Hmm. Perhaps we also need a “Committee for a Two-Newspaper Union Town“…
Members who attended Saturday’s closed-door union meeting said most Times employees in attendance voted to cut ties with the committee, while most P-I employees voted to continue support.
Way to stick together guys.
What? Howard Dean is having a tantrum that Indiana has passed a photo ID bill for voting? Why?
It comes as a shock, I know, that illegal aliens, out of towners, out of staters, folks with multiple addresses, college students, felons who aren’t supposed to, and the dead vote any number of times in our elections with the precision of an IBM punch card machine.
You may also notice that these disparate groups are all valued members of the great new growing all-encompassing big tent Democratic Party, especially those without any documents, convicted criminals and the newly buried.
It also should come as no surprise at all that a study in New Jersey awhile ago found that the overwhelming majority of the five thousand or so dead who voted in the 2004 election went Democrat.
In fact, the sheer numbers of dead who managed to get to the polls in Jersey were so shocking that it caused a judge to order that the polling lists be immediately expunged of the voting incorporeals.
Deputy sheriffs will be asked to advise cemetery owners and operators to lock down their gates to insure that their charges stay put during the hours the polls are open, in an attempt to keep the walking zombies, victims of Voodoo curses and bad juju away from the ballot boxes in Bergen County.
Now, in Indiana, we’re told that the DNC and state Democratic leaders have banded together to fight the new voter ID bill, which was recently passed, requiring a photo ID to vote, all in an attempt to halt these wild free wheeling ongoing infractions in state elections.
And Howard Dean, that convivial proponent of the tsunami of undocumented American entry and the gagged up nonsense bawling leader of the DNC, has exclaimed that this new law will keep some people from voting.
But Howard, of course it will, and it’ll serve to keep the riff-raff away from the ballot box.
By demanding that people coming to the polls–a sacred right, not a privilege like driving–to possess a valid photo ID, it’ll kick out the illegal aliens, the felons and the doggone dead right off the top–three key growing and voting Democratic constituencies.
Then, to add fuel to the growing fire, a federal judge, gasp, no, it sure appears that Clinton didn’t appoint this one, agreed with Indiana’s law, dealing the Democrats a stunning set-back in their attempts to re-pack the ballot boxes.
Mr. Dean, stunned by this foul jolt of reality, promises an appeal, and will base it on the equal protection clause–for non-citizens, felons and the recently dead, whose post death wishes were well known only to local party activists. Others were known to contact the living through séances and the Bible code.
Meanwhile, in the Granite State, in the Live Free or Die environs, where enforced amnesia is running rife, Governor John Lynch, an emerging Democrat of Howard Dean ilk in pin striped clothing, who recently entertained Bill Richardson, fearing for the continued survival of a similar cross section of threatened voters, and remembering how close the elections were in 2000 and in 2004, in his first veto of the year, shot down a similar law.
“Our responsibility as elected officials is to protect every citizen’s constitutional right to vote and to ensure that any proposed changes to our voting system do not create unnecessary barriers to our voting.” Mr. Lynch steadfastly offered to the favored Democratic voting blocs of illegal aliens– certainly not wishing in any way to impede their appearance at the voting booth–felons and the newly dead, whose wishes, again, were surely known before their sudden, untimely and shocking demise.
It is surprising how political courage varies between two states, how pandering continues, and how far New Hampshire has fallen from its one time flinty, New England, go it alone, voting is an inviolable act, image, to one of outright truckling with scofflaws and the dearly departed.
While Indiana has taken a solid step to protect the sanctity of the ballot box, found in 2000 to possess so many inconsistencies, and to quiet the growing concerns of its restive citizens about the electoral process, New Hampshire, in the club tie guise of its new Democratic Governor, has chosen to keep the ballot box open for fraud and maintain the fear associated with voting malpractice.

I hope a progressive think tank does a careful study of winger infiltration of blogs. It would be absolutely fascinating to better understand how the Republicans operate.
Some of us make fun of Kevin Cairns’ multiple personalities. I do that metaphorically. He doesn’t seem to have the literary range to present more than a few personas, and he seems primarily focused on Washington state issues. I’m more interested in the wingers who sound like they work for national outfits.
For example, I wouldn’t be surprised if Janet S is responsible for monitoring and “spinning” a portfolio of blogs. She is too quick to respond to certain kinds of politically sensitive issues, and her responses are too polished for an amateur.
I wonder how blog jamming operations are structured. It is like a magazine where some folks are salaried staff and others are freelancers? Do operatives get training in the development and maintenance of “characters,” or is this such a new field that folks just make things up as they go? How are talking points dispatched? How much autonomy do operatives have in what they say? How are operatives judged “successful”?
What’s particularly interesting is how the varying personas may work in synch, almost like a football play in motion. Is there a “playbook” of strategies grounded in propaganda-dissemination research, or is this purely ad hoc?
Do you think any of these trolls would be willing to share their trade secrets?

Democratic platform: Opportunity for all
Republicans don’t have ideas. They just want to preserve entrenched (and usually inherited) wealth, power, and privilege for a tiny minority — at the expense of the minority. They use racism, bigotry, and hate to divide people. They are violent militarists who favor wholesale use of the death penalty (especially against minorities), aggressive war, conquest of other countries and subjugation of their peoples, unlicensed assault weapons, and vigilante groups. In other words, all of society’s uneducated trash gathers in the GOP. The Republican Party is the wastebasket for America’s social failures.

THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME
An article in today’s Seattle Times outlines Democratic prospects of taking over the House — and their legislative agenda if they do.
The Democrats need 15 seats win control. “Stuart Rothenberg, editor of the nonpartisan Rothenberg Political Report … said … realistically, 30 Republican seats and five Democratic districts are vulnerable.”
“Democrats have formulated a plan of action for their first week in control … vote quickly to raise the minimum wage for the first time since 1997 … roll back a provision in the Republicans’ Medicare prescription-drug benefit that prohibits the Department of Health and Human Services from negotiating prices for drugs … implement the recommendations of the bipartisan panel convened to shore up homeland security in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks … (and) reinstate lapsed rules that say any tax cuts or spending increases have to be offset by spending cuts or tax increases to prevent the deficit from growing.” http://seattletimes.nwsource.c.....ems07.html

3. run over it with his SUV … 6 votes
4. make a fur coat out of it … 22 votes**
5. put his mouth on its ass and kiss its cute cottontail … 117,489 votes

No, no, that’s serve, protect, get reelected, and protect fellow Republicans. Note I said fellow — we don’t elect women unless they are past childbearing age.
I notice that the hate radio Republicans are busy trying to spin a tale that somehow has Democrats responsible for our $3 per gallon gas. In case anyone is fooled by such outright lies, here are some incontrovertible facts:
* The price of gas has doubled since Bush took office
* The GOP has controlled the Congress since 1994
* The GOP controls the White House, the Senate and the House
* The GOP defeated Democratic bills that would have required cars to get better gas mileage
* The GOP is in complete and utter control of the federal legislative agenda and Democrats have no opportunity to bring legislation not wanted by Republicans
* The Vice President and President are both oil men
* Condi Rice and three other high-ranking Bush Administration members have recently served on the boards of oil companies
* The GOP passed THEIR energy bill and gave $15 billion to their oil company pals in tax breaks
* The Vice President had super secret meetings with big energy from day one of this Administration
* Experts agree we can’t drill our way out of this mess. Even if we opened ANWR it’s six months worth of oil, ten to 12 years from now
Now in case those facts don’t lead you to any conclusions, here are mine. The Republicans run the show. There’s nobody they can blame but themselves. Should we really be surprised that two oil men took over the White House and gas doubled in price? I don’t think so. And no matter how hard Faux News tries to tell you it’s okay that you’re getting raped at the pump, it isn’t.
I think it’s time I admitted I am a transvestite and a traitor. I am sorry that I pretended to be a patriot. In reality, I am a coward like all republicans.
Mr. Sucks, you seem to have forgotten that Bill Clinton is the man who created high gas prices through his immoral use of cigars. Perhaps Rufus could follow up with a discussion about dresses. Rufus?

65
Hey I am not the guy to talk to about the immoral use of cigars. Now if you want to talk about the immoral use of a car and a bridge then I am your guy.
No, no, no, Rufus — tell them about the dress stain. That’s a good one. Like, pay no attention to gas prices, look at this DRESS STAIN!

WHY CHEAP-LABOR CONSERVATIVES HATE PROSPERITY
“The ugly truth is that cheap-labor conservatives just don’t like working people. They don’t like ‘bottom up’ prosperity, and the reason for it is very simple. Lords have a harder time kicking them around. Once you understand this about the cheap-labor conservatives, the real motivation for their policies makes perfect sense. Remember, cheap-labor conservatives believe in social hierarchy and privilege, so the only prosperity they want is limited to them. They want to see absolutely nothing that benefits the guy – or more often the woman – who works for an hourly wage.
“Maybe you don’t believe that cheap-labor conservatives like unemployment, poverty and ‘cheap labor’. Consider these facts. Unemployment was 23 percent when FDR took office in 1933. It dropped to 2.5 percent by time the next Republican was in the White House in 1953. It climbed back to 6.5 percent by the end of the Eisenhower administration. It dropped to 3.5 percent by the time LBJ left office. It climbed over 5 percent shortly after Nixon took office, and stayed there for 27 years, until Clinton brought it down to 4.5 percent early in his second term.
T”hat same period – especially from the late forties into the early seventies – was the ‘golden age’ of the United States. We sent men to the moon. We built our Interstate Highway system. We ended segregation in the South and established Medicare. In those days, a single wage earner could support an entire family on his wages. …
“These facts provide a nice background to evaluate cheap-labor conservative claims like ‘liberals are destroying America.’ In fact, cheap-labor conservatives have howled with outrage and indignation against New Deal liberalism from its inception in the 1930’s all the way to the present. … Cheap-labor conservatives opposed virtually all of the New Deal, including every improvement in wages and working conditions. Cheap-labor conservatives have a long and sorry history of opposing virtually every advancement in this country’s development going right back to the American revolution.
” — Cheap-labor conservatives have hated Social Security and Medicare since their inception.
” — Many cheap-labor conservatives are hostile to public education. … Cheap-labor conservatives opposed universal public education in its early days. …
” — Cheap-labor conservatives hate the progressive income tax like the devil hates holy water.
” — Cheap-labor conservatives like budget deficits and a huge national debt for two reasons. A bankrupt government has a harder time doing any “social spending” – which cheap-labor conservatives oppose, and . . .
” — Wealthy cheap-labor conservatives … buy the bonds and then earn tax free interest on the money they lend the government … The deficit created by cheap-labor conservatives while they posture as being ‘fiscally conservative’ – may count as the biggest con job in American history.
” — ‘Free Trade’, globalization, NAFTA and especially GATT are intended to create a world-wide ‘corporate playground’ where national governments serve the interests of corporations – which means ‘cheap labor’.”

Roger, you fail to understand one basic element of economics — what matters isn’t growth per se, but increasing the concentration of wealth and power in the hands of the Good People.
You cannot deny that George W. Bush has been fabulously successful at that. That’s all that matters, because the Good People determine election results. You don’t believe me? Watch what we do to Darcy Burner.
Republican liars love to say Democrats have no ideas. Since FDR, the central idea of the Democratic Party has never changed:
OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL
Republicans, of course, want opportunity only for those who already have (mostly inherited) wealth, power, and privilege — because they don’t want to compete against ambitious, energetic up-and-comers. That’s why they consistently oppose public education, student financial aid, unemployment benefits, assistance and training for dislocated workers, and anything else that might give someone else a chance to compete against them in our economy.
It is the Republicans who are bankrupt of ideas. They are AGAINST workers. They are AGAINST free universal education. They are AGAINST affordable housing and health care for all. They are AGAINST job safety rules, injured workers compensation, unemployment insurance, and Social Security. They are AGAINST collective bargaining (to offset the unfair advantage of management). The only thing they are FOR is themselves.
what matters isn’t growth per se, but increasing the concentration of wealth and power in the hands of the Good People.
Here here Janet. I will drink to that.
I knew I could count on you Rufus. We really are good, arent’ we?
Here’s a Republican idea: Change the bankruptcy laws to make it easy for corporations to break union contracts and renege pension obligations while making it impossible for consumers ruined by usurious credit card interest (sold to them by deceptive marketing practices) or runaway medical bills to get out of debt.
Here’s another Republican idea: 25 cents of every dollar you spend on health care goes to private insurance companies, some of whose CEOs make over $100 million a year.
Here’s another Republican idea: Keep minimum wage at $5.15 an hour no matter how high prices go.
Here’s another Republican idea: Every cent of America’s increased national income since 1970 has gone to the top 20% of households. Workers’ standard of living has not risen at all in the last 35 years.
Here’s another Republican idea: Drug companies and other manufacturers should be immune from lawsuit if they injure or kill you with defective products.
Here’s another Republican idea: Whether federal regulators should allow new drugs on the market does not depend on whether they are safe and efficacious, but how much their manufacturers contributed to the Republican Party.
Yes, in a manner of speaking, the GOP is a party of ideas — trouble is, we can’t afford their ideas.
87
I understand the principle, Janet. That’s why I admire the old-time union men who got things done with pipes, bricks, guns, and dynamite. In other words, pay me a fair wage, or I’ll blow up your fucking plant!!! Just kidding. Hey, Ann Coulter jokes around all the time, so why can’t I joke around too? Why should Republicans have a monopoly on telling jokes? Republicans want a monopoly on every fucking thing.
So … Janet … Redneck … Puddy … any of your other fucking Freepers … go ahead and refute my economic arguments. Tell us how Republican policies are good for average Americans. I DARE you.
BTW, in case you folks haven’t noticed, REPUBLICANS DON’T BELIEVE IN COMPETITION OR FREE MARKETS. They like monopolies. They hate competition, and unfailingly try to eliminate it.

Rabbit and other moonbats. It’s probably a waste of fucking time, but I’ll answer Wabbit’s nutball economic theories:
1) Bankrupcy laws were changed to stop deadbeats from “externalizing” their bad choices to The Producers. We’re SAFT of paying for the bad choices that others make. Here’s a idea: Live within your means.
We have the best health care system in the world. CEOs earn every fucking penny they make. If you don’t like it, go to Canada or Cuba. Your are NOT entitled to unlimited free health care.
Minimum wage: Pure grouchoandharpoism. If you don’t like the money you make here’s what you do: Go to school. Get some marketable skills. Find a job. Show up every day. Work your ass off. Keep going to school forever. Bottom line: If you want what I’ve got, do what I do. If you lack the moral character to do what I do, STFU and lay in your own shit.
The Producers are entitled to keep what they make. We do the work. We create the wealth. We get to keep it. Again, if you want what I’ve got, do what I do.
Drug companies need money to do R&D and get new drugs through the approval process. Costs a helluva lot of money to pay all those smart people.
So just for the hell of it, I’ll re-post moonbat economic theories:
Government exists to make private wealth possible.

101
“1) Bankrupcy laws were changed to stop deadbeats from ‘externalizing’ their bad choices to The Producers.”
BOOLSHIT! Most people go bankrupt because of job loss and/or medical debts. Consumers are being GOUGED for medical care (see below). The main effect of Bush’s bankruptcy “reform” has been a rush to bankruptcy courts by CORPORATIONS to renege on their union contracts, environmental liabilities, and pension obligations, dumping hundreds of billions of dollars of the latter on taxpayers.
“We have the best health care system in the world. CEOs earn every fucking penny they make.”
BOOLSHIT! — on every point! Under virtually all rankings, the quality of U.S. health care ranks no better than third world countries. Just a few days ago, MSM reported the results of a study showing Britain pays half as much per capita for health care that covers everyone, and has much lower illness rates than the U.S. There is no competitive market in health care in the U.S.; providers charge whatever they can get away with, and CEO compensation is determined by captive boards chosen by the CEOs themselves. As for whether CEOs “earn every penny” of their obscene salaries, a lot of consumer who are paying the world’s highest prices for third-rate health care would dispute that — America’s health-industry CEOs are delivering a lousy product at exorbitant prices.
“Minimum wage: Pure grouchoandharpoism. If you don’t like the money you make here’s what you do: Go to school. Get some marketable skills. Find a job. Show up every day. Work your ass off. Keep going to school forever. Bottom line: If you want what I’ve got, do what I do. If you lack the moral character to do what I do, STFU and lay in your own shit.”
BOOLSHIT! Any work worth doing is worth more than $5.15 an hour. The Teamsters who pick up our garbage just got a $6 an hour raise, not because the employers want to pay what their labor is worth, but because they have a strong union.
“The Producers are entitled to keep what they make.”
If this was true, Democrats would have all the money, and Republicans would have nothing, because Republicans do no work, they just tell other people to work.
“Drug companies need money to do R&D and get new drugs through the approval process. Costs a helluva lot of money to pay all those smart people.”
BOOLSHIT! Drug companies spend over half of their revenue on advertising.
“Washington, D.C. – A new report by the consumer health organization Families USA refutes the pharmaceutical industry’s claim that high and increasing drug prices are needed to sustain research and development.
“The report documents that drug companies are spending more than twice as much on marketing, advertising, and administration than they do on research and development; that drug company profits, which are higher than all other industries, exceed research and development expenditures; and that drug companies provide lavish compensation packages for their top executives.
“The report comes on the heels of a recent Families USA analysis that found prices rose more than twice the rate of inflation last year for the 50 most-prescribed drugs to seniors.
“Among the nine pharmaceutical companies examined in the report – Merck, Pfizer, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Pharmacia, Abbott Laboratories, American Home Products, Eli Lilly, Schering-Plough, and Allergan – all but one (Eli Lilly) spent more than twice as much on marketing, advertising, and administration than they did on research and development, and Lilly spent more than one and one-half times as much. Six out of the nine companies made more money in net profits than they spent on research and development last year.
“The report also documents profligate spending on compensation packages for top pharmaceutical executives. The executive with the highest compensation package in the year 2000, exclusive of unexercised stock options, was William C. Steere, Jr., Pfizer’s Chairman, who made $40.2 million. The executive with the highest amount of unexercised stock options was C.A. Heimbold, Jr., Bristol-Myers Squibb’s Chairman and CEO, who held $227.9 million in unexercised stock options.
“‘Pharmaceutical companies charging skyrocketing drug prices like to sugar coat the pain by saying those prices are needed for research and development,’ said Ron Pollack, Families USA’s executive director. ‘The truth is high prices are much more associated with record-breaking profits and enormous compensation for top drug company executives.’
“Pollack added, “Drug companies’ commitments to research and development are dwarfed by those companies’ expenditures for marketing, advertising, and administration.”
“In 2000, the pharmaceutical industry was, once again, the most profitable U.S. industry, and profit margins in the industry were nearly four times the average of Fortune 500 companies.
“According to the Families USA report, three companies – Merck, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Abbott Laboratories – received twice as much in net profits than they spent on research and development. Three other companies – Eli Lilly, Schering-Plough, and Allergan – received more money in net profits than they spent on research and development.
“‘The pharmaceutical industry’s repetitious cry that research and development would be curtailed if drug prices are moderated is extraordinarily misleading,’ said Pollack. ‘If meaningful steps are taken to ameliorate fast-growing drug prices, it is corporate profits, expenditures on marketing, and high executive compensation that are more likely to be affected, not research and development.’
“The Families USA report is based exclusively on the annual reports submitted by the pharmaceutical companies to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). … This report is available on the Families USA website, http://www.familiesusa.org.”
http://www.actupny.org/reports/drugcosts.html
Didja catch that, Mark the Liar? Marketing, executive compensation, and profits “dwarf” expenditures on R & D. Oh — and let’s not forget the enormous spending by these companies on political contributions to Republican lawmakers who protect their price-gouging and monopolies.

BOOLSHIT! Most people go bankrupt because of job loss and/or medical debts. Consumers are being GOUGED for medical care (see below).
Bullshit. Most people go bankrupt because they over spend and has nothing to do with losing a job. Yes some go bankrupt because of job loss/medical expenses but a overwhelming majority is due to bad choices.
HEY REDNECK! HERE’S SOME DRUG COMPANY FINANCIALS FOR YA:
Merck: $40.3 billion sales; profit 17%, MAA (marketing, advertising, administration) 15%, R&D 6%.
Pfizer: $29.5 billion sales; profit 13%, MAA 39%, R&D 15%.
Bristol-Myers Squibb: $18.2 billion sales; profit 26%, MAA 30%, R&D 11%.
Abbott Labs: $13.7 billion sales; profit 20%, MAA 21%, profit 10%.
Schering-Plough: $9.8 billion sales; profit 25%, MAA 36%, 14%.
All figures are for FY 2000.

“Most people go bankrupt because they over spend and has nothing to do with losing a job.” Commentby RUFUS Fitzgerald Kennedy— 5/7/06@ 10:03 pm
That’s a bald-faced fucking right-wing lie, and you are a bald-faced fucking liar. Can I say it any plainer than that?
Behind the scenes, many big political players are saying that Dave Reichert killed a 12 year old girl in Reno just to watch her die.
I have heard that too! Richard Pope, why is Reichert killing 12 year old girls?
I cannot imagine a more important issue than not letting a killer of 12 year old girls represent the 8th district!
THE FACTS ABOUT BANKRUPTCY
If we can get past MTR’s BOOLSHIT and Dufus’s LIES, here are some FACTS about bankruptcy reported by reputable JOURNALISTS, as opposed to the fantasy mouthings of right-wing bullshitters.
“If you look solely at population growth, you’d expect the number of bankruptcies to have grown from about 300,000 in 1980 to 400,000 in 2000. In reality, the number of bankruptcies was over 1.4 million in 2001 … there’s considerable evidence that this has been driven largely by people who faced ruin due to huge unforeseen medical expenses … if you crunch the numbers in this report, it appears that about two-thirds of the extra million bankruptcies may have been caused by medical emergencies.” http://www.washingtonmonthly.c.....005781.php
Now let’s talk about credit card companies, one of the most predatory industries on earth.
These companies made a business decision years ago to issue credit cards to every Tom, Dick, and Harry because their analyses showed they could make more money that way, as opposed to screening card applicants for credit risks. Of course this business model results in more bad debt — BUT THEY BUILT THAT INTO THEIR RATES. They’re not paying for the uncollectible credit card debts, their paying customers are.
Remember what “Conceptual Guerrilla” said about CHEAP LABOR CONSERVATIVES? “Cheap-labor conservatives constantly bray about ‘morality’, ‘virtue’, ‘respect for authority’, ‘hard work’ and other ‘values’. Why. So they can blame your being ‘over a barrel’ on your own ‘immorality’, lack of ‘values’ and ‘poor choices’.” http://www.conceptualguerilla......php?id=103 Now let’s examine this right-wing BULLSHIT as it applies to credit card debtors.
Credit card companies push credit cards on virtually everyone. There are even anecdotal stories of credit cards being issued to babies, dogs, and cats. They engage in deceptive advertising about fees and rates. They advertise heavily and use prizes and promotions to get people to use their cards. They KNOW some of these cardholders will rack up debts they can’t pay. As mentioned above, the business model is designed this way, and these losses are built into the fees, charges, and rates — alogn with the other costs of doing business including advertising and, yes, executive salaries and bonuses.
Now let’s ask, who is IMMORAL — a gullible individual who is seduced by the advertising, promotions, and lies of the credit card companies — or the companies that deluge the mailboxes of unwilling consumers with tons of junk mail, flood the airwaves with unwanted advertising, and gull the suckers with teaser rates and pull the wool over their eyes with legalese printed in 4 point type that you need a magnifying glass to read and a lawyer to understand?
Speaking of advertising, I get about 3 solicitations a week from Capitol One. This has been going on for several years, so the number of mailings I have received from Capitol One is almost certainly over 1,000 now. I have never responded to a single one, yet they keep sending them. Have you ever wondered who is paying for delivering all that junk mail? They’re certainly not. Mass mailers — credit card companies foremost among them — are political players and you can be very sure they use their campaign contributions and lobbying expenditures to make sure somebody else pays for delivering their junk mail. I don’t know what junk mail rates are, but I’ll bet it costs Capitol One less than 1/100th as much as it costs me to put a stamp on a bill payment envelope. When it comes to junk mailing, credit card companies are the biggest fucking FREELOADERS in the whole fucking universe!
And trollfucks like MTR and Dufus bray about the “immorality” of people who go bankrupt under a burden of credit card debt because they made “bad choices?” Somebody has to be paying them to post this swill on HorsesAss (and, no doubt, numerous other web sites) because nobody is stupid enough to type such barf for free. Bad choices? Yeah, some people make bad choices … they should’ve told the credit card companies to GO FUCK THEMSELVES.
Roger Rabbit charges about $20,000 a year to credit cards. I charge the groceries, appliances, household items, consumer purchases — any damn thing I can charge — I charge it! Hell, I’d charge my mortgage payments and property taxes if I could. Why? Because I get points for charging things to my credit cards. For every $1 I charge, I get 1 point. If you rack up enough points, you can use the points to get merchandise like DVD players, digital cameras, luggage, and other stuff for free. So, the more I charge, the more free merchandise I get.
Know how much I pay in fees and interest? Zero. Zip. Nada. I have only no-fee cards that don’t charge interest if the balance is paid in full every month, which of course I do, so the only credit card debt I have is whatever has been charged during the current billing cycle.
Who pays for that? The paying customers, that’s who. Certainly not me, because I’m a non-paying customer. I get up to 30 days of credit FREE plus a useful record of my purchases plus the safety and convenience of not carrying cash plus $500,000 of travel life insurance plus free merchandise plus a bunch of other stuff and I don’t pay a fucking cent for any of it.
Does that make me “immoral?” or a “freeloader?” Hell no, I’m just playing a game somebody else made up, and I’m playing by THEIR rules! If credit card companies want to give me credit, insurance, merchandise, and other card benefits free, who am I to question the wisdom of their business model? Morality doesn’t have a fucking thing to do with this. It’s all based on calculations made by people a lot smarter than me who figured they could make more money by giving away stuff to rabbits while gouging humans than they could by charging me a fair price for all the stuff I’m getting from them.
Like I said, I’m just a lowly fucking rabbit, so who am I to tell a bunch of MBAs how to run their business or decide whether this is “moral” or not. And anyway, since when did “morality” ever have anything to do with BUSINESS?
(continued)
You sure as hell never hear businessmen say anything about MORALITY when it’s THEIR morality or the morality of their BUSINESS PRACTICES you want to discuss.
(continued)
And then we get these shills like Redneck and Dufus coming along squeaking about “immoral” people who make “bad choices” because they can’t pay the debt that was sold to them by hucksters who expect to write off a percentage of the debt they underwrite instead of just giving credit to good credit risks BECAUSE THEY MAKE MORE MONEY THAT WAY.
Fuck you, Redneck. Fuck you, Dufus. You’re both a pair of lying shills for IMMORAL cheap-labor conservatives.
Darcy Burner, on the other hand, is a sweet lady (and a very smart one, too!) who HUGS rabbits.
Congressman Reichert, I have a question for you. Have you ever KICKED a rabbit? If you don’t deny it, I’ll take that is convincing evidence it’s true.
Well, I don’t see a denial — Congressman Reichert has NOT denied that he KICKS rabbits — so it’s apparently true!
But, far more important than Reichert’s disgusting treatment of rabbits, is the fact that beginning next January the 8th CD will be represented by a smart woman who HUGS rabbits!
I have faith in the 8th District voters … I’m sure they know better than to vote for a rabbit-kicker.

Most of these quotes are paraphrased because they were not recorded soon enough after I heard them for exact duplication. But no subtle nuance in wording can alter the idiocy these paraphrases contain. And, sadly, 100% of them come from college professors and students at our so-called institutions of higher learning. I hope they entertain you as much as they entertained me – although something tells me they will irritate more than a few readers:
10. “911 was a conspiracy planned between the Bush administration and the Jews. They wanted an excuse to attack Arabs and the ignorant public bought into it.” (from a now-deceased college professor).
9. “I don’t want any teacher who supports George W. Bush. If Bush is elected he’s planning – along with the rest of the Republicans – to bring back slavery. I don’t want to work picking cotton in the cotton fields like my ancestors.” (college student).
8. “It is a known fact that the Reagan administration invented crack to destroy the black community.” (college professor).
7. “The Reagan administration hired Jewish doctors to develop the AIDS virus to destroy Africa.” (college professor).
6. “The Mona Lisa was painted by an African artist and stolen from a museum in Ethiopia. Most of the great works of art are African in origin and stolen by white people. This is done to promote the myth of white cultural superiority.” (graduate student).
5. “The voting machines in Florida were built by white supremacists. They may well be able to distinguish between black and white voters. Who knows what they are capable of making those machines do?” (college professor).
4. “Newt Gingrich’s election as Speaker of the House, limiting affirmative action, limiting welfare, the Republican tax cuts, and the balanced budget are all part of the same idea. Everything the Republicans do or discuss is about racism. Everything is a well-orchestrated effort to keep the black man down.” (college professor).
3. “The ABC news doesn’t tell you. The CBS news doesn’t tell you. The NBC news doesn’t tell you. Even CNN doesn’t tell you. Nobody tells the truth that almost all serial killers are white. The news outlets all work together to make folks think that all killers are black.” (college professor and diversity director).
2. “The death penalty is a genocidal mechanism that seeks to control black people through extermination or, more importantly, the threat of extermination.” (college professor).
1. “It is a proven fact that U.S. Coast Guard ships – on orders from President Bush – were seen crashing into the New Orleans levees during Hurricane Katrina. Bush did it to kill black people living in government housing projects.” (college student).
If you haven’t been following the campus cultural wars lately, you might find it hard to believe that some of those quotes were actually uttered. But if you have worked or studied on a campus lately, chances are you’ve heard variations of several of them.
Few Americans paid much attention last year when Cuban President Fidel Castro announced China would help explore potentially large oil reserves off Cuba’s northwest coast – not far from the Florida Keys. But now – with gas prices climbing above $3 a gallon – the prospect of China drilling near the United States has become a hot political issue as two of the world’s largest economies vie for new sources of energy.
I guess it’s best to allow those environmentally sensitive communist Chinese to pump the oil off our coast than the eeeeevil, greedy BIG OIL in America. s/o.
