- This may be the most ignorant thing anyone has possibly said to anyone ever in any circumstance.

- Why does Thomas Paine hate free enterprise?

- In addition to all of these points, I’m not sure the leaderless Occupy movement and Bane go hand in glove.

- The settlement between Seattle and the DOJ (pdf). I haven’t read it, but most of the commentary about it sounds encouraging. The proof of the pudding will of course be in the eating.

- Charter school advocates are totally above board.

- Not the Olympics, but a great gold medal.

- And as far as I know, this may be the first time ant babies have been given haircuts for science.

1. Anyone else notice that Romney gets numbers wrong an awful lot?

2. I thought there was more money in suicide-vest bomb-making. Only $1500 per capita? Is that before or after all the free money they get by being intransigent?

@3 Keep up the good work Serial Conservative! Your bigoted culture baiting, dog whistle code words will send the liberals into a frothing frenzy, and keep them from discussing Romney’s obviously out of context comments and the continuation and intensification of Bush’s foreign policy agenda.

Romney doesn’t just get numbers wrong. He doesn’t give a damn about factual information. He’s a pathological liar and a sociopath.

Right, because all Palestinians are fanatical terrorists eager to blow themselves up for the cause. There are an awful lot of Palestinians who have had their homes and farmland bulldozed out in the middle of the night and in broad daylight without notice and at gunpoint. When things get too quiet in Gaza or the West Bank, the Israeli Army increases patrols and snipe farmers in their fields and little kids in the streets. The Israeli Army has been repeatedly been caught using butterfly mines spread by helicopter over Palestinian farmland.

If you think those folks are so wealthy, why don’t you go to the West Bank or Gaza and look around. Those people are so poor most of them are dressed in rags and have no shoes. They’ve had their farms and houses confiscated without notice or any recourse to build Israeli settlements to accommodate the Russian, Polish and Hungarian Jews who are moving there by the thousands.

When they get irritated at the water or electricity being shut off, the Army just goes in and shoots the most vocal individuals dead. They aren’t allowed to make a living for themselves. How the hell do you expect people to react to that shit? Would you be willing to compromise with someone who says flat out “give us all your land, forsake your traditional religion, let us execute your political leaders at will and we’ll allow you to live in abject poverty”?

Israel wasn’t magically created, it was imposed on the area by outside military action. The original Israeli leaders were people who themselves used car bombs, assassinations and incredible economic frauds to create Israel in the first place.

I’m just wondering how long Obama needs to be president before our foreign policy agenda is referred to as Obama’s foreign policy agenda.

Of course, I’m also wondering how long Obama needs to be president before he’ll take some responsibility for the economy, too. Some people are just hard to please, I guess. Personal responsibility. What a concept.

7. No Time for Fascists spews:

Romney’s comments appearing to revel in Palestinian poverty were highly unusual.

Is it fair to say this is continuation of the continuation of the conservatives idea of Social Darwinism and herman’s caine “If you are poor, blame yourself”.
Or as it could be like Liberal Scientist commented. “Conservatives like to attack people they perceive as weaker than they are.” A man who has so much money he won’t release his tax forms to show where he hid it all, is attacking a culture in poverty.
Nice candidate you got there.

8. Serial Conservative spews:

I wonder what the Palestinian per-capita GDP would be today if Arafat had signed on in 2000 rather than launching an intifada.

Of course, there might not be all that free money handed to them, so that would have to be taken into consideration.

9. Serial Conservative spews:

Goddamn likely voter polls.

The poll, conducted for The Hill by Pulse Opinion Research, suggests voters see little difference between the candidates on character issues that Democrats have cited as key to Obama’s appeal.

It found 48 percent of voters consider Romney the stronger leader, compared to 44 percent who favored Obama.

http://thehill.com/polls/240917-hill-poll-voters-obama-romney-neck-and-neck-on-issues-of-character

All that money the left will spend portraying Obama as a nice guy might not be so successful if the economy continues to trend downward at current pace. Seems competence means something to people who actually show up to vote:

The poll found 93 percent of voters consider “policies and competence” more important than “likability” when choosing who to support for president.

Time for more anti-dressage ads, I guess.

“Of course, I’m also wondering how long Obama needs to be president before he’ll take some responsibility for the economy, too.”

Of course the president accepts responsibility for the recovery. The real question is, when the fuck will a Republican ever accept responsibilty for the collapse of the economy? Responsibility? Hell, when has a Republican ever accepted responsibility for their fuckups. You never do. Ever. All you do is blame others as you delude yourself that the shit you pull from your ass smells like roses. Responsibility? There’s no evidence that any Republican even understands the meaning of that word.

13. Steve spews:

“policies and competence”

Empty words coming from a mindless shill. Make a case for your candidate. Name five reasons why a Romney presidency would be good for America.

14. Serial Conservative spews:

” … GM is alive.”

I think that’s the second half of what Rujax spews pretty much daily around here.

GM’s share of the U.S. market fell to 18.1% in the first half of this year from 19.9% a year earlier.

http://www.latimes.com/business/money/la-fi-mo-gm-ewanick-fired-20120730,0,1002620.story?track=rss

Ah, but GM is selling more cars than last year, I’m told. Sales up 4%. That doesn’t sound bad, until compared with the rest of the industry:

Through June, the automaker has sold a little more than 1.3 million vehicles in the U.S., a 4% gain in a period when the industry has grown sales 15%.

Perhaps the scariest thing about GM is how they’re selling those cars.

Subprime loans is how:

GM Financial auto loans to customers with FICO scores below 660 rose from 87% of total loans in Q4 2010 to 93% in Q1 2012.

The worse the FICO score, the bigger the increase. From Q4 2010 to Q1 2012, GM Financial loans to customers with the worst FICO scores — below 540 — shot up 79% to more than $2.3 billion. The second worst category, 540-599, rose 28% from about $3.4 billion to $4.3 billion.

Prime loans, those above 660, dropped 42% to $676 million.

http://news.investors.com/article/620090/201207271807/gm-risky-subprime-auto-loans-fuel-sales.htm

To summarize, a government-owned corporation is lagging behind the free market in the industry, and is stooping to the subprime market at a rate about a third higher than the industry as a whole. Gotta make numbers? Sell to those who are least able to buy.

OK, GM is alive, with an awful lot of taxpayer subsidy. But for how long?

15. Serial Conservative spews:

Those words – ‘policies and competence’ – were from the piece in thehill.com to which I linked.

You don’t like it? Take it up with them, Doctor Steve.

16. Puddybud spews:

Of course the president accepts responsibility for the recovery. The real question is, when the fuck will a Republican ever accept responsibilty for the collapse of the economy?

Oh Steve… get off of the Stupid Solution. You exhibiting 24 hour moonbat memory malady.

In October 2009 Obummer claims we are in recovery. In 2010 he keeps blaming Bush for the “recession” (what happened to recovery) since Obummer’s original comment in 2009 was proven wrong. In 2011 Debbie Dingbat Wasserman Schultz claims DUMMOCRAPTS own the economy. Unemployment hits 10%. So the BLS revises the workforce downward so the unemployment numbas drop. Now it’s holding above 8% for 41 months. We were told the Porkulus and Son of Porkulus would keep unemployment below 8%. Well we see that EPIC FAYLE.

So who owns what Steve? Your side keeps making these “claims” and “counter claims”.

17. Serial Conservative spews:

@ 16

Doctor Steve repeatedly brings up spending excess and poor controls of spending by the Bush administration as an excuse for Obama to do the exact same thing.

It’s a weird argument – Bush43 was incompetent so it’s alright for Obama to be incompetent, too.

Wasn’t Obama supposed to be different? And if it turns out he’s not, what’s the argument for keeping him in office? It’s getting harder and harder to make that argument, but the left keeps trying.

18. Steve spews:

“You don’t like it?”

You’re the one who doesn’t like something. Your own candidate. You are still incapable of offering a single reason, let alone five, why a Romney presidency would be good for America.

Come on, Bob, tell us about your candidate’s “policies and competence”.

19. Steve spews:

“Doctor Steve repeatedly brings up spending excess and poor controls of spending by the Bush administration as an excuse for Obama to do the exact same thing.”

Buy yourself a clue, Bob. Republican spending excesses go back decades. Reagan ran up deficits. Bush 41 ran up deficits. Bush 43 ran up deficits. Hell, as you ran up trillions in debt unnder Bush 43 we heard from you that “deficits don’t matter”. It certainly didn’t matter if you held both congress and the White House because, as the nation witnessed, you still ran up deficits.

What are you going to do that’s different, Bob? Anything at all? Given your dismal track record on deficit spending, why on earth should anybody believe you when you refuse to even discuss what your candidate would do that’s good for America?

“policies and competence”

Make a case for your candidate.

20. Steve spews:

Mitt Romney, “We can almost speak in shorthand,” Mr. Romney said in an interview. “We share common experiences and have a perspective and underpinning which is similar.” [...] “Before I made a statement of that nature, I’d get on the phone to my friend Bibi Netanyahu and say: ‘Would it help if I say this? What would you like me to do?’”

Bibi Netanyahu, “I remember him for sure, but I don’t think we had any particular connections” “I knew him and he knew me, I suppose.”

Seeing as how you are either unwilling or simply incapable of talking about your candidate’s “policies and competence”, would you care to talk about this instead, Bob? What does this reveal about your candidate?

Your candidate insulted Great Britain, and now Bibi Netanyahu makes him look like a liar. That’s some tour abroad your candidate is having. Would you please explain how anything Romney’s done on this tour would inspire voter confidence in your candidate’s “competence”?

21. Serial Conservative spews:

@ 20

You provided no link but here’s one:

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/08/us/politics/mitt-romney-and-benjamin-netanyahu-are-old-friends.html?pagewanted=all

Sounds like they went way back.

Also sounds like Bibi had enough of an impression of Romney to tell stories about him during their time together at Bain:

Over dinner years later, aides said, Mr. Netanyahu would reveal the depth of his own scorekeeping, when he quipped, with mostly playful chagrin, that Mr. Romney had been “Henderson’s favorite.”

“His star,” the prime minister said of Mr. Romney’s time at Boston Consulting, “had already risen.”

So, Doctor Steve, I would say you have one unsourced statement contradicted by an entire article in the NYT.

I wasn’t there, you weren’t there. The article I provided talks about frequent meetings over a period of more than 30 years, and a sharing of advice between the two men that involved business and government.

Doctor Steve, how many relationships like this did Obama have at the time he was nominated by his party?

Other than the one with Bill Ayers, I mean.

22. Steve spews:

“Doctor Steve, how many”

A question from the guy who refuses to answer questions. Don’t you think you should go first, Bob? Name five reasons why a Romney presidency would be good for America. Good luck with that.

23. Serial Conservative spews:

Reducing the federal deficit, very important to 86% of Americans.

Taxing the rich, meh. Not so much.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/156347/Americans-Next-President-Prioritize-Jobs-Corruption.aspx

What do we make of this? Well if we’re going to reduce the deficit and we don’t care so much about taxing the rich………….

Hey, we can always cut spending. Even looking at the results for Obama supporters, only 32% think taxing the rich is extremely important while 37% find reducing the deficit extremely important. And that’s among Obama supporters, not a blended sample.

Just sayin’.

24. Steve spews:

“Other than the one with Bill Ayers, I mean.”

It’s that all you have? That’s it? Go ahead, Bob, describe the relationship between the president and Bill Ayers. Let’s see what you pull from your ass this time.

25. Serial Conservative spews:

@ 24

‘Just a guy who lives in my neighborhood…..’

Nothing to see here. You’re right, couldn’t have been Ayers.

I must have been thinking of some other long-term relationship Obama has had, that gave him foreign policy chops when he was a Senator. Wasn’t Ayers. Maybe Khalidi? We might know if we saw the tape.

Maybe it wasn’t him, either.

I’m sure it was someone of significance.

26. Steve spews:

“Reducing the federal deficit, very important to 86% of Americans.”

How do you square that with, “Deficits don’t matter”?? Your party has no track record of accomplishment when it comes reducing deficits, Bob. You’ve talked about it forever, but when you get the chance to walk the talk, you run up deficits by the trillions and make lame excuses about it like “Deficits don’t matter”.

You have a track record on deficits, Bob. Of one failure after another. One broken promise after another. Why on earth should anyone believe you now, especially when you refuse to articulate any reason whatsoever why a Romney presidency would be good for America?

27. Steve spews:

@25 WTF are you babbling about?

Speaking of one failure after another, make a case for electing your candidate, Bob.

28. Serial Conservative spews:

This might not be as big as a speech in Berlin.

GDANSK, Poland — Lech Walesa, the Nobel Prize winner and former Polish president, effectively endorsed Mitt Romney for president here Monday.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/election-2012/post/lech-walesa-to-romney-get-your-success—be-successful/2012/07/30/gJQAAwgYKX_blog.html

Especially since a Nobel Peace Prize doesn’t mean shit anymore.

But it’s noteworthy. Obama certainly hasn’t done much to make the Poles feel very secure. Quite the opposite, in fact.

29. Steve spews:

Speaking of failures, Bob, did you ever come up with a justifiable reason to label Trayvon Martin a “thug”? Well, other than you being a dumbfuck racist gladly swallowing any right-wing lie posted about Martin on a hate-filled racist site?

30. Steve spews:

@28 Geez, Bob, that doesn’t strike me as making a case for a Romney presidency. Can we all just agree that this is something that you are simply incapable of communicating to anybody?

Oh hell, just tell us what your candidate is going to do to make the Poles feel secure. You can do that, can’t you? You just ragged on the president. Tell us what you’ve got.

I called him a thug in training. It’s appropriate, I think, to use that term to describe a kid on his third suspension from school, caught with drug residue in a pipe, who had a history of a violent confrontation with a bus driver, and apparently was walking around school with a bunch of silverware in his backpack during some sort of earlier incident.

A couple more episodes like those and he would have been a thug. Had the Zimmerman incident ended differently I probably could have used the term thug.

Given his young, delicate innocence, I watered it down to some extent.

33. Steve spews:

You left something out, Bob. “The Solidarity union quickly distanced itself from Walesa’s comments, releasing a statement saying that it “is in no way involved in the organization of this meeting…We have learned from our friends in the American trade union central AFL-CIO representing over 12 million workers about Mitt Romney’s support for the attacks against trade unions and labor rights.””

But you’re not exactly down with Solidarity much, are you?

34. Puddybud spews:

I’m seriously bored this go round. It’s not that we don’t have good people running, I’m jazzed about Andy Billig running for the state senate & Laurie Jinkins re-uppping in the house. That John Snyder and Bob Apple might shut out the Republican’s in WA-03 for an all Democratic general election vote over in Spokane is cool as all get out. I’m pulling for Snyder in that one. Also in Spokane we’ve got John Roskelley throwing his hat in the ring for another term as a Spokane County commissioner. See, there’s good stuff going on.

But, I’m just not that excited or interested this time around.

37. Steve spews:

As an analogy, Obama could have taken from the UAW during the GM bankruptcy (Chrysler, too), but did not. Does that make what Obama did a bad thing, in the eyes of HAers?

Yes, Medicare D costs money. So does Social Security.

Why is it disliked? Because costs escalated above the gimmicked level touted? You guys think that won’t happen with ACA?

Serious question. What’s the problem with Medicare D that makes it viewed differently from Social Security and ACA, both programs that will cost far more than ‘officially’ envisioned?

Why is Medicare Part D a pariah around here?

The program itself is mostly OK, but Bush never paid for it. Instead he added it onto the national debt. You know, the debt your debt creators now blame Obama for.

As Cheney said to Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill, “You know, Paul, Reagan proved that deficits don’t matter. We won the mid-term elections, this is our due.”

The program itself is mostly OK, but Bush never paid for it. Instead he added it onto the national debt.

So, again, how is this different from ACA, which is added on to the national debt because it isn’t paid for? Recall it was scored as a little less than a trillion dollars over the first 10 years, mostly because the revenues flow in far sooner than the costs begin to add up.

I understand that Medicare D wasn’t paid for. What I don’t understand is how it differs from ACA in that regard.

I’d argue the same with Social Security, but then we’d have to have the fight over whether Social Security really affects the deficit…..

So I won’t.

Not necessarily. If the corporation learns that workers will accept less pay, when the tax is lifted, they don’t raise the pay — they increase their profits.

Whatever happened to market forces? The ‘invisible hand of the free market’ or something like that, which will cause the employees to demand higher pay and band together so that they are treated fairly.

Those forces must not exist this afternoon.

93. Steve spews:

“So, taxing the corporations means the workers earn less.”

So pathetically weak. Workers are already earning less and and less, Bob, even as you blather on and on. And it’s no big secret that you’re feverishly working to lower wages and destroy worker rights, along with pensions, social safety nets and America’s middle class. Oh, and as you do that, you hate on people of color and the poor. Such a guy.

I see that you still can’t come up with five reasons why a Romney presidency would be good for America. You probably shouldn’t feel too bad about that particular fail, Bob, seeing as how your party and candidate can’t come up with anything either. But keep telling yourselves that this won’t come around to bite you where it really fucking hurts.

If you put several thousand hate-crazed people in the same room together for a few days, no one should be surprised at what comes of it.

Right, Doctor Steve? You’re fully indoctrinated, aren’t you?

99. Steve spews:

“I’m quie OK with dullard.”

It’s too bad for you that your worthless opinion doesn’t elect presidents. America deserves better than someone who can’t come up with a reason for anybody to vote for him. Add boring to the mix and your candidate offers what? Nothing.

Your candidate will be lucky to survive his own fucking convention. Why? Because your own party can’t fucking stand him. Hell, you can’t come up with a single reason why a Romney presidency would be good for America and neither can he.

100. Steve spews:

“I assume you’ll have Martin, Lawrence, Rachel, Big Ed, and Tingles to translate for you. In MSNBCSpeak”

You assume much and know nothing. Hell, I don’t need their translation. I have have my Wingnut-Speak Decoder app, Bob. It just translated your comment as, “I’m so fucking stupid that I can’t come up with a single reason for anybody to vote for my candidate”. Yup, it’s working just fine, Bob.

You might want to quit making shit up, Bob, and stay in the here and now if you hope to win a presidential election in 2012. Sadly for you, the here and now presents you with a candidate despised by your party, who is boring and, like you, can’t express a single reason why his presidency would be good for America. Romney has plenty of time to define himself. He’s not hated, as you have stated repeatedly. He isn’t adored like Obama is, but adoration of an incompetent individual hasn’t done much for us, has it?

For a guy hated as much as you claim Romney is, the money’s flowing pretty well into his and the RNCs coffers, I’d say.

Continue to flail, swear, demand, accuse, and whatever else you do, Doctor Steve.

I’ll continue to push your buttons.

I’m with you on everything, but that last bit. I’m not OK with dullards. It’s not just Romney, John Kerry’s the same, Obama’s not much better. David Brooks is the fucking worst, he should just retire. If David Brooks died I’m sure it would be a boring death. Howard Kurtz: snooze fest. Nancy Pelosi, nails on a chalkboard and clueless. John Bohner’s an idiot. Paul Ryan’s a sociopath. Pretty much everybody that passes for the “leadership class” in America today, should resign from whatever it is they’re doing and just go away. They suck. I like to call Patty Murray the senator from 1998.

The people that got you into a mess are not the people that can get you out of that mess. Most of the people at the top can’t even properly define the mess we’re in. But, don’t worry Twitter will save us… Yeah right.

“I’ll continue to push your buttons.”

Like I’ve said before, you have no fucking clue. You need to refocus on preventing blacks, hispanics, the young and the old from voting. It’s your only hope, Bob, both now and in the future.

@1 Israeli GDP outperforms Palestinian GDP in the same sense that North Korean peasants outperform Camp 22 inmates.

112. Roger Rabbit spews:

@87 No, our argument is that government costs money and everyone should pay for it, not just wage earners. Republicans want to exempt all non-wage income from taxation. All we’re saying is everyone shares the cost of government, no special privileged classes, no Leona Helmsley “only the little people pay taxes” tax schemes.

113. Steve spews:

Here’s something else Republicans are always lying about, from Huffpo.

In another interview on CNN’s Situation Room, Israel’s defense minister, Ehud Barak, told Blitzer that Obama’s administration had done more to support the relationship between the two nations than any he could remember.

“I think that from my point of view as defense minister they are extremely good, extremely deep and profound. I can see long years, [sic] administrations of both sides of political aisle deeply supporting the state of Israeli and I believe that reflects a profound feeling among the American people,” Barak said. “But I should tell you honestly that this administration under President Obama is doing in regard to our security more than anything that I can remember in the past.”

114. rhp6033 spews:

Is Puddy really keep trying to shovel that argument that some minor mistakes in the Olympics prove Romney was “right???”

The point is, dumbbut, that it’s incredibly stupid to go on a foreign trip which your PR people say will demonstrate your foreign policy and diplomatic skills, and then insult your hosts shortly after getting off the airplane.

And the Prime Minister WAS right – the London Olympics are incredibly more complicated than the Salt Lake City Olympics ever were – the Summer games are inherently MUCH bigger than the winger games, and putting them on in a major cosmopolitan city with centuries-old street layouts can’t be compared with putting them on in the very small Salt Lake City.

Of course, that’s not the REAL reason why Romney went to London, to play diplomat. He went there because that’s where the cameras were going to be, and more importantly, that’s where the money is. He attended a fundraiser on foreign soil taking money from foreign bankers to influence U.S. banking policy. Not only that, but the very people giving him money were the ones responsible for the LIBOR scandel in Britain, which is about to spread to the U.S. Those bankers were just hedging their bets, they want assurance that Romney will be a “bought man” who will make sure the U.S. Justice Dept. doesn’t seek to extradite them and put them in jail.

115. rhp6033 spews:

By the way, what would have been the right-wing reaction in 2008 if Obama had headed straight to Europe for fund-raising and tell U.S. allies that the U.S. foreign policy is wrong? Whatever became of the Republican insistence that U.S. politicians, and even entertainers, should not criticize U.S. policy abroad?

Just another example of the hypocracy of the Republicans.

116. rhp6033 spews:

By the way, it’s time to remind everyone that Puddy still hasn’t repudiated Glen Beck’s comments that the teenage victims of a white supremecist shooter in Sweden were somehow desearving of their fate because they were going to the equivilent of a Hitler Youth camp.

At one point he claimed he did, but he couldn’t point to the thread where he did so. It’s such a simple thing to do, yet for Puddy it seems so hard. It must be profoundly embarrasing to align yourself with white supremecist killers when you, yourself, are not white.

117. Steve spews:

@115 President Obama didn’t have to go to Europe to get wingnuts in an uproar. Republicans have been quite content to get in uproars over the shit they make up about him. It’s like they can’t run against the real man and his actual record or something. Of course, they spend zillions on consulting, so they are likely well aware that they have a real problem on their hands if they ran against the real President Obama.

118. Michael spews:

@114

Romney, as usual, is on both sides of the issue.

“After being here a couple days, it looks to me like London is ready,” Mitt Romney

“The stories about the private security firm not having enough people, the supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials — that obviously is not something which is encouraging.” Mitt Romney

119. Michael spews:

@113

The list of things The Republican’s aren’t lying about is quite a bit shorter than the list of things they are lying about. But, does anyone really care? Isn’t it all a bunch of gibberish that we’ve all heard before, that does nothing but rile up a handful of people on both sides, that no one else is listening to and that most everyone else wishes would just STFU?

We’ve been arguing about the same shit for my entire adult life and all that arguing hasn’t fixed anything. It’s time to try something new.

120. Puddybud spews:

The point is, dumbbut, that it’s incredibly stupid to go on a foreign trip which your PR people say will demonstrate your foreign policy and diplomatic skills, and then insult your hosts shortly after getting off the airplane.

Shorter rhpee6033 translation: Lie through your teeth like a DUMMOCRAPT and smile and say all is great!

These are small problems?

1) The private paid Olympic security force also used for airport security allowing known terrorists into England.

2) Ticket snafu for family members not being allowed in.

3) Ticket snafu changing the ticketing and not telling the venues the change.

4) Ticket snafu where families can’t get tickets because the ones sent to VIPs are not available.

5) There are way more you can find in the British press.

More faulty logic from rhpee5033.

121. Puddybud spews:

Yup: Romney’s plan would indeed cut billions from cops, firefighters and teachers
By Greg Sargent
Yesterday Mitt Romney claimed that it was “ completely absurd” of the Obama campaign to argue that he favors cutbacks in cops, firefighters and teachers. “The federal government doesn’t pay for teachers, firefighters or policemen,” Romney said, adding that they were paid by states and localities.

What’s getting lost in the back and forth here is that Romney’s actual economic plan would, in fact, cut billions of dollars in federal money that goes to cops, firefighters, and teachers — perhaps more than $10 billion a year, in fact.

YEAH!!!!

Fuck firefighters…fuck teachers.

Butt being like most libtards here, you and your friends can’t fathom the truth from Piers or HuffPo. So, y’all attack Romney for telling the truth.

Let’s hope there is no terror attack at the Olympics. Because if there is, no one will remember what Romney said unless someone truthfully discusses the G4S security issues. Why did GB and the Olymic organizers bring in the military to supplement the security?

To provide context to Doctor Steve’s cheerleading, I should point out that Barak’s comments came two days after

http://news.yahoo.com/israel-thanks-obama-security-agreement-173254948.html

Obama signed a law handing Israel $70M so that Israel could defend itself from the Palestinian rockets.

I suppose I could make two points:

1. Barak thanked Obama for doing something for Israel that most leftists would object to – helping Israel against the Palestinians.

2. It’s an incredible coinky-dinky, isn’t it, that the moolah flows from The One to Israel just as Romney arrives to meet with Bibi. Almost as coinky-dinky as when Obama hastily scheduled a speech to be given just before a foreign policy speech that Dick Cheney gave a couple of years back. That’s one nervous president we have. GOP investigators fault five ATF officials in gun-tracking fiasco

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-fast-and-furious-20120731,0,2334119.story

It’s the first of three reports. At least one of the next two reports will feature Eric Holder’s involvement.

This leaked report isn’t about Holder. But if Obama waives his previous Executive Privilege claim, the last couple of reports will probably be withheld while the investigators look into the emails they have been trying to review.

If there’s nothing in the withheld emails, no reason not to release them, right? Especially if a deal gets cut, say, to release them in exchange for no leaks and for no report until after the election.

Or maybe those emails are so damning that Obama can’t let them see the light of day.

Hard to know who’s being dishonest. But it’s in the LAT.

Poor judgment?
Tone-deaf?

149. proud leftist spews:

Puddy,
You don’t get it. Whether Romney spoke “the truth” or not, it was incredibly stupid what he said. First, if “true,” it was far too late to do anything about it. Second, he was criticizing one of our closest allies on its turf. You do understand how stupid that is, don’t you? David Cameron and Boris Johnson, both Tories, mocked him for that. Romney is not ready for primetime.

151. Serial Conservative spews:

How so?

The Olympics are sport. Romney said something about Britain’s preparation for the London Games that some found offensive.

Britain had soldiers, more than a few, die defending the Falklands in a dispute with Argentina in the 80s. Britain is fighting with the US, essentially aiding the US, in Afghanistan. They’ve got our back. And we take a neutral position on their possession?

Wouldn’t Brits take offense to that? It’s a pretty straightforward question, I think.

What’s the convolution?

At the urging of Valerie Jarrett, President Barack Obama canceled the operation to kill Osama bin Laden on three separate occasions before finally approving the May 2, 2011 Navy SEAL mission, according to an explosive new book scheduled for release August 21. The Daily Caller has seen a portion of the chapter in which the stunning revelation appears.

In ”Leading From Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide for Him,“ Richard Miniter writes that Obama canceled the “kill” mission in January 2011, again in February, and a third time in March. Obama’s close adviser Valerie Jarrett persuaded him to hold off each time, according to the book.

183. Liberal Scientist is a a dirty fucking hippie spews:

As I read this this morning, I knew puddles was going to show up slobbering over a Daily Caller ‘bombshell’ – and, lo and behold, there he goes, right on time.

The Media Matters (OH NOEZ! SOROS!!) article I linked to thoroughly debunks whatever talking point puddles was striving to make.

It had me thinking…the premise they’re putting forward is that Obama ‘killed’ a mission to take out bin Laden three times in the winter/spring 2011.
Then, apparently, he authorized it, and it was a smashing success.

Even if you accept their ‘interpretation’ (which the MediaMatters article completely undermines), you have a situation where Obama was directly and actively managing the development of a military operation that was ultimately successful. He did this within 2.5 years of taking over the Presidency, and it was something George W. Bush could not do in 7 years, despite making the “War on Terrah” his signature accomplishment.

Once again we confront the eternal question provoked by interactions with Republicans: “Stupid or Lying?”

184. rhp6033 spews:

Hmmm, Romney’s camp was ectstatic over the “endorsement” of Lech Walensa. They hoped to turn it into a trifecta, gaining the support of American labor unions, catholics, and Polish descendents.

But Solidarity immediately issued a press release saying it had nothing to do with Romney’s trip, and that in their view Romney was against the trade union movement as evidenced by his own words (relatively recently) and actions while at Baine Capital. Others pointed out that just last year, Walesa wrote that in his opinion, “temporary communism” was the only hope for poorer countries in Africa.

Then Romney gave a speech, which was marred by the crowd shouting “Obama! Obama!”. It’s not clear whether they disagreed with Romney, or whether Republican references to “our next president” caused them to believe that Romney was merely the advance man for President Obama, whom they expected to appear next.

Finally, Der Spiegel, Germany’s biggest news magazine, declared Romney to have proven that he isn’t qualified to lead America on the international front.

Oh, and a final note to Puddy: It doesn’t matter whether there were organizational or logistics problems at the Olympics. Every modern Olympics has had their share of them. What IS important that in diplomacy, words DO matter, and even a slight difference in words can make a big difference in results. Romney thought he could make some patronizing statements which would appeal to the home audience and make him look good, and he insulted his hosts. He also referred to the “backside” of 10 Downing Street, which in English popular usage means he was looking out it’s ass. The he gratuitously referred to a meeting with the head of MI6, the existence of which is NEVER officially admitted to by the government or the press (Gee, even I knew that!).

Not ready for prime time, despite spending over eight years campaigning. Obama managed to hit the ground running and quickly bring himself up to speed, but Romney just doesn’t get it.

185. rhp6033 spews:

News Item: Romney, who’s campaign has suffered reverses this week due to mistakes made during his trip to London, Israel, and Poland, has decided to take a cue from his Baine Capital days and issued layoff notices to his entire staff, including himself. Instead, all work on the Romney for President campaign will be out-sourced to China, where they are testing a new high-technology robot to replace the one which suffered failures in it’s initial version.

(Yes, satire intended).

Yes, I saw that – the actual UNION, Solidarity, completely diss’ed the Mittster.

Pretty embarrassing.

I think Mitt’s little international adventure was a COMPLETE DISASTER.
Can you imagine, back in 2008 when Obama went abroad, and spoke before 200000+ in Germany, what the wingnut reaction would have been if he had relentlessly and consistently bombed like the Mittster?

Hmmm, Romney’s camp was ectstatic over the “endorsement” of Lech Walensa. They hoped to turn it into a trifecta, gaining the support of American labor unions, catholics, and Polish descendents.

Provide one little snippet of support for your direct statement that Romney expected to get American labor union support out of this.

Walesa was a symbol of resistance to oppression by communism, essentially a symbol of a struggle for freedom. That’s far different from the US labor movement today.

189. Serial Conservative spews:

@ 184

Finally, Der Spiegel, Germany’s biggest news magazine, declared Romney to have proven that he isn’t qualified to lead America on the international front.

Actually, that quote was from Center-left daily Süddeutsche Zeitung, as Der Spiegel called it. Since I’ve never heard of that paper, I doubt it’s Germany’s biggest.

One paper I HAVE heard of, Die Weit, had this to say, in the same article:

The Middle East is a weak flank for Obama, who has demanded one-sided concessions from Jerusalem, thus casting a massive shadow on the bilateral relationship.

Gee, cherry-picking quotes according to one’s ideology is a game two can play.

Gee, it must be nice to want to go through life without accountability. You’re like the description of a woman in ‘As Good As It Gets’. (“I think of a man, and then I take away reason and accountability.”) I know you’re not a woman but you sure come off as a pussy whiner.

If I wasn’t pushing back against leftist thought I’d just be another Rujax, cheering all things Obama and railing against those dastardly rethuglicans. There are enough Obama kneepads on this site to go around. You’ll understand if I don’t bring my own.

I’m not sorry to expect you to post with some degree of responsibility. If you don’t like being called out, up your game. Read your own link before posting it. What a concept. Maybe realize that a Republican doesn’t expect to parlay an endorsement from an old guy into broad-based support from one of the domestic groups that most hates Romney’s guts, and not try to suggest otherwise.

IOW, be honest. You guys expect it of me.

193. Puddybud spews:

You are clearly here only to demonstrate constant ‘push back’ against anything said by anyone that might remotely be considered ‘left’.

I’m dying for the selection of Condi Rice as Romney’s running mate. The smears of Rice by MSNBC types who will be simultaneously attributing criticism of Obama to racism will be delicious.
