East Marginal Way is open once again. At least a bicycle path. Cars, tomorrow. I took the bike trail on Saturday, and it was nice with no cars, anyway.

Great review, Carl! Anything specific?

  • The more connections the better, so this is nice to have. Seattle’s bike network is really filling out.
  • Genuinely much nicer than the bike lane that was at grade before.
  • East Marginal Way has a reputation as being a bit grimey. I don’t think this will fix that.
  • It’s kind of narrow and there’s a fence on either side: I imagine it will feel more cramped when there are more bikes and you’re next to car traffic.
  • With that fence, it means that people biking to jobs within that corridor will have to take the road. Also, presumably there are emergency response plans, but it doesn’t seem like the best place to have an accident that requires an ambulance.
  • Jack Perry Park is the second best Port of Seattle park named after a Jack. But it’s still got great views and that stand of madronas is pretty neat. It’s somewhat more accessible now, so go check it out.

    The gist is this: Mayor Baraka and his team were invited in by DHS. That’s a fact now stipulated to by the DOJ.
    Special Agent Ricky Patel gets a call and is ordered by a “her” to “grab Baraka” for “tresspassing” despite the DHS conceding that he was present with their permission at the time, and that by the time of the call Baraka had stepped back outside of the facility. Patel then orgainizes a team of armed ICE fat asses to disable their body worn video equipment, exit the facility and arrest the Mayor of Balitimore “per the Deputy Attorney General of the United States”.

    Every single word that the Actual Nazi Fucktard repeated from MAGAstapo DHS tweets and public media statements was bullshit propaganda. The arrest of the Mayor was entirely unlawful from the start, was entirely premeditated as such, and that was known to the fascists from the very beginning.

    So far being ignored is developments in Europe that could leverage the 50-100 miles of overhead wire in Seattle that could replace hybrids on routes that share corridors with trolleys for part of the route, while hooked up and running, batteries recharge. One example being the Swiss city of Biel/Bienne. Planning to replace diesels with trolleys on all routes.(The Diesel lines share parts of the three trolleybus routes)
