How to catch a Conservative in the act of lying:

    Note the date/time stamps.

    http://www.horsesass.org/index.php?p=1332

108, Libertarian, I never attended flight school. Hence, I never “washed out”. All a figment of GBS’s vivid “imagination”. All my training was done in Newport, RI and Coronado, Ca, as well as the old Philadelphia Ship Yard. Then, three WESTPACs of 6 monthe each , one ten month IO cruise, and a tour in Coronado at the NAB. Four years at sea, and two ashore.

Here’s a funny story for the Red state folks:

    http://realestate.msn.com/buyi.....tid=338165

More Americans are losing their homes
U.S. Foreclosures rose 45% in January compared to a year ago, and experts only expect the pace to accelerate.

Why is that funny you ask?
The top 3 states that are leading in foreclosures on a per capita basis are:
    Georgia
    Nevada
    Colorado

All 3 states voted for George W. Bush.

But, wait, it gets even funnier.

What state do you think leads the nation in foreclosures?
    Texas, with 14,669.

Which state would you guess is #2?
    Florida, with 10,344.

You reap what you sow. Karma is a wonderful thing and the great equalizer.

Given all the corruption, scandals, criminal convictions, bribery, bankrupting the economy, Bin Laden on the loose, and outsourcing our homeland port security to Dubai, the republicans will have no problem keeping congress. NOT.

However, if you just want to get pissed off visit (un)Sound Politics. The problem with that blog is you get about 3-8 posts per thread, so it’s hard to get angry. Unless, of course, you just fucking hate crickets. Then, you’re in for a real treat.

    Mr. David:

There are many problems with (Un)soundpolitics. First of all, the minnow bans anyone that doesn’t suck up to him. Second, most of the comments are personal attacks. Third, the minnow and his lackeys often post pure propaganda, and never correct it when their mistakes are pointed out.

Orbusmax is the local equivalent to Drudge and might do the trick. Nothing original, Just biased links on local stories. Just remember most of these blogs are written to the level of the average right-wing blog reader/poster (i.e. living in the basement of Mom’s house, drunk and not very concerned about the truth).

I have yet to find a sensible local right wing blog. Which is a shame, because it would be nice to have a lively debate, and there are arguments for the other side. Nationally there are a few (start with Andrew Sullivan, Mickey Kaus and some others to get a feel), but sadly, like the Washington Republican party of late, the wingnuts dominate locally. Dan Evans must sob every time he thinks of what has become of his party. (Want an example, do a search of Sam Reeds name at any local right wing blog).

Since the subject is turning to the cost of housing, what is a suburban subdivision but a housing compound, ordered rows of 2-car garages with attached houses, and a built-in demand for car sales to be financed, insured, maintained, replaced and road infrastructure greasily constructed.

Which leads to the viaduct. Be it a new, even uglier one or a tunnel, its cost for maintaining even higher levels of automobile and travel dependency will be reflected in higher costs of living.

Support the People’s Waterfront Coalition group’s call for a surface boulevard and dream. Surely, we’d all rather not suffer any further this Corporate Institution nightmare? This group indignantly opposes the surface boulevard idea. They make more money financing cars than housing.

I don’t think there’s anything that will help those who’ve already been foreclosed on. They’re just SOL – Somewhat Out of Luck.

  24. Wells spews:

    Thursday, 3/9/06 at 1:42 pm

Banker Bob, Just tell me you DON’T make more money financing car sales than financing subdivisions that guarantee the need for cars. Cost of living is directly related to the amount of money spent, dedicated or otherwise budgeted for travel expenses. Lower the need for long-distance travel, and the cost of living will go down. Why can’t people understand this? Too much static, too much engine noise?

  25. Wells spews:

  26. Banker Bob spews:

    Thursday, 3/9/06 at 2:20 pm

    Wells,

Here’s a hint: the “S” really doesn’t stand for “Somewhat.”

The real money in banking is made off of wealthy individuals (who really don’t need to borrow) and businesses. Financing cars is profitable at the dealer level, but banks would prefer not to be involved in at the consumer level: it’s just to messy, what with all those credit checks and possible repos. It’s much easier not to deal with the riff-raff.

Wells, if I understand you correctly, the financing of auto purchases, coupled with the worldwide auto industry, has caused the subrurbs to exist?? Gee, all thin time I thought people just preferred to live in a less crowded environment. You know, away from the riff-raff.

DOJ INVESTIGATION REVEALS NUMEROUS FBI WIRETAP ABUSES

“Justice Dept. Report Cites F.B.I. Violations
    “By ERIC LICHTBLAU

“WASHINGTON, March 8 — The Federal Bureau of Investigation found apparent violations of its own wiretapping and other intelligence-gathering procedures more than 100 times in the last two years, and problems appear to have grown more frequent … a Justice Department report released Wednesday said.

“While some of these instances were considered technical glitches, the report, from the department’s inspector general, characterized others as ‘significant,’ including wiretaps that were much broader in scope than approved by a court and others that were allowed to continue for weeks or sometimes months longer than was authorized.

“In one instance, the F.B.I. received the full content of 181 telephone calls … instead of merely the billing and toll records as authorized … the bureau conducted physical searches that had not been properly authorized. …”

Memo #2 to trollfucks: McDermott didn’t wiretap anyone. He merely accepted a tape someone handed to him. McDermott isn’t a lawyer and didn’t know there might be a legal problem with the tape.

Memo #3 to trollfucks: The tape given to McDermott was of a meeting of GOP congressmen and officials that disclosed corruption and sinister plotting by these congresmen and officials, so releasing the tape was in the public interest.

Memo #4 to trollfucks: The Bushies are illegally wiretapping American citizens who have done nothing wrong. You can’t say that about the GOP crooks on the tape given to McDermott.

The New Age Hippies are Luddites. They are trying to create a form of Utopia…heaven on earth. They want others to live a more “controlled” lifestyle as they have chosen….and will do anything to see that happen. They have used the Growth Management Act as a weapon to gut economies outside the I-5 corridor. The only problem is the books they read (like Road to Nowhere) and the pied pipers they follow (like David Korten) never predict the unintended consequences of their folly.

The Commission recommended no further action after considering staff’s investigative findings that showed the 2005 Pelz King County Campiang was discontinued after March 2004 when he became a candidate for Seattle City Council and that all reports were filed and available to the public at least one year prior to the 2005 election.”

Today’s homes are cleaner, more comfortable and healthier as well as more energy efficient. If it weren’t for people like me, Mr Cynical would be complaining about even higher electricity costs.

I do not advocate complete abolition of cars; only a reduction of their use by at least half, and that future urban growth be so directed to benefit more efficient forms of travel, walking, mass transit, bicycling. OK, let’s stop the ignorant throwing out of geologic terms. All of Seattle is not a “liqifaction zone” The Duwamish mouth, SODO and Pioneer Square are. Large portions of the city (Northgate, Ballard, Queen Anne, and much, much more) are not. And modern construction techniques can address most liquifaction issues. I can show you a building in Poioneer Square which is on piles and held whils the walks around it settled after the quake. Of course if the potential 9.0 hits, it won’t matter, but that has nothing to do with liquifaction.

Roger and Gang did you say you had a Fire Chief name Johnson living in your neighborhood?

    http://www.azcentral.com/commu.....07-ON.html

Leroy Donald Johnson was caught this weekend in a barn with his pants down, literally, according to a sheriff’s office report.

“You caught me … I tried to (expletive) your sheep,” Johnson told his neighbor, according to the report.

But the Mesa Fire Department deputy fire chief changed his story when a sheriff’s deputy arrived on his doorstep minutes later, denying anything happened. advertisement

Johnson, 52, was jailed on suspicion of disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing after the neighbor told investigators he found Johnson, unzipped and holding a sheep down on its side.

That’s the sanitized version. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office report released Monday night is a little more graphic.

Johnson’s neighbor told sheriff’s deputies he was called home Saturday afternoon when his 13-year-old daughter saw Johnson drag one of their sheep into a barn.

    Info for Roger and Gang;

    Bush ain’t Hitler… he’s a Hirohito
Katie McKy – Raw Story Columnist
    Published: February 26, 2006
    http://rawstory.com/news/2006/Bush_aint_Hitler…__hes_Hirohito_0226.html

We understand something new through something familiar. To comprehend Bush, many compare him to Hitler. Here and abroad, he’s been deemed America’s Hitler. It follows then, that neocons would be considered neonazis-and they sometimes are.

But neither comparison is apt. Hitler is without peer. About 35,000,000 deaths can be attributed to Hitler and his swarm. Another 20,000,000 died due to his allies. Cities were leveled. That man(iac) attacked in every possible direction. If he could have declared war on the Earth’s core and clouds, he would have. And the centerpiece of Hitler’s horror was the institutionalization of genocide in the concentration camps.

Bush lacks full equivalencies. His wars aren’t world war. He only attacks to the east: the Middle East. And Gitmo isn’t Auschwitz.

Behind a podium, Bush also can’t compare to Hitler. Hitler mesmerized. At best, Bush amuses. At worst, he leaves liberals and moderates wondering why anyone voted for a man that believes the people of Greece are “Grecians.”

There are also formative differences. Hitler endured peril. He fought in WWI. Then Hitler rioted and was imprisoned. Bush was swaddled. He didn’t attend the finest schools by merit. He was excused from the Guard by privilege.

    http://www.byrd2006.com/wiretap/

The United States Constitution has served this country for more than 200 years. Our system of checks and balances ensures that our freedoms are protected.

There is evidence that the Bush Administration may have broken the law, and most certainly has violated the spirit of the Constitution, and the public trust by spying on American citizens without a court order.

We, the undersigned, believe that no President is above the law. We demand a Constitutional check on the Administration’s illegal wiretapping. We join Senator Byrd in calling for a nonpartisan, independent commission to investigate and determine the legality of the President’s actions.

The Constitution is the people’s shield — a shield of liberty — and we must not let that shield turn to rust.

Lee County’s Democratic headquarters had its second break-in in almost as many years this week.

Thieves ignored computer equipment and other valuables, and took the party’s financial records and voter data, said Lyndia Bradley, Lee County’s Democratic chairwoman.

“This was a very targeted, purposeful break-in,” she said Wednesday. “They were obviously interested in certain things, not things you sell on the street for money.”

Computers were vandalized, but there was no sign of forced entry.

The office is located on Park Meadow Drive in south Fort Myers.

Bradley said the office is not staffed daily this time of year, and she and others were last in the office March 1.

    The theft was discovered Monday.

The party’s headquarters had a similar break-in shortly before the 2004 elections when the office was in a different location near the intersection of Fowler Street and Colonial Boulevard.

Thieves vandalized the office and stole records and computers in that incident.

And just before the November 2004 presidential election, vans used to carry voters to register to vote, and cast early ballots had their tires slashed outside Kerry-Edwards headquarters in Royal Palm Square in Fort Myers.

The vans carried pro-Democrat signs and bumper stickers.

Democratic campaign worker Annie Estlund remembered that incident because she volunteered in that office

Lee’s jobless rate in January was 2.3 percent and December’s rate was revised to 2.2 percent, a tenth of a percent lower than previously reported, according to data from the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation. In January 2005, Lee’s rate was 3.5 percent.

Only Wakulla County, located south of Tallahassee, reported a lower rate of 2.2 percent in January.

Collier County reported a 2.4 percent jobless rate and Charlotte County reported a jobless rate of 3.1 percent.

For those who have multiple rabbits, we ask that you only complete ONE survey for ONE rabbit in your household. Please choose the rabbit that you have owned for at least 3 months and whose name begins with the letter(s) closest to the beginning of the alphabet. For example, if your rabbits are named Bonnie and Rex and you have owned both for at least 3 months, only complete the survey for Bonnie. If your rabbits’ names are Bonnie and Ben, only answer the survey for Ben.

There are three separate surveys; which survey you take will depend on the spay/neuter status of the rabbit about whom you are completing the survey.
