In announcing his candidacy for King County Prosecutor, acting prosecutor Dan Satterberg made a big show of promising to keep his office “above politics,” instructing his staff that he would “not permit members of the office to either contribute money or a personal endorsement to my campaign,” yet when civil division chief Sally Bagshaw emailed attorneys at the region’s top law firms, saying she was “supporting” Satterberg, and asking for their endorsements, Satterberg said he thought it was “an appropriate thing to do.”
Huh. That’s a pretty fine parsing of the meaning of the word “endorsement.” So since I obviously lack his sharp legal mind, perhaps Satterberg could explain to me how his admonishment against staff contributing a “personal endorsement” is consistent with Bagshaw’s name appearing on his own web site’s list of… um… personal endorsements…?
SNIDE ASIDE:
On a tangential note, in her controversial June 9 email, Bagshaw stated that “Our goal is to get the top lawyers in King County to endorse Dan early, and I would like to place 1000 lawyers’ names onto the website this week.”
One month later she seems to be about 700 lawyers short of her goal.

Satterberg’s criterion for determining the appropriateness of endorsements isn’t too hard to figure out:
Staffer endorses Satterberg = appropriate
Staffer endorses opponent = inappropriate

My volunteer work as a vegetable taster requires me to travel this time of year. YUMMY!!! I’m keeping America’s food supply safe by eating it. My absence from HA this month doesn’t mean Roger Rabbit is dead! You trollfucks aren’t that lucky — you’re all a bunch of unlucky losers. I’ll be back in a few weeks to mess with you unpatriotic America-hating fascist pigfuckers like always! Until then, I’ll see you when I see you, unless they hang you for treason first! If your lame ass argument is that Bill Clinton was a bad President – which is what you say – and if your argument now is that the AWOL coward GW Bush is in someway comparable to Bill Clinton, what you are actually saying is that GW Bush is NO BETTER THAN CLINTON.
Does it hurt to be that stupid? I really want to know.
proud leftist says:
RES @ 18
You’ve hit it on the nose. The rightwing fringefucks consider Clinton to be the personification of evil–indeed, he is the devil incarnate in their twisted little minds. Nonetheless, their justification for all of the Bushites’ sins is, always, “well, Clinton did it, too.” Methinks they never studied logic.”

The reason why any thoughtful Democratic voter will not be voting for Dan Satterberg can be found just down the hall from the chimpster in an office belonging to the slimeball called TURD-BLOSSOM by his fruadulency himself, George Bush.

@4, 6-8
I’m glad you guys enjoyed my posts. I know that there’s no way you can verify the veracity of what I’m saying here — please just take my word for it (I have no reason to lie about it) — but I went over to (u)SP yesterday in a fit of boredom, saw 2 threads exhorting the crowd of assembled lemmings to wish ManOrMonkey a happy birthday. That struck me as particularly asinine: asking anyone to wish a psychopathic war criminal a happy birthday is, to me, beyond the pale. So, I put on my GOP overalls and straw hat, chose me the name “dooz”, ‘n wrote me one of them posts. (Three, to be exact, as there’s one on another thread, where I say something to the effect of “God I hate them [sic] librals”.)
Just wanted to see if anyone would take me seriously — and someone did. (Someone else — the other “dooz” — reacted as probably most sentient Americans would.)
What did I learn? It doesn’t take much mental effort to act like a brain-dead Republican: just spew out a caricature of what you think one would say, spell some words wrong (note that some, like “tahugt”, are ostensibly typing errors due to poor coordination), throw in some poor grammar, and Bob’s your uncle. It’s easy, watch:
God bless the republican party they know that librals are all commie america haters. We should get rid of them all you know send them across the boarder to France or somewhere they can be traters nad work with terrists.
I don’t know, however, if I should be somewhat worried that (a) someone actually did take my first post seriously enough to advocate for Ron Paul; (b) there was no condemnation of anything “dooz” advocated, or (c) “dooz” didn’t get banned for posting racist/xenophobic crap. (Or (d), that I’d even writing something so patently stupid in the first place; but then again, what’s the saying about “know thy enemy”?)
Dooz’ll probably get banned from (u)SP now, but who gives a rat’s ass? I have no use for a right-wing circle-jerk fest.

Dooz,
You had to make an effort to be an idiot. “Me” is a natural talent.
Thomas Jefferson spews:
Just out of curiousity, how many times a day do you people use ‘racist’, ‘fascist’ or ‘right-wing’ in a sentence?
Let me guess:
The Israeli’s are Nazi’s. The US Military is filled with clueless losers. All Republicans (and most Democrats) are useless drones who do and think what their corporate masters tell them. And Socialism *really will* work, if it’s implemented correctly, oh and the *right* people are in charge.
That about cover it?
John Barelli spews:
Mr. Jefferson said:
You mean aside from you and people quoting other posts? One of each on this thread. (I checked.) Not so often, considering that this is an uncensored left-wing political blog.
Taken one at a time:
No, the Israelis are not Nazis, although they are not immune from criticism, as they seem to have a rather nasty tendancy to use deadly force against civilians, and they have a vocal minority that seems to believe that only Jews have any rights worth considering.
Many of us here are Veterans or retired military. The US Military consists of brave young men and women, going where the civilian government has sent them and are currently getting killed because that civilian government refuses to listen to their military experts.
We tend to be rather hard on Republicans around here. Uncensored left-wing blog, remember? And yes, some Democrats do seem to be acting a bit like mindless drones, kowtowing to their corporate masters, and we’re critical of them too. You want a political blog that toes any particular party line, then you’re in the wrong spot, however, if you’ve been around for a while, you’ve seen this blog actively support candidates as well.
Oh, and depending on your particular definition of Socialism, many people, especially Republicans, seem to believe that we have been Socialist ever since FDR rolled out the New Deal. Is Great Britain Socialist? Canada? Germany? Japan?
All of those countries use tax money to redistribute wealth and pay for certain basic services, as do we here in the US. The discussion is about the degree of intervention, not whether we will intervene.
I don’t know. Does it?
Thomas Jefferson spews:
@28
Thank you for such a thoughtful response. Much more so than I expected given the ranting evident on some of the threads on this site.
