season series with Vancouver, even if it is BC Highway 99 North of the Peace Arch.

@4 Yep. A full blown regime change operation. Explosions in the capital (and probably civilian casualties), videos of U.S. helicopters flying over the city, and Trump claims Maduro and his wife have been “arrested” and flown to the U.S. to “stand trial.”

If so, Maduro was a bad guy, and good riddance. And if they pulled it off without a prolonged war (too soon to say), that’s better than, well, a prolonged war.

Assuming Maduro has been removed from power by U.S. military force, all they have to do now is make sure the power vacuum they’ve created isn’t filled by something/someone worse.

Easier said than done. The U.S. hasn’t been particularly successful with post-regime-change nation-building lately.

  6. Roger Rabbit spews:

The U.S. has a long history of overthrowing South American governments. How does that typically work out? Have the ordinary people there ended up better off? Have we?

Sure, Venezuela was in a state of crisis. Venezuelans, it seems pretty clear, overwhelmingly voted Maduro out of office. Rescuing Venezuela from him and his cronies is, on paper, a good thing.

The devil is in the details.

The obvious successors to Maduro are the drug cartels. If he’s been removed from power, and from the country, can we just walk away? What kind of long-term commitment has Trump gotten us into?

    Another Afghanistan?

    Make it make sense.

Venezuelens vote for you. You then want to deport them all because you portray them all to be violent criminals and they regret that they voted for you.

You go after their President because of drugs, but you pardon the drug dealer President of Hondorous. And your child is a coke addict/user. I think the real goal is that the guy wants to be the drug kingpin, in reality. And so long as he can’t be that individual then nobody can be it.

You go in and get rid of their President and they cheer in Miami.

The DJT47 administration is about to lay the groundwork for what may be the installation of the most recent Nobel Peace Prize winner, who was barred from running in the most recent Venezuelan elections at a time when she was the leading opposition candidate, as the new leader of Venezuela…

And HA libbies take issue with this? Because Orange Man Bad?

  14. RedReformed spews:

    Saturday, 1/3/26 at 8:25 am

    Personally I’m here:
“Doing the right things for the wrong reasons” means performing morally good actions (like helping someone or obeying laws) but being motivated by selfish desires, vanity, fear, or personal gain, rather than genuine altruism or moral duty, leading to a mixed ethical evaluation where the act is good but the intention isn’t virtuous, though outcomes can still be positive.
The action itself might benefit others, but the internal motivation lacks moral integrity, potentially fostering future self-serving behavior or revealing hypocrisy.

Who really pulls the strings on this? Has to be domestic oil barons. They need to raise the price of oil. They need to have leverage against OPEC.

    Iran is certainly next.

  17. lmao spews:

    Saturday, 1/3/26 at 9:43 am

@16 Forgot to mention Israel is running that Iran show. But back to this hemisphere.

The administration’s National Security Strategy released in November spelled out a “Trump Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine.” Or as Trump put it on Saturday: “We’ve superseded it by a lot. By a real lot. They now call it the Don-roe Doctrine.”

So they do this silliness to distract the rubes from Epstein. That won’t work against housing, electricity, food and imported goods costing way more making life intolerable for over half of households in this country.

Can’t speak for evyerone else but I take no issue with it really. But the guise of drugs is bullshit, that’s what I have issue with. I have issue with “I don’t know what Project 2025 is”. I have issue with grifting and looting and the corruption under the guise of “National Security” or “Fraud”. Everything out of the mouth of that jackass, as well as the party (and MTG know it and said it) are lies and bullshit. I have issue with being a lawless fraudster. I have issue with the BIGOTRY and RACISM.

    What happened to America first?

The White House said Saturday that an operation launched overnight to capture Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife and fly them out of the country was justified in part by Venezuela having stolen U.S. oil.

“As everyone knows, the oil business in Venezuela has been a bust, a total bust for a long period of time. They were pumping almost nothing by comparison to what they could have been pumping and what could have taken place,” Trump told reporters Saturday. “We’re going to have our very large United States oil companies — the biggest anywhere in the world — go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the badly broken infrastructure — the oil infrastructure — and start making money for the country.”

Sigh.. Argentina and Venezuela come first.

In 1976, the government of oil-rich Venezuela assumed control of the country’s petroleum industry, nationalizing hundreds of private businesses and foreign-owned assets, including projects operated by the American giant ExxonMobil.

1976 was way before Chavez. Chavez just took the last private assets remaining in the Orinoco Belt in 2007.

@102 Drumpf wants to be just like Putin and Putin’s aspirations.

Exactly. The gist of what the historian said in the video @101 is that after two world wars in quick succession, to avoid another world-scale war between countries now armed with civilization-ending nuclear weapons, the victorious Allies established a rules-based global order that respected national boundaries and sovereignty.

Putin wants to replace this with “spheres of influence,” a throwback to colonialism times when big powers exercised sway, often by force, over smaller countries within regions they controlled. That system was characterized by exploitation of resources and subjugation of weaker peoples.

Putin and Trump would divide up the world as follows: Russia gets Europe, China gets Asia, and the U.S. gets North and South America, to do with as they please. The people in those other countries would be ruled with little or no say. It’s not exactly a return to the Middle Ages, when kingdoms fought over territorial control, but it’s a throwback to a colonial era that followed.

This is desirable? Probably not even to MAGAts. As MTG, suddenly an unexpected ally of anti-Trumpers, pointed out it’s not “America First,” a sort of revived isolationism of the sort that preceded WW2. Trump is now talking about conquest, not withdrawing into our own borders. He wants to expand those borders without the consent of, say Greenlanders or Denmark, by military force if necessary.

The objection is not to Maduro’s ouster. Everyone agrees he’s a bad guy and an illegitimate ruler. Nobody gives a shit what happens to him now. The objection is to Trump’s interventionist policies and the damage he’s inflicting on the rules-based order, which he attacks on Venezuelan vessels, and now the country itself, plainly violate.

But this is too complicated for the shallow minds of Trump cheerleaders, or the lying dumbfuck troll, to grasp. Moreover, even if they comprehended the principles at stake — and its principles, not personalities, that matter in this — they don’t give a damn about the rule of law, they only care about results, in this case grabbing resources (Venezuela’s oil, Greenland’s minerals), which of course is what Trump talks about, and taking those resources from their rightful owners by any means is all he and they care about.

Bondi just Tweeted that Maduro is “indicted” on “Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns (sic)”.

Please note that there is no federal law forbidding the possession of a machine gun in the United States.

There are a bunch of federal laws very heavily restricting machine guns in the United States, and making it both very costly and very difficult to possess one. But she is claiming in a tweet to have an indictment for a crime that does not exist.

Bondi, who it may be useful to point out at this point was Fat Hitler’s second choice after the even more unqualified Matt Gaetz was pulled from consideration after it was confirmed that he had been raping children and supplying them with narcotics, is simply too stupid to understand that the charge she has indicted Maduro for is not possession. Rather, it is a secondary charge related to the principle charge of narcotics trafficking, which applies greater penalties to that crime if the accused was in possession of certain firearms at the time of the offense.

@106 I think it’s safe to say that Trump, with his eye on Venezuela’s oil, has no intention of letting a democratic reformer like Machado run the country, even as a figurehead.

It’s important to understand that removing Maduro doesn’t necessarily end the regime. The real power in Venezuela is the military. They propped up Maduro, he enriched them, and Trump likely will seek to cut a deal with them that leaves the power structure and corruption in place and cuts American oil companies in on the action. He’ll offer to reopen the oil spigots and flow of money if they play ball with him.

I mean, who’s gonna believe Trump cares about restoring democracy to Venezuela, or is interested in putting a more left-leaning government in authority there?

President Donald Trump is amplifying baseless social media posts that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz had been part of a conspiracy to kill Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman last year over a day care fraud scandal in the state that’s been spotlighted by right-wing influencers.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2026/01/04/trump-conspiracies-walz/

only thing missing is Vance Boelter being mind controlled by Tim Walz to be a programmed ASSASSIN! O but wait a sec. Missing? NAAAH..

    scratch that:

In the video Trump shared Saturday night, an unnamed narrator claims without citing any credible facts that Walz, also a Democrat, directed Boelter to assassinate Hortman because she voted against “a multibillion-dollar money laundering fraud” — a reference to a years-long welfare fraud investigation over day care centers in Minnesota that has been amplified in recent weeks…

who could the “unnamed” narrator be? teh widbee kreepfuck??? Lastly:

Among other things, the conspiracy video shared by Trump also incorrectly claims that Boelter was a Walz aide. Boelter did not directly work for Walz, and his only known connection to Minnesota politics was as part of a 60-member Governor’s Workforce Development board, an unpaid advisory board.

We at HA all know that fantasy gives way more meaning to the “life” of teh moldering kreepfuck of widbee than mere factual reality.

@153 The same scam as “eliminating taxes on Social Security.” No, that didn’t happen. Instead, Social Security pensioners get a $6,000 deduction from ordinary income, which effectively means only the first $6,000 of Social Security income isn’t taxed. For low-income retirees in the zero tax bracket, the deduction is worthless. Retirees in higher tax brackets get more tax savings than those in lower tax brackets; a retiree in the 10% bracket saves $600, while one in the 37% bracket (who needs it least) saves $2,200. If you really wanted to help struggling pensioners, you’d enact a flat tax credit, not a deduction.
