Turns out there’s a guy, who is in the Tea Party, who just happens to have the same same as the alleged shooter. THEY HAD THE WRONG GUY! Wow, what a shitty bunch of journalists ABC has working for it. It’s almost as embarassing as Dan Rather ruining his career on that phony Texas Air National Guard letter accusing Bush of being AWOL. Let’s just say that Bush was AWOL, but using fabricated evidence is bad joo-joo, legally. I think even the rodent would agree that falsifying evidence is a shitty thing to do. In this video, Goodridge shares her family’s encounters with Gov.     Roger Rabbit Commentary: This doesn’t come from some “wild-eyed left-wing” publication. It was published in Barron’s, an investing magazine with a strong conservative editorial bias. The methodology used by this prognosticator is similar to Darryl’s, breaking down the election into 50 individual state contests, which is how Electors are actually chosen and is the only correct way to do it. And Romney’s campaign is indeed “troubled” as Barron’s says; you need look no further than the tax return controversy to see that.

This week Rachel’s mother is in Ethiopia to see for herself the wells that her daughter’s last wish made real. She’ll get to meet the children who now have clean water for the first time in their lives because her little girl had a selfless dream and gave up her last birthday in hopes that it could come true.     When someone’s standing in front of you with a gun, pulling a gun is a good way to get yourself shot.

    If you had a gun, had a clear shot, and were 10-15 away from the guy, and he wasn’t looking at you a couple of rounds center of the chest/back would have knocked him on his ass, regardless of the body armor. But, that’s a lot of ifs and maybe everyone else in the theater would have thought you were a second shooter and maybe the third guy with a gun might have shot you.

    I’m left wondering why the door he existed to get his guns wasn’t alarmed, so the theater folks know it didn’t relock when he exited. Simply closing that door would have saved a lot of lives.

    The quickie background checks work that we do for all fireams sales work fine for someone like me who does a little plinking with .22’s. But, we need a more involved process for someone that wants to buy the kind of firepower that this guy had.

    I actually think guns can be fun. In fact, I was on a rifle team in high school (my high school had both a rifle range and the largest pool hall in Missouri in the basement) and could put 5 .22 slugs through a single hole at 50′ when I was at my best.
    At the time the NRA used a ranking system: sharpshooter -> marksman -> expert -> distinguished expert. I made expert by sophomore year.

    No guns per se are only part of the problem. 300 million guns floating around the USA is a ludicrous number, and the ease with which one can equip oneself with 100-round AR-15 drum-type magazines and other atrocities is criminal.

    What is worse, however, is the mentality you parade around here with pride – affirmative, aggressive stupidity. The NRA-manipulated notion that NO discussion of ANY regulation of ANY sort of firearm is acceptable. The infantile, imbecilic notion that you’re going to protect your ‘castle’ and your wimmins and your cars and your stuff with your little personal arsenal.

    The police eh? good luck with that. There were officers at the theatre in Aurora. Did that help? With regards to 911 operators and following their directions…I have vast experience with dispatchers.. They do a very difficult job. They’re not going to protect you.
    Active shooter situations are too dynamic for the police to protect you…Ditton someone breaking into your home…
    The police are great for figuring out what happened AFTER the crime has been committed.

    I read that the police were on the scene in 2 minutes. In that 2 minutes – of tear gas, chaos, gunfire in a dark crowded theater – that a private citizen with a pistol would have altered the outcome for the better? That had they even had the presence of mind to draw aim and fire, that they would have hit no innocent bystanders? That the second and third armed citizen would have known who was whom and fired on the right target? Really?

    You don’t think that there would be a greater chance of repeating what happened with the trigger-happy cop in NY, the one that murdered his own son because he came into his motel room while they were on vacation together?
