Join us tonight for a fun-filled evening of politics under the influence at the Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally. We meet at 8PM at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E.

We will have two special guests this evening: George Fearing, a Democrat running to replace (non)Doc Hastings in the 4th congressional district, and Jimmy McCabe of McCranium, who is running as a write-in candidate for Richland City Council Position 3.

Tonight’s theme song: I Ran (So Far Away) by A Flock of Seagulls.

Drinking Liberally

by Darryl — Tuesday, 10/16/07, 3:41 pm

Join us tonight for a fun-filled evening of politics under the influence at the Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally. We meet at 8PM at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E.

One of tonight’s activity will include taking bets on when Rep. Dave Reichert’s spokesperson Mike Shields gets back to David Postman with an explanation for his incorrect claim that Reichert out-fund-raised Darcy Burner last quarter. (My prediction is 5:30 pm this Friday.)

Tonight’s theme song: Going Down by Jeff Beck, in honor of the recent deflation of Rep. Reichert’s already lackluster fundraising totals for the quarter. Oh…and in anticipation of his probable fate in 2008.

If you find yourself in the Tri-Cities area this evening, check out McCranium for the local Drinking Liberally. Otherwise, check out the Drinking Liberally web site for dates and times of a chapter near you.

Drinking Liberally

by Goldy — Tuesday, 10/9/07, 5:08 pm

The Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally meets tonight (and every Tuesday), 8PM at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E. Come join us for some hoppy ale and hopped up conversation.

Last week Gen. Wesley Clark dropped in unannounced… this week, who knows? The folks from Simple Majority will be there telling us why we should all vote Yes on 4204, and writer, pundit, activist Ari Melber (formerly of Seattle, now of The Nation) plans to drop by to slum with us bloggers in the political backwater he left behind.

The Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally meets tonight (and every Tuesday), 8PM at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E.

Drinking Liberally… Columbia City!

by Goldy — Wednesday, 9/19/07, 2:50 pm

I love a good beer and I love talking politics, so I’m especially excited to welcome to my neck of the woods the new Southeast Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally, which meets tonight (and the 3rd Wednesday of every month,) 8PM at the Columbia City Ale House, 4914 Rainier Ave S.

I’m told Bill Sherman might take a break from the campaign trail to chat up us Southies, and I should be getting there a little after 9PM. I look forward to seeing all my South End friends.

Drinking Liberally

by Darryl — Tuesday, 9/11/07, 5:30 pm

Join us tonight for a fun-filled evening of politics under the influence at the Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally. We meet at 8PM at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E.

Our host Nick Beaudreot asks that you bring a pin or bumper sticker to help “redecorate” the Republican Street sign kindly donated by Mayor Greg Nickels. If so, Nick might just buy you a pint. If your sticker is pre-1992, it might be worth an entire pitcher.

Other than that, the hot topic for tonight might be about some ad that some organization took out making predictions about some guy. Or it might be about whether the deadly, costly, and colossal fuck-up the Iraq invasion has been so far, will suddenly get all better now that many neighborhoods have undergone ethnic “tidying up.”

Join us tonight for a fun-filled evening of politics under the influence at the Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally. We meet at 8PM at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E.

No doubt a hot topic for tonight will be the new GAO report suggesting that the Bush administration is cooking the books on sectarian violence in Iraq. (Perhaps another hot topic will be the shameless way that Republicans have blown off the restless leg syndrome constituency….)

Drinking Liberally: Where Are All The Kickin’ Election Night Parties, Ya’ll?

by Will — Tuesday, 8/21/07, 6:45 pm

Will Bruce Harrell sing the Husky Fight Song tonight? Will “passionate Latina” Venus Velazquez come away with the win (she’s passionate)? Does Bill Sherman have the hot hand, or is it enviro-boy Keith Scully who’ll be the next King County law top dog? Will Joe Schwajajaya survive to challenge the Nice Lady From The Newspaper? Do people even know what the Port Commission does?

If you know where the parties are, put ’em in the comments.

There’s always the Montlake Ale House…

Join us at the Seattle chapter of Drinking Liberally for another fun-filled evening of politics under the influence. We meet at 8PM at the Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Avenue E.

Tonight we’ll raise a toast to Republican family values—specifically, to even more Republicans realizing that they need to spend more time with their family.

Our Seattle hosts are Nick Beaudrot of Electoral Math and HorsesAss’ Lee (also at Blog Reload and EFFin’ Unsound).

If you find yourself in the Tri-Cities area this evening, check out McCranium for the local Drinking Liberally. Otherwise, check out the Drinking Liberally web site for dates and times for a chapter near you.

Drinking Liberally in Kent

by Lee — Wednesday, 8/8/07, 11:06 am

Back when Nick Beaudrot and I were talking about trying to revive the stagnant Drinking Liberally chapter here in Seattle, we wondered “How hard can it be? This is Seattle.” It turned out it wasn’t terribly hard, and Nick has made it into one of the most successful chapters in the United States, with regular high-profile guests and a great crowd showing up at the Montlake every Tuesday.

Now it’s time for a challenge. As some of you know, I’m moving from very blue North Seattle to not-so-blue Kent this fall. I’m hoping to start a new chapter down there (probably every other week on a Wednesday or Thursday), but I need some help. The key to a successful chapter is a good location. If you have any suggestions for a bar that could potentially be a host, let me know. So far, the only serious contender I can think of is The Ram at Kent Station, but I’m still getting familiar with the area. And hopefully, when we find a place, I’d love to see those of you in the south end for a pint.

State House Speaker Frank Chopp will be stopping by tonight. Let’s see if we can get him so ripping drunk that he publicly comes out in support of a state income tax.
