I see that today’s Rasmussen Daily Tracking Poll has the Presidential Approval Index at +8, one point higher than yesterday and 700% higher than May 2nd. It’s obvious that our president’s approval is soaring!

some interesting trends in Rasmussen issue polling over the past few months, suggesting the “Democrats Ascendant” storyline is not all it seems to be. Just before last year’s election, the Democrats had a 13 point edge on economic issues, which is now down to 1 point. They even had a 3 point edge on handling national security, but today the GOP has a 7 point lead on those issues (and a 2 point lead on Iraq). Similarly, on taxes a 5 point Democratic lead has become a 6 point Republican lead. Here’s his full table:

The left does itself a disservice when it says anything goes in any circumstance. It’s not like Rush isn’t an easy target – which is a point that is now lost in the endless, mindless debate about the joke.
It is much more interesting when the joke is so good that the person being caricatured thinks he is being praised, as is the case with the right’s embrace of Colbert.

Yeah? Well, depends on to whom you listen. A NBC/WSJ poll that came out March 3rd, 2009 found that by a 48-20 percent margin, Americans believe the Democratic Party would do a better job of getting the U.S. out of recession than the Republican Party.
