Pew pegs Bush’s approval at 33 percent. SurveyUSA has Bush above 50 percent in only three states: Utah, Wyoming and Alabama. No wonder Republicans are switching parties.

MSM is asking today whether Bush needs “new blood” in his administration. Ya, that would seem like a good idea. He should fire Rove, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, the rest of his cabinet, but above all, he should fire himself.

IT’S A SIGN! ASTRONOMERS FIND PROOF OF INTELLIGENT DESIGN

“Twisted Double-Helix Nebula Found in Milky Way
    “Reuters

“WASHINGTON (March 15) – Cosmic nebulae usually look like blobs in space, but astronomers using the Spitzer Space Telescope reported on Wednesday they have found a nebula twisted like the double helix of DNA.

“‘Nobody has ever seen anything like that before in the cosmic realm,’ said Mark Morris of the University of California, Los Angeles. Most nebulae are ‘formless, amorphous conglomerations of dust and gas,’ Morris said in a statement, adding that this one ‘indicates a high degree of order.’

“The discovery of the twisted nebula, which stretches across 80 light-years at the center of the Milky Way, the galaxy that includes Earth, was reported in the current edition of the journal Nature.”

Giving the human species a free will, and allowing some of them to choose to become Republicans (or other evil behavior), may have seemed like a good idea to Him at the time, but heck, Anybody can make a mistake.

Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York and Patty Murray of Washington said they would put a hold on acting FDA commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach’s nomination to become the permanent head of the agency.

“It is past time for the FDA to stop dragging its heels and make a decision on Plan B,” the lawmakers said in a statement. “We will place a hold on the nomination of Dr. von Eschenbach until the FDA issues a decision on Plan B, yes or no.”

The documents, the first of thousands expected to be declassified over the next several months, were released via a Pentagon Web site at the direction of National Intelligence Director John Negroponte. …………………………………………………[This CAN’T be true because GBS and RR told us “Bush Lied!!!!!!!!!!!!”]

Even the cops are complaining about this tactic.

“By Wednesday morning, 40 residents from throughout the county had called the sheriff’s department asking if the unnamed offender described on the phone had moved into their neighborhood. For most of them, the answer was no, (Sheriff) Bart said.

“They’re worried. I’m trying to allay their fears,” he said. “This raises the hysteria. This raises it to the level that it will cause law enforcement a problem.”

So, the Republican answer to sexual offenders living among us is to…. make the police spend more time cleaning up after their politically motivated campaign, rather than have them do actual police work? That’s supposed to make me feal safer?

That represents about 23% of the 450,000 names that had been on the rolls. Officials had said they were unsure if a purge of the rolls had been conducted after the 2000 election.

From 35: “….all democrat voter fraud districts!!!!!”

Funny, the story only mentioned that the voter registration rolls were being cleaned up. I’m not aware of any allegation that anyone actually voted improperly, or which party they supported. I guess those facts weren’t considered important to someone who wants to make a political rant.

Most voting districts, both “red” and “blue”, have lots of old registrations which need to be purged. It can be because the voter moved and registered in his/her new location but the old registration wasn’t deleted, or because the voter (gasp) died! As long as nobody tries to vote twice, or as long as the dead don’t vote, it’s not a big problem.

But since the last couple of Presidential elections were so close, now more states are cleaning up their voter rolls. Yet now there is always some Republican who will try to manipulate what should be a routine process into evidence of “voter fraud”, without bothering to find any real evidence of fraud along the way. Pretty lame.

Those of us who make a living managing information from business databases understand that this is a normal process. We have to clean up erronious or duplicate data all the time, and sometimes we never can figure out how the error was created. It’s just one of those things, when you are dealing with lots of records, especially when you are understaffed and your data-entry employees are under paid.

Those that like to use this process for political advantage by jumping immediatly to the conclusion that it is evidence of fraud by a particular political party either (a) don’t understand databases, or (b) do understand databases, and are willing to lie about it for political advantage.

I’m a lifelong Republican who is fed up, not with the traditional Republican agenda of lower taxes, smaller government, and individual responsibility; rather, I am fed up with President’s assault on civil liberties, his mismanagement of foreign policy, and completely out of control government spending.

I will be voting for Democrat candidates for the House and Senate. President Bush deserves censure at the very least, and his impeachment and removal from office would be fine with me. I didn’t vote to have the ghost of Richard Nixon run our country, and the President’s blatently unconstitutional actions on wiretapping are worse than anything Clinton ever did.

But, before you Democrats start feeling great about this, I will not be voting for any of you for any state or local office. I think the espoused Democrat agenda of more social spending, more taxes, more government control, etc. is a travesty. I think Governor Gregoire needs to go at the next election, and as soon as Bush is out of office, I will be trying once again to dislodge federal Democrats from their cushy jobs.

Both parties disgust me. The actions of King George disgust me. Charles Schumer, Hillary Clinton, and all the rest make me ill beyond description.

I hope John McCain runs for President. I don’t like everything he talks about, but at least he has demonstrated true courage on behalf of the United States, which is more than Bush, Cheney, Clinton, and most others have ever done.

“Libertarian candidates” are synonomous with loser and spoiler. Except for some very rare small local races, the third party has been very effective at getting the guy who least agrees with you elected. What a stupid strategy.

If Libertarians are serious, they need to start playing politics with the big kids, and stop the ankle biting. GO out and persuade people to your point of view, and then take that power base to which ever party you think you fit into. Then persuade them that they need to adapt their beliefs to yours, since yours are more popular and better for the country.

I know that is too difficult, to actually try to effect change from within. So, we will be stuck with the embarrassments that are the Libertarian and Green parties.

  48. FelixTheCat spews:

The Libertarian agenda attracts me, but I think we do need things like public roads, a strong national defense, some support for those who cannot take care of themselves, public education, large scale scientific research beyond the means of private investment, and so forth.

I’ve voted in the past for Libertarian candidates, and I will vote for them in the future, but realistically I don’t think they can win because many of them are pure idealogues. Common sense counts more than ideaology in my book.

But, don’t give up. You and yours are the only viable alternative I see. The Democrats and the Republicans are both nothing but corrupt and inbred, trying to feather their respective nests with money gleaned from the public. I don’t trust either of them one bit.

They are guilty of the same thing you are accusing the major parties of. Whining at each other that no one listens is just tedious. Do something, convince someone.

The actions of those who want to “change things from within” are mostly the actions of those who merely want to exercise power.

I will be doing something. I will be voting to remove the greatest danger to the future of the republic, which I believe is President Bush. I will do this by voting for Democrat congressional candidates in 2006 to change the control of the Congress.

Once the President has either been removed or his term expires, I will then be voting for Republican candidates for Congress. I will be voting for Republican or Libertarian candidates for state and local office.

The Democrats are far too looney to be allowed actual control of the government. I want them in power in at least one house of Congress to act as a check on the power of the Republicans, who are far too greedy to be allowed actual control of the government.

I want divided government. It is the only thing that will keep the ship afloat.

    Bush Approval Sinks Further
Two new polls show Bush ‘s approval slipping even further. Pew Research has Bush’s job rating at 33% this month, a seven-point decline vs. February.

SurveyUSA’s new 50-state tracking poll also shows Bush’s approval declining. According to SUSA, the President’s job approval remains over 50% in only three states (Utah, Wyoming, and Alabama) and his nationwide approval (weighted for population) is down to 36% approve, 60% disapprove. The negative 24-point spread between approval and disapproval is the highest ever recorded by SUSA in eleven months of tracking Bush’s approval.

Overall, Bush’s approval in the RCP Average dropped to 36.4%. I’ll have to go back and check to be absolutely sure, but I believe that’s a new low for the President as well.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11849399/

Jessica, like lots of Hollywood “stars”, has a charity. Sometimes it is a cause the star really believes in. At other times, it is something cooked up by a public relations hack to beef up the star’s image, and give them more free press opportunities.

But Jessica seems to take her charity seriously. She is promoting “Operation Smile, a non-profit venture offering free plastic surgery for disadvantaged children overseas with facial deformities.” In Washington D.C., she was lobbying Congressmen in connection with that charity work.

But the President and Republican hacks generally saw this as a golden opportunity, and offered her some time to meet with the President. At first she agreed – gee, who wouldn’t want to meet the President, if given a chance?

But then she found out that the meeting with the President was actually an appointment to sit at the head table at a Republican fund-raiser. Maybe she would get a chance to speak with the President beyond a mere hand-shake and exchange of pleasantries, maybe not. But it was clear that she, and her charity, were being used for political purposes. Bush needs to boost his support in the “red states”, and what better way than to imply that he is supported by the hot actress from the Dukes of Hazzard motion picture?

Now politicans and actors use each other all the time, often for the same purpose of generating publicity. But Simpson saw that it would politicise her charity, and she opted out of the engagement.

Now the Republicans are mad at her, saying such engagements are okay with Bono, why not her? But Bono is careful about his meetings with politicians, and attending a Republican fund raiser in a manner which would imply his support of the President’s policies is something he also would not do. Besides, there is an IRS rule against a non-profit charitable organization directly supporting a candidate, legislation, or a political party. The IRS is pursuing attempts to revoke the non-profit status of a church in California where the pastor emeritus gave an “anti-war” sermon.

If an actor wants to support a politician, fine. Let them do so in an open and unequivical manner. But to try to trick an actor into implying support for a President and his party, under the guise of supporting their charity, and in a manner which could endanger the charity’s non-profit status, is pretty underhanded.

They punished me because striking and officer is a violation Article 90 of the UCMJ. Even though he was provoking the incident by running his mouth, I struck him first when he got all puffy chested in my face. Had I let him strike me first, I would’ve gotten off scott-free.

So, while I didn’t get the maximum punishment, they did want to make an example out of the “incident.”

The jarhead got a “letter of reprimand” in his file for “conduct unbecoming of an officer.” Of course, you know what that means for career advancement for an officer.

WHY TSA LAWYER FUCKED UP IN MOUSSOUAI CASE

Carla J. Martin, the TSA lawyer in hot water for coaching witnesses, probably has ensured that 9/11 defendant Moussouai won’t get the death penalty. She was placed on paid administrative leave today while the TSA, er, fires her. That is, I assume she’s going to lose her job. But that’s the least of her problems, as a federal judge is very angry at her, and she’s also facing criminal contempt charges, possible jail time, and possible disbarment.

    Why did she do it?

The answer is simple, really. Martin’s job title is “attorney-advisor,” a very common designation for federal agency staff attorneys. In the federal government, ALL litigation duties (i.e., representing the government in court proceedings) are the responsibility of the Department of Justice, and NO agency staff attorneys are allowed to appear in court or participate in trials.

It’s the same in state government; by law, state agencies must be represented by the Attorney General’s office, and lawyers employed as staff attorneys by state agencies are not allowed to represent the state in court or appear in trial proceedings.

Consequently, government staff attorneys have ZERO litigation experience. They’re usually experts in some technical area of law, such as regulation of broadcasting licensees, but they don’t know a damn thing about trial procedures, witnesses, evidence rules, and the like. Except what they heard (and forgot) in long-ago law school classes.

Martin fucked up because she didn’t know better. Trial procedure is the area of her lowest competency. Because, as an agency staff attorney with the title “attorney-advisor,” she gets no trial experience, no opportunity to practice, no exposure to litigation and the rules of courtroom procedure. It’s like asking Jim McDermott, a psychiatrist, to perform brain surgery based on what he remembers from a surgery course he took in medical school decades ago.

And will the judge — and bar association — hold Martin to the same professional standard and expectations as litigation lawyers who practice in the courts every day?

Damn right they will. She took the class, and answered the questions on the bar exam, and got her ticket to practice. She’s expected to know better. It’s assumed she knows, even if she doesn’t. If she gets it wrong, she’ll have her ass handed to her. That’s the way it works in this world, in virtually every profession and occupation.

Where am I going with this? What’s the moral of this story? Simply this. Being President of the United States is a voluntary activity. Nobody gets conscripted into the job, you have to ask for it. We elect (okay, in some cases, the Supreme Court selects) and pay our presidents based on the assumption they have the knowledge and skills to do the job correctly, and will perform competently and get the results we expect. If they don’t, they have to expect to get their ass handed to them.

Now compare Martin’s job performance with Bush’s. All Martin did was blow a death penalty trial for the government. Bush blew a lot more than that, with far greater and costlier consequences. Whatever they do to Martin, justifiably would be peanuts compared to what we, the people, ought to do to Bush. If she committed a firing offense, then, at the absolute very least, he committed firing offenses too. More like hanging offenses, but I’ll settle for firing him.

    Impeach the incompetent fool.

Agency staff attorneys are judged by their results, not their good intentions. You fuck up, you’re gone. Fired. The standard of performance — and consequences of poor performance or incompetent performance — should be no less for our presidents — if you fuck up, you lose the job. As “the Donald” would say,

WASHINGTON (AP) – Congress agreed to let the government borrow another $781 billion Thursday, allowing lawmakers and President Bush to pay for the war in Iraq and combat terrorism without raising taxes or cutting popular domestic programs.

The Senate, on a 52-48 vote, sent to President Bush a bill raising the ceiling on the national debt to nearly $9 trillion and preventing a first-ever default on U.S. Treasury notes. When the government reaches the new ceiling, expected sometime next year, the debt will represent $30,000 for every man, woman and child in the United States.

. . .Congress has now increased the debt ceiling four times by a total of $3 trillion since Bush took office five years ago.

And this is supposed to be the “adults” in charge.

Conservatives need to grow the fuck up. This kind of out of control spending has never before been seen by any political party. Clinton ran pay as you go government which produced a $300 billion dollar SURPLUS.

Defaulting on our debt would do more damage to this country than ANYTHING Al Qeada could do to us. So, why do you supposed “America Lovin’, Troop Supportin'” conservatives continue to support the Bush Republicans?

You are such a fuck up Donnageddon. Are you this stupid at work or are you lacking in horse sense after hours? Were you forced out of environmental chemistry and you received a patronage job in the defense industry? Are you a sanitary engineer in your building? Keep up your great bloggina and soon you will distance yourself from For the Clueless (TDF) and Rujax as the dullest knife of ASSes.

Damn, What am I saying…? You are a donk. You won’t get off your fat ass and do something for your fellow man! You are donk. You won’t spend you money on anything other than flesh lights and blow up dolls for your pleasure. Roger has his armadillo. Go visit him. He will demonstrate the correct technique!

Donnageddon: Your knife is so dull there may not be any hope. See Roger’s armadillo. It could help you!

Donnageddon: Why do you waste the brain matter God gave you? Oh yes, you reject and hate God because you are an atheist. So the blessings of God, which are showered on your unjust friends too, are repelled because of your atheist mantle and fall unused to the ground. Can you imaging how much God could bless you if you believed on Him and His Son Jesus? Oh well, keep wallowing in your job. I have been on the road 9 weeks. Can you say almost $50K before taxes so far? I am on a faster pace this year than last. Maybe I can take off the whole second half of the year! God, thank you for your blessings and this economy!

Donnageddon, why do you blog here? You bring down the average IQ of the other ASSHeads, who have a clue! Why don’t you just give up and stay in you cave in East King County! I heard there are some great bars in Baring. You can wallow in your beer and think about your wasted life!

DA WO (aka YO) @ 97:

Things at “MCDONALS” are OK, but your service in the men’s restroom was a bit slow. Thanks again for your invitation to make a “HAMBUGER” with you, but my time is too valuable to flip hambuRgers. That’s what I’m paying you to do.

Your manager said he was going to have retrain you on how to replace urinal cakes and toilet paper rolls and you seem to have a difficult time grasping the concept of mopping up the urine splatter. Apparently, “YOU TRAINING IN THE NAVY” was not put to good use.

Your manager also said you have a bit of an attitude problem. Every time he tells you to do a “restroom” check you try to get out of it by saying “I-buh don’t-buh know-buh wha-buh to-buh do-buh.” Then you fall on the floor screaming, kicking and sucking your thumb.

Aaannny-ways, good luck with your career in the fast-food industry.

    Dick suck.

    PuddyBud, you ignorant Moron.

“To all ASSes: Donnageddon accuses me of lying when HE parades around saying “I am an atheist”, then says “I don’t hate Jesus and God”. DOH, what does an atheist do? Because they reject God, they hate God. ”

I also don’t believe in the Easter Bunny, PuddyBud. That does not mean that I hate the Easter Bunny.

    You are unbelieveably stupid, PuddyBud.

In fact, you are just unbelieveable.

Donnageddon is trying to get out of how an atheist is defined as in the dictionary. Spin on Donnageddon spin on! Keep it up.
