    These are not the best and brightest.

    These are the assorted third tier climbers and grift hustlers who are left after the second tier quits in exasperation, shame, and disgust. Phil Waldron is the quintessential example. We live among a generation of corporate and political leaders and executives who haven’t the faintest idea how their own toasters work, much less cloud computing or the internet. Selling “security” to such leaders and executives has become immensely lucrative and requires little capability or expertise, just salesmen.

    After Russian GRU teams penetrated the DNC and Clinton campaign to assist Republicans and Trump in 2016 the marketplace among campaigns exploded for such companies. And most of them merely peddled off-the-shelf security products you could buy at Best Buy. By 2020 Waldron and his company were very well connected and familiar to lots of Republicans in and around the Trump White House.

    He saw a huge sales opportunity for himself and for his companies. It’s just that simple. Like any good salesman (from two decades ago) he put together a presentation deck and filled it with the things he knew his target audience wanted to see. This tells us more about the customers than it does about the salesman. Trump and his top Republican leadership team wanted to overthrow the government so he and they could stay in power. And they were openly seeking input from people who were willing to help them do that.

    That isn’t “one interpretation”. That’s exactly what they were up to. And they still are today.

So if the end is true for these New Flyer DE60LFs, we got 16-17 years out of them.(They entered service in 2004-2005 after extensive testing). At first fuel economy was as bad as the Diesels, but then they were used on city routes too, where their hybrid drives could get some use. One drawback was the Diesel kicked in in the tunnel between University St and Westlake (a portion of it goes above 35mph), but a software fix mitigated that.

    There goes upcoming games against Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary. Ford and Horgan seem to be ok premiers on COVID, the UCP in Alberta not so much. I think Tuesday against Arizona is still on.
