    This raises an interesting question. Recently, lawsuits have forced various art museums and collectors to disgorge art treasures stolen by the Nazis. American law is clear: Theft does not change title to property, and subsequent innocent purchasers of stolen property do not acquire a valid title.

    Now let’s suppose that courts eventually determine Halliburton et al. acquired government contracts through corruption. Can those companies be forced to disgorge the public monies they were paid under the fraudulent contracts? One would think so — and, of course, this in all likelihood will bankrupt those companies.

    Now let’s suppose further that certain officials obtained their appointments through bribery or corruption. What are the chances that honest courts would declare those appointments invalid, rule those officials not entitled to remain in office, and perhaps even declare their official acts as lacking authority and unenforceable?

    Now let’s go a step further and suggest that judges — nominally appointed for life — are found to have gained their positions through a corrupt and illegal process. Would it be necessary to remove those judges from power by impeaching them — or could their original appointments be declared null and void by a subsequent Supreme Court? Including the appointments of some of the Supreme Court’s own members?

    When Hitler fell, his entire regime fell with him. All the Nazi officials lost their positions and power virtually overnight. Once Hitler was dead, and what was left of the German military surrendered, they went overnight from government officials wielding absolute power to hunted fugitives.

    When the Bush regime of unparalleled corruption; when the investigations have been completed, and the torrents of indictments issued; will any of its minions and lackeys retain position and power (particularly on the nation’s federal benches) — or will America undergo a “de-Bushification” as Germany underwent “de-Nazification,” to cleanse officialdom of the stench of the corruption and evil of the fallen regime?

Based on that “executive” experience, Rossi and all the idiots who voted for him thought he was qualified to manage a public budget of $15 billion a year and supervise 200 executive branch departments and over 100,000 employees.

    That’s kind of like Roger Rabbit wanting to make the jump from 14 1/4-lb. rodent to 15,000-lb. elephant with no intermediate steps (like kangaroo or tiger, for example). Hell, I’m not trained to be an elephant, and I have no experience as an elephant, so why should I delude myself into thinking I know how to trample villages?     1. We can’t drill our way to oil abundance. At the current rate of consumption (85 million bpd), the world’s known reserves (900 billion bbl) will be used up in 29 years.

    2. Roughly two-thirds of the world’s oil reserves are in the Middle East.

    3. The U.S. currently consumes 7 billion bbls of oil a year.

    4. The largest U.S. oilfield in the Gulf of Mexico is Thunder Horse, at 1 billion bbls, which would supply U.S. needs for less than 2 months.
